1 SPEAKER_02: This time on Retro Rolecast.
So you take a pinch of sulfur out of your belt pouch and you
mutter the magic incantation.
And a fiery dot r streaks out from your outst outstretched
hands, covers the distance between you and the building,
and disappears into the blackness.
SPEAKER_01: Half a second later you roll your damage.
SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's not good.
A four, that's ten.
Twenty-one.
No pluses.
No pluses.
No.
It's the best you got.
SPEAKER_06: Yep.
SPEAKER_03: It's it.
That's it.
SPEAKER_06: It's a beginner spell.
SPEAKER_02: It's a beginner fireball.
For a moment, you see the interior of the building light
up and flame.
You see two very large shadowy figures inside, one bigger than
the other.
And then flame erupts out of the front of the building.
The ogre in the middle of the of the clearing.
And he's staring at the door that flames have just shot out
about five feet.
You can see smoke.
Parts of the roof have fallen off, and you can see a couple of
very loosely packed logs have come loose and roll off and come
to a big thud on the side of the big structure.
But the ogre is just standing there dumbfounded looking at the
door.
The cattle are panicked in the pen behind.

Tell your friends about us on social media.
I am assured by my players that they are ready to tear into the
action on this episode.
So we're going to forego the usual introductions of
characters.
We'll get into that as we play.
But you guys have just liberated the village at the base of the
mountain near the minehead.
Yay.
Some villagers have gone off to join your knights in the woods
with your horses.
They some of them remonstrating that their family members and
fellow villagers, a lot of them are still in the mines.
But Reus spoke up and made the decision that you guys were
going to make sure that your flanks are covered by taking
care of the giants up the way first.
And they gave you some information that the giant camp
was up the road from where you were.
So we're going to pick that up.
You guys are forming a plan of action.
And I believe heading up in that direction, correct?
SPEAKER_03: Yes.
That is true.
We're not forming a plan of action.
We're just doing it.
We have no plan.
Well, the plan is leave the villagers here or maybe get them
a little further into the woods, and then we will use the what's
the intelligence that they've given us about the location of
the giant's camp to walk through the woods towards the camp.
Yeah.
We want to stealthily approach the giant camp.
Meaning take out any guards.
I will scout it.
Take out any guards.
And then essentially we're going to frontal assault.
Kill them all.
Right.
SPEAKER_02: The the knights are just wondering, do you want us
to keep the villagers here or take them further into the
woods?
SPEAKER_04: Take them further into the woods.
Yeah.
Not far, but not no.
SPEAKER_03: Just make sure you're out of sight of the
woods.
Maybe if there's a water source nearby.
Did the villagers, as I asked them to do, grab any like
foodstuffs for themselves?
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, a lot of them grab like a sack.
SPEAKER_03: And stuff some foods in it.
Okay, good.
SPEAKER_02: Most of them seem to be looking back over their
shoulder at the village and with worried looks on their faces.
We're going back.
SPEAKER_03: We just want to make sure that we can clear out of
here without throwing into the giants.
SPEAKER_02: Their eyes are troubled, but they are following
what you tell them to do.
SPEAKER_03: Good, because we're not very charismatic.
No.
But we do have weapons and just rescued them, so they owe us.
That ups your charisma in the case.
They owe us their sausage.
SPEAKER_00: Wait, they have sausage.
SPEAKER_03: God.
SPEAKER_02: Dude.
More sausage.
So on that QV, the knights lead, one of the knights forms up in
the rear.
They start guiding the villagers.
One of the villagers knows where there is a spring in the woods
and volunteers to show the uh the knights to that direction.
Good.
And they start filing very slowly out from there through
the forest.
It doesn't take very long until they disappear into the
underbrush or away from view, and you're left with just the
tittering of the birds in the trees and the soft sounds of the
foliage blowing in the wind.
SPEAKER_03: How far did they say it was to the giant camp?
A mile or something?
About a half mile.
Oh, perfect.
That won't even take all that long.
All right.
So Merrick can take the lead in like 50, 100 yards or whatever.
And then we'll follow along behind.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: Or scout will scout for us.
Alright, scouting ahead, you guys.
Does Merrick have a last name?
Thornleaf.
Thornleaf.
Okay.
I was gonna make Lightfoot that'd be your name, but you've
already got a name, Thornleaf.
I do.
My parents gave it to me.
I get the thorny part.
The Thornleaf clan.
The thorn makes sense.
SPEAKER_02: Scouting ahead a bit.
You make your way quickly over the half mile.
Probably takes you 15 minutes, 15, 20 minutes to make your way
carefully through the woods.
You're are you you're taking care not to use the road, or are
you using the road?
SPEAKER_03: Not using the road.
SPEAKER_02: Right.
Essentially follow your nose on this one because you can smell
the uh the cook fires coming from that direction.
And Merrick, you are ranging ahead a little bit.
Your your ear starts to pick up like the sounds of livestock.
Makes sense.
Giants would eat a lot.
Coming from that direction, and you can now see the smoke
filtering up through the trees, and you see, like up ahead of
you, probably a couple hundred yards, you can just see the
vague outline of a very large wooden structure.
SPEAKER_03: How did you do that?
What?
You said that, and now something in here smells.
No, there's food cooking in the air.
I see.
SPEAKER_06: No, you said that.
I didn't do it.
SPEAKER_04: And we were doing so well.
We were on a roll there for like 45 seconds, guys.
SPEAKER_02: We were focused and moving forward.
Now we smell floppy joes or something.
SPEAKER_06: This is all gone.
It's all gone.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
SPEAKER_06: So tune in next week.
I will uh be gone.
SPEAKER_02: Well, remember this is a bright shining moment of
our podcast.
That minute and a half where where we were just locked in.
Locked in.
SPEAKER_03: What?
Let's relock.
Hey man, Chris.
Honestly, it kind of stinks.
It is.
Not a great smell.
No, that's what it smells what I imagine cooking from a giant
camp would smell it.
To be fair.
SPEAKER_02: You see flames from a large bonfire fire licking up
into the air.
Just is there movement?
Like you see your halfling scout just freeze up ahead of you, and
you see one sort of large figure moving around where that fire
is.
Okay.
SPEAKER_03: I'm basically going to signal them to stop and then
circle out around away from the road.
Well, you're not on the road.
I know.
He means opposite direction.
Opposite direction would be to the right.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so you're going to the right of the
building.
SPEAKER_03: Okay, so we're on the left side or the right side
of the road.
You have been on the right side of the road ever since you then
call the village.
We're on the west side of the road.
Let's just call it west, and you're going to go.
Then I will circle the direction.
SPEAKER_02: To be pedantic, you guys are south of the road.
The road runs east-west.
You guys are south of the road.
SPEAKER_03: All right.
So I'm circling around about maybe 45 degrees around the camp
and then going in to get a good look.
Okay.
Looking for a place that underbrush gets close, right?
How far away are we when he le when we stop, when he gestures
to us to stop?
You can barely see a bond price.
SPEAKER_02: He can see a little bit more.
Okay.
Oh, there's a building?
Yes.
Yes.
A very large wooden building.
Interesting.
So it's not really.
The side of the camp that you're headed to is the side that has
that burn it down.
As you get closer, heading out in that direction, you can see
on that side of the camp is that very large wooden building.
You can see the trees and the slope rising up beyond that
building.
Okay.
To the left-hand side of where that building is the fire.
You can see the figure that's walking around by the fire.
You can now see clearly as an ogre.
There are a number of very crudely constructed tents in
like a semicircle around where that fire is, and on the other
side of the clearing from where the large building is.
Beyond those tents, you can see like a pen area.
And that appears to be where the livestock sounds are coming
from.
Bovine.
There's cows.
Is it cow being kept?
Like a corral kind of setup.
Yeah.
I'm going to circle out towards that.
Okay, so you're going to change direction and come all the way
back around.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
Or just go continue on this direction until I get there.
SPEAKER_02: Well, if you continue on this direction, you
can you think you can come back around the house, across the
road and come back around the house, and then there's like a
slope going up on the other side of the or there's a road leaving
the other.
SPEAKER_03: The road cuts across between you and the camera.
This is not the end of the road.
SPEAKER_02: Correct.
SPEAKER_03: I gotcha.
I was thinking about it.
SPEAKER_02: The road keeps going.
SPEAKER_03: So is this the road?
I'm asking.
I'm not I shouldn't be asking questions.
Sorry.
Okay.
I'm taking the path that looks like it would be the least
visible to get behind the corral.
SPEAKER_02: Well, you definitely think that passing behind the
house would be way less visible than anything else.
Doing that.
And you just need to decide whether you're crossing the road
and whether you're going up the slope on the far side.
I have to get behind the corral, right?
Well, the corral is on the on on the left-hand side.
So making me draw a damn map.
SPEAKER_03: I mean, I'm I'm picturing road.
Building.
The road is this way.
Road.
Building.
Is the building north or south of the road?
The building is north of the road.
Okay.
Is the corral meet for shit that happened?
SPEAKER_02: Is the corral north or south of the road?
South.
Okay.
Here is you.
This is the road.
This is the big building.
These are the tents.
That's the fire.
Oh, so we came up the opposite side of the road.
Well, this side of the road is hilly and wooded.
You guys are on the on the bottom side was where you left
your horses.
SPEAKER_03: In this case, I will go to the left.
So you're doubling back.
Doubling back and then cross the road.
Okay.
Hopefully out of easy sight of the fire.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
So you can easily enough double back.
The figure tromping around the fire doesn't seem to be paying
anything.
