Speaker 1: Crime Alart hourly update, breaking crime news Now. I'm Sidney Silvanni.
Speaker 1: We begin today in Utah, where dramatic new evidence has
Speaker 1: been unveiled in the assassination case of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Speaker 1: Tyler Robinson, the suspect accused of pulling the trigger, allegedly
Speaker 1: interacted directly with Turning Point USA staff members hours before
Speaker 1: the fatal shooting occurred. Robinson appeared in court Wednesday for
Speaker 1: the third day of a high stakes preliminary hearing. Authorities
Speaker 1: accused Robinson of killing Kirk during a Turning Point USA
Speaker 1: rally on the campus of Utah Valley University back on
Speaker 1: September tenth, twenty twenty five. On day two of those proceedings,
Speaker 1: which were streamed live, prosecutors introduced critical surveillance footage tracking
Speaker 1: the movements of an individual they insist as Robinson before
Speaker 1: and after the gunfire. David Hole, the Utah law enforcement
Speaker 1: agent who led the investigation into Kirk's murder, testified Tuesday
Speaker 1: that campus cameras track the suspect. Agent Hole noted that
Speaker 1: Robinson interacted with staff and even ate lunch at a
Speaker 1: Chick fil A on campus that afternoon.
Speaker 2: At that time, he makes contact with some representatives from TPUSA,
Speaker 2: So he goes about campus, visits the amphitheat to area,
Speaker 2: the courtyard or quad. Correct, he went to Chick fil
Speaker 2: A in this armsen billing, puta some food and satonate
Speaker 2: the food.
Speaker 1: Though subsequent footage revealed the individual later changed his attire.
Speaker 1: Narrating over surveillance footage, Prosecutor David Sturgell questioned Agent Hole
Speaker 1: about the visual evidence connecting Robinson to the scene.
Speaker 2: You believe this is mister Robinson returning to campus. I do, yes, okay,
Speaker 2: and what do you believe it's mister Robinson. The shoes
Speaker 2: are the same, and the images that we have from
Speaker 2: my viewing and seeing mister Robinson on the video, it's
Speaker 2: the same person. He's noticeably wearing different clothing. He is
Speaker 2: wearing different clothing, and he also is walking with a
Speaker 2: gait or limp in the studio.
Speaker 1: Beyond the clothing change, prosecutors presented shocking footage of an
Speaker 1: individual positioned on the roof of a campus building around
Speaker 1: the exact time of the shooting, who later lowered himself
Speaker 1: from the structure while holding an object. Sitting through this
Speaker 1: agonizing testimony was Kirk's widow, Erica Kirk, who has maintained
Speaker 1: her presence in the court room. The late activist family
Speaker 1: is also in attendance, but frequently depart when witnesses detail
Speaker 1: Kirk's death. Ahead of the hearings, this week, the Kirk
Speaker 1: family released a heartbreaking social media statement noting that every
Speaker 1: single court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his
Speaker 1: death and the loss that has irrevocably impacted their lives
Speaker 1: in the lives of his children. They added that they
Speaker 1: remain deeply grateful for the outpouring of support, prayers, and
Speaker 1: kindness that has sustained them during the darkest days of
Speaker 1: their lives. More crime and Just news after this. In California,
Speaker 1: a stunning legal resolution has emerged for a Pasadena radiologist
Speaker 1: accused of intentionally driving his tesla off a two hundred
Speaker 1: and fifty foot cliff with his family inside the vehicle.
Speaker 1: Forty five year old Darmesh Arvind Patel is no longer
Speaker 1: facing criminal charges after completing a two year mental health
Speaker 1: diversion program. Pateel originally faced three counts of attempted murder
Speaker 1: following the January twenty twenty three crash on a notorious
Speaker 1: stretch of Highway one known as Devil's Slide in San
Speaker 1: Mateo County near Pacifica, which injured his forty one year
Speaker 1: old wife, Niha Patel, and their two children, a seven
Speaker 1: year old girl and a four year old boy. Because
Speaker 1: Patel completed the program, his passport was returned and a
Speaker 1: no harassment order lifted. San Mateo County District Attorney Steve
Speaker 1: Wagstaff issued a statement Tuesday, July seven, explaining that under
Speaker 1: California law, Judge Cho had no discretion and was required
Speaker 1: to dismiss the charger of entirely. During court proceedings, two
Speaker 1: doctors testified that Patel was experiencing a psychotic episode, believing
Speaker 1: his children were victims of sex trafficking. While the defense
Speaker 1: claimed major depressive disorder, prosecutors argued he would not benefit
Speaker 1: from diversion. The dismissal stands in contrast to the California
Speaker 1: Highway Patrol's initial finding of probable cause for an intentional act.
Speaker 1: Immediately after the plunge. Multiple witnesses heard in the hotel
Speaker 1: paramedics her husband intentionally tried to kill them. However, Nihal
Speaker 1: later stated through defense attorney Josh Bentley that she did
Speaker 1: not want him prosecuted. Patel has since surrendered his medical license. Finally,
Speaker 1: police and Maryland say a recent commercial burglary case delivered
Speaker 1: an instant dose of cosmic justice. Near the ninety three
Speaker 1: hundred block of Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City, twenty
Speaker 1: nine year old Jalen Goddard allegedly smashed a window to
Speaker 1: rob a Verizon wireless store, leaving behind blood evidence. He
Speaker 1: stole merchandise and ran outside, only to find his vehicle gone.
Speaker 1: Goddard had left his truck running across the street with
Speaker 1: keys inside, and another thief drove it away. Stranded. The
Speaker 1: suspect actually called police to report his stolen truck at
Speaker 1: the exact moment dispatchers received the store's burglary alarm. Officers
Speaker 1: reviewed surveillance footage, matched his cuts to the blood of
Speaker 1: the scene, and confronted him on camera.
Speaker 2: So the gigs up.
Speaker 1: It's whether you want to be honest about stuff or not.
Speaker 2: You know what I mean? I do all right, truck?
Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's kind of some karma right there,
Speaker 1: ain't it.
Speaker 2: I left?
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's some karma right there, dude. For more crime
