Episode 2226: Luxury Sustainable Water: Discover the Story Behind Splendor Volcanic Artesian Water

In this episode, we deep dive into the extraordinary origins of Splendor Volcanic Artesian Water, a brand that goes far beyond standard hydration.

Sourced from the pristine foothills of the Andes Mountains near the Cotopaxi Volcano and La Maná, Ecuador, this water's journey begins as pure snow and rainfall filtering slowly for centuries through deep layers of volcanic basalt, lava rock, and ancient mineral strata.

Discovered in a region historically revered by ancient civilizations for its unique energetic properties, the underground artesian aquifer brings something truly rare to the table.

In this episode, we explore what makes Splendor completely unique, from being globally recognized as the only bottled water known to naturally contain trace amounts of colloidal gold and silver—with the silver acting as a natural preservative that eliminates the need for harsh ozone treatments—to its "Super Low Minerality" Total Dissolved Solids level of roughly 31 mg/L that guarantees a silky, clean, and smooth finish with zero metallic aftertaste and balanced trace electrolytes for cellular hydration.

Looking forward, listeners can get excited about what is next for the brand, including its dedication to ecological responsibility through pioneering 100% recycled plastic (rPET) bottles in Latin America alongside light-filtering indigo glass packaging designed to protect water integrity from UV degradation, plus its Rainforest Alliance certification that directs a percentage of gross sales back into local environmental conservation and community development programs in Ecuador.

Splendor Volcanic Artesian Water (formerly known as Health2O / Splendor by Health2O) is an ultra-premium volcanic artesian mineral water available in still and sparkling varieties.

Sourced from the pristine foothills of the Andes Mountains near the Cotopaxi Volcano and La Maná, Ecuador, it holds global recognition as the only bottled water naturally containing trace amounts of colloidal gold and colloidal silver.

With a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level of roughly 31 mg/L, it falls squarely into the "Super Low Minerality" category. Furthermore, it features signature dark indigo-blue glass and eco-friendly rPET packaging designed specifically to protect water integrity from UV degradation.

The journey of Splendor Water begins as pure snow and rainfall on the peak of the Cotopaxi Volcano, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world.
The water filters down slowly over centuries through deep layers of volcanic basalt, lava rock, and ancient mineral strata.

It was discovered in the rainforest region of La Maná, Ecuador—an area historically revered by ancient civilizations for its unique energetic properties—during soil excavations that also revealed historical stone artifacts.

It is bottled directly at the source to ensure that nothing is artificially added, removed, or chemically altered during packaging.

Splendor is widely celebrated by water sommeliers and the Fine Water Society for its exceptional structure and taste profile.

As the water traverses volcanic rock beds, it naturally acquires microscopic trace amounts of gold and silver.

The naturally occurring silver acts as a natural preservative, eliminating the need for harsh ozone treatments.

A near-zero heavy mineral load guarantees a silky, clean, and smooth finish on the palate with zero metallic aftertaste.

Its natural isotonic properties deliver a balanced ratio of essential trace electrolytes—including calcium, potassium, magnesium, and bicarbonates—for optimal cellular hydration.

Splendor maintains a strong commitment t

Speaker 1: What it is, what it do, cyber World. It is

your girl, the one and only Ash Brown, and this

is the Ash set. Its show over twenty two hundred

episodes and twenty fourteen seven hundred thousand streams globally. None

of this is possible without you, guys, so thank you

so much for all of the shares, the cares. It

makes a huge difference. Today we are joined by the

Speaker 2: Hey Sarah, Hey, as, how are you. I'm tcited to

be here.

Speaker 1: Thank you so much. I'm doing pretty good. How are

you doing?

Speaker 2: I am good.

Speaker 3: I got a lot of travel, very busy summer, a

lot of exciting things happening.

Speaker 2: So it's great to talk to you.

Speaker 3: I know I've been trying to connect for a little

while now, So thank you so much.

Speaker 1: Yeah as, yes, absolutely, I mean thank you and your team.