Is he like cooking?
He's like kicking some stones.
Oh, okay.
Scratching himself and cooking up.
SPEAKER_03: You missed the uh visual there.
Sean's sticking an arm in the air and scratching his armpit
like you would think an ogre would.
It was very ogre-ish.
It was.
SPEAKER_02: So you circle back around to the left, and it's
basically wooded right up to this encampment.
Inside the encampment, you can see stumps where obviously trees
were just ripped out recently to make way for this.
The the sounds of the livestock are getting closer.
You're also hearing snoring sounds coming from the tents.
Fire! Fire.
So And you guys can see your halfling goes one way and
disappears, and then you see him scurry back the other direction
and head towards the left where you are.
I'll check in with you guys.
Anything you guys want to do at this point.
SPEAKER_03: I think we need to maybe just get a little bit
closer.
Yeah, that's always worked so well for us in the past.
Let's do it.
I'm getting a count.
I want to get a count how many ogres there are.
I'm gonna make a count down here invisible.
SPEAKER_02: Well, you see one ogre, you see a very large
building.
As you actually move over to left and you can see the front
of that building, you can see that the building looks very
recently constructed and very crudely.
Everything is wood.
The roof is actually made of just raw logs with some sort of
mud and daub covering over the spots.
And rather than a door, there's just a large like 10-foot wide,
15-foot tall opening in the front.
And it's darkness beyond.
It's a cabin for a giant.
You don't see anything beyond that.
SPEAKER_03: You said there's ogres snoring in the tent, so as
I'm circling and checking, trying to peek into each tent
and see you're peeking into the tent.
Is it like I have to walk up and open it, or are they open?
SPEAKER_02: Well, the flaps to all the tents, if you actually
want to do the flap, is all face the fire and the ogre.
How about this?
SPEAKER_03: I'll stop behind each tent and listen.
See if I hear snoring in the tent.
Wasn't there an ogre walking around?
There was.
Okay.
unknown: Okay.
SPEAKER_02: You're getting that close to the tent.
You're crossing the room getting that close to the tent.
SPEAKER_03: How close do I have to be?
They're ogres.
SPEAKER_02: Right?
Well, you can hear snoring if you want numerical information.
You've got to get really close.
SPEAKER_03: No, I'm not gonna get that close.
I'm still heading for the corral.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
So we knew that we know there's at least two ogres in these
tents.
So skirting crossing the road and skirting out twenty, thirty
yards from the closest tent, you can see the corral beyond.
Okay.
And you can see that there's probably a dozen cattle.
SPEAKER_03: The point going there is to evaluate how useful
they would be as a potential distraction.
If I opened the corral and like spook the herd.
SPEAKER_02: There's a corral door in the direction of the
fire pit.
Okay.
It's very large.
The the corral itself is it's giant-sized cows.
Are these giant-sized cows?
No.
They're normal sized cows.
Okay.
But the fencing and the the utility of it is not meant for
people.
It's meant for larger creatures.
SPEAKER_03: Alright.
SPEAKER_02: You think if you were really strong and you were
able to get up high enough, you could move the you could move
the gate open or something.
Okay.
So once I possibly somebody that's six feet tall rather than
three could easily do it.
SPEAKER_03: Alright.
Then I'm gonna once I gather the information, I'm gonna circle
back to them.
Say, okay, this is what we got.
At least there's an ogre at the fire.
There's at least probably how many tents were there?
There's three large tents.
So there's probably at least three ogres, which we've seen
evidence of in the past.
Right.
Giants clearly in the big fresh building.
So we have a giant and three ogres.
Okay.
We have a corral full of cattle that we can release as a
distraction.
Okay.
If we need to or want to.
How do we want to do this?
So if we want to if we release the cattle as a distraction,
obviously every all the ogres are gonna wake up.
Right.
Not good.
So we do we want to surprise them while they sleep, or do we
want to wake them up and hope they leave?
No, the question is do we want the element of sleep surprise on
the giant or the ogres?
Because we can't have both.
Well, we're not gonna get surprised on the giant because
he's in the buildings.
We might surprise him, but we're not gonna get any kind of weird
advantage, I think.
We should take these ogres out one by one in their sleep.
Okay.
How do we get close enough to support him doing that?
What do you mean support him doing that?
We've got to get the other ogre distracted.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
Because we actually discussed this a little bit last time
about dispatching sleeping opponents.
If the sleep is magical, it's automatic.
If it's not magical sleep, there is a basically, even if you're
not an assassin, you get to roll in the assassination table as
long as you are using a weapon that could dispatch.
Basically, it means that you're not guaranteed to automatically
kill a normally sleeping person enemy.
SPEAKER_03: Makes sense.
SPEAKER_02: A magically sleeping enemy is a different deal, and
you can dispatch those, but normal sleep is basically the
the percentage chance starts at 50% and then there's modifiers.
SPEAKER_03: Okay.
So my theory my feeling on this is if we try to do this, we're
going to lose any element of surprise we have on the giant.
Well, we might be able to take out all the ogres.
But if we're going to get the ability to dispose of one of
these enemies with surprise, I would choose the giant.
Yeah, but we don't have that choice.
How?
How do you what do you mean we don't have that choice?
Tell me how we're going to do it.
We sneak into the building and we kill him.
You use this like royal we, like there's anybody else that can
sneak.
If you want to sneak in, were there any windows or doors on
the back of the building?
SPEAKER_02: Oh, you didn't see any of the back of the building.
No.
Okay.
We don't sneak.
You sneak.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think we don't sneak this armor.
Dang.
Yeah.
Dang, right?
Banded male, not sneak.
No sneak on cleric, no sneak on Reyes.
Sneak.
Maybe.
Who knows?
I mean, he might be able to do it, but would he?
So here's because we don't have a silent spell.
So we do have a silence spell.
It's better because we could use that to all get close enough.
If we all got close enough with the silence spell, we could all
loose arrows at that.
Like, how many?
You got a bow, right?
I got a bow.
You got a bow.
Elf, nothing.
Cleric.
Edric, nothing.
Yeah, but we want to save all of your spells for Ogre Mages and
later in the day.
This is the first encounter today of a day that might be
very busy.
If we need to save the thing, the thing is, though, I'll go up
in his head.
If we try to save stuff, this might be the last encounter of
the day.
But the point is, he is he has the ability to turn a combat
from losing into winning with a spell, and we don't have that.
Sleep.
How about if we that might work on the ogres?
Get all the ogres to run into the building and then fireball
into the building.
It might work on the one ogre that's alive.
We don't know what to build.
The giant, presumably.
Presumably, but we don't know.
We have to get closer.
SPEAKER_06: The halfling wake they charge into the building
fireball the building.
SPEAKER_03: Could you?
How far away are the tent?
Don't say that.
How far away are the tents?
From each other.
From each other.
GM.
SPEAKER_02: The tents are 20 feet from each other.
Okay, what's your area of effect on your fireball?
SPEAKER_04: Where's your mouth big enough?
30 feet radius.
30 feet radius.
60 feet.
So 60 feet.
SPEAKER_03: Could you catch the giant's building and two or
three of the tents with one fireball?
SPEAKER_04: I doubt that.
No, but probably two of the tents you could.
SPEAKER_03: Well, if it's 60 feet, he could probably get all
three tents, but one of the things.
SPEAKER_02: If you centered it on the you think you could get
two tents at a time with a fireball.
You think you could fire a fireball into the building and
get any anything in the building.
But it obviously, if you put it in the building, it's not going
to spread anywhere else.
SPEAKER_03: No, you know what's going to do?
It's going to blow that building to smithereens and send burning
chunks of wood across the entire encampment.
It would be a pretty spectacular event.
Well, I don't disagree.
Unfortunately, the rules do not support that.
Yes.
But would the GM support it?
And I think the worry about.
Yes.
SPEAKER_01: Can we dig a tunnel?
SPEAKER_03: Look, the GM is stated multiple times.
Okay.
Well, if this is guys, let's focus.
The GM is stated multiple times.
The noble is speaking.
That you're I'm not the noble.
We are getting we are getting way out of hand here on what
ifs.
That you count up your squares of occupation when a spot
fireball is cast and there is overbleed.
He was like all excited to count out cubes in 10 foot by 10 foot
sections to tell you how much space is filled.
Which means that it's going to blow this building apart and
it's going to have debris damage across everything in a 60-foot
radius.
Including the ogres.
Including the ogres.
That's right.
The GM, by his own statements, has admitted that this is
already going to happen.
And then we've got usually statements against Myth.
So what you're saying is a sense of record we've got a plan.
Yeah.
Are we going to fireball the goddamn big building and shoot
anything that moves?
That's right.
Let's go.
Do you want to be enlarged for your why not?
All right.
I enlarge well.
I enlarge Reyes.
I am giant.
You ready for this?
SPEAKER_02: All right.
All right.
So we appear to have formed a plan.
At least a little one.
Not a good one.
You guys are huddled.
You guys have the Coke bottle in the dirt and you're drawing it
up.
Ready.
SPEAKER_03: Or we got our village scratched in on the dirt
based on your drawing.
In the middle.
SPEAKER_02: What is the thing which means the word go?
What is the event?
Boom.
Banana.
Panana.
SPEAKER_01: Pineapple.
Banana.
SPEAKER_03: None of us have ever heard of a pineapple.
SPEAKER_01: Pineapple?
SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go towards.
I'm gonna be like at the tent that is furthest from the
building.
unknown: Aprigot.
SPEAKER_03: Well, we need to get close.
I need to get closer.
