Speaker 1: It's the Internet. You're busy, let's do this. Welcome to

the Game as the Side Podcast. This is the podcast

where we decide everything about the world of games, so

you never have to think for yourself.

Speaker 2: I'm your host, Jeff Grubbin with me.

Speaker 1: Is Mike me Naughty And today's episode, where's zorking out

for Zork? Get your zorks out for Zork? PlayStation Kills

another multiplayer spinoff. Uh, we're putting down two k XO.

There's all kinds of stuff happening. Of course, it's.

Speaker 2: Gonna another Hat episode over there.

Speaker 1: It is. Oh my god, I can't believe I get

to see him so early. Oh boy, look at the

entrant of the hat A hat enters. But of course, first,

Mike Minati, how are you doing? Doing pretty good? Bit

of busy week.

Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll tell you what. Yesterday I was like, Wow,

that was a long day. Then I'm like, yeah, grub

dinner thing I did except also game Miss Mornings and

he actually had to play Cyberdillos that it was a

long day for you yesterday.

Speaker 1: Yeah. And it was the first day my kids went

back to school too, so it was it was held

that I don't remember yesterday.

Speaker 2: Yesterday's a blur now a lot, but you know what,

it was fine.

Speaker 1: You know it's nice because Wednesday evening I can look

forward to having that completely off. And I just did,

uh you know I did. I think I helped my

kids clean their rooms and that's what I did.

Speaker 3: Yeah, that's exciting, right, Yeah, but it's all good because

I'm going to Ikea this weekend.

Speaker 1: I'm very very excited.

Speaker 3: I was like bid to Ikia since, like my college days,

I had not brilliant. I'm like, that can't be right.

But certainly the last thing I ever bought at Ikia

was this that right right here. Maybe actually not the

infamously old desk, the infamously old decrepit desk that angers everybody,

but yeah, so like I need.

Speaker 1: I needed.

Speaker 4: It was a table.

Speaker 1: I want, like an end table, but it's not going

to the end of something. I think that's called a console,

my girlfriend told me. So I'm getting a console for

for an area. I'm also get another shelf to my

left here I have some bear space because I.

Speaker 3: Need to extend the video games. I don't have enough

show space back here anymore for all them.

Speaker 2: That so I more.

Speaker 1: I need more show space for the old video games.

Speaker 2: I think I like this plan.

Speaker 1: I think when the Ikea in Cleveland opens up that

I'm going to go there and I'm going to redo

that middle room and put a lot of stuff that's

in here in that room so I can kind of

open up my office a little bit and more wisely use.

Speaker 2: That center room. So yeah, that's that's exciting.

Speaker 1: Getting a console that's not gonna play video games, I

guess that's actually not exciting. I don't like that at all. Well,

I might put yeah, but like I want one that

I could fit my Lego Enterprise on. Perhaps, Well that's

cool together. So yeah, then like I want a bottomshelf

to put my records as well. That'll make me feel good.

Speaker 3: Man.

Speaker 1: I would have a nice little thing to like hold

records in the hold the record player so I could

access that more easily. That would be cool too. Just

got the Mario Galaxy movie soundtrack on vinyl from I

M A bit and I've been meaning to play that,

so that that would be pretty cool. But yeah, I uh,

I'm looking forward to the weekend though it's time to

It's not like I'm gonna relax. I'm and just be

doing more stuff around the house. But still I'm looking

forward to it. It'll be a good time. Lots of

games to be playing. Now it's it's all happening. I'm

still playing. I'll be playing a lot more fire on

wim I. We'll talk about that again once it's time

to review it. But uh, yeah, lots lots of stuff happening.

Speaker 3: Let me ask you a more morality question. Oh, I

have like four nephew zand or niss who are playing

soccer this year. All right, the all games on Saturday, okay,

and it's like first one starting at eight I would just.

Speaker 2: Choose the trolley to hit them all.

Speaker 3: I'm like, man, am I really just gonna be like yeah,

four or five hours? There might be gaps between four

or five six hours every Saturdays just watching I want

to watch soccer games.

Speaker 1: It's a lot of soccer that's upcoming though. Yeah. So

the question is do you do you have to go

to all the games?

Speaker 3: Well, here's why I concerned. It's like I feel like

I go to all of them or no. I'll say this,

I'm probably not going to that eight am soccer game

on a Saturday. Now, is this kid going to be

mentally equipped to understand why I specifically didn't come to

his fucker game but was clearly present at the other one.

Speaker 2: How old is this one?

Speaker 1: This is the seven or eight year old? Oh, you're

your bone, buddy.

Speaker 5: I know.

Speaker 1: I'm sorry.

Speaker 3: No, I might just suck it up for week one

at least, I don't know. Maybe you think that might

be the move.

Speaker 4: Go ahead, Christian, Hey can't you just pig one each

week and go to that one?

Speaker 3: I don't know, man, it's a bad look. It's a

getting These kids are like well, and yet he is

the one he actually cares about this.

Speaker 4: I think they can understand the kiss around and say

like this is to this random bring like a die.

So I don't know and whatever cause them.

Speaker 1: Think that's the one you love the most that week

and it can change every week. They I'll just go

to the one I love the most time. Yeah, that's

the answer right there, Mike. I think I think you

got it. Suck it up, go to all of them

the first week, and then you are I think free

to dip in here and there throughout the rest of

the season until they have whatever playoff or tournament they have,

and then you could show up for a couple of

those games.

Speaker 3: Maybell can get why find the soccer field and I'm

go I'll play dusk Bliss.

Speaker 1: Yeah, hell yeah, dude, that'd be you'd be the coolest

guy there. All right, let's uh, let's get into it.

A lot of these games coming out and our game

club discussions, early access to new episodes of shows like

Columbros and of course all of our shows ad free.

That's patreon dot com, slash game mess. All right, Mike,

Lots to get into. So let's go ahead and start

the news after a quick break. All right, Mike. The

Dusk Bloods previews are out and they seem surprisingly good.

I think of the people who are writing the review

the previews, excuse me, they themselves are saying this is

surprisingly good. Now there is I think the I'll jump

immediately to like the big outstanding question as far as

I was able to ascertain from the previews that I

read this morning. I read a handful some stuff over

at The Guardian. There was some stuff over at game Spot.

Jack Decker, who I trust on this stuff, he seemed

very positive. The outstanding question from just about everybody is

does this this game that they are presenting hold up

in it in a long term way?

Speaker 2: Like? Am I going to keep coming back to this

over and over again?

Speaker 1: Because, as far as everyone was concerned, the pepsi challenge

of it, all of trying it out and deciding, hey

does this taste sweet? It does thumbs up?

Speaker 3: Remember what that would evolve, right, Like I'm not saying there,

but like sometimes, yeah, sometimes it's hard to tell what

these kinds of games like.

Speaker 1: You play a few matches.

Speaker 3: Like wow, that's great, and then you maybe don't just

stick with.

Speaker 1: It, and maybe you maybe you've kind of got the

whole experience in those couple of matches and you never

need to need to do it again. Now, say, this

seems a little bit more robust in terms of the

different kinds of ways you can play, and I expect

mi Azaki to come with a bunch of weirdness. A

lot of that stuff is in the previews. Here's the

basic structure. Eight players enter a large map and complete

a compete excuse me, across four timed phases. You accumulate

virtue to survive each cut. And there's a bunch of

ways to get virtue by killing monsters and bosses, not

other players, by exploring stuff just generally not killing other players,

finding hitting objectives, completing character specific sigils, which are these

challenges which sometimes do involve other players, but not always

necessarily killing them, and then finally fighting other players. I

think it was game Informer mentioned that several times they

were able to make it to the final round without

ever engaging with the other players up to that point.

So it was like, I'm just going to go play

a from soft game that's going to give me enough

virtue and I will make it to the final round.

Now in the final round, it does seem like it's

going to turn into a PvP thing. Then they also

say there's a bunch of different ways for the PvP

to like to work. It's not always about the person

who's going to be the best of parrying. There are

so many different kinds of characters and play styles that

it feels like it's going to be a little bit

more not random, but just unpredictable about what is going

to be the best thing and who's going to win

and all this stuff. A couple of the kinds of

characters that I saw people describe a sniper who can

become a swarm of insects and has a gatling gun

in her chest. A senator who can turn into a dinosaur.

I still am confused by that one. A giant armored

diving suit character with missiles and a harpoon. That's Zork.

Speaker 4: Okay, he fucking wait, let me explain how he works

his shoes.

Speaker 1: Yeah, please his shoes.

Speaker 4: He's a big boy. He's a big boy. He looks

like a boy.

Speaker 5: He looks like.

Speaker 4: He has the spirit of a big boy. So I

feel represented already. I really love him. So he has

like these ruckets in the back and he can the

ability is he turned torn it on and then he's

he dives into ship and whatever he hits that she

likes gets snucked down and he looks stupid as fucking

I love it. It's just it looks so fun and

I'm so jelly. I don't.

Speaker 1: He's the ideal shape, just a triangular boy with legs beautiful.

Speaker 4: He's the perfect boy. Yeah, shout out to sork It's

Sorking forever. Brother, Let's go.

Speaker 1: There's also a guy in long underwear with a pod

on his head who uses an axe and fire because

it's I mean, a's Zaki game, so of course you

should do with the pod on his head. There's a

bunch of other stuff here, Like I did, I think

earlier today I might have caught you, like watching some

of these previews or something like taking a look at

some of this. Uh you are I think well known

to be keeping this game at arms distance. Because you

just don't know what to expect from it. Now that

we've gotten some more information, any updated thoughts, you know,

I do want to say, boy, this game looks gorgeous, right,

I think we're certainly like ooh from software, what's this

going to on? On the switch? Too?

Speaker 3: I mean, this game really does look like Bloodborne, but

looks like more colors. Like, the game looks absolutely awesome.

I think these class is good. Just like, look at

the game plan. I'm like, yeah, man, this is that

what you want these kind of games to look and feel.

You can kind of just you know, send the like

these awesome looking bosses things like that. I like, like

some of the variety seems to be happening with the

with the game point type. I mean, I still have

these inherent kind of concerns of it's similar to Night Rain.

I don't like the idea of being rushed through a

soul's experience, right, so it's like, all right, hurry up

and like get get points in you know these eight

minute burths, right, so it's like this kind of fast

paced thing.

Speaker 1: Maybe I'll I'll rig use that and too.

Speaker 3: I just I've never really cared that much about the

PvP side of these games.

Speaker 1: I don't know if I've ever.

Speaker 3: Thought the PvP side of these games was good, right,

I think it was always kind of funny as this

thing that something's accidentally happens. Maybe it's interesting. I think

it's interesting.

Speaker 1: I don't know if it's the thing that's ever been

like this is the core of why I come to

these games.

Speaker 3: So, you know, they did like, oh, you can do

a lot of stuff, I'll get you the PVV. But

like the end of the end of it all, it

does come down to that at the end, it sounds like, no,

you know, maybe I will feel differently once I played

these games, But those are the reason why I'm still

sort of concerned, wily, you know, Like I'm just I'm

just not as excited as if it was you know,

a new single player from software game Like it just

doesn't mean inherently interest me as much.

Speaker 2: Yep, me neither. I'm still very curious about this game.