You guys sent me a beautiful care package that was

happily waiting for me when I got home, so I

was super excited about that. Thank you so much.

Speaker 2: You're more than welcome. We have Mark glad you enjoyed.

Speaker 1: Our Yes, great water, great products. I want to go

back to the beginning. What inspired you to bring this

unique mineral rich experience.

Speaker 3: It is really an intricate story, one that over at

coffee one day, I'll probably tell you that the longer

version of the promise, I'll keep the sum racist things,

because it's really it's really a magical story.

Speaker 2: I was first introduced to Splendor water. It pre existed me.

Speaker 3: So while I you know, I'm the leader of the

US and families deeply involved in Founders, we do always

like to credit the original founder that was back in

the eighties. His name was Gio Majeorge, and he actually

that the very beginnings of the story where that he

had a daughter. He lived in Lamana, Ecuador, on those

lands where the Spring of Splendor now is today, and then.

Speaker 2: His daughter was actually greatly ill.

Speaker 3: And he had a dream to bathe her in the

springs on his land and give her this water for

several days on end, and after about ten days she

ended up getting better.

Speaker 2: She still lives today to tell this story. And so

his original mission was really to get what became Flundor.

Speaker 3: Out to the world and to help the world experience

what he really believed this water had, which was healing

effects and great properties.

Speaker 2: So our mission have always been to.

Speaker 3: Continue that, but I've produced to slender water actually through

a group of functional doctors and integrated doctors traditionally trained

and then also use a lot of bio energetic work

in their practices in Latin America and throughout Spain. My

mother is Colombian, so we were down in Colombia for

Christmas of twenty fourteen. My grandmother at the time, my

maternal grandmother at the time, had Alzheimer's and was no

longer really in her body inhabiting it. So we've come

together as a family to sort of let her know

we were at peace and sort of incouraging her soul

if he willed to pass on.

Speaker 2: And one of our close family friends.

Speaker 3: Who was in this group of functional doctors that at

the time had invested in Splendor to continue its growth

throughout Latin America. After that original founder led this ceremony

and he talked about a lot of the different elements

of the earth, the water, ether fire, that were all

sort of part of one. And the representation for water

in that ceremony was a blue bottle of Splendor, and

so sarendipitously, my father had come down also for that ceremony,

just by my parents being divorced for fifteen years at

this point, and he sort of got into so he said,

what is this, you know, what is this blue bottle?

And she told me the story, and our good friend

Jorge the doctor, said, well, keep one in your pocket

for tonight, you know, when we go out to see

all the Christmas lights, and I'll tell you everything then.

Speaker 2: And so kind of history from there.

Speaker 3: My father fell in loved the story, as did I,

and it was a really kind of unique blend of

my family, both maternal and paternal, coming together, and started helping.

Speaker 2: On the side when we were prepping.

Speaker 3: To launch the product in the US back in twenty

eighteen when I was working in New York.

Speaker 2: And then we did finally ocfessionally launch.

Speaker 3: It after many delays through challenges through the pandemic in

twenty twenty two, first on e commerce and direct to consumer.

It's throughout the ten years that we've ten plus years

now that we've been involved as a family. It's now

leading brand in Ecuador, leading premium brand.

Speaker 2: We launched direct to consumer in the US in twenty

twenty two and really.

Speaker 3: Has been expanding our retail footprint, notably in the last

two years now.

Speaker 2: Available in the likes of Sprout.

Speaker 3: Airwin Loads, Foods in the southeast, and a ton of

additional regional retailers throughout the country. So it's been a

whirlwind of you know, ten plus years of at least somewhat.

Speaker 2: Being tied to the water. But the story runs way

deeper than our family, which is what so special?

Speaker 1: Yes, well who doos too? That is an incredible story

because I hadn't heard it prior to right now, so

that is absolutely incredible. And then for your family to

you know, join forces and bring this amazing product to

the world.

Speaker 2: Yes, now it's been it's been a joy.

Speaker 3: It's a learning every day, but but we're really enjoying

it and we deeply believe in it.