And he needs to get closer, and we all need to get closer.
Can we get closer stealthily following our very stealthy
scouty halfling, Merrick Thornleaf, into Well, you all
have seen the ogre at this point, and he does not appear to
be paying a whole lot of attention there.
But we're not going to get within 60 feet without being
seen.
I'm talking like a hundred feet.
Could we get it a hundred feet away?
So how about this?
Okay, we can get a hundred feet away.
SPEAKER_02: You feel you could probably get sixty feet away.
SPEAKER_03: We start this off by somebody opening the corral
door, and then we give one of the cattle in the back a poke.
You really seem intent on making these cattle move.
SPEAKER_04: I know you're sort of fixated on these cattle here,
dude.
I think that was.
SPEAKER_03: I'm thinking of a way to get he's trying to get
rations.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02: If you let the cattle free, there's no
surprise.
It's less able to be a ration in the future.
SPEAKER_03: But my thought is it might take at least one of the
ogres wandering off trying to herd the cattle back.
We are fireballing the ogres and then we're going to shoot them
full of arrows.
We're fireballing the giant.
Yeah, but their ogres are going to get caught in the blast.
That's right.
You're running a timer.
Yeah.
All right.
SPEAKER_02: Put an initial on this page.
Where you guys are going to position yourselves.
SPEAKER_03: So the circles are the tents?
Where's the opening?
Is the opening on the giants?
On the right hand side of the building there.
SPEAKER_02: It's on that.
Charge.
Attack.
All right.
A little bit closer to the center.
Where's the ogre at?
unknown: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: So we're just going to walk into the torch, the
light of the bonfire.
Where's the ogre at?
SPEAKER_04: By the fire.
SPEAKER_03: You're right.
Right.
The ogre is circling the fire.
SPEAKER_04: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: Everybody have their secondary characters made?
I have things rolled.
All right.
Ogre's circling the fire.
How far is the woods right on the side of the road here?
Yes.
Could we get to this point?
You could.
Yeah.
All right.
That's where we're sitting.
I'm putting a P for Pindar right there.
Pindar is right there.
Mark your location in the corral.
I can't open the corral.
You're too little.
But you know what you want to do, so go in the corral with the
animals.
Go cohort with the animals.
It's a great hiding area for you, if nothing else.
Yeah.
Think of the chaos of milling animals.
They're not going to see a halfling in there shooting a bow
at them.
It's true.
They will make a bunch of noise.
Right.
X is T for Theron.
Okay.
I am like really large.
Why are you the furthest away?
SPEAKER_02: Well, you're not large until he makes you large.
I'm right beside you.
SPEAKER_03: I make him large before we get close, so I don't
have to cast a spell when we go.
Doc and I were outside talking about the way the enlarge works.
Was it a D4 damage, or has he just got a strength of 18 in the
bonuses?
It gives me strength 18.
That's what I just looked up.
So you're going to get plus one to hit, plus two to damage.
Correct.
Okay.
Because you don't get exceptional strength because we
heard any noise.
When I get my next level in three years, you'll get an extra
die of damage there.
An extra like you'll get, I don't know, more strength.
I don't know.
Whatever.
Okay.
Let me see the X is for Theron.
I just put a T because it was like that.
He wrote in an elvish.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
You are all that I don't see an M on here.
Oh, you're you actually are by the Corral again.
Yeah, you see how he snuck in there with the cows?
Okay.
Move.
I'm between the corral and the one of the tents.
All right.
So you see your halfling move off through the brush quietly.
Fireball.
SPEAKER_03: As far as you are aware.
SPEAKER_01: When are we casting fireball?
SPEAKER_03: Doc's out there with his bow because he's a big
thing.
SPEAKER_04: Baby bow.
Little tiny weapons.
SPEAKER_03: No, your weapons grow with you.
Oh, okay.
Is that how that works?
How?
Yeah, if it's on you, it grows.
And I need that's magical.
I need science on that one.
SPEAKER_02: So Merrick, so you get you got close enough to see
the corral before, but you're there right now.
Right.
There is one of the cows takes notice to you.
Subcal.
SPEAKER_06: He has to kill it to some.
SPEAKER_02: So when you get to that point, you actually see
that up above the camp, what was hidden in the woods from your
previous perspective is another wooden stockade.
The dragon.
God damn it.
The dragon.
And there's a rope going from that stockade down the hill, and
the other end of that rope is in the camp.
Cut that rope.
Okay.
So you're there.
None of the rest of you guys know any of that shit.
That would be a leader.
Are you initiating plan A?
Go!
unknown: What am I doing?
SPEAKER_03: What the fuck?
What are you going to call a chain?
What am I fireballing?
No, do whatever fireball whatever you want.
Do not say that! Yes.
Fireball the corral.
SPEAKER_01: He'll be fireballing a gelatinous groundhog.
He's been after the gelatinous groundhog the whole time.
I read my boat.
I just rolled surprise.
SPEAKER_02: And we did.
And we did not get it.
You were going to have two segments of surprise.
Oh wow.
SPEAKER_01: Fireball.
How many segments does fireball take?
SPEAKER_03: He casts it before.
That initiates right so it initiates the initial.
SPEAKER_02: When you have two segments of surprise, you all
can do an action on your segment.
So for the first two segments, you can do an action.
You can move how however much you can move during a segment.
So not your full round movement, but you can move your like with
like an action worth.
You can 30 feet or something.
One tenth of your movement you can move per segment.
And you can do one action each.
So I assume that the first action is going to be spell
casting.
Correct.
So you are casting fireball.
Okay.
And where are you casting it?
Nobody help him.
You didn't say that was going to be a condition.
SPEAKER_03: Because now we're just screaming.
SPEAKER_06: I'm pretty sure we were shooting the mansion, that
little house thing.
SPEAKER_03: Can we see the give him the map?
Where you are centering your fireball, sir.
SPEAKER_02: We're so dead.
I'm pretty sure.
We're going right there.
So you're casting it into the darkened doorway.
SPEAKER_06: Yes, because we're hoping that'll explode and send
splinters and fire out and splinters everywhere.
SPEAKER_02: Well, behold, this is the first casting of Fireball
on the Retro Rollcast podcast.
What?
Is it?
It is.
You guys have never had Fireball before.
No, we have not.
This is the first Fireball.
I feel like we've been gyps.
We high have Fireball for the first time and we gave it to
him.
Right?
SPEAKER_06: Oh, you gave it to me.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you did this.
I wanted lightning.
You did this.
So you take a pinch of sulfur out of your belt pouch.
SPEAKER_01: He sticks between his cheek and gum chicken gum.
SPEAKER_02: And you mutter the magic incantation.
Ron San.
And a fiery dot streaks out from your outst outstretched hands,
covers the distance between you and the building, and disappears
into the blackness.
SPEAKER_01: Half a second later you roll your damage out.
Nice.
SPEAKER_03: Kaboom.
And now he rolls all one.
How many you need to do?
The Earth Shattering.
Loading some dice.
SPEAKER_06: One more.
Here we go.
SPEAKER_03: This is a bad idea.
SPEAKER_04: Who thought of this plan?
SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
Oh, that's not good.
That's two sixes.
A four, that's ten.
Twenty-one.
No pluses.
No pluses.
No.
It's the best you got.
SPEAKER_06: Yep.
SPEAKER_03: That's it.
That's it.
SPEAKER_06: It's a beginner spell.
SPEAKER_02: It's a beginner fireball.
For a moment, you see the interior of the building light
up in flame.
You see two very large shadowy figures inside, one bigger than
the other.
Shit.
Fuck.
Oops.
We're so dead.
We missed the biggest.
No, no, this is even better.
And then flame erupts out of the out of the front of the
building.
The ogre in the middle of the of the clearing.
And he goes and he's staring at the door with that flames have
just shot out about five feet.
You can see smoke.
Parts of the roof have fallen off, and you can see a couple of
very loosely packed logs have come loose and roll off and come
to a big thud on the side of the big structure.
But the ogre is just standing there dumbfounded looking at the
door.
The cattle are panicked.
unknown: Woo!
SPEAKER_02: In the pen behind.
That's what cow sounds are?
SPEAKER_03: Let's all make cow sounds.
Okay.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so Pinter, you see all of this go down.
There's an intro for it.
Astounded by the power that streaked out of the uh of the of
the elf's fingers.
And you see the the ogre stand and look, you hear starts of
surprise from inside the tents.
Yeah, that's starts of surprise.
Did the building start on fire?
It's been two seconds.
So okay.
SPEAKER_03: Well, I shoot the ogre that's awake and standing
in the middle, I shoot him.
Okay.
Now, with surprise, I don't know that you'd get a bonus for
shooting surprise.
He would not actually don't know.
We just get our actions.
That's the he wouldn't be able to use any bonuses to AC.
I hit him.
A 15.
That's armor class, I don't know, something.
Okay.
Like two.
For three points of damage.
How many?
Three.
Three.
Okay.
That's what I got, man.
SPEAKER_02: And you and your damage was 22.
SPEAKER_03: Well, they get a saving throw.
Technically.
I'm not sure how.
Because you're in a burning building, there's no escape.
Yeah, how do you get a saving throw?
And then they were asleep, so it's not like they could have
rolled out of the way.
SPEAKER_06: Because the whole thing is like half damage it.
SPEAKER_02: Well, that's what saving throws are, but you shot,
did your damage.
Americ.
You were there, you watched, you see the ogre turn around.
Was there a bellow of surprise from the tent?
SPEAKER_03: I am behind.
Yes.
