Daily Faceoff has its 2030 projected standings and the Golden Knights are ranked much lower than fans would expect.   VGK would have an aging roster and the team would be entering a retooling phase if the team has a bulk of its roster remaining four years from now.  VGK is ranked 15th. Some are fired up about the new season and others have major concerns.  We discuss things we are most and least excited about heading into Ryan Craig's inaugural season. The Golden Knights have had some marketing campaigns that have stuck over the first nine years of existence.  The most important campaign is one that wasn't planned and grew out of the October 1st tragedy.  "Vegas Born" was a slogan that galvanized the fan base and helped in the healing process following the tragedy.  The tagline is still used today.  It has led to merch sales and many have said it has become a global movement.  Our players we miss and don't miss aren't perhaps ones that fans think of off the top.  But we have our own interesting list of players on both sides.  Some might surprise you.

We pose the question who is the Golden Knights top rival now?  Is it a divisional foe like Edmonton, Anaheim, L.A. or ever San Jose, a team VGK has dominated?  After the postseason series with Utah, fans want to see these teams collide more often.  VGK has one roster spot remaining and needs to do something after they place Alex Pietrangelo on LTIR.  Which play is last on the pecking order?  And, Cutter Gauthier turned down a large offer from the Ducks leaving the team against the cap.  According to reports, the 41-goal scorer turned down an offer of $13m AAV.

If you were starting a franchise today, which Golden Knights player would you build your team around.  Of course Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner were our top two picks.  But was there a third VGK player on the team currently that we felt you could build a franchise around?  We look at VGK's offseason, rated as one of the worst (24th) in the Hockey News off-season rankings.  A year ago VGK had a terrific off-season when they landed Mitch Marner.  More players left the organzation this summer, than we brought in.  Plus the team lost free agent Pavel Dorofeyev. Carter Hart's name is back in the news cycle.  He and four other Hockey Canada players have been suspended from international play.  Hart can't participate in any internationally sanctioned Canadian events for the next 15 months.  The five were acquitted from charges in the case, but a board of appeals ruled the teammates breached Team Canada's Code of Conduct. There will be no further sanctions from the NHL, as Hart already was suspended by the league. VGK appears to be out of the Dylan Larkin sweepstakes.  VGK and the Florida Panthers are backing off in their interest for Larkin, according to Michael Russo from The Sheet. And, we discuss VGK's lack of center depth.