Speaker 2: So thank you.

Speaker 1: Now. What is live water?

Speaker 2: So live water I will have that here.

Speaker 3: That is it is definitely an emerging term, and there

are definitions of it that's sort of very dependent on

who you're speaking to and what market audience. But the

way that we've truly defined it and as it's growing

to be, it's pretty simple.

Speaker 2: It's that water that originates.

Speaker 3: From a natural springer source that's been really kept unprocessed

and as much in its natural state in essence as

it possibly can.

Speaker 2: Be natural state from the earth.

Speaker 3: I liken it too, you know, just organic, natural, real food,

you know, not something that comes in a package or

the process in any way that I think the world

has really begun.

Speaker 2: To pay attention to.

Speaker 3: And water is really starting to have that moment, which

is really exciting, as we really want water be the same.

We want it to be something that natural, is more

compatible and readily absorbed by our body and organism because

it's in the same composition and state that hasn't been

altered or been sitting in type filtered or at it

you know, filtered with the good and the bad out

and or you know, treated with chemical processing that ultimately

changes the water and where it comes from. So it's

fun or it's a little bit of how we do

go above and beyond in terms.

Speaker 2: Of how we do that.

Speaker 3: Because of course, our source itself is extremely special and

unlike any other.

Speaker 2: It's sourced from the Kotopaxi volcano in Ecuador, which.

Speaker 3: Is one of the highest peaks in the world that

now actually carries incredible energetic properties because it's in this

like center area of the world right along with several

other active volcanoes in the world, so that essence of

where we're from is really special and energetic, and we're

one of the only sources in the world where water

naturally picks up not only amazing minerals like calcium, potasty

and magnetium that you get in a lot of other

mineral waters, but it also picks up gold and silver

really really trace them out of it.

Speaker 2: So it's of course safe to.

Speaker 3: Drink, but those two minerals have really functional benefits from

helping the collagen natural antibacterial.

Speaker 2: So we want to keep everything.

Speaker 3: That's in the water from this amazing source in it

and as untouched as possible. And the way that we

kind of go above and throughout our bodiling process to

keep it alive and keep all.

Speaker 2: That natural energy intact is that.

Speaker 3: At our spring, which is in Lamna right where it

kind of and these meet the Andian rainforest, we transport

the water as it's from the Artesian spring, so it

comes up to the surface naturally.

Speaker 2: Through surgical grade sealed pipes that are lined with ionized magnets.

Speaker 3: And it sounds a little crazy, but stick with me,

but lined with magnets at strategic points that's really meant

to like emulate the water in the spring in a

circular motion, so that it's not just going straight to

the plant, but as if it was flowing naturally in nature.

Speaker 2: And then there through bottling.

Speaker 3: It's not treated with any chemicals whatsoever, not very very

natural sinfiltration, just with like necessary for bottling.

Speaker 2: And then the blue bottle is you know, beautiful and

can be a great design choice, but it's actually really

more of a functional choice.

Speaker 3: If you think about beer or any process that like

should not be touched by light and isn't a darker bottle.

The blue bottles meant to protect the water from heat,

light or any external elements that can alter the streat

and the natural structure of it or the water molecules inside.

So when you drink it, unlike you know, really any

other spring water and all the amazing waters that are

also out there one door is in a molecular and

energetic state that's as close to the spring as you

could possibly get.

Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just like wow, So you never knew there

was so much.

Speaker 1: In this blue bottle, And like I said, everything that

you said is is you know, it makes sense that

it's functional to protect the blue bottle to protect the water,

to protect the content. So that's so wow. You learn

something new every day. It's always good, not just for

liquor anymore, it's to protect the waters.

Speaker 2: Cow Well Blue.

Speaker 3: Really is fantastic a kind of people, great sends in

terms of the proper these of cobalts. If you want

to deep dive on that too in your own time.

Speaker 2: The cobalt flu is fantastic.

Speaker 1: What has been the most surprising lesson that you've learned

while building the brand for Splenderwater?