Okay.
I'm gonna attack the ogre that's in the tent.
Okay, so you're gonna you're gonna burrow under the canvas.
Yeah, like you're gonna rush in and backstab him.
That's the goal.
SPEAKER_05: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: Or a surprise assassinator whatever.
Well, he's awake, so it's a backstab.
Yeah, he's awake now.
He's surprised though.
He doesn't know you're there.
Should have had you do that before we did until you're gonna
do it.
SPEAKER_02: We will count that as a charge.
Because you're doing this very you're going in and you're just
sorting whatever happens to be in there.
Right?
You're just sorting things.
SPEAKER_03: Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: Just sorting.
SPEAKER_02: All right, so you very quickly, with all of your
speed, you burrow in under the canvas, the smell hits your
nose.
You're not paying a whole lot of attention to that because you've
got the adrenaline pumping.
There's a large pallet bed of furs and straw, and on it is an
ogre.
He's like his head is up off of the off of the bedding, and he's
he looks like he's about to rise.
Go ahead and roll your attack.
That'll definitely hit 16.
Okay, and we will do backstab damage.
Alright, this is a large dice.
SPEAKER_03: Large creature.
Extra dice or eighth.
Short swords d6 against large.
No, well, wait, is it damage versus large d6?
Or no?
It's d6.
Short swords d8 against large?
Against d8.
No, it's a yeah, it's a d8.
What the hell?
Right here.
Yeah, d8.
That makes zero ten.
God, you suck.
I do suck.
Eight points.
Yeah, eight points.
SPEAKER_02: Eight points of damage.
Okay, so you rip a large gas part of the ogre that you're in
a tent with.
SPEAKER_03: Now I'm stuck in a tent with an ogre.
Great.
You have an action.
With a bleeding anger.
You have a segment of action where you can leave.
Well, I'm still in a tent with an ogre, but you can leave.
SPEAKER_02: I charge the ogre at the fire.
So you're charging into the village.
Into the village.
SPEAKER_03: You should have blessed us first.
Into the front.
Okay.
Yeah, we didn't think this through.
We somebody wasn't thinking it up.
SPEAKER_02: He's just charged as God.
If you charge and use the movement that you can get
through during a segment, you will get your charge through on
segment two.
SPEAKER_05: Okay.
SPEAKER_02: Theorin, you did your action for this round.
Reus.
SPEAKER_04: I want to move as far as I can and get a shot off
with my bow before.
SPEAKER_02: At the ogre by the fire?
Correct.
SPEAKER_04: Keep it around my large now.
I do have double movement rate for being this size.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
Same thing if you wanted to charge.
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you could have a segment too.
He's pretty hard.
I'm gonna I'm not charging, I'm just gonna move forward as far
as I can and then shoot.
SPEAKER_03: Right, because we have two segments, not two
rounds.
Correct.
Correct.
So next round it's initiative.
I missed.
Did you?
Yes.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04: 11.
SPEAKER_02: So you run across the road and wing an arrow at
the ogre, it still doesn't notice you, but it doesn't
matter, it doesn't hit him.
That's why it didn't notice you.
SPEAKER_03: So I'm sneaking up.
And segment two.
I mean, there's enough noise, sure.
I'm sneaking.
Exploding building.
It's easy to sneak.
Snick.
I snucked.
Alright.
So I segment two would be me, back to me, I guess then.
I'll shoot.
And you're still in the woods.
I'm still in the woods.
I'm gonna shoot that ogre again.
Okay.
13.
That's gonna hit armor class four.
That does hit.
For three more points.
It's discouraging when that happens, right?
What?
When you roll low damage dice.
SPEAKER_02: Well, then low damage is still damage.
SPEAKER_03: Right, yeah, but it hurts.
It hurts in your heart.
SPEAKER_02: Merrick, you were locked in melee with a with an
ogre inside a tent.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06: Hug it out.
SPEAKER_02: Not where I wanted to be, but here I am.
This is not a backstab.
Right.
You assassin, but he didn't.
You can't move out.
I mean you could move out.
There's no opportunity attack.
You could he's still surprised, so you could move out if you
didn't or you can slash at him again.
SPEAKER_03: Well, I'm gonna do the opposite of what he wants me
to do.
I'm gonna duck back out of the tent.
SPEAKER_02: All right, so you you burrow in, have him roll.
Give a mighty slash and then you burrow back out.
Yep, I do what scouts do best.
You crawl out from the uh from underneath the and you're
staring at the the cows are all at the other end of the
enclosure now.
Yeah.
They're rushing away.
But you're able to get out.
Do you want to move anywhere else in particular?
Or I'm gonna move.
That was spooky.
SPEAKER_01: They're laughing at you.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm gonna move like around the side of the
enclosure.
Where'd the map go?
Oh, he's got it.
SPEAKER_02: So you're moving here or here?
Second one.
Second one.
So you're moving away from the building.
SPEAKER_03: Yep.
Okay.
And switching to my bow.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
Andrick, you can reach the ogre this segment.
I attack him.
And you get a plus two for charging, and he is surprised,
so he can't react yet.
SPEAKER_05: One day.
SPEAKER_02: Nice.
Okay.
Death.
Roll your ogre two dice damage too large.
SPEAKER_03: Which would be able to- What are you using?
SPEAKER_02: Morning Star, plus one.
SPEAKER_03: It's like two D4.
With one D6 plus one.
Damn, I have a lot of damage.
Or five.
We are all rolling like ass, though.
That's nine total.
SPEAKER_02: Okay for two.
Nine total.
SPEAKER_03: Alright.
SPEAKER_02: I got twenty-one.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you get rolled above that.
SPEAKER_02: The ogre looks very bloodied.
Barely.
Very bloody.
I did that.
SPEAKER_04: Good job.
SPEAKER_02: You're welcome.
We work together.
Do it again.
Probably your Theron.
Theron.
Theron.
Fireball.
Yes.
Fireball.
You're in the woods.
You're admiring the Do it again.
The smoke probably rising up from the from inside the.
SPEAKER_06: I can only do one level three.
SPEAKER_02: All right.
Fire the artillery.
SPEAKER_06: What's that?
SPEAKER_02: You can't cast more than once in a round.
SPEAKER_06: Can't what?
SPEAKER_02: Cast more than once in a round.
Yeah.
And we're so you get the spell, but you can do an action right
now if you want.
Run away.
Throw a dart.
You can taunt them.
There's only one out.
I'm gonna stand.
I'm gonna hold.
Okay, so you're standing there and Reyus.
Or can I get to melee?
Do you have a tinder box?
Uh you can you yes, you can well you can charge.
SPEAKER_06: I got burning hands.
I might as well get a pandemic fire with it.
SPEAKER_04: Okay.
So three.
Negative one.
SPEAKER_05: Okay.
SPEAKER_04: So then that's large the twelve plus two six.
Nine.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
How do you describe dispatching the ogre around the fire?
You sweeping the head from the neck?
You're taller than him.
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm this was just a quick feint and then a
stab and got him out, dispatched him quick.
SPEAKER_02: So sword thrust through the heart.
Yes, sir.
But natural 20 distracted him.
You can see his eyes bug out of his head and it slides off of
your blade and down into the dirt.
Great team effort, guys.
One down, six to go.
SPEAKER_03: Don't forget the two giants.
They're about to five to go.
Okay, roll initiative for the round that we were already in.
Document last.
Roll it.
Three.
Okay.
Well, don't we declare actions before we roll initiative?
Well, the F set rolls on.
Well, okay, but whatever.
We'll use that role.
Tomato to make it three better than the LTS.
SPEAKER_02: This was a surprise round, so sort of all bets are
obvious.
Right.
But now we're in real initiative.
Now it matters.
Roll seven.
So the initiative that the enemies rolled was a one, so
they're going to act first segment out of the surprise
rounds.
And you see here in UC across the across the way, you can see
Grozig, the larger brother, emerge, beard on fire and
bellowing with rage out of the front of the building.
Oh shit, they're fire giants.
SPEAKER_01: Sucking in the smoke.
SPEAKER_02: He he looks left and right, only sees the me.
Oh, he's got the cleric on the very large brass and his much
smaller.
He sees a large armored figure.
And bellowing with rage.
He charges.
Oh, this is bizarre.
What's your AC without Dex bonus?
SPEAKER_03: Without Dex bonus.
Same with width?
Probably.
It's AC zero.
21's like half their hit points, maybe.
Well, there's no way that there's no way that's getting
you.
SPEAKER_02: Giant rolled a two.
Yes.
We like that.
SPEAKER_04: Good giant.
I am nimble and large.
Is that what you are?
He trips you.
SPEAKER_02: Merrick behind you.
He's a nimble job.
You see the canvas under the tent just explode as this large,
very furious ogre that's bleeding from a cut up on its
upper thigh.
Its eye.
Bellows with rage as it comes from underneath the tent in your
direction.
SPEAKER_03: Okay.
SPEAKER_02: From behind the two of you, you see ogres coming out
the flaps of the tents.
One of them charges Edric.
Is that three tents?
That's me.
So the ogre that was at the fire doesn't have a tent.
What is your armor class without dexterity bonus?
SPEAKER_06: Without dexterity bonus, it is a three.
SPEAKER_02: It is a three.
Okay.
It swings at you ineffectually.
And the other one is going to attack Praise that PD I chose.
Is going to attack Rayus.
No.
With a charge.
Oh, this one might actually hit.
That hits AC zero.
No.
SPEAKER_03: It gets a plus two to hit two.
SPEAKER_01: I want to see that role.