Speaker 1: I think it seems like it's going to have a

lot of from weirdness. So one of the systems I

mentioned earlier, the sigils. These are the things that assign

weird relationships or objectives between players. You might have to

assassinate a specific rival or ally with an old friend

in quotes, is kind of how I was reading it,

And that meant like, you're just gonna the game is

going to say you to have a history or whatever.

Now you need to work together and get back together,

and let you're gonna be working together until like the

final round and you can't kill each other. Maybe you

have to hunt a heretic together, and like you have

to That's a whole other sigul. And there's one here

that I saw that said you can even propose marriage

to another player. That's all right. So it's like, is

that a person that either has to decide whether to

accept your proposal or kill you? I don't know. I

don't know. It's just yeah, cool, that's weird and different,

and uh, you know you hear me as Zaki talk

about it in some of these interviews and some of

these write ups where it's like, yeah, I'm looking for

opportunities to create drama between the various players.

Speaker 2: So that does seem to be as focus.

Speaker 1: And I think I go back to what you were saying, like,

where that is not what I'm necessarily showing up for.

I like to slowly explore these spaces and take my

time and not feel like if I if I rush

through here, I might miss something I don't want to

rush through, So I'm not going to do that. Well,

hear you, kind of I assume you have to rush

through because you got to get to the next thing

that can get you to a lot of points, and

that's not super compelling. No, it's not that it's not compelling.

It's just not going to give me the warm fuzzies

like some of these other from soft games. But hey,

I'm gonna be playing this thing tomorrow. I'm a very

intrigued to try it. Absolutely, yep, exactly, all right. Any

other thoughts about Dusk Bloods these previews and everything.

Speaker 3: No, I'm just I'm glad that they did do this

because I think I was sae before. I was like

kind of concerned. It seemed like it was we still

weren't really gonna understand this game until this bed it drops.

Speaker 1: So I'm glad they did a preview event.

Speaker 3: I'm glad that they, you know, used all these great

journalistic content creators to get the war from them and

then be able to tell us what this game actually

is and to give us a good look at it.

Speaker 1: And thank you again, thank god resort. Uh, you know,

I got my code right now. I got to make

sure I down that before I go to sleep tonight.

Speaker 4: About to say, it looks like it rolls better than

Blood Form too.

Speaker 1: Now it's so much sad today.

Speaker 3: Maybe it's an unlocked frame rate and that's not necessarily great,

but uh, just from like looking at these most of

his video footage anyways, it's yeah, like the games looking

pretty pretty good.

Speaker 1: God's work is cool. Holy shit is cool as fun.

I love him. I wonder what he looks like under there.

I hope we never see.

Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder the progression it's his business. What the

progression system is like these games these days, you can

never just be you won the match and now nothing

has happened and no number went up.

Speaker 1: I don't know what that all looks like. All right,

I have redeemed my code. It is now downloading on

the switch to.

Speaker 2: Okay, let's see here.

Speaker 1: Hey, that PlayStation Cops spin off, Horizon Hunters Gathering reportedly

being overhauled after poor testing feedback. They revealed this in February, Yes,

the end of February. This was going to be a

major live service it is that it's not necessarily canceled.

But there's a couple of things happening here, Mike. One

is they have to completely rework the game because they

have until December, I think, according to this reporting, to

prove to PlayStation that it can be a viable game.

Oh and the reason that is questionable whether they're going

to be able to pull that off is because it's

it's not going to be a live service game anymore. Instead,

they're going to have to shift everything to be a

more traditional just co op multiplayer experience with a lot

of that that stuff taken out, so like sort of

the foundational loops will have to change to fit that.

And you know, maybe maybe it's like I should actually

double check on the date there, but yeah, they have,

you know, until December. That's four months. It's not a

lot of time.

Speaker 4: It's impossible to to to to figure out what the

fuck Sony means with that and the like. Yeah, also

even if you figured it out, like to meet those

standards that are like magically think they're gonna their games

are gonna hit.

Speaker 1: This is this is the live service push mic. This

is one of the twelve live service games that started

as ten, grew to twelve, and has now completely blown

up in their faces. It's sort of hard to say

anything else about that initiative at this.

Speaker 3: Point, well kind of maybe even the worst part of

it is that the aspect of that initiative that was

maybe about finding a way to turn PlayStation's biggest modern

franchises the live service games, has completely failed. The Last

of Us one that was just straight up canceled, the

God of War one of canceled Studio Clothes that was

working on it. And now this not a live service

game anymore. Right, this is like some other example I'm

thinking of. I don't know if they tried with Spider

Man or.

Speaker 1: Not a Boy. I mean, there was a multiplayer Spider Man,

but I don't we don't know if that was live service.

There was at one point a Twisted Metal live service

free to play game in development that got canceled and

shifted around to a bunch of places. Yeah.

Speaker 3: So gosh, yeah, just like a terrible track record in general,

especially bad with converting their current franchises, not even to

like launching one that doesn't do well launching one, right,

they can't even do that with these things. It's like,

what even is on the horizon? It's still just fair games?

Was it Renee? I can't remember what is FIGO release?

I mean, I wonder if they still actually think that

this isn't initiative that is interesting working out, because it

seems practically desolate to me. Yeah, I think, you know,

maybe we can just bring this in right now. The

story here, Bungie was recently working on five to six

projects over the last several years, according to Jason Sryer,

who kind of talked about what's going on with their

live service initiative, and that was around the time of

Sony's three point six billion dollar acquisition, he says. Schreyer

says Sony was interested in Bungie partly because of this

broader portfolio of live service projects and wanted to see

them released in the years following the acquisition. However, for

a variety of reasons, most of those projects eventually fell apart,

with only some making it through development. So, yeah, this

is just more evidence that the golden trial of what

was supposed to be this major live service initiative, the

team that was supposed to show everyone else at Sony

how to do it. We talked about it way back

when when they made this acquisition, like of hey, these

are the people have the know how, and that's one

of the big reasons they're being acquired. So they can

kind of go around to the other studios and tell

them how it's done, and this studio can't get it done.

Speaker 1: So now oh oh, I mean I think I lost

it on everything too. Okay, So.

Speaker 5: I just went out for like, yeah there for.

Speaker 1: A whole minute, and cool, all right, well I have

the recordings. We'll probably just use that I was talking

the whole time, So that works out great. Just kicked

up again those that's it. Yeah, the stream came back

at the same time. So yeah, yeah, we're here.

Speaker 4: Yeah, we're talking about that. Bunchie was going to be

the one that we're like supervising all their live service games.

Speaker 1: Yeah, so and that has, you know, kind of fallen

out of favor and and and so it's like they

if they're not going to work, we have to consider

that this live service thing is dead and now PlayStation

is probably going to try to do something a little

bit more like Capcom and bring back some more games,

but they have lost some of the studios that could

do that, like Japan Studios. So what does that initiative

actually look like and do they really feel like that

is a replacement for this idea that they were going

to have these billion dollar live service games. Absolutely not.

So yeah, it's a failed initiative. And the plan right

now is to make more money from people who are

already buying PlayStation games, and that means, you know, no

physical games those are that's the big idea they have

right now, right exactly.

Speaker 3: It's just the whole thing just seems like an absolute

mess to me. Uh And this was supposed to be

think that, I don't know, this was gonna be the

thing of Game of Growth and it kind of lucked

out in the PlayStation becoming a default in like that

specific console space anyways. But boy, it's it's aside from

hell divers to the whole thing seems like it's just

been basically a disaster.

Speaker 2: All right.

Speaker 1: Let's see here h surprise Xbox game to be announced

that games Com insiders say this is from eddiemccui game spot.

Microsoft is gearing up to announce a game at games

Com this month, it appears, and it could be from

an established series. It's happening, yes, as a reminder, Microsoft

Xbox specifically is under BTS boycott. Insider Nate the Hate

two has has said that I've heard of a neat

Xbox announcement that should be at games Colm. He says,

it's a new game in a series and it's from

a studio outside of the Microsoft ecosystem. That matches up

with what I think a lot of people have heard,

including myself, that they are they were trying to get

a Killer Instinct done and you yes, And I think everyone,

especially Sean should be pinning all their hopes on that.

Speaker 3: What do you think Mike, who first off like and

not saying anything like that, it better be close to

coming out for me to get excited, because I ams

I still am feeling to burn from Perfect Dark pretty

pretty strong. In fact, Uh, when I was at that

Cubs game recently, I was in the team shop and

I had one of my Giant Bombs shirts on and

the guy checked me out of the team show was like, oh,

that looks familiar.

Speaker 1: What's step like? Oh, it's a vegan. Things like Oh,

I used to work as a game developer at Crystal

Dynamic was a Perfect Dark toll. I was laid off

and this guy so sad. I've already been upset about

that one.

Speaker 3: I was just like, oh my god, like they really

really god, I can't believe they canceled that.

Speaker 1: And I'll let all these layoffs and everything.

Speaker 3: So yeah, it's also I mean, you know, we'll talk

about this later. It's fighting games that's interesting. Uh, there's

there's probably some room for there. Both we see all

that sort of come out like that Invisible Versus Invincible

Versus Studio I think had a lot of layoffs to SKO.

Speaker 1: We're going to talk about that in.

Speaker 4: The people go on the Invisible Versus team.

Speaker 3: Right, So it could be a hard feel to break into.

I think the good news is that I think a

one v one fighter like that would be pretty palpitable

and the yeah thing kind of does its own thing,

but yeah, that could be a good option.

Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's definitely my first thought as one.

Mica is where it's like the fighting game space felt

like it felt it was very hot for a moment,

and I'm sure in many ways it still is, but

it's not so hot that it is boundless, Like there

is no territory in which you cannot go with the

fighting game where it will not succeed. It's like, obviously

some of these games are going to continue to miss

and we've seen that. I mean, to your point, two

x KO Dev's development is ending in December. They aren't

going to close down the servers necessarily at all, but

at least for the foreseeable future. But there will no

be be no more live updates for that game, which

is was intended to be a live service game that

got updates, you know, like all of Riots games, and

they're gonna make.

Speaker 2: All the fighters, the characters free, all of them.

Speaker 3: Is that the case, well, because it was yeah, I

mean no point, Yeah, because the point of the game

was supposed to be it's a free to play game

and you get the rotation of free rotation for characters, right.

Speaker 4: Yes, you play and you unlock them like uk you

can play that. You can't play any character in that

game without paying money if you just needed to like

slowly unlock them.

Speaker 3: Right, it's either the grinder you just you pay to

unlock them, right. Yeah, it's it's like it's the League

of Legend system. It's exactly that. Boy, that this one

is so interesting me because I thought the excitement for

two x KO was so high for a while there,

and then that excitement seems to die off, maybe like

years before the game.

Speaker 4: Yeah, they fumbled out Ryan, that was right straight, Yeah,

fumbling the back there because they went that hit one

point Z. Nobody knew that that game hit one point. Yeah,

they didn't tell anyone. They didn't do any like events

or anything like they did with the other like spin

off game, the card games they have a whole thing

for They were like, yeah, come play the thing. Even

they're outside Ryo Games where they have like teams making

these platformers games. They did a bunch of stuff for us,

and for two s KO they didn't do ship. They

didn't do any marketing or anything. So I think this

is definitely all right because the game is like one

of the best fighting games ever. Like I love that

game is so good, it's so much fun and it's

so approachable to That game had everything. But I don't know,

Ryoshus like lost faith on it for some reason.

