Speaker 1: Hey yay, Hello. I'm Josephine and this is the Animal
Tales podcast. There are over one hundred extra stories on

and this is a taster of another one. To find

from Durban, South Africa and they would like a story
with a megalodon, a man teray and a selacanth. Don't

to sit back and get comfy. It's time to begin.
Mega Megalodon, out of the way, pip screeak, said the
big burly megalodon as it pushed past Thomas. Yeah, move it,
small fry snapped an equally large and fearsome shark. Thomas
swam sideways frantically, trying to give the two huge meglodons
as much rumor as possible. Unfortunately, this sort of thing
happened a lot in prehistoric seas. Few creatures were big
enough or ferocious enough to stand up to a fully
grown megalodon. But what made it twice as bad for Thomas, though,
was that he was a megalodon too, just not a
very big one. Of course he might be one day,
but for now he was just a little shark in comparison.
I couldn't help but notice what just happened, said a
spotted man to ray as it glided out of the blue. Normally,
manterray steered well clear of megalodon's despite being reasonably large themselves.
Either this one was feeling brave or Thomas just wasn't
all that scary looking, oh them, replied Thomas, feeling a
little embarrassed someone had seen the encounter. Don't worry. I'm
used to It happens at least once every day. But
you're a megalodon, said the manter ray, like they are,
aren't you, you know, sort of on the same side.
You'd think so, wouldn't you, sighed Thomas. But they just
pick on me and make me feel small and useless.
That's not right, said the manter ray firmly. They should
be looking after you, not being nasty to you. If
you were bigger, they wouldn't do that to you. Ah,
But that's the trouble, said Thomas, sadly. I'm not big,
and it will be a long time until i am.
Until then, I guess I'll just have to put up
with it. Maybe you don't have to wait, said the
man to Ray suddenly. Maybe there's a way you could
get a little bigger, a lot quicker. What do you mean,
asked Thomas. The name's Daniel, said the man to Ray
with a smile. Follow me. I want you to meet
some one. The man to Ray glided away on its
enormous wing like fins, leaving Thomas to make a decision.
Was this man to Ray serious should he follow? He
was already losing sight of Daniel, so he was going
to have to choose quickly. With a burst of speed
from his tail, Thomas the megalodon rushed to catch up.
They swam for a while in silence, until the sea
law rose up into hundreds of rocky pinnacles like skinny mountains.
Daniel swam effortlessly between them, picking a path through the maize.
This took them to a central hollow, where an unusual
fish swam in slow circles around the shell of a
giant clam. Oh mighty selacanth, said Daniel the man to
ray respectfully, I bring you a friend in need. The
selacanth stopped her circling and stared at the newcomers. You
bring me a megalodon, she said, in surprise. I would
have thought a meglodon wouldn't need help from any one.
He is but a small megalodon, said Daniel quickly. The
bigger meglodons are mean to him because of it, I see,
nodded the selacanth. Tell me meglodon, what could I do