Our roles need to be open.
SPEAKER_03: Our roles are.
All rolls, he said.
I can do that.
No.
SPEAKER_00: No, it doesn't July either.
SPEAKER_03: So I haven't been.
I know you haven't been.
I remember the last time we made him do that.
It did not go well for us.
SPEAKER_06: The 20s came out.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they did.
Yeah.
Minimum damage.
Reyes is dead.
SPEAKER_02: For some reason, these turncoats decided to like
you this time.
Throw them away.
They're scared.
Double snake eyes.
All right.
SPEAKER_03: So now we have to declare our actions.
Yeah, declare your actions for your segment.
Okay.
SPEAKER_02: I'm going to charge the giant that charge.
No, wait.
Oh.
And the giant that came from behind the tent is on your tail.
But he's not hidden.
The ogre.
He didn't get to you.
The ogre.
SPEAKER_03: All right.
Cool.
I'm going to shoot that ogre.
Ogre.
Okay.
So you see the ogre chasing him, and I'm shooting it.
And you're shooting that one.
Yeah.
Okay.
Because I, you know, I would like to help.
Can I move out of the woods to do that?
Or can you not move and shoot?
No, you can move.
You should move and move.
Move, then shoot.
Yeah, that's fine.
Or let you.
All right.
Or shoot then move.
Whatever.
I just want to be in charge range next round if it comes in.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, throw your shield down, slide on that to
the next target.
SPEAKER_04: I can throw my giant shield down and you can slide on
that.
You can all slide on my giant shield.
SPEAKER_03: Dex 10.
Dex 10.
Full Hershey Park.
What are you doing?
How are you doing, Merrick?
So the corral itself.
So did you not hit?
Oh, I was waiting until we all declared our action.
I thought we'd declare in the world.
SPEAKER_02: Oh, your second shot would be at the end of the
round, anyway.
SPEAKER_03: Right.
But I'm waiting to declare everybody to declare.
So the the corral, I have a question first.
Is like the openings are big enough I could probably just
step through it, right?
You could get through, you could very easily go on the rail.
My idea is I'm going to basically step through the rails
and shoot him.
Okay.
Just put it between me and him and shoot him.
SPEAKER_06: All right.
And run at the cows.
SPEAKER_02: You're you're in combat with an ogre right now.
Yeah, on a cow.
Attack that ogre.
Battle cow.
Theorin, you're watching chaos erupt across the way.
SPEAKER_06: Magic missile at the fiery target.
SPEAKER_02: At the giant.
SPEAKER_06: The giant.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
The fiery target.
And Reyes, I assume you're going mono emano.
I'm going to run.
SPEAKER_00: I'm out of here.
SPEAKER_02: Running away.
SPEAKER_00: I'm going to go back to the game.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03: Just as a speech.
Running away.
Tactical retreat.
Well, you don't want to take on two giants?
It's one giant nodes or one giant.
SPEAKER_02: You're a giant, remember?
It's not a fire giant.
It's a giant on fire.
SPEAKER_03: I get two attacks.
A fire E giant.
All right, here's my shot of my bow shot at the ogre chasing
Merrick.
Machine hits armor class four.
unknown: Yeah.
SPEAKER_03: That hits.
It hit before.
For five points of damage.
That's my first segment.
Excellent.
SPEAKER_02: All right.
That's the end of the round.
Huh?
Oh, that's the second segment?
That's your second shot for the round.
SPEAKER_03: And he only took one.
Yeah, I just that was it.
We all declared actions.
Yeah, you didn't shoot when you talked about.
Yeah, I didn't shoot the first time.
This is my first action at because you were talking Yeah,
we're at the beginning.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02: Anyway, okay.
Carry on.
You shot twice during the surprise segments.
Yes.
I wasn't going to give you two more shots in the rest of the
round.
I was going to give you one more.
SPEAKER_03: Oh, this is the rest of the round.
SPEAKER_02: The rest of that.
Oh, okay.
I've got surprise.
SPEAKER_03: This fight has been on for twenty seconds.
And then a round starts.
That's what I was doing.
Okay.
SPEAKER_02: So surprise is part of the round?
Yes.
Okay.
It is a one segment of the round.
Interesting.
Understood then.
SPEAKER_03: So this is actually on never played it.
Well, your segment six or whatever your role is.
Okay.
It's different.
Go ahead.
Do your attack.
So I have one shot after I step through the fence.
You can step through the fence and shoot.
All right.
Were you getting this?
Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: You dive through the fence, and as you come up, your
power is gone.
SPEAKER_03: Oh, that'll hit.
What armor quest does it hit?
Yeah.
Neg one.
Yeah, that's an 18.
So negative one.
SPEAKER_02: That's right, you get plus seven.
SPEAKER_03: I'm stupid with a bow.
That hits all of them.
But it doesn't matter because I'm going to roll a one here.
Six.
Five.
That's pretty good.
And he's dead.
By the way, that's 18 total points of damage between you and
I, so that's pretty good.
This ogre's beat up.
Good.
We like that.
Eric.
I swing.
Morning star.
Yeah, the idiot.
That's not good.
That misses.
He's going to need some help in a minute.
SPEAKER_01: I hit an armor class 10.
SPEAKER_03: No, he's going to take it out.
Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Claire's going to house that ogre.
SPEAKER_02: You miss the ogre that's that's fighting you.
Bad job.
unknown: Really bad.
SPEAKER_02: You're casting magic missile at the giant.
Yes.
But I thought this was the same round and he couldn't catch it.
Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03: That was a surprise round, wasn't it?
No, this is technically the same round.
It's not a surprise round, it's a surprise segment.
Beginning of the round.
SPEAKER_02: You can prepare it for the following round and cast
it on segment one of the following round if you would
like.
SPEAKER_06: Okay.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
Okay.
We were a little confused about the mechanics of that.
SPEAKER_06: So sit in the brush and wait for anything before.
SPEAKER_04: Right.
That's exactly why.
In Melee.
But according to what we've been doing, I don't get my two
attacks this round.
I only get one.
Correct.
Yeah.
So we'll go with one.
That's going to hit a lot.
Negative three or four or something like that.
Yeah, negative three.
D12.
All right.
Don't screw the D12 up with the thumb.
Just try not.
Oh, I was pretty close to screwing it up.
So that's 10.
SPEAKER_03: 4 is screwed up.
Yeah.
When you have a D12 and it rolls a four, you're very
disappointed.
Give me a 9 or something.
Yeah.
Give me a real number.
SPEAKER_01: Like a 1 on a 20.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03: So you're getting plus two from your strength.
You're specialized, that's one plus one plus two.
Yeah, so that's four.
And then you're in the first one.
And then you rolled a four.
So it's five plus four.
Now you got plus four.
SPEAKER_04: You slice extra.
SPEAKER_03: Plus five.
I think it's plus six on that earlier.
I think you get plus five.
Yeah, it's plus five.
So nine.
Nine points.
So give the giant two hit points back.
SPEAKER_04: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: It's all right.
We're going to win initiative.
You're going to take them out in their two attack round.
SPEAKER_04: No, yeah.
So I'm six.
SPEAKER_03: Kill anything yet?
Alright, whatever.
SPEAKER_04: No.
Oh yeah.
The ogre that was by the fire standard.
No, strength changes.
That's why.
SPEAKER_02: He shouts the word, did Bell neck send you to kill
me?
SPEAKER_03: Say yes.
SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
SPEAKER_03: If they ask you for God, you say yes.
Yes.
Okay.
All of us are.
SPEAKER_02: Now we are finally at round two.
Gotcha.
Round one.
Actions for round two.
You're in the pen shooting arrows.
You are I'm in the edge of the you're on the edge of the road
and you're shooting arrows at his ogre.
You're in combat.
You are busy preparing a magic missile for this round.
And Reyes is going gigante e-gigante with this wood?
Yes.
With toe to toe with the giant.
I'll get my two this round, right?
Do you have a whole set?
unknown: No.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, why not?
Well, it's three every two.
Does it go two attacks, one attack, or one attack?
I don't know.
These guys are talking.
Sorry.
We're done.
I have to look.
Whatever.
To me, it's right.
It's one.
One and recharge.
SPEAKER_02: You made three attacks last round and two with
your sword.
SPEAKER_03: That's true.
No, that's true.
You did.
SPEAKER_02: No, yeah, I did.
You did two attacks with my bow.
All right.
Yeah, he made an attack in segment one with his bow,
segment two with a sword.
So this will be your one attack.
Oh wow.
Okay.
SPEAKER_03: I'm charging the ogre that's fighting Edric.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so you're leaving aside the one that was
chasing Merrick.
I think he can handle it from here.
Okay, yeah.
You can reach that ogre.
That's the idea.
You are actually running by another ogre that's fighting.
I'm fighting a giant.
SPEAKER_03: He's fighting an ogre and a giant.
Okay.
But I feel much more about his ability to fight both of them
than I do about his ability to fight one.
He's fine.
He'll be fine.
If he's free, he can keep him standing.
This is true.
Okay.
That's the strategy here.
Okay.
By the way, second level always, if I can.
I get behind Edric and use Breach because I have a spear.
So remember, whenever I get into combat, I never charge in front.
I'm always behind one of my friends.
I'm always cowering in the second ring.
Yes.
Okay.
All right.
We get that roll initiative four the round.
All right.
Who's rolling it?
SPEAKER_02: I'll roll this time.
Two.
That's good.
That's good.
We like that.
Bad guys go on five.
All right.
Segment one is any bow missile fire.