Speaker 5: I don't know.

Speaker 1: There's I mean they kind of did.

Speaker 3: They're like their own post mortem when they said this,

And I've seen maybe the sentiment for some people that

maybe the gay had a bit of identity crisis of

it wants to be like super open for casuals, Like

they want to bring in this bigger audience.

Speaker 1: So that's like the simple inputs and things like that.

Speaker 3: But it's also still like a little bit of a

you know, combo heavy tag fighter, right, and that of

course appeals to the hardcore a lot.

Speaker 1: But then you know, you're you're a new player this thing.

Speaker 3: Maybe you're hoping with something like Smashbur's, I don't know,

and suddenly you're in a twenty combo sequence. Maybe that

throws you off. So I'm not sure exactly. I think

the name also probably din't help. There's probably a lot

of little things there. The name is bad, but boy,

it also makes you wonder about like right in general,

who like, yeah, they got League of Legends, but this

was supposed to be another pillar that MMO, I haven't

heard anything about that.

Speaker 4: Yeah, people Team Fight Tactics, Yeah people see Yeah, it's

very popular. Opportunity TFT. This is Yeah. The thing is

also Leo of Legend is it's lowing down to the

They used to release champions every three four months. Now

they only do one every six months, so even leg

of Legend is kind of Yeah, it's low and so I.

Speaker 3: Don't know how many more characters can we add to

how many to play Jinx and Misfortune and Ari anyways, Right,

so gosh, I do I wonder what the future of

right is? And gosh, I mean I remember, you know

when they when they this was seth Killian's thing. They

bought his company and they were making that robot game,

And I mean, I wonder if that whole team is

just gone from there. Now it's a it's it's it's

kind of a shocking development. Again, there seemed like this

was supposed to be a big deal and it just didn't.

Speaker 1: Figure it out. Happened could not figure it out? You

know that said I the fate of two x KO

it does feel very specific to that game. It's not

like I think this is going to be represent of

like oh and now Killer and Stink better watch out

Killer and Stink. We just it's going to have its

complete own path. It could fail, but it'll be probably

due to its own fan lanes.

Speaker 2: If that's the case.

Speaker 1: If it is Iron Galaxy coming back to make more

of that, I think a lot of people are going

to be very happy. The Fighting Committy would be very

very happy.

Speaker 3: Yes, they'll have them immediately, and they do like their

quiet work to get everyone else excited about they should

have something.

Speaker 2: Should it be free to play again?

Speaker 1: Yep?

Speaker 5: Yeah, for you to play was what made clar Instane

twenty thirteen so popular, Like it's sort of flew under

the radar because it was an Xbox exclusive on the

Xbox one generation, but on the Xbox One it did

very well, like all things considered for the platform. It

is because it wasn't the game that people were necessarily

going out to buy an Xbox four, But if you

bought an Xbox why would you not just download and

play it? And because it was so goddamn fun, a

lot of people actually stuck with it and just played

it free to play for quite a while.

Speaker 1: Like recognizingle I remember to Frink come over stay with

me for a week, and uh I was working a

little bit, you know, working at home, and so my

he just I got all these games on the Xbox

and he booted up Killer Instinct because he recognized it

and then he had a ton of fun with it.

Speaker 5: It's like and also the worked the presentation drew people in,

like you bring people in with the name, they fire

it up, and that Mike Gordon's soundtracks starts playing right

from the gig game and they're like, oh, this game

is awesome, like the presentations everything there, and.

Speaker 3: They could do you know, the last game there was

a bit of like it almost kind of became a

little bit of the Xbox Smash Brothers. A lot of

guest characters. Yeah, you could put Diablo and Warcraft characters

into this thing now, right, things like that, some overlaped

characters in there.

Speaker 4: The fight, the fight of what's the call? The the

AI that will learn how you play and we'll play

like you that.

Speaker 3: I still think Darshadow stuff, Yeah, yeah, she.

Speaker 4: Was so good people people don't remember that, but I

love that ship and.

Speaker 5: Killer Instinct also has something that like the big problem

with two x KO like to loop this background a

little bit. The biggest problem to XKO, I think is

that they tried to get a casual market with none

of the stuff that casual people want in a fighting

game because all two XKO, all two XKO was was

a game where you would hop in and just go online,

because that's basically all there was in the beta, and

especially other stuff. Yeah, no story mode, No, I think

they didn't even have an arcade mode in beta.

Speaker 3: I don't know about one point zero. It's like we

all know why the Mortal Kombat reboot like did.

Speaker 5: So right cinematic story mode. Yeah, and so they tried

to get casual people in and may free you play

to bring them in and or anything like that, but

it didn't have any of that stuff that casual players

want to play. They don't want to be a job

like you know, all of us sickos like me and

Christian who played, know that they want to hop in,

play like a video game and hop out and that

sound that Killer Instinct actually had, Like even a free

to play video game had a story mode that you

could play and everything like that. It was a little basic,

you know, like Maximilian actually did some of those cut

scenes and so we just like put some renders together,

like did slow pans and ship, but was still a

story mode. It was still single player content that people

could fuck around with and not to worry about just

going online game. They're ass kicked. And that's all the

experience was that they had all things that they do.

I think developers need to be more mindful of that.

Speaker 1: Uh t J Combo is an all time character name

just wanted to make sure that yeah, well well understood

on this show and elsewhere.

Speaker 4: Who's going to make this game? If it's to make

VM may though like it was was, Yeah.

Speaker 1: It feels like it's like it feels like Oro Galaxy

like lines up in some ways. I mean not in always,

but you know, yeah, they got done with Rumble Verse.

And around that time is when I remember hearing that

like Microsoft wanted Killer Instinct, they wanted to come back,

but they were looking for a partner to make it with.

And it's like, well, no, Iron Galaxy's busy with the

with the Rumble Verse. I'll wait, no they're not. Maybe

that'll happen. And now it's been several years. At this point,

it feels like, okay, this could be.

Speaker 2: Ready to go.

Speaker 1: Tony Hawk in the Middle, yep.

Speaker 5: This was long ago, long ago enough that that's even

industry secret. Phil was pretty open about that. When people

ask himbody, he's like, hey, we just don't have the

right person right now. And just coincidentally, you know, Epic

decided to shut down Rumble Verse. I would not be

surprised if you just made a phone call and said, hey,

you guys want to.

Speaker 1: Yep, yeah, and they you know, Iron Gouxie was always

still doing its work for higher stuff like yeah, Tony

Hawk and several other things. But they had the capacity

to produce their own games, as proven by Rumble Versus.

Now they've had some layoffs. That's the part of It's like, Okay,

if they were really working on this, would they have

done that? But yeah, because they also have all these

contracts that seem to be drying up in other parts

of the business.

Speaker 3: So they also helped with those ports of Black Ops

Wanted too that apparently made a zillion dollars.

Speaker 1: So yes, number one best selling game of July twenty

twenty six, twenty twelve's Call of Duty Black Ops.

Speaker 3: So maybe because I'm a little bit of a windfall

from that stupidity.

Speaker 4: But hey, I mean, all right now, ecual if we're

getting that bay But like those games though.

Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's inexplicable in some ways and in

other ways I kind of get it. All right, that

doesn't for the headlines. Let's go ahead and take a break.

When we come back, we'll do the super chats. We'll

be right back after this, all right, Mike, Let's get

to those super chats, please.

Speaker 3: Okay, dokie, let's see here starting op. We got Mike

from Saskatchewan says Mike, have you ever had scurvy from.

Speaker 1: Lack of fruit?

Speaker 4: No?

Speaker 1: Believe it or not.

Speaker 3: I don't think people know how modern nutrition works. I

don't know scurvy.

Speaker 1: You get enough vitamin C from a bowl of Lucky

Charms to avoid scurvy for like three months?

Speaker 3: Like, come on, come on, come on, come on. Taco

bell Mat says, just want to say thanks to the

dusk Buds.

Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, right, good one.

Speaker 3: Dave's Pie says, warn't spectory tyring got me thinking about

immersive simps and how there hasn't been a great one

in a while. Do we think Judas is still a

real game? I mean they're making Judas right, that's uh,

that is happening for sure. Trying to think, like, you know,

we still get these games or once, like has the

Elements of Death Loop was immersive sim Like what the

last one everybody really loves Dishonored Dupe.

Speaker 4: I was about to say, Mike, you know what I

was about to say, Yeah, Disoner to the game from

like ten years.

Speaker 1: Ago, right, yeah, I mean Pray twenty seventeen is the

other one, and that's uh, that's you know, twenty seventeen,

so yes, ten years ago basically, right, right, So it's

been a bit.

Speaker 3: I feel like there's always like some of these that

are coming. You know, there's a new bioshot coming about

bioshocks like is sim elements weren't always like as intense

as others, but still uh yeah.

Speaker 1: Harvey from God Harvey Smith, who worked on lots of

immersive sims and they got laid off as part of

Microsoft closing down a bunch of studios. They announced they

were starting a new studio this week to make immersive sims.

So like that, I think we could get a little

bit of a renaissance here pretty soon.

Speaker 3: Let's see here now, Pokey says, how many clones could

you scent to visit Dan before he start to notice?

You notice the first clone and then try to exploit

it for labor and money?

Speaker 1: Right, Well, the clone is trying to do that exact

same thing to him, right but like he he he

won't lose the clown, of course, no, he will never

get severance except for the good severancing.

Speaker 3: I'll be Borne says, that's what is the second Kirby

Air Riders like game on switch to what's the next

ipoor developer?

Speaker 1: You want to make a Kirby Air Riders like game.

Speaker 3: It is funny how much it sounds like City Trials.

Speaker 1: City Trials, Yeah, and all these games.

Speaker 3: Like the first two rounds and mostly just getting powerful

so that you can win the final round.

Speaker 1: One of the most influential games of all time. Kirby

Air Riders.

Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think they're going to reboot specops

the line with it's gonna be a Kirby Air Riders

like that.

Speaker 1: It's a matchmate and having peanut butter and chocolate.

Speaker 4: Yea, getta do war crimes to and get to the m.

Speaker 3: The T bucket says which enemy is? Which enemy in

a game? Is angrier, the angry Son or the angry

TV from cyber till I don't even know if I

registered that the TV was angry before.

Speaker 1: It's got an angry face. But it's just like if

you were in that world, you'd be angry too, So

I just don't know. Like the Angry Son, like you're

a sun, You're flying around, it's a beautiful Mario level.

What are you so angry about?

Speaker 2: So?

Speaker 1: I think it's the Angry Sun.

Speaker 3: Next up is from excuse me, Jad Camp do the

giveicks no about I don't say a new lie.

Speaker 1: It's a real art if.

Speaker 3: You see this is that incredibly cheaply made Chinese movie

that has made like a zillion dollars. I think it

cost them two hundred dollars to make or something that's

the budget, and it's become this weird hit.

Speaker 1: It's very very disturbing looking. Uh, they have not asked

about it, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

So yeah, there you go. Next up, steph is Deddy.

Speaker 3: My power has gone out for the second time since

the storm last week in Indiana, So thanks for keeping

me company in the dark.

Speaker 1: Appreciate you guys.

Speaker 2: You're welcome. Thanks you get your power back.