Speaker 3: Oh man, so many lessons that from the beginning of

you know, even first getting interested.

Speaker 2: I'd say some of the starting.

Speaker 3: Ones just I will never look at any products truly

food or beverage products on a shelf the same in

terms of understanding and appreciating the level of de city

making and detail that goes into any food or beverage

label packaging, the way you get your story the elements

in it in a succinct way to any customer, especially

on a shelfie like five seconds or less to get

everything that I just told you in the last ten

to fifteen minutes across, which is has been so challenging

because you know, especially when you're.

Speaker 2: So passionate about something in the story. To get that

succinctism is a challenge.

Speaker 3: But I think really the most thriving lesson here recently

for me, especially with our growth at.

Speaker 2: Retail, is that retail is challenging. It is. It is

no joke, it really I really can't.

Speaker 3: I have to throughout some appreciation to all founders and

all products really that do make it to the shelf,

because each one has worked so hard to get there.

The amount of time and resource and and really like

payment to pay to play a lot of times with

these big resellers that it takes.

Speaker 2: To secure that space first and then to ensure that

you stay on shelf is really a whole different ballgame.

It's where the real work begets.

Speaker 3: Like you've great you know, open these doors or sprouts and.

Speaker 2: And uh, and then it's not guaranteed that.

Speaker 3: You stay there, so you have to continually promote, continually

fund all of that, and you know, it's it's interesting,

maybe this shouldn't have been such a surprise with us,

if you think, and you're so excited once you start

to scale.

Speaker 2: And then you hardly have to take a step.

Speaker 3: Back and ensure that especially in a category like water right,

where the expectation is for us to not really be

above a certain price point and still.

Speaker 2: Remain in our goal too. Right, we want the world

to be able.

Speaker 3: To access this water despite the fact that we are

a premium product and we're importing which as a whole

other layer of the cost structure, and so trying to

compete with national companies, companies that often have much deeper

pockets and capacity than are still small.

Speaker 2: Really family business.

Speaker 3: Margins can really become quickly compressed, and we have to

really think about building that structure into the layers of

distribution stores and.

Speaker 2: Then the end customer.

Speaker 3: So we've really been trying to think outside the box

lately on where else we as a true.

Speaker 2: Wellness and functional product can fit.

Speaker 3: We'll look out for us in newer places like spas,

wellness centers and and you know, high end gems everywhere

where people are like really paying attention to the importance

of hydration.

Speaker 2: And the quality of the water that they're putting in

their bodies.

Speaker 3: We are we're examining all ways in which we can

can meet that person.

Speaker 1: What is the next big milestone on the horizon for

Splendor Water.

Speaker 3: Well, we've got several exciting things with that push to

be more like the overall wellness and life beat space.

Speaker 2: We in the US did actually just launch our second

year partnership with Diplow's ren Clubs, the dj s that

SIPs is pushing a big wellness push as well.

Speaker 3: We just have the first two races in both Denver

and Billy this month, and the next ones are coming

up in October throughout La San Diego and New York.

But I think more exciting and importantly is the Company

at Large is one of our biggest projects that's been

in the works for several years and finally come to

fruition and open.

Speaker 2: To the public so that we at so so madeor

the original founder's home.

Speaker 3: It was falling apart and we've reconstructed it and opened

a wellness retreat and healing.

Speaker 2: Center there at the source called Cori.

Speaker 3: Mana, and it's a way of revamping our story. A

lot of the old artifacts and the pyramid that's on

our label can be told and truns there at a

small museum on site, and the idea of the importance

of water and sort of that essence of bringing.

Speaker 2: Back to ourselves and the healing source where we were found.

Speaker 3: Is the idea of opening that up to the world

and allowing people to come visit our plant Monday.

Speaker 2: And have really a really unique self healing.

Speaker 3: Experience at this retreat center that's just been recognized by

healing centers of the world, and that we hope to

be able to bring many more people to in the

years to come.

Speaker 1: Sarah, thank you so much for coming through. We so

appreciate you and your efforts.