SPEAKER_03: I'm shooting.
You're shooting.
No, I'm not.
I'm charging.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, he's charging.
You're shooting.
SPEAKER_03: Yep.
Are you in close combat with him or is that that distance there
not counting?
No, he's on the other side of the I dodged under the fence.
Ooh.
Might not hit this.
Only a 13.
That hits armor class four.
That hits?
Six.
Oh, that's a six.
That's a six.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, nice.
Okay, your arrow streaks out of your short bow.
Lodges directly in the middle of his forehead between his two
eyes.
Enraging.
He gives you a cross-eyed moment as he tries to look at the arrow
from both of his eyes.
Then his eyes roll in the back of his head.
And down he goes.
Alright.
SPEAKER_03: One down.
Told you had this.
How many more we got?
Let's go.
SPEAKER_02: Theron casts magic missile in a spirally
Bildersgate fashion.
Spirally.
That's not bad.
I mean 10, 11, 12.
Okay.
The purple bolts of energy strike the giant who is
bellowing with rage and pain.
Right.
Were you attacking?
That's not your segment, though.
SPEAKER_03: Because you're only getting one for this round, so
you don't go to two.
So you have to wait until segment two.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so segment one has passed.
The giant is bellowing.
One ogre is dead.
Now we are at seg what segment did you guys roll?
Two.
SPEAKER_03: Two.
Okay.
Right.
So this would be where my charge takes effect this round right on
two because I only have one action this round.
That's the charge.
Okay.
Right?
Alright, here we are.
And I'm charging the one on Edric.
And I rolled an 18 with plus two.
This armor class somewhere in the negatives.
I don't hit.
Yep.
Ah, God.
Four or five points of damage.
And then I cower behind Edric so he can take all the hits.
As I'm in the second rank.
SPEAKER_01: I appreciate it.
SPEAKER_03: It's your turn.
Yeah.
Because you went on segment one.
I go to the end of the round, don't I?
We're on segment two.
It's air it's air.
SPEAKER_02: You were shooting arrows, so you're kind of done
for the round.
You do, but you do.
Well, I'll see if you can spot a target.
Anyway.
On the other side of the tents.
Oh yeah, there's cover between Armor Class 6.
Do I hit?
No.
You do not hit.
Armor class five.
What's your facil 20?
Theron, you would you admire the smokey tremendous?
No bonuses to hit at all.
Of your magic mission.
Yeah, I just rolled it.
And we are over to Reyes.
SPEAKER_04: I'm going to attack the giant.
SPEAKER_01: Okay.
I'm sitting next to John.
Oh, is that what you're saying?
That's your excuse.
That's an extra microphone.
SPEAKER_03: What?
SPEAKER_04: Yeah, let's see this.
What do we say?
Five.
Just roll your other dynamic.
17.5.
SPEAKER_02: 22.
Wow.
Grozig has traveled far to get here with him and his brother.
They they traveled over over mountain, over forests and dales
from their home in the bandit kingdoms.
To be slayed by the kingdom.
But Grozig's story ends here.
unknown: Nice.
SPEAKER_02: With his head cleaved from his shoulders.
SPEAKER_03: I am the giant killer.
A moment of silence as his head leaves his body and everybody
goes.
Yeah, yeah.
Everybody probably does look over.
You are admiring your kill.
SPEAKER_02: One attack you made.
I assume you're worse than a minus one armor class from
behind.
Me?
Minus.
SPEAKER_04: I'm a zero from behind.
Well, you don't have a shield from behind.
Oh, from behind.
So yeah, let's take away.
Go ahead and minus two on that.
So without the shield, three.
SPEAKER_02: You take nine points of damage from the wooden club
that clobbers you in the back of the colour.
SPEAKER_03: So you chop the giant's head off and then spang!
SPEAKER_02: Hopefully it's not like the Edric.
That will hit armor class of three.
Nope.
Whoa.
What's your armor class?
Two.
SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
You have decks?
SPEAKER_01: Yes.
unknown: God.
SPEAKER_01: And special armor.
I have a deity and stuff.
SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's what they did.
It's the divine armor.
God has inspired you.
Now that you finally picked one.
SPEAKER_02: A very, very charred ogre.
Very charred ogre.
Very blackened sooty ogre charges out of the building and
heads towards the rope lying in the dirt.
The rope! Oh shit.
SPEAKER_03: That's what you were supposed to do.
Nobody told me to do that.
He told you to cut the rope.
Yeah, I said cut the rope.
He only told you about the rope.
None of us knew about a rope.
You knew about a rope.
Get the rope.
You knew what the rope was.
If that's the case, then you don't even know that I knew
there was a rope.
SPEAKER_02: So shut up.
This is player reaction.
The ogre gives a mighty tug.
Oh God.
Now we're all fucked.
And up the interview or even sustain fire.
Pay attention to anything other than the foe in front of you.
Sarah and you can probably see it clearly.
You see the door fall off of the front of the pen up on the hill.
The pen now.
SPEAKER_01: The pen.
The thing holding a creature.
You'll find out next week.
We got time yet.
So isn't our next week?
SPEAKER_03: What thing could giant are nuclear fear enough to
keep in a pen up the hill?
It's not fear, it's like probably wolves or something.
Could be wolves.
Giant?
It's a giant gelatinous groundhog.
All right.
SPEAKER_01: Who was scouting?
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
Who's our scout?
SPEAKER_02: Just to give you the let's see if you merrick.
You can get a shot at the at the ogre that just hit him in the
back, if you would like.
Oh, sure.
Hold on.
SPEAKER_03: It's in close combat with him, doesn't we have to
make it?
SPEAKER_02: Yes, there's a there's a chance you might.
But its back is to you, and he is beyond the ogre.
So there's a better chance you're gonna hit the ogre than
your friend.
Well numerically find that four.
SPEAKER_01: There's a chance.
SPEAKER_02: If I roll under a four, you're gonna hit the ogre.
On a what?
D6.
unknown: No.
SPEAKER_02: So it's 50 feet.
SPEAKER_03: No.
SPEAKER_06: Do it.
SPEAKER_03: Nope.
Nope.
Okay.
I like them on.
But there isn't.
So you what about the one that pulled the rope?
Yeah, what about him?
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
You could aim at him.
And then all you would have to do is really roll under.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's really.
He is milking this, isn't it?
He's really trying to get you to shoot Doc.
And relying on your dice to roll terrible.
It's the same percentages, but you roll on the other side of
the dice.
So what you're telling me is if I miss.
So whether you think you're gonna roll high or roll low, but
that die roll happens whether I hit or not, right?
What's that?
If I rolled a hit.
If you miss him, then you have to roll to hit me.
No.
SPEAKER_02: Well, we take the same to hit roll.
So if you rolled a hit, no, you see me rolling that would hit
either of them, I would have you roll it, and then whether that
number would hit the person that it actually hit.
Yeah, no.
unknown: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you're like plus seven to hit.
Right, but it doesn't matter in this edition.
It doesn't matter whether I hit.
It's I rolled a hit, he rolls to see who the arrow hits.
That's terrible.
It is terrible.
It's but it's what it is what it is.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
You might hit the ogre and miss him on the same armor.
SPEAKER_02: So you have a rifle, your buddy is wrestling with a
person.
Are you going to shoot?
SPEAKER_03: But they're not wrestling, they're fighting with
swords and stuff.
So which means they're not they're not hugging.
SPEAKER_02: But they're not they're not standing.
They're not this isn't a Rocky fight where they're standing and
that is my fighting style.
They're moving around.
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I think they're stepping back to step
back.
SPEAKER_04: Right.
It's like that slap fighting contest.
That's the way we do it.
That's right.
SPEAKER_03: Okay.
Round three.
All right.
See that guy with the serious chops?
Uh those guys are ridiculous.
They are.
It's WWE time.
So round three, actions.
I'm already engaged in combat, so I'm gonna keep hitting him.
SPEAKER_02: So you're engaged, you're not engaged, you're in a
you're in a cow pen with a bow.
SPEAKER_03: So at this point, how many enemies are there that
are not engaged in combat?
Zero.
SPEAKER_02: There's a puller.
There's one that hit him on the back, and then there's the ogre
that was charred and crawled up and pulled the rope.
SPEAKER_03: Well, if it hit him on the back, isn't it engaged
with him?
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
SPEAKER_01: Does he at least die when he pulls the rope?
SPEAKER_03: Last act.
So I'm gonna try to move to a place where I can get a shot at
the rope pulling ogre.
The rope pulling ogre.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
Yeah, go for it.
You can do that.
You heard the door collapse on the pen.
You don't know what that portends yet.
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
SPEAKER_02: What's in the fireball?
SPEAKER_01: Did we smell anything coming on the field?
SPEAKER_02: Firen, you're standing on the other side of
the road completely safe.
Alright.
What are you doing this round?
SPEAKER_06: I'm attacking.
You have I don't know what's coming out of that pen yet.
I'm not wasting the bigger.
SPEAKER_03: Right, so that's yeah, so let's waste spells on
ogres that are continual light hitting him in the back makes it
harder to hit him.
I'm gonna smoke him.
SPEAKER_04: Don't waste your spell.
SPEAKER_02: Wait, you're casting it on Reyes?
SPEAKER_06: No, on the ogre attacking him from behind.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
Alright, so you're casting that spell.
You don't get to play a wizard in the city.
Reyes, you're turning a fighter all the time.
Okay.
SPEAKER_03: That's fine too.
All right, roll initiative.
I already rolled.
So somebody at Doc rolled.