Speaker 3: You know what they say about power, They say that

hoverboards don't work on water unless you've got power.

Speaker 1: Use you have power? Right, sure, yes, I'm not sure

if you're going to go with back to the Future,

you're going to go with a relation to your energy song.

Speaker 3: But all right, now, power those are two different things.

They are two different things, exactly. They are actually two

different things. Epica Rosa's Tides of Annihilation and Phantom Blade

look great. Stellar Blade and Blackman they're also good. The

play action game dev is Asian Center. Now, oh yeah,

it seems oh yeah, they definitely. Yeah, they're doing they're

doing a ton of network over there.

Speaker 1: A lot of people who grew up on those kinds

of games in China and Japan obviously, but yeah, the China,

and they're like, hey, we want to make console games ourselves,

because that's what got us into the industry. We've made

a lot of money making mobile games or whatever else,

and we want to show our stuff in good form.

Speaker 2: Good on them.

Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah.

Speaker 3: I saw a little bit of the Phantom Blade zero

uh data play they did, and yeah, the game looks fun.

The game absolutely looks fun.

Speaker 1: Did you see anything from the new Blackmouth stuff? I

maybe saw a couple of seconds. I'm like, oh, yeah,

that looks good.

Speaker 3: When I missed, uh Brandy Brandy says you quick maps

got me wanting to make my own again. Started many

but never finish one. Can you please tell me get

off my ass and finish a GD level.

Speaker 1: Get off your ass to finish GD level?

Speaker 5: Do it?

Speaker 1: Finish a goddamn level? Come on, what's your problem? Yeah?

Speaker 3: We should make a Doom one level, man, that should

be Yeah, we should maybe like.

Speaker 1: That could be that could be a stream, right, it

could be a premium show where we work together and

make a premium uh Doom level.

Speaker 3: That'd be great, Matt, Folks should play the Zork series.

Ignore fake sort how dare you call it?

Speaker 1: We have enough room for all. All Zorks are beautiful.

Speaker 4: Yes, there disgusting?

Speaker 2: What is this?

Speaker 1: Yeah?

Speaker 3: Yeah, fix your hard time fin a true Zork. Mike

Manati Zombie Board says the We're clearly never one, but

thoughts on blood hand Jan, Yeah, I like that he

looks kind of sleepy, like he's wearing pajamas and then

like everything happens they put on a helmet and grabbed

his axe and is just going out there.

Speaker 1: So yeah, like if there's Jan like that a lot

and it could be yond, I don't care. No, it's

Jan Long John's is always a good look. It's always

so funny to me to see him grown man in

Long John's Let's.

Speaker 3: See You're next up is ep idiot boxes This dudes,

I'm going to Japan for the first time a few days.

Any games that won't kill my Steam deck debt battery

that you recommend for the long flight. I mean, if

you haven't played Terror Tech Legion and like those kind

of auto battler thingis at all that, That's when I

thin could give you a lot of enjoyment on a.

Speaker 1: Plane that shouldn't take up too much battery life. Honestly,

Blood Dungeons should be out by around that time. It's

not like I think the twenty fifth. You can play

the demo. Just play that for a while and then

the demo carries over to the final game. So yeah,

go grab the demo and play that, and that won't

use the time you can. I bet you'd be able

even to turn down your total drawpower your TDP to

a very low number, and that would make your battery

go even further.

Speaker 5: So yeah, something like that, honey pop Let's see here now.

Speaker 3: The next one, excuse me, is from Crypto Cody, and

that's not on your radar, but check out the Sinking

City too. It's resumeable two style survival whore at fourteen

hours and is getting rave reviews from critics. I sink

a little bit of this buzz. It certainly does kind

of look pretty cool. Just came out a couple days ago. Yeah,

maybe I should just check this out. Definitely has pretty

strong Resident Evil vibes for Strick.

Speaker 1: The guy's got like a trench code and a hat.

He looks cool. He looks like a detective. Yeah, he

looks like a character from like like a nineties survival

horror game that's not Resident Evil, but the game does

look like Residue Evil.

Speaker 3: What it's what's like again? Like I don't don't remember

them first. I remember the first Sinking City very much.

It seems like people did like that one as well.

But I just feel likely been getting these like sequels

to like games that are like people like the sequel

a lot, right, like Mortals Shows too, right, But this

is like, uh, this is Frogware, and they they just

make games regardless of what you think is happening with them.

Speaker 1: They made so many of those Sherlock Holmes games. Oh,

they just they do their thing. Yeah, I see, I

see cool. Uh.

Speaker 3: Next up is toy moraws Man. Is the game industry

just cooked the ness? I mean there's a resiliency to

the games industry, right.

Speaker 1: So, I mean the people that want to make games

are going to find a way to keep making games.

Speaker 2: I definitely you know.

Speaker 1: I'm Matt Fisktel on Game this morning this morning, and

we had a we had a report for July, and yeah,

things are grim in a lot of ways. But when

we talk about that, it's almost always always the perspective of, man,

it's this business going to make sense for those big

corporations that have sort of been the mainstay for a

long time.

Speaker 2: Maybe not.

Speaker 1: Maybe they lose interest. Maybe they thought they were going

to have all these major lottery tickets with live service games,

and now it's obvious they won't, and they're going to

be shy about wanting to go back to just scraping

out some profit margins here and there on games. So yeah,

maybe they do lose their lust for this industry, and

so be it like this, like that, there's going to

be so many people that want to make games because

they love making games.

Speaker 2: We're gonna be fine. Also shuts out to big Tony.

Speaker 1: I've followed you on social media because you are a

Lincoln member or Tubman member or whatever.

Speaker 3: We have it last ye and says what were the

twelve live service services Sony was planning. Believe it or not,

Most of them were sequels to Destruction All Stars.

Speaker 1: Yeah, Destruction All Stars like Uno and Destruction All Stars Carcassone.

They just made a bunch of different board games.

Speaker 3: Yeah, they never announced all of these or anything.

Speaker 1: We don't know what.

Speaker 2: We don't know what they're yep, and we don't, I.

Speaker 3: Mean obviously like this, Horizon one was presumably one of them,

as was dek Got of War one that was canceled

and stuff like that. Yep, I am crease, he says. Sorry,

I never watched Lives. This applies to then tend Dogs podcasts.

But a lot of the splatfests introduced new exclusive colors.

That's why things like Malo Malo Mayo Sorry it said

Malo again. That's why things like Mayo one for reasons.

Speaker 1: I'm sure you can't imagine those.

Speaker 2: Do you remember this?

Speaker 1: Now versus Comesplat.

Speaker 2: Just like it always does.

Speaker 3: They couldn't just why didn't they do Mustard? Why wasn't

it catchup and Mustard? That like, right, absolutely Mayo disgusting?

Ah God, the Derek says, don't worry. The League of

Legends TCG Ritbound is super popular. I'm not sure why

the TCG got away with a bad name and not

the fighting game. I think rip Bound maybe benefited a

bit from that space being a little barren like Carstones

doing its thing, but hasn't been an extent.

Speaker 4: The TCG. It's not the it's not the one the

West legions of room Terra.

Speaker 1: So I'm mixed up. Then, Okay, so rift Band is

really the physical one.

Speaker 2: Huh h Is there no digital Riftbound?

Speaker 1: No that I know?

Speaker 4: Okay, crazy have two different games?

Speaker 2: No, I know, I'm sure they're two different games, but

I just wonder if a digital.

Speaker 3: They based each other, because like Herstone was originally kind

of made off the bones of an actual physical TCG,

and like a lot of heartwork was reused and stuff

like that. Interesting U Corona Rick says, hey, dogs, because

like you said, the other two maps are different time periods.

What time period do you think they choose Roman times

for the future. Oh, I didn't really realize. There's the

whole thing not going to have that kind of Victorian

werewolf kind of vibe. Huh, I mean it would be

interesting one do you think one is just going to

be uh medieval and uh the other one could be

maybe more destrial revolution. I mean, these characters still have

that kind of I don't know, I guess they could

be all sorts of things.

Speaker 1: I know that I look at them.

Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe Roman would be one because like, yeah, one

guy's just a robot.

Speaker 2: I would take the future, I think.

Speaker 3: Cool.

Speaker 1: Yeah, sure not future.

Speaker 3: We'll see next up is Fire, says shout out to

Shadows of Doubt as a great indie.

Speaker 1: Uh immersive sim Shadows of Doubt don't.

Speaker 2: Know YESO much. This is uh, this is a game

that I'm I was super into.

Speaker 1: It is a couple of years murder mystery, uh investigator game,

but it's a it's procedurally generated, so someone will do

a crime and and then all like the clues and

pieces will be sort of spread around town and you

need to investigate things and figure out how it happened.

And it's all Vauxel base so they can kind of

build these towns each time. It's it's super cool.

Speaker 3: Uh ge Nijo, thank you for sending out five gifted

memberships to the to their YouTube premium and thank you

so much.

Speaker 1: Uh.

Speaker 3: Shaggy Crow says, so Crunchy Role, who's owned by Sony,

puts a store behind a higher tier subscription and got

rid of all the physical manga and anime Blu Rays

by this Sony hate selling stuff. That was That was

the weird one.

Speaker 5: Man.

Speaker 3: It's like, you can't access the store to buy I

think unless you give us more money up front, ye monthly.

That's strange.

Speaker 4: I would have there that like if we made people

hard way too for them to buy physical, they would

just upset our shitty subscription. Maybe that's what's the reason.

Speaker 1: That we find I mean, so you know, it goes

back to the CFO saying the same thing. It doesn't

just apply to PlayStation. Let's make more money from our

most dedicated users. So these are the people that want

to spend the most money. Let's make sure we have

fully captured in a ecoss.

Speaker 4: There's no other like fan culture that's more inclined to

paracy than the anionfs. So I think that's a lost

bottle for them. The more the fun with it.

Speaker 2: But I think they think like the merch is something

that they do want. But I don't know, I think

you're still right.

Speaker 4: Even yeah, no, even the march is like people are

going to make their own I bet you yeah.

Speaker 1: Yeah.

Speaker 3: Uh crypto code, he says, sinking city to a standalone

no relation to part one.

Speaker 1: Okay, that's it.

Speaker 3: I looked, it looks like it looks like the main

character in the first one looked similar at least. But yeah,

it makes sense, like you don't want people to feel

like I got to play the first one. I bet

a lot of people are playing Mortal Show too who

never played Mortal Show.

Speaker 2: Yeah. Absolutely.

Speaker 3: And then toy Morale says, Sony is telling me that

they really don't want my money. At every corner. I

really started buying Blu rays again. And of course no

more disks. It is it is always funny and you're like, oh, right,

they invented blue rays. Yeah, they're like the DVD is popular.

I'm then responsible for a lot of that tech technological innovation.

They were one of the major players in the consortium

for all of them. Yeah, and they're ready to just

move on because, e who cares that's technology.

Speaker 1: We're an entertainment company. Now, good luck with that.

Speaker 3: And then Edson, who has been a Lincoln membor eight month,

says the Big Walk content and Giant Bond has been

amazing utter chaos, He nests, Yeah, we've been loving playing

Big Walk.

Speaker 1: It's been so much fun.

Speaker 3: Sean's done amazing work doing the live cuts and the

live editing the game has just been an absolute pleasure

to play.

