Hello and good morning, you two. How are you doing?

Speaker 2: We're good, man.

Speaker 1: Man, I feel like I've watched you two grow up.

And I can't be the only one that is telling

you that today because it's just so amazing to see

how your family continues to embrace what family is all about.

And just everything that you bring is just so authentic.

And I can't thank you enough for that.

Speaker 2: Oh, thank you.

Speaker 3: Thank you.

Speaker 1: To be a part of the great American family. I mean,

this is going to be something. This is you guys

stepping out. And it does remind me of the days

when I left Montana and came to Carolina. So I'm

watching you like a hawk. I'm watching you because I

know I'm going to learn something from the two of you.

Speaker 2: I hope so.

Speaker 3: I hope so. This was definitely.

You know, a fun, you know, opportunity. We, we, it

was not expected when we met with, you know, great

American media, we met with Bill Abbott and Kayla Halbrick

and just was, we were just kind of talking about

life and we were newly grandparents at the time. And, um,

or up-and-coming grandparents. I don't even now remember the date.

I feel like the time has flown by. But we

had worked with Great American Media on a couple other

smaller projects that, for us, you know, we popped in.

But we just knew we wanted to work with them

in some capacity, we thought, on the back end. So when,

you know, at the end of lunch, and they're like,

we've never even done an unscripted show. We're like, yeah.

Speaker 2: And they were like, well, but let's do it.

Speaker 3: We were like, oh, whoa. uh okay you know it

we we went to the drawing board of like oh

goodness like what does this look like you know and

and how do we do this with our family and

um you know we have grown kids now and you

know some are working and they they don't have jobs

or they could just take off and come film you

know like when we used to in a dynasty we

would just all we were all working together so we

all filmed together you know so um it was definitely

different but it was it was a a breath of

fresh air. I feel like it was a, it's a

different show, a different concept, but also I think a slowed.

Speaker 1: Down version, you know, Well, see, and that's one of

the reasons why I said growing up with you guys,

because we've watched how everything has happened and that process

of learning to slow down, because that's what people are

talking about now. Life is moving too quickly. What are

we doing wrong? And so I rely on your your

stories to help me pace things out. So vicariously, I'm

not the only one. We're all living through you.

Speaker 2: Well, I think we're trying to show, too, especially on

this show, is it's you need to get outside. You

know what I'm saying? Get outside, enjoy God's nature. I

do think that's what's missing today. And a lot of

kids' lives, you know, they just don't go outside. They're

on their computer and their phones and they're just, you know,

and as time goes by so fast, they look up

and say, what happened? I mean, you know, our kids

are doing the same things. Like, you know, Part of

why we did this was for our kids. It was like, man,

let's get outside and do things. You know, when I

was a kid, you didn't come inside. Especially during the summer.

Speaker 3: No, man. In a damn bottle of water, we drank

out of the water hoses back then.

Speaker 2: Our kids think that's so crazy. That's right.

Speaker 1: I remember being outside. We were playing baseball, and my

dad made us come inside because man was going to

walk on the moon. And we're going, but we're playing baseball, dude.

And because we did everything outside. Take your little moonwalk

out here then, dad, if you want us to watch it.

Speaker 3: Yeah. I just had a flashback to Sandlot is what

I just had.

Speaker 2: A flashback to.

Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Did you ever have a neighbor like

that that would that would have that kind of an

edginess to it? Because it seems like that was that's

a part of Americana that people don't talk about the

neighbors that you love. But by God, they've got a

dark side to them.

Speaker 2: Yeah it's the birds that's one of our favorite.

Speaker 1: Movies oh my god please do not move we've got

and Jessica Robertson first of all, to get the courage

to be able to share the stories that you do,

because many of us, you know, I I'm here in

the South too. Mom is always the word followed by, well,

bless your heart, you know? And it's just one of

those things where it's like, you know, there's such a,

something about the South that speaks to the world. What

is it that we are doing here that everybody is

watching and more who they're judging as well?

Speaker 3: Well, I.

Speaker 2: Mean, I think if you watch this show, you will

see it. It's, As authentic, I think, as you can

make TV because we're very like this is what we're doing.

This is how we do life. We're not trying to

pretend like we're somebody else. And I think people can

see that and be like, oh, well, that's them.

Speaker 3: That is them.

Speaker 2: And so I think that really resonates with people because

we're not trying to pull any wool over your eyes.

We're like, no, this, you know, what our life is

about is faith, family and community. That's how we do it.

Speaker 3: Yep.

Speaker 1: And see, and that comes true with this comment that

came from your souls. And I want this on my

wall so badly. Building a life worth coming home to.

You could have said to a house, you could have said, well,

I'm going to my apartment. But you said home. And

that says a lot about your personalities and your love

for life.

Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. I think that, you know.

Speaker 3: We kind of call it home away from home when

we're there. But, you know, no matter where you are,

like we've always wanted that. It's like when, you know,

when I'm going to stay somewhere, I'm like, does it

feel like homey? Does it feel like somewhere you could

relax and take a deep breath and kick your shoes off?

And that's what we want. We want people to kick

your shoes off, join us, join, you know, Beyond the Bayou.

And hopefully, you know, some entertainment. It also encourages families

to reconnect, reconnect with kids, friends.

Speaker 2: You know, in your community.

Speaker 1: Now, when you stretch out beyond the Bayou, only because

I'm over here in Carolina and I see what's happening

to the Southern accent, how are you protecting that tradition?

Because you know, the Southern accent is leaving us and

it's like, Oh my God, how are we going to

preserve this?

Speaker 3: Yeah, I know it.

Speaker 2: You know, I think that's kind of the thing today

is I've had buddies, you know, I grew up with

whatever they move. They move off somewhere and they start talking.

I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, buddy. What happened? Yeah, you're

not talking the same way as you used to. I

think you're right. It is a it's a fleeting thing.

But I tell you this, we'll keep it up.