SPEAKER_02: Go ahead and roll.
Five.
All right.
Ogre ogres are going first, and whatever it is that's in the
pen.
Okay.
Whatever it is.
SPEAKER_03: I attack on segment one.
This is the one.
What's in the pen?
SPEAKER_02: Right.
What's in the bar?
SPEAKER_03: Right, because I only attacked one slash on my
charge.
So.
SPEAKER_02: Alright, so you can go.
I don't think there was any other missile fire.
Not in my direction, hopefully.
SPEAKER_03: A 19.
Oh.
I know, right?
It's good, but not a 20.
Six points of damage.
I mean, I haven't rolled above halfway on any of my damage dice
yet.
Well, here's the thing.
I don't think you guys are well, he's taken some damage.
Oh, yeah.
I'm not saying, yeah.
I'm not saying it's going poorly.
I'm just saying it's not going as well as it could.
It's taking longer than it should.
It is.
It's not taking longer than it should.
We're in like the third round.
Yeah, this is only dead.
They should all be dead.
They are almost all dead.
We're doing good.
SPEAKER_02: I'll let you get around the tent and see the one
in the dirt, and you can get off a shot because you can move that
far in segment one.
SPEAKER_03: It's gonna look like that.
SPEAKER_02: Keep saying 26, like we're gonna across the clear
clearing.
Can you do one point of damage?
SPEAKER_03: Yes.
SPEAKER_02: You can do one four times four times.
Dead.
Yay.
So that had one hit point left coming out.
SPEAKER_03: But he still got to the rope.
I blame Theron for that.
This is a setup.
It's all your fault.
Bad job.
SPEAKER_06: I didn't get to go yet.
I didn't even catch my thing yet.
I didn't do things yet.
SPEAKER_03: Well, the the hard part is we didn't know he
existed.
No.
Right.
Sadly.
You say this weed like you didn't know about the rope.
You were the scalp.
SPEAKER_06: We're scalped.
SPEAKER_03: It was the cow's fault.
Why didn't he go cut the rope?
You're so distracted by the cow.
He should have like 30 feet up, and then when the rope was
yanked, to be fair, I was told about the rope right before the
fireball went off.
Exactly.
Oh, rope.
Like literally right before.
SPEAKER_02: 45 minutes in this.
Out of the pen.
Out of the pen, up on the hill.
Two large troll trolls.
Well, at least we have fire handy.
Fire.
Make tentative steps.
Troll.
Yeah, that's a big thing.
SPEAKER_03: Troll in a pen.
Troll on the pen.
So that's two hill giants.
The question is, how do you get them in there?
Four ogres.
Troll farming.
And two trolls.
We got this.
SPEAKER_06: Oh, we got two of them, too.
We breed twice as many.
SPEAKER_02: And the ogre takes a swing at Reyos.
Not a problem.
We got this.
That will not hit.
That was there.
But so you see the two trolls up on the hill.
The one ogre is still swinging at him, but that's the other
ogre is dead.
Okay.
So there's two ogre and two trolls.
SPEAKER_03: So what's left standing?
We got one fighting.
We have one giant.
SPEAKER_02: Well, actually, we have two ogres fighting, right?
Right.
The one fighting you two.
I forgot.
Yeah.
And then the one just died, and then the the two trolls.
Right.
So we have one giant, two ogres, and two trolls.
SPEAKER_03: Giant's dead.
One giant's dead.
There were two in the building.
SPEAKER_01: No, there was a giant dead.
SPEAKER_03: There were two large figures in the building.
An ogre and a giant.
Oh, okay.
All right.
We have two ogres, two trolls.
SPEAKER_01: We're still waiting for the giants.
SPEAKER_03: The ogres are damaged.
Okay.
Well, hold on.
Did you attack anything?
SPEAKER_02: No, it's all about it's not.
It just rolled around you guys' initiative.
SPEAKER_03: Well, I went off in segment one.
SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's true.
Because I had two attacks.
SPEAKER_03: But he never took it in segment one.
Yeah, my male.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02: And your second bow shot will won't be till the end
of the round.
The end of the round.
So Hendrik, yours, you're still with one.
SPEAKER_03: But Doc gets segment zero or one right now.
He's got a big thing.
Oh, because he's because he's got it.
So first multi-attack is we need one of those now serving.
It is damn hard to keep track of.
It is AC32.
Oh, that hits.
There's extra stuff going on when there's segments versus
ever.
12.
I kind of like it.
I do too.
Yeah, it's fun.
I like the system.
It's just a matter of when, like the timing is a little more
convoluted in this than other systems.
Rayus' armor is getting soaked with many different types of
blood.
SPEAKER_02: As he severs the femoral artery of an ogre.
SPEAKER_03: All right.
So you killed him?
Yeah.
Nice.
So he you got giant ogre and human blood all mixed in, right
all over you.
Right.
I'm gonna go give you a big one.
Where's the human blood then from?
It would be big because you're big.
Kabir, little guy.
No.
SPEAKER_02: At that same moment, you finish your spell.
SPEAKER_03: Oh god.
What did he do?
SPEAKER_02: On me.
No.
SPEAKER_03: I thought we had a talk about this with our wizard.
SPEAKER_02: No.
SPEAKER_03: I don't remember.
Do we need to have the talk again?
Eric.
SPEAKER_06: We didn't have the talk yet.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we did.
So now everybody knows we're here.
Well, I guess the fireball.
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, the fireball probably Yeah, if they don't
know we're here by now, they're finding an ogre.
SPEAKER_03: Right.
I'm gonna try to give fire still standing.
SPEAKER_02: Explosions probably aren't uh natural one.
Oh my god.
All right, let's see how bad that is.
Where's your morning star?
Somewhere over there now.
Not bad.
You stumble, keep control of your weapon, of course.
Ideally.
Oh my god.
The ogre is going to be minus on its next attack against you.
SPEAKER_01: He's punishing you before you.
Thank you.
SPEAKER_03: So how far are the trolls?
Wait, didn't you already shoot?
They're on top of the second arrow.
Well, that's that'd be at the end of the round.
That isn't the end of the round.
So my end of the round.
I also wrote a natural one against the ogre.
What the fuck is happening?
Let's see what happened.
Momentum shift!
SPEAKER_02: I wrote another one.
For something.
That's not good.
It's not bad.
Your arrow twangs on your wrist.
I was stabbing him with a spear.
Oh, that's my fate.
Yeah, you stumble.
Both of you stumble attacking this ogre.
Edric bumped into me and screwed me up.
Now you're no longer behind the first rank.
I get it.
SPEAKER_03: I'm an option to swing at now.
I get it.
SPEAKER_02: He tried to go back and you tried to go forward at
the same moment.
Right.
Okay.
Merrick.
How far away are the trolls?
Uh long distance.
Like long range?
Long range, yes.
SPEAKER_04: So minus what, four?
Four.
So you're only plus three.
SPEAKER_02: Oh no.
SPEAKER_03: Right.
I wouldn't bother taking that shit.
Oh no.
But everything else here is engaged in combat with someone.
Correct.
All right, I'll shoot at the trolls.
SPEAKER_06: Weak.
Why don't you just shoot a cow?
SPEAKER_03: That'll miss.
Did you even try doing math?
A nine gives me.
I'm sorry, a seven.
I'm sorry, how do you get a seven?
It's minus four for range.
Plus seven to hit.
So plus eight is an eleven.
What's your thaco?
Oh, wait, yeah, plus seven.
Never mind.
Math is hard.
15 minus 4 is 11.
No, you're still doing it wrong.
So AC sticks.
You're a damn rookie.
You ever played this game before?
I told her Bob miss is ball.
All that time.
SPEAKER_01: The moment he saw it, I go, yeah, I missed.
SPEAKER_03: It's done.
Show your work, though, dude.
He knows his character.
He knows.
Show your work.
I've been playing this game for a while.
I can tell when I miss.
SPEAKER_04: Round four.
SPEAKER_02: That's true.
I didn't get my second.
Oh, that's right.
You get your second.
Well, don't miss what?
You don't have an enemy.
Can I go over and engage?
Don't engage me.
You can go over and get into combat with the rest of your
move, but you can't attack this round.
Well, I'm going to engage you towards the trolls.
Yeah.
So you're going to start heading towards the trolls.
Heading towards the trolls.
SPEAKER_03: I like that.
Keep them.
I know what I'm doing next round.
Heading towards the trolls.
Away from the trolls.
No.
You know my shoulders.
No.
My ground.
No.
I'm going to perform a really difficult task.
I'm going to look for a piece of burning wood.
SPEAKER_02: Very large burning bonfire.
Yeah.
The bonfire?
SPEAKER_04: Hey, grapple.
I did not read those rules.
Throw them into the bonfire, dude.
Grappling.
SPEAKER_03: You're huge.
Grappling, you're not.
You're enormous.
Just pick them up and throw them into the bonfire.
SPEAKER_02: Can I learn grappling?
Grappling or troll might not be the one that's large against
large.
SPEAKER_04: Even their nose is a weapon.
SPEAKER_03: Like every illustration in A D D, their
nose is like a fucking point.
You're forgetting the critical.
There's two of them.
You can grapple when there's one.
So next this round, it's going to be a single attack round for
the two of you.
SPEAKER_02: Correct.
You put them together.
The trolls appeared intent on murdering everybody that they
can find.
I have no question about it.
Yes.
I need actions from you.
Everybody into the burning building.
You guys have both ineffectually attached attacked and you're in
combat with an ogre.
Right.
Yes.
Reyes is heading towards the trolls.