Speaker 1: Yep, every time we have a better time than the

time before. So yeah, I'm really looking forward to getting

back and doing it some more a week after next.

And that is if for super chats. Thank you so

much everyone. If you still want to send a super chat,

you can do so. We will read it before the

end of the show. Thank you so much. All right,

thank you, Mike, Thank you everybody for sending in those

super chats. As Mike said, sending in more. We'll talk

about whatever you want to talk about before we're done,

so yeah, let's make that happen. In the meantime, we're

going to go to another break so we can get

set up for the Hat. We're going to be deciding

what is the greatest blank of all time? And the

hat shall fill in the blank. Right after this, we'll

be right back. All right, we're chugging right along here.

We've done our super chats. We talked about the news,

and that means we are obligated to do our deciding

for this episode of the Decides podcast. And to help

us facilitate that, Mike Minatti has brought out the hat

Hat Hat all right, that hike it away, Mike.

Speaker 2: What do we do now?

Speaker 3: I've got this RB's gallon hat, and in it is

a bunch of pieces of paper that have a word

or phrase written on that can go inside the sentence

What is the greatest blank of all time?

Speaker 1: I put a lot of things in here.

Speaker 3: The community has given some suggestions, are you know, preatrid

members and YouTuber our premium community members. So let's get going.

Let's see what we got. Haven't hadded any new ones

this time, so there's plenty in here. So I'm curious

if any of these, uh, will be familiar, might be weird.

I don't remember what's in here at this point.

Speaker 1: Let's see. Let's start off with, Oh, that's interesting, Okay,

who or what is the greatest cyborg.

Speaker 5: Of all time?

Speaker 2: Okay?

Speaker 1: I mean my first thought goes to that cybernetic organism, uh,

the terminator terminator? Yeah, pretty yes, maybe they're specifically the

T two terminator I guess. Well, okays off, let's get

into this. What's the cyborgs? Different?

Speaker 3: Android is a robot made to look human, doesn't have

that doesn't have any organic parts. I think a cyborg

is generally something that started as a yes, and that

got transplanted to various degrees, sometimes very intensely be a

robotic cyborg person.

Speaker 1: And in that context, Terminator is just kind of all

robot really yeah, no, I mean well yeah, I mean

he describes himself as a cybernetic organism.

Speaker 2: But I think you're right.

Speaker 1: I think that there is a distinction still between because

I think you're right, like the strict definition of a

cyborg is a human who has been augmented by technology

to improve and or keep him alive.

Speaker 2: So then Darth Vader is a cyborg.

Speaker 1: I think cyborg. Okay, he's the greatest cyborg, but he's

probably up there because like you.

Speaker 3: Think, you think, you think Seth, you think villain, even

before you think of like what is what is Darth Vader?

Speaker 1: Cyborgs not the word that comes up first. Yeah, And

it's like, you know, I don't think this is inherently

true with like oh, because he'd got those robot parts

that made him more or more evil and less human.

But that's the that's the thinking of the story that

was intended in the story, whereas you know, RoboCop was

like they tried to make him less human so he

would be a more perfect cop because humans are don't

make If you're actually human, have humanity, you're would to

make a great cop.

Speaker 2: And his humanity still burst forth.

Speaker 1: And he could not help but be that, which I

think is maybe the ideal personification of the cyborg idea.

Speaker 3: Yeah, RoboCop is obviously a really good one, almost like

the first one I think of when you say the

Lord Cyborg.

Speaker 1: Honestly other good ones.

Speaker 3: I know she's called Android, and I what to say that,

but yeah, she's started as a human.

Speaker 1: That's why she's able to have a baby.

Speaker 3: It turns out right, and now this was like, you know,

who's the greatest battie of all times? She might have

it pretty easily. But yeah, we like Android eighteen a lot.

I think seven of nine for Star Trek. Okay, what

what do you think of Cyborg the character from the

DC comics, from like Team Titans, things like that.

Speaker 1: I'm always like anything, I don't think about them all

that much, but I think that is my failing. I'm

I understanding these people love that character.

Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, here's here's a Star Wars one that's maybe

even more cybor Code dar Vader is general grievous.

Speaker 2: Okay, General Grievous.

Speaker 1: I was like, I'm thinking lobot, but all right, said, like,

oh shit, low bot, which lobot is maybe a little

bit too much, like like too much because lobot, I

realized recently was short for lobotomy, and I'm like, all right,

that bums me out. I don't like that.

Speaker 2: Mad General Grievous is a lot of fun.

Speaker 5: I love.

Speaker 1: That's one of my favorite pars about.

Speaker 3: The powers, like both flavors. I like him in the

cartoon where he's like an actual threat. I like it,

but he's kind of a stupid dufe movie right, he's

got that cough man. Yeah, yeah, cool character design. Honestly,

in General Grievous, it's probably robo cop though. Robo cop

Yeah all right, robo cop is the greatest cyborg of congratulations. Alrighty,

let's see what else we got in this hat. Just

like sometimes the sometimes the slip picks me, you know,

just kind of it just jumps in your hand. Yeah, okay,

who is the greatest living Canadian of I guess currently

this time?

Speaker 1: Do you know who?

Speaker 5: Mg muscles? Oh?

Speaker 1: Matt, Okay, Matt mcmuscles is up there on my brain

immediately went to John Candy. But John Candy's dead, right right,

he does not he does not count. But similar vain

Rick moranis, Oh god, I love Rick moranis. I love

it and I'd love it. Was like, oh, I love

your films. I love that he stopped doing films to

raise his family like that, right, yeah.

Speaker 3: Other, he just like came back where it's not something

like he's like he's gone for a while and I

was back. I'm super excited to see him back. When

I was a kid, I was always so excited to

see him in things. He's just in all these good movies.

I need to watch Strange Brew very badly. I really

want to watch that. I mean it's like weird ones

like Jim carries a lot even for me sometimes, right yeah, yeah,

I fine, I like him fine, But yeah, he's he's

a lot in terms of like, oh he will date

Jenny McCarthy and maybe flirt with like anti vax stuff

and and things like that. Seems to have a lot

of like ideas about health uh and concerns uh celem Dion.

Speaker 1: Like good, right, she's got a voice. She's pretty good.

That Titanic song.

Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I feel like she's the last person had

like a percent had a residency in Vegas and I

heard about it and like like right in the vein

of like an Elvis, you know, I feel like that's

impressive to me. Uh, y'all love Reves for sure. I

don't know if I love Keanos, which is Rick Rice.

I bet that's like a boomer take for sure, but yeah,

boy do it's your hat?

Speaker 1: Yeah yeah.

Speaker 3: Uh, there's the wrestlers, there's a there's Kenny Omega. Somebody said,

someone just said Alex Trebek, I have bad news for them.

Speaker 2: Yeah.

Speaker 3: The hit Man heart uh yeah, yeah, I mean even

when he's like a whiner and he is, it's kind

of love when he was one of the.

Speaker 2: Best whiners that's ever been.

Speaker 1: Yeah, everything about like how Goldberg's and unsafe for it's

the kind of it's cute. I don't know, I find

it sort of incredible for I want to make it

he sucks, just straight up he sucks. Yeah, Yeah, absolutely,

I'm definitely lean Rick Maran for me right now, trying

to think there's like any like.

Speaker 3: Non like I don't know, super celebrity ones.

Speaker 5: I don't know.

Speaker 1: I mean I did look like I did feel bad

that we're like they're Canadians from our entertainment. There is

a living scientist, doctor Watt Wilder Penfield, who was a neurosurgeon,

and he apparently did a great job at helping people

treat epilepsy. And uh hey, shout out to him. That's yeah,

he was not in Spaceball, Like he didn't shrink any

goddamn kids. Get back to me what he does?

Speaker 3: All right, Yeah, it's it's it's it's ranas.

Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Rick Moranas.

Speaker 1: Absolutely.

Speaker 3: I'm always excited to see how long we go with

this before getting a video game.

Speaker 1: What I think?

Speaker 3: I think, I phil it's in the bottom here once

I shack get up. I think it's at the very

bottom of the hat. Got it can't hide from me.

Speaker 1: So there we go. Okay, well, kinds of who that's

the greatest Goku of all time? Hm hm oh man, Okay, well.

Speaker 4: What were we talking?

Speaker 1: Just any like Goku? He's like, do you like kid Goku?

Do you like Super Saiyan Blue?

Speaker 4: Go cue and counts as there have Goku.

Speaker 1: I think they're kind of go kus, I think, but

I was like a little bit more than Yeah, you're right, Yeah,

I definitely.

Speaker 3: I like kid Goku a lot because he's a little sticker,

and I think I like kid Goku. Yes, uh like

run around with his dog hanging out, just causing problems.

Speaker 2: That's a great character.

Speaker 3: I don't know if any of the Dragon Ball Super

Gokus have done a lot for me, but just like

the characterization of Goku as like almost a brain dead

idiot now has been maybe a bit much. Sometimes I

like when he's hungry. That's when he's hungry. I think

that I think the super saying blue thing looked neat.

I don't think the red hair did anything for me.

Ultra instinct that's okay. I mean the original Super Saiyan's great.

I also kind of I also like the weird earlier

dragon Balls, like Kao Ken heavy focused Goku, adult Goku

who's usually ko can a lot versus vegeta, and like

Doctor Wheeler in the World's Strongest stuff like that. I

kind of liked that Goku like father of a very

young son.

Speaker 4: That pre Super Saiyan Goku is pretty good.

Speaker 1: Yes, like just just pre super saying Yeah, that's that

is probably my Goku. Yeah, I don't know about Goku Black,

and sometimes I'm that one. I'm not sure.

Speaker 5: You're also Goku Black pretty fucking said the sight, the Sight,

come on.

Speaker 1: School, this is cool.

Speaker 3: He's just like She's like, I'm I'm Dragon Ball j

I'm like, all right, or Jacob, he's Super Saiyan Rose,

all right whatever. What's Capsule corp Goku? Is that just

Goku wearing capsule cork clothes? Because yeah, with the backward

he's had on with the like, I love, that's a

good outfit for for sure.

Speaker 5: I like.

Speaker 1: I like we try to look up some of the

forms I might have missed, which is there's a fucking lot. Uh.

This version of Goku wears the official Capsule Court logo

on his gi uh. I guess he's very powerful. Also,

I don't know. I don't know much about that one.

I don't know what's Zeno Goku.

Speaker 2: What's that one? Do anything about Zeno.

Speaker 1: Sino is like the super god of the world that

he's friends with. I believe.

Speaker 3: I don't know what Sino Goku form is, Like, what

do you how do you feel about with the now

two different versions of Super Saiyan for Goku that we've had.

Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, it's cool. It's always cool. I like it,

But I mean for me, it's like I I liked

it the first time he turned Super Saiyan and again

I like the character right before he turns Super Saying

more than any of that Super.

Speaker 3: Saying to be Goku's cool. They never really gave him,

like like he never won a major arc because.

Speaker 1: Of Super Saane three.

Speaker 4: You know.

Speaker 3: When you yeah, exactly, it's a bit of a little

bit of a problems.

Speaker 5: He doesn't have eyebrows. I don't trust that.

Speaker 1: Ye weird, it's a little weird. It's a little weird.

I think. I think I like Kid Goku.

Speaker 3: Yes, I like Young adult Goku, and maybe Super Saiyan

one Goku, and then maybe like Gojita.

Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm one hundred percent with Mike on all those choices.

Speaker 1: I saw I would just go Kid Goku. That one's

the funnest one.

Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like, that's like a fun dragon Ball thing

to say. Actually, original dragon Ball is the best.

Speaker 2: Right, yeah.

Speaker 1: Right, God affusion. Goku originated from the Japanese cinematic theme

park attraction.

Speaker 2: Man, there's too many Gokus.

Speaker 1: We gotta do something about it.

Speaker 3: Uh, all right, the greatest Goku ever is Kid Goku.

I like that he like, you know, he wasn't he

wasn't all powerful. He had to have a cloud to fly,

and he had a to help them fight, you know,

and tools.

Speaker 5: Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 3: Alrighty, let's get back into this hat picking one from

the top this time.

Speaker 1: Push things up.

Speaker 2: Here we go.

Speaker 3: I feel like this is gonna be a good one. Okay,

all right, this is this video game. What is the

greatest Super Smash Brother stage of all time? Hm, first Destination? Yeah,

this is I definitely have some you know, I will

admit to being a little bit of kind of a

born guy where I do like the levels a lot,

where it's like, here's a base platform, but then maybe

three floating platforms above it. I do like foul destination.

I think it is better when there are some platforms.

Doing the whole super flat thing is fun sometimes, but

like my favorite is usually even Fountain of Dreams, which

was introduced in Melee, because it has like the platform

something they move, two of them move slightly up or

down sometimes and that's like a little bit of diem

but not too much.

Speaker 1: Very pretty. It's got great music.

Speaker 3: Sometimes that reflection effect is a bit too intense. In

the newer games, it's a little distracting, but generally I'm

a big fan, big fan of that one. I don't

like some of the favorites like that, but like just

normal Battlefield, which is very vanilla three platform stage like

people like Pokemon Stadium two has always been a big

fan favorite as well.

Speaker 1: Right, uh h do you do you have any strong

feelings on the semer Sean?

Speaker 5: I think just because, like because of the memes, the

greatest is file Destination. Like if you asked me, like

what my favorite is, it probably is Cornaria. But I

think Foul Destination is just so insanely iconic, you know,

m hmm.

Speaker 2: Yeah.

Speaker 1: My memories are like immediately take me back to like

Hirol Temple and and yes and Cornaria and yes and

what was the the mother one? The earth Bound one?

I remember that all the time. No, I think on

Nett Yeah, yeah, those are ones are like stick in

my brain. But then you know you mentioned the other

ones obviously, uh A Fountain of Dreams is maybe actually

bigger than all those in my brain. I love Fountain

of Dreams. Right.

Speaker 2: Ah.

Speaker 3: There's some of the fun mean ones like poke Clots

all right, which like everyone was like, yeah, let's go

on poke floats just to really mess ship up here.

Speaker 5: I think a lot of them chat said pokea flows

and it makes me very upset. Yeah, they just garbage.

Speaker 3: Like there's like a lot of the newer lows. I

was feel like to say, like like there's a megamum

level and that's great. They're like in the middle of it.

The Yellow Devil shows up and fights. I'm like, it's

like a bit much. And they do let you turn

that stuff off a lot of the times now, but

still it's maybe a bit a bit much. I am

good with saying final destination Pornaria or Fountain of Dreams.

Those are my favorite final destination. Yeah, all right, we'll

just say final destinations. It's just always a good time chat.

There is a first destination. I'll prove it to you soon.

You just hang in there, you'll all see. You'll all see,

all right, everybody or shaking it up again. Let's see

what we got this time, and a couple are stuck together.

There we go, all right, what is the greatest memory

card of all time?

Speaker 1: Okay? I really like the feel of inserting a game

cube one, especially taking it and putting into the F

zero cabinet. The one time I did that. That was

more about the arcade cabinet, maybe a little bit, I

don't know. I like the GameCube memory card. I like

the Chumps four memory cards as well.

Speaker 5: Oh those things.

Speaker 3: Yeah, don't forget VMU though VMU is probably it isn't

it's got a little it is a little game boy

actually eight yep.

Speaker 1: It's like it's such a strange thing, but it's so

strange in a fun and cool way. And I don't

know how many of those little games that you would

put on there meant anything to anyone beyond the chow

garden stuff.

Speaker 2: Sure, but it doesn't matter.

Speaker 3: I still love it, even if even if like just

play Ross Cockup Too is just put the logo from

Ross's back the chore.

Speaker 4: I like that.

Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, like why not he plays in NFL

two K or whatever. Yeah, yeah, I liked.

Speaker 3: I liked the look and field a PS two memory

card as well. Sure, absolutely feels good. That feels good.

Speaker 1: But yeah, the vm U, it's just it's so interesting.

I love it.

Speaker 3: So I think that's a pretty easy It's that's pretty

bad one, all right. Next up, I can't even like

really remember what a Xbox member cars La because it

had that hard drive. He had the hard drive, right, Yeah,

it did have one, all right. Who is the greatest

Ghost of All Times? Similar to our cyborg one from

earlier Ghost of All Time? Jeff Grubb? How do you

feel about Casper the Friendly Ghost?

Speaker 2: I I like him.

Speaker 1: My understanding is though for a generation of millennial women

he was a sexual awakening.

Speaker 3: Recently, people were really attracted to Casper because he's because

I think of the friendliness.

Speaker 1: Yes, friendliness aspect of it, like he was he would

show up and not try to be a creep, and

they were like, well, that's curious. I like that. I

like Casper.

Speaker 2: I have nothing against Casper.

Speaker 3: Yeah, I liked those I liked that movie too quite

a bit. Actually, so I was. I was really into it.

Is space ghost an actual ghost?

Speaker 5: No?

Speaker 1: Really? Sorry, he doesn't know. I mean, listen, it's like

a It's like Batman's not a bat Damn.

Speaker 3: You're right, dude, Yeah, just LARPing as one ship.

Speaker 2: You just got to think about it, dude. Uh I

uh okay, I don't know if it is.

Speaker 1: He great.

Speaker 2: I love Slimmer.

Speaker 1: Slimerlerlimer the ghosts Ghost. Yes, he's the Ghostbuster ghosts, great design,

all of his sort of the manifestations of him in.

Speaker 2: The various media.

Speaker 1: Is the comedic sidekick. Yes, he's great in the movie

as just like that guy had fucked with Ray, but

he's excellent. The cartoon is the Ayes sort of the

comedic relief. It was awesome. How about Bruce Willis? Oh, yeah,

that's a good one in the sixth sense, sixth sense,

everybody the ghost you didn't know was a ghost. There's

something cool about that.

Speaker 3: I like, or or Patrick Swayze, who's our favorite live

action person as a ghost.

Speaker 1: I would actually go with Patrick Swayze in that in

that face off there between those two.

Speaker 2: What about what about King Hamlet from Hamlet?

Speaker 3: Oh, King ham that's a creepy it's a scary ghost.

I like someone's there's a h excuse me? Hamlet turns

out ghosts a real and it's your dad and we

wants could you try to talk to him?

Speaker 1: Let's see what he wants.

Speaker 2: We all don't like this.

Speaker 3: Huge one, huge one. Here's like an tender Booberry oh

from from the Booberry cover. Okay, yeah, right, yes, yes, yes, yes,

I love that.

Speaker 1: Great he's got he's got the fun like iconic ghost design,

but with a little some fun twists.

Speaker 3: It looks like he was maybe like I don't know,

musician all life or something. I don't know what's going on,

But I love Booberry. That is like one of my

That's maybe my favorite seasonal treat. Actually, I will take

myself against some Booberry.

Speaker 1: I don't know why.

Speaker 3: Why do I like the blueberry flavorite cereal? Doesn't make

any sense?

Speaker 1: But I love Booberry.

Speaker 2: The Ghost of Christmas Present, so okay, I'll see.

Speaker 1: I love Christmas Carol. Yeah, what's your favorite of those three?

What's my favorite?

Speaker 2: Well, maybe there's four of them.

Speaker 1: Maybe Jacob Marley, Yeah, Mary's kind of Jacob Marley is

a really good one. He's the most ghost code.

Speaker 3: The other one's almost more like angels or whatever, Like

are you sure?

Speaker 2: Yeah?

Speaker 1: But you know the Ghosts of Christmas yet to come

like that we can qualify, but I think I'm with.

Speaker 2: You still on Marley.

Speaker 3: Yeah, he's super ghostly. Then the Muppet version, what's Marlee

and Marley have that awesome song?

Speaker 2: I do like that?

Speaker 3: Marley Ovarus agreed, uh shoeless Joe Jackson from Field of Dreams, Oh, shit,

that's that's pretty good.

Speaker 1: Yeah, I like that. Yeah, that Man on Baseball movie,

that's that's a good times so that I can't not

cry when I think about that stuff. Man good movie.

I'll tell you who it's not, and it's because it's

because I had a traumatic experience with her.

Speaker 2: You were you were there, You're waiting for you.

Speaker 1: Actually moaning myrtle at Universal in the men's room, just

going to town. Making moaning sounds maybe very uncomfortable, So

it's not moaning myrtle.

Speaker 3: I used to like headless dig but uh yeah, if

I fuck all that anyway, Right, Okay, how about some

of these big video game ones.

Speaker 1: You got you know Boo or King Boo. You've got

the ghost from pac Man.

Speaker 3: There's a lot of uh there's Gangar and other Pokemon

ghosts and yeah doing anything for you.

Speaker 2: There's yeah, there's Yeah, there's the titular geist.

Speaker 5: I like.

Speaker 1: I like some of the Pokemon ghosts, but there's like

so many of them. It's that that's a fucking type.

I don't know if they think they stand out enough

to sort of some of the I think I'm going

with Slimmer over any of them.

Speaker 3: Slimer's pretty good. Uh, I think I think we are

both a little old for Danny Phantom, but that seems

like a popular one in chat. I did not watch

that show.

Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know her.

Speaker 3: You don't ya that was I think the Fairly Odd

Parents guy made more of like an action adventure show.

Speaker 1: If a kid is a ghost, how about okay? You

see I was kind of too old for Fairly Odd

Parents Phantom.

Speaker 4: Yeah, how about Psychomentos.

Speaker 3: Because he is, he's not dead, he could commune with

with ghosts? I think, yeah, will be Goldberg the ghost

the end.

Speaker 1: Is a ghost?

Speaker 3: Actually, I think I think that dude is a ghost,

but is not a ghost.

Speaker 4: Say here in Metal there before he's a ghost, they say.

Speaker 1: Oh god it who remembers what he does? A magus?

The psych like possesses.

Speaker 5: Christian.

Speaker 1: What about the Flying Dutchman, the ghost ship Captain or whatever. Yeah,

it's fucked up that I do. Think of the SpongeBob.

Speaker 2: It's not fund up, it's normal and cool.

Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I guess so boy.

Speaker 2: What about Abraham Lincoln?

Speaker 1: The Coast of Abraham Lincoln. Yeah, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln?

Pretty good?

Speaker 3: Oh, ghost strict fan detective. Yeah, Missile and that one.

Speaker 1: That's really good.

Speaker 3: I think here's the here's here's what I'm here's here's

what I'm thinking we're coming down to. I think we're

coming down to Slimer.

Speaker 2: Yeah.

Speaker 3: Uh, Jacob Marley, I love it. Yeah, Booberry and Casper

the friendly Ghost. All right, it's around Rushmore turns out

and I I'd be fine. I'd be fine with Slimmer.

Speaker 2: I think Slimmer's so iconic.

Speaker 1: I think it's for me. It's got to probably be

Little Puppet. Great, yes, yeah, exactly right, great special effect

in the movie. And then the animated character is awesome

as well.

Speaker 5: I want to do one more?

Speaker 2: Yeah, one more please?

Speaker 3: Alrighty, that's made some good, important decisions today. We didn't

talk about any of the shining and goes. Some of

them are racist though they make me uncomfortable. Yeah right, okay,

next up here? Oh geez, okay, what is the what

is the greatest Disneyland ride of.

Speaker 1: Hime?

Speaker 3: We didn't well, hey, you've been bollowing them too, now,

really I'm gonna get us say. I mean, I don't

think that there's anything I love that you don't because

I'm singing me Disneyland Park, not California Adventure. And the

best rides there are Indianron's Adventure, Rise of the Resistance,

you know, the Classics, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion,

Base Mounted big time. I'm a big, big thunder Mountain

fan as well. I will say Craig Cooster does not count.

Shanned up. That's over Califary Adventures. I think we're sitting

in Disneyland Park. Sorry, I I probably think it's Indiana

Jones Adventure, which is fantastic and uh, you know that's

that one we don't have a.

Speaker 1: Clone of in in Disney World per se, so that

part of it is neat as well. But like, you know,

what do you say, because russ Resistance is fantastic as well. No, yeah, yeah,

but I know I'll I will agree with the concept

of there is an exact clone of it on the

other side of the country, and maybe that takes doesn't

take away from it, but it does make Indiana Jones

feel that much more special. And boy do I love

Indiana Jones and I love that ride a whole bunch. Yeah,

what are some other ones? Big thunder Mountain Railroad it's

always so fun. That's a lot of fun.

Speaker 2: Is that it's just where Peter Pan is. I shoot

like Peter Pan quite a lot.

Speaker 1: Peter Pan's flight is in fact here. Yeah, yeah, Peter

Pan like peteran a lot.

Speaker 2: I would.

Speaker 3: I would go with Indiana Jones though Nicky May's run

Away Railway, but again like.

Speaker 4: Have that got it?

Speaker 1: I love Nicky Mini's run Away real love for fine,

I saying it's my family's favorite ride together collectively, we

love that the most.

Speaker 2: But yes, we did that at Disney World in Orlando.

Speaker 1: What do you what do you think of Mister Toad's

Wold Ride? I love it? Uh, it's uh, that's such

a it's such a weird ride. You get to go

to hell, which you need a little bit of after

spending all day in Disney, like you need to be

punished for your sins, and it's it's such a man.

Speaker 2: They made this in a certain time.

Speaker 1: They use what they had available to them, and you

could tell they were like using like kind of doing

everything they could with what they had, and they haven't

changed them a lot. So it has come back around

to being so different than everything else that I can't help.

Speaker 2: But adore it.

Speaker 1: It jars Me and Will had no idea go to

Hew in that, and we were very confused. Oh that's

very excited. Yeah, hey, what'd you guys think of that?

Speaker 5: We had no fucking idea. We looked at it, You're like,

what is happening.

Speaker 2: That rules?

Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's lots of great rides in a Disneyland,

of course, but I think Indiot Joe's Adventure is probably

my favorite. It feels all like Disneyland resort. That Car's

ride might be number one, honestly.

Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I love that one. I love the

cars area so much.

Speaker 2: But you know, it's like Indiana Jones stunt.

Speaker 1: It's a great ride, awesome effects, and then the Q

is really good because you always get you get to

do that thing with your career, probably with someone who

hasn't been on it before. You get to do the

bid of like don't stare at the eye, and you

get to have fun on the well here.

Speaker 4: Yeah.

Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like it's just it's immersive.

Speaker 3: There's you know a lot of it's mostly practical effects

and all looks cool, like when you're in that actual

giant temple.

Speaker 1: The scale of it is awesome. Yeah, it's a great

Davies shows up and tells you all about it and stuff.

Speaker 2: In a big screening room.

Speaker 1: Yeah, we love John. We love John. All right, he

made some good decisions today.

Speaker 3: Let me recap it for you. The greatest, the greatest

Cyborg of all time is RoboCop. The greatest living Canadian

is Rick moranis the greatest Goku is Kid Goku. The

greatest Super Smash Better stage is Final with the the

Nation greatest memory card is the VMU, greatest ghost is Slimmer,

and the greatest Disneyland ride is Indiana Jones at Adventure.

Speaker 1: We have decided so many We nailed it from this shot.

I was very proud of us as you went over

those again.

Speaker 2: That's that's all. All those were correct.

Speaker 3: We're getting pretty good at doing the hats bidding, that

is for sure.

Speaker 2: Excellent.

Speaker 1: Thank you, Mike, Thank you all for going along with

us on those many important decisions. Let's go out to

take one more break. When we come back, we'll talk

about what we've been playing right after this. All right, Mike,

what have you been playing? Well? Now, I've been checking

out Mortal Show two, which is a fun new souls

like I am enjoying a lot. Definitely.

Speaker 3: It feels good to play, right. It's you know, sometimes

you get these things like, oh, this isn't even close.

I'm like, this is pretty close, right, it's got enough

of the vibes doing its own thing with the shells.

It's kind of like your load out right. I'm not

to sall your weapon, but like your kind of special ability.

There's a few things that are just a little bit weird,

like the first show I got, of course, it's like

this one with just absolutely gigantic thighs and an ass

in armor on my eye.

Speaker 1: Right right, we're doing that. That's fine, right.

Speaker 3: So a guy wanted to wash my feet in milk

and like that. You know, at that point I was

like teasing a little bit. I'm like, I get it,

washing my feet. It's a humility thing and sometimes of

religious contations. But then afterwards he was like, basically that

made me horny. Yes, he had pictures of your feet,

is my understanding, right, And so then I was.

Speaker 1: Like, oh, okay, okay, I guess we're going to to I.

Speaker 3: Would say, like, you know, I played it. I played

a pretty good chuck of it like three hours and

I had not gone to like an awesome big boss.

Yet I fought a couple of bosses. But these Souls games,

it's like that's a big part of it, is like

these big Hallmark bosses and these awesome encounters.

Speaker 1: I always loved the early skill check I do. Yeah,

so I haven't really.

Speaker 3: Had that experience with it yet, and I'm sor I'm

sort of waiting waiting to get there where I really

get a sense of how much I'm enjoying. But like, yeah,

that first impression after that three hour playstession was was

pretty positive for one of these excellently.

Speaker 2: Yeah, I I would like to play some of it

at all.

Speaker 1: I'm gonna, I think, I'm what I'm gonna do is

I'm gonna keep working on some other games. Let you

keep playing a little bit more of it, and then

I will kind of get a good sense of like, oh,

is this something I'm really gonna need to play in

the next couple of weeks, and I'll decide at that

time if I will take time from other games to.

Speaker 2: Actually try it. I I played Twisted Tower. Do you

do you remember this one?

Speaker 3: I think it showed up in some event we watched,

but do you remember it? Looking it up now, I

don't immediately, I know I told you he was playing.

Speaker 1: It, yes, yes, so I started it, yeah, yesterday. So

I was excited to hear that he was playing it it. Well.

It is a first person shooter from publisher three D

Realms and Wow developer at most games, and it is

a it's a it's a shooter, ass shooter, boomer shooter,

but yeah, I would think it's definitely in the boomer

shooter genre.

Speaker 2: You start off, you're in like this, uh, this carnival,

this circus.

Speaker 1: There are some weird clowns and people wearing draft masks

and and all kinds of other stuff just waiting, and

the theme park is Halloween themed, or they at least

there's jack lanterns and stuff like that all over the place.

And the first weapon you get is your melee weapon.

You get the sort of big clown hammer that you

can use, and then you can pick up a pistol

and you're gonna need to get the AMMO for it.

Shoot it, and then when you run out, you sort

of return back to your hammer, and it's about getting

keys and going through doors, and I just think it's

it's really singing so far. It's been.

Speaker 2: It's not like one of these ones.

Speaker 1: It's like, hey, we're going to go through the motions

of a boomer shooter and let the vibes sort of

carry it. It feels well designed and like with good

pacing and like they really know how to use all

the elements of the Boomer Shooter to kind of give

it give it its drive. And I've I've been into

it so far. I think a big part of it

is it just looks really good. It looks like a

modern video game. It's not doing the boomer shooter thing.

That not that I'm against this.

Speaker 2: I love that.

Speaker 1: Whether I hey, let's do throwback graphics, that's fantastic. This

game's trying to look like a modern game and it's

pulling it off with a really good look and feel

and design, and uh yeah, I kind of admire it.

Speaker 4: Now.

Speaker 1: It's not like a serious SAM where you're just gonna

go into a room and there's gonna be waves and

waves vetemies. It is sort of you know, it does

out a couple here and there, and it might pick

up pace later, but it hasn't been too challenging either.

And I'll say I've appreciated that as I sort of

get my feet wet in this thing and kind of

diet my toes in there, find out what's going on,

feet wet in the milk bath.

Speaker 2: Of course this looks.

Speaker 3: Neat and tell you what, Like, you know, it's it

just came out a couple of days ago. It's got

overwhelmingly positive reviews so far. I just just noticed that, Yeah, yeah,

this is a pretty good time because we're kind of

like just getting into Spooky Season here, Yes, pretty soon.

Speaker 1: Yeah, so I definitely check out.

Speaker 3: It's interesting because city rooms, like they had that pain

Killer come out last year, which seems like it didn't

make too much of a splash. People didn't like that

a whole time. But yeah, there might be something too

it up. I'm curious to try it maybe again, Spooky

Season might be given that one.

Speaker 1: I mean, it's fifteen bucks and it's you know, on

sale for the in my hand, sorry you go. I

mean yeah, at that point it's like, yeah, what do

you expect for fifteen dollars? But already it's I think

it's surpassed my expectations of what you can imagine for

a game at that price.

Speaker 2: So I am very into it. Anything else from you

Mike Gosh.

Speaker 3: I mean, you know, just we've been we've been doing

big walk of it, talking about how amazing that is,

of course, which you know, We'm excited to play some more.

I'm sad that we have to take a little break

because Dan is going to be doing games calm stuff,

which so of course, okay, we'll wait a moment for that,

for sure, But I guys want to get into it, especially.

I feel like we're kind of getting a little bit

closer to the end, and I'm curious. People have talked

up the ending a bit. I don't know what that means,

but I'm curious what is going to go on.

Speaker 1: I have heard that like the ending is good, and

so is the second ending when you one hundred percent,

so I kind of wonder. I don't know. We'll say

I can, I'll commit to it.

Speaker 2: Yeah, go for it.

Speaker 1: More more Marvel Token Fighting soals.

Speaker 3: Actually, I like dipped my toe into doing some rinked

matches online, and to my surprise, I'm not getting just

completely like wiped out.

Speaker 1: I'm doing okay. It's true, I'm doing okay.

Speaker 3: Sean sent me a helpful video that like kind of explained,

not just like kind of explained combos theory a little

bit and kind of sort of give a base universal

combo that works pretty much every character like it basically

makes you understand how air juggling combos work in the game,

which is a pretty important part of it, and just

kind of using that, I was able to lab and

mess around Captain America. Okay, I have a pretty decent idea,

like what my kind of go to combos are here,

So I'm not just doing auto combos. I'm doing these

other things the way I can kind of build yourself

up with the game where you start like, okay, I'll

just do some auto combos and maybe calling some assists.

Speaker 1: Now I know these combos even like right now winning stuff.

Speaker 3: I'm not tagging anybody yet, and of course it would

be beneficial eventually if I do, but right now I

can just be like I'm learning Captain America. I'm gonna

play a ZAM and I'm gonna use other people as assists.

Maybe once I feel good with him, then I'll play

as iron Man some more, and then so that could

tack between Iron Man and Captain America and then you

kind of build from there. So yeah, the game has

been super fun I know some people have had issues

with the online experience, but at least for me, it's

been pretty good.

Speaker 2: Good good. Yeah, this is the game.

Speaker 1: You guys mentioned earlier that it's gotten cracked and people

are finding it performs way better. Yeah, that's the story

as old at time now. But the boy that's frustrating.

Speaker 5: Yep, Mike, I am glad that, like your experience is

kind of validating what I thought would be the case

with the game of like it has layers to it.

I think those various layers will help these players into

tag fighters, which is like kind of a difficult concept

if you're not familiar with them and you are like

slowly taking it step by step by step and getting

better and better. And that's great to see. And also

if people want to like see some videos like I

showed Mike to like help you get a little bit better,

say jam Sajam. He does great beginners videos for fighting games,

and they sent Mike was his Marvel Tooken compost structure video.

So you go to his challenge you and find that

we're gonna play some toke on on you PF tomorrow

as well. Jipop, So if you want to check out

up to.

Speaker 1: Fun yep, looking forward to that. And then the other

thing I've been playing is the demo for hyper Drop.

I did Jan talked about it on Tuesday. I kind

of tried it immediately after that. It is the as

the subtitle says, a pachinko rogue light and it's just, man,

it is very satisfying to like get like to get

a deck basically of different pins that you could put

onto your board, as well as different shapes and stuff

you could apply to your balls, and it's all as

always with these games now set up very much like

Bollatro or Battotroe if you if you so desire, and

you can get the idea very very quickly of like, okay,

this is one that I want to activate right away

because it's going to either create an immediate multi ball

or it's going to activate a multiplier, so I kind

of want to ensure I'm going to hit it immediately.

And then there's these other pins that if the ball

hits it, it goes back in time two seconds, so

it'll go back up to the top it maybe hit

those again, or it will automatically get zooped up and

just return to the top of the playfield. And go

through the playfield again, or it'll get a parachute, and

now that it's got the parachute, once it goes through

the bottom of the playfield, it floats back up and

hits everything on the way up. And the pins have

cool downs, so if you do have a pin that

like one of them will create a storm of balls

to drop down, and you can hit that early on,

and as long as there's a battery next to it,

which is another pin, it'll activate. But maybe sometimes these

things aren't in sync, so you'll hit one, then the other,

and then as the ball is coming back up, it'll

activate it again and it starts getting into this loop

of I had one ball drop that would go for

a minute and a half something like that, and it

was so satisfying, so amazing just to watch this stuff happen.

It was hard not to be like, oh my god,

I'm mesmerized by this what this game is doing to me.

Speaker 5: Now.

Speaker 2: It is still pachinko in a lot of ways, and

it's not even like as.

Speaker 1: Maybe strategic as as Peggle was in terms of dropping

your ball and trying to like, oh I can maybe

if I get at this angle and I can shoot

this deflection, I can get it into that little space

and hit all the pegs inside of there. Or I

can slide around the inside of this curvature and I

can get all those pegs in a really satisfying way. No,

but but it is all about like improving your playfield

and setting that up and making smart decisions. And that's

still really fun. But I could not stop playing. It

was very into it. So uh yeah, I that demo's

out now. I recommend it for people, so go check

it out. Looks cool, anything else, Mike, Nope, that's it

from me. Hey, all right, and that's uh yeah.

Speaker 4: I got a real quick I got a call for

that Steien Skate reboot, the like remake of the visual

novel they came out like in twenty ten. They made

another version of that game called Elite not that long ago,

where they changed the They changed a couple of stuff

about like the quality of live stuff, and they changed

the script to be a little bit faster, a little

bit less convoluted, I would say, because the first one

had a lot of talkie and like in their in

his head like Sololow poems. Let's just say it from

the main character that they took away in the in

the in the new ones. This game is great. This

is like the greatest like science fiction time travel story

ever that I ever seen. It's so good. So it's

hard to it's hard to recommend because it's a full

price game, and they don't change that much in this

new version, Like they have new animation, they recorded voices

and it's all great, but they the original version is

on Steam, the staying the original, and sometimes it's like

single digits and it's still the great. It's still super serviceable.

But also like I don't know if a new player

will be comfortable playing like that first version because it's

a little bit older. It is from the olden time

before team even where you have like a luncher. There's

a little screen where you had to pick like your resolution,

where you save and all that stuff. So like it's

hard to recommend this version. It's also hard to recommend

Elite because it changes the story a little bit. It's

not as good, but it's still pretty good. So it's

sixty bucks. If you're a super fan, probably buy it.

You probably already bought it. If the first time you're

gonna play it, maybe try to play the first one

and if you can hang out with those like weirdness

would be in an all game, just buy Elite probably,

So like.

Speaker 1: This, where were people play the first one? Is it

just like they would go emulate it or something.

Speaker 4: No, it's just the first one is on Steam, you know,

the firm is on Steam. Issues standings Gate, and then

they did Elite, which is a new version of it

with different It's just they changed the couple of stuff

and that's it. But like this, Rewood is sixty bucks.

I don't think it's worthy, to be honest, She's pick

of the original or Elite. If you want to this

one again, if you're a super fun you probably already

bought it because you're a super fun. If not, it's

your first time, she just go with the original or Elite,

which is a little bit more expensive. But yeah, it's

just plays stience Gate somehow. This is this is my my, my,

my call to everybody playing stays Gate.

Speaker 5: Is you know that?

Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, Issues is great. It's such a compelling The

characters are just lovable goods all the time, and it

gets super like intense sometimes it's in a good way.

You you you you like this car. There's so much

that you end up caring deeply about them, and yeah,

it's it's a great game. Go play Science Skate and

don't buy this new one, which is I feel that

because they put so much work in it, they remade

all the voices and it's great, but that sixty bucks

is a little bit too much to ask for, like

a vision.

Speaker 1: Why why do I I think about dog dangan Ropa

when when I think of Steinsgate, is there is there

a relationship?

Speaker 4: I mean no, no, they're like competing, let's just call it.

But they like they're from that time where like Vision

Knows were like becoming very popular and science and were

like in that same kind of universe bubble. Yeah, yeah, yeah,

yeah yeah, all.

Speaker 1: Right, Uh well cool, excellent. Uh let's see here then

I think what we got to do now, Mike is

clean up the super chats.

Speaker 3: All righty hex profcess sonny Ai pat is insane. They

keep stepping on it.

Speaker 1: Yeah do you hear about that one ai? Yeah, he's

talking about selling your AI data to your friends or

whatever so they they can not play games like you.

But watching AI character play games like you dumb.

Speaker 3: Stuff weird, Cryptoca says Sieking City two is nineteen thirty's

Eldrich Horror with Indian Jones Stole Protagonists said in Michigan

socality of writing and combat really surprised me.

Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely on my radar. I won't try it.

Speaker 3: Maybe took a look at that, eat your vegeta says

reminded that Andred seventeen and eighteen are cyborgs. Yeah, yeah,

I'm very bunch of case. They put bombs in them too,

which is metal.

Speaker 1: Of course. Listen, anyone who's down with Krillin is down

with me, so of course.

Speaker 3: Yeah, YouTube crash, here we go a turn arouse. It's

fun fact I have a Goku in every roem my

apartment so we can protect my own.

Speaker 1: Yeah, it's from from real world intruders and from the undead. Yeah, ghosts.

And then Sackle says, you guys talking about loving pre

super City and hungry Goku running around being your favorite.

Have you heard of straw Hat Luffy. I don't know her.

Speaker 2: I don't know what that is, and I never will.

Speaker 4: I wouldn't a joke about them.

Speaker 1: I'm scared. I'm scared. All right, that's it. Thank you, everybody,

Thanks everybody, Thank you.

Speaker 4: Mike.

Speaker 1: Let's uh shit the buttony music start playing. Wow, let's

get out of here, all right, Mike, where can people

find you? You got your any streaming happening this weekend?

Speaker 2: What what you got going on?

Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm definitely gonna probably stream got some myself. I

need to get going on here too this weekend, but

we'll stream a these nineties is going sue me and

my brothers talking about those D twenty three parks announcements

and hearing about AJ's recent Disney World trip as well.

Speaker 1: So that's coming out really soon. So check out nineties Disney.

But yeah, and yeah, tomorrow, I'm excited to play some

poke on on a Giant Bomb.

Speaker 3: Yeah, check out the Big Walk playthrough. If you haven't,

we've been having a ton of funk. I think if

you if you're if you're a premium member. The last

this is the run Sewer Shark. I think it was

a pretty interesting one. We just recorded some. I mean,

why would I have to record anymore? But you know,

I just think that this is the run Sewer Shark.

Has been a fun time. So it's been real swell.

Speaker 1: It really is. If you're not.

Speaker 3: Pretty memor maybe they think about going to Giant Bomb

dot com slash joints. You can watch me play the

greatest Ville game of all time, sewer Shark.

Speaker 2: Oh yeah, excuse me, everybody. You know what I did

this evening.

Speaker 1: In between this and our work day at work, I

watched world Builders Disney world Builders. Oh dank, you've seen

it before me? Yeah, yes, Stacy Backlar's yes. Post production

producer Stacy Banklar, whose name I saw not just in

the credits, been like those main credits right afterwards, been

one of the big names. So impressive stuff, you know,

since I get it, she probably had a couple of

days where she was hanging out with Iger right ire

is the more recent CEO that just retired. Josh Tomorrow

is the current CEO. Yeah, Josh Tomorrow guy ship. Seems

like she would probably hung.

Speaker 2: Out with him as well. She's an important person.

Speaker 1: Did a really fun show of like, oh, these are

just cool creators, important to Disney storytelling, and they all

talked about their relationships to the parks. We forced that

person to look at Cat jurff Man. Yes, exactly. We

put a Cat jurff Man into her home and that's

the power. We wheeld a giant bomb. But yi, Rachel

it's excellent. Yes, hi, Rachel, I hope you have a

better night. We're glad you're hanging out with us now though,

like and that goes for everybody.

Speaker 2: Thanks you for hanging out. We'll catch you next time out.

We're going to go take care of yourself and goodbye.

Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch an F one race. Yeah, finally, they

had all summer off for most of August off. A

lot of cores going of slots.

Speaker 4: That we ship that little control bude that looks like

a dildol though.

Speaker 5: All right, we're out.