Theron is admiring his light bulb that has appeared on the on
a dead ogre's forehead.
Well, you could do something this round.
And Merrick is has just finished finishing off a one hit point.
You know, it'd be a really good idea.
Charred ogre.
Burning hands against trolls.
SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_06: That's why I'm saving it.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
Time.
So I need actions for this round.
Saving it.
SPEAKER_03: What's that like?
SPEAKER_02: So I assume the two of you are getting on the city.
SPEAKER_03: Yes, I'm engaging in com I'm engaged in stabbing this
ogre.
We gotta take it out.
I'm angling to get a good shot at the trolls.
This is about to get really bad.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're uphill.
You can you have line of sight.
Burning arrow.
You might not have line of sight when they get down, so you can
move on the inside of the tents.
SPEAKER_06: But don't they heal?
SPEAKER_03: How hard would it be to get on top of the fence?
SPEAKER_06: Healed.
SPEAKER_03: Just like you should go to a corner and climb up the
post and stand on the post.
SPEAKER_02: To get up on the fence, remain balanced and still
shoot arrows.
With the decks of 16?
You can do that.
SPEAKER_03: Give me my legalist moments.
It has no bearing on anything.
SPEAKER_02: So yeah, you can do it.
Okay.
SPEAKER_03: No bearing.
But it's not like they've chopped them flat.
These are pointy and say yeah.
You don't know that.
SPEAKER_02: The autistic realism person inside of me doesn't want
to allow it, but it's fine.
We're good.
So you got a hint of the schism?
I'm like, you wouldn't be able to see That's not.
You'd like to take a minus five or something, but you're doing
two things at once.
SPEAKER_03: Standing on a log isn't real hard.
Right.
SPEAKER_02: Eric, you're fighting.
Theron, what are you doing?
You're still on the other side of the road watching all this go
down and the I was told to stay back.
Not cast any more spells.
Just do that.
I was told to not cast any.
But I just asked what they told you to do.
I asked, what are you doing?
That is fair.
I'm preparing different things.
So you're not going to do anything this this round.
SPEAKER_06: Correct.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
And Reyes, you are die moving towards the trolls.
Are you countercharging the trolls or are you letting them
come to you?
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm not charge up, man.
Set to receive charge.
Okay.
Do you have a weapon that does that?
No.
Oh.
Well a big burning log.
SPEAKER_02: I have a log.
What we can if you lose initiative and the trolls and
the trolls charge, if you're there receiving them, you're
going to go first.
Okay.
That's what I'm going to do.
And you can hold your action even if you don't lose
initiative if you want to do that.
It's so you're putting yourself between the trolls and the rest
of the deal.
Gotcha.
Okay.
Initiative time.
Go, somebody who has a rolls.
Darren, it was a decent one.
SPEAKER_03: You're doing nothing.
Troll of goddamn dice.
Jesus.
SPEAKER_02: He didn't make light appear out of nothingness.
Two.
Yes, he did.
Alright, trolls are going on three.
Fireball.
SPEAKER_03: So anybody on segment one.
SPEAKER_06: So arrows I can learn it again.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_03: Shooting at a troll.
Are the trolls closer this time?
So you're minus.
I missed.
Never mind.
How do you miss a troll?
With a two.
SPEAKER_02: Like that.
Well.
Yeah, you can be forgiven for not doing the math on that one.
Do the math.
I want to see it.
All right.
Segment two rolls around.
Alright.
SPEAKER_03: I'm still.
You two are at minus one.
Right.
I'm reorienting behind Edric.
So you're what you're giving me minus one to hit?
Yes.
Seven uh 15 with the minus one.
That's gonna be an armor class of two.
That hits?
Actually, it's more like negative one, but whatever.
11 points of damage.
That is just what you needed.
Nice.
So as I recover from my stumble and reset myself, I stab the
ogre right into the lower back, driving the spear up into his
vitals.
And then driving him to the ground and standing atop my kill
with triumph and then looking at the trolls with cowardice.
SPEAKER_06: Yes, yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_02: That's sound heroic.
That was following trying to go hide behind the cleric again
first before I do that.
But I'll allow it.
Did you catch the floor?
I'm letting him shoot arrows from the top of the fence.
SPEAKER_03: I'll let you have your moment.
Did you catch the looking at the ogres with cowardice combat?
Looking at them all.
He only became heroic when the cleric stepped out of the way.
I've been doing well with my D20, except for that fumble.
You're rolling good damage today.
No, I wasn't.
Eric only until then.
You were about to attack.
SPEAKER_01: I can do nothing then?
I'm done?
SPEAKER_03: Correct.
You could heal me.
SPEAKER_02: You have no target apparently next round.
If a troll decides to charge you, which I haven't determined
that yet, then you can do the swing in first.
SPEAKER_01: Just for the group, what I plan on doing next turn
is by the fire where I am, doing chant.
SPEAKER_03: The fire.
SPEAKER_01: What does that do?
Within a 30 radius, you get plus one to everything, and he the
trolls get minus one to everything.
SPEAKER_02: I thought that was bless.
So yeah, chant is a different version.
Yeah, it works differently than bless.
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03: So if you want to bring individuals, chant is a
radius.
So if you can bring them to the fire, aren't they?
To the fire.
I'm going to bless yelling at the time.
Bring him here.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
Not them.
But this but that's next round's actions.
Yes.
Not those.
Correct.
Yeah.
I agree with you.
You were doing nothing.
SPEAKER_06: Yes.
SPEAKER_02: You were waiting for the trolls to attack.
And let me see what they are doing.
Because they have I'm forging along with they have three
targets in their eyes.
SPEAKER_03: So the one on the right.
Well, him and I, Edric and I are further away, correct?
A little bit.
Okay.
Every little bit else.
SPEAKER_02: We're like out of sight, too, with the bonfire,
right?
The one on the right attacks Reyes.
The one on the left attacks Edric.
SPEAKER_03: Perfect.
Good.
Shared wealth.
Wait.
Maybe I'll get in front and receive a charge.
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
Okay, so you get to attack first because you were waiting on it.
Yeah.
I don't think that did it.
SPEAKER_04: Maybe though.
Do the math.
What AC did you hit?
I'm getting there.
SPEAKER_02: Using his toes and fingers.
And remember, we're trying to teach the kids that Thacko would
be hard.
SPEAKER_04: It's not hard, and I did not hit.
I hit AC seven.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: No, you didn't.
That's it?
So seven.
We're doing more math.
I want to hear the math out loud.
You swing and two claws.
Seven claws plus two.
Plus three, because you get a plus and you get a plus one to
hit, and it's plus one enchanted with 30.
So plus three.
So 10.
That would be AC six.
SPEAKER_04: Shit.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
First hit attack hit an armor class of three.
Which I know doesn't hit you.
Second claw attack hits an armor class of negative four.
That definitely does it.
Which does hit and the bite attack hits an armor class of
negative two.
How many attacks?
SPEAKER_03: Three.
Three per.
This is actually as bad as fighting the fight we just
fought.
This is worse.
Without a fireball to start.
Without a fireball to start.
And they regenerate.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, claw attack does one point of damage.
It's right.
That's not the one you were worried about.
No.
Bite.
We had a cleric.
I have one.
The bite attack does six points points of damage.
Okay.
All right.
And on Edric.
First attack hits.
Right.
The one on Edric first attack hits a minus five.
SPEAKER_03: That'll do it.
This is where he gets shredded and we're done.
SPEAKER_02: Second attack hits a plus three.
Nope.
And bite attack hits nothing at all ever.
Yeah.
unknown: Ever.
SPEAKER_02: Never ever.
So one hit.
That was lucky.
That was lucky.
One point of damage.
SPEAKER_03: And the the the claw attack does three points of
damage.
Nice.
37.
Yeah, but now you're engaged in combat.
Can you cast spells in combat?
You can.
You can, but then you have to worry about segments and
interruptions.
Right.
Okay.
SPEAKER_02: Right.
If this was the round that he was casting on, there would be a
problem.
It would he actually declared that for the following.
SPEAKER_03: Right, right, right.
I'm just not sure because he can declare and then it's the timing
that matters.
Missile fire for end of round.
At what?
Everybody's engaged.
Yeah.
Trolls aren't.
Yeah, they are.
Yeah, they both charge.
One with you, one with Edric.
You might have to bust out your sword.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02: And I'm sure you backed up with Edric.
SPEAKER_03: So yeah, so as to remain behind him.
I'm still standing over the my kill.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I got one foot on and like the big game hunter.
SPEAKER_06: Selfies.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
Right.
Make it a social media.
He's drawing with charcoal.
I'm not firing.
I am putting my bow away.
I'm posting on swordandsorcery.com.
You're declining your shot.
SPEAKER_01: Next round.
It's like when the king goes up after something's already dead
and just puts a spear in the middle.
SPEAKER_02: Next round of declared actions.
SPEAKER_03: I'm charging the troll that's on Edric.
SPEAKER_02: So well, I would say you're already in the 10-foot
range for combat.
So I don't need the charge.
You're not engaged.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
All right.
Well, then this would technically be my two attack
round.
Okay.
So you're attacking two attack rounds.
Merrick, what are you doing?
I am going to circle around behind the troll engaged with
the cleric.
Okay.
And angle for a backstab.
Okay.
SPEAKER_02: You can angle around, you're not going to be
able to do the backstab with round.
That's what I thought.
And you are casting chant.
Casting chant.
What's the casting time on that?
I don't know.
SPEAKER_04: 700.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, we're going to find out.
SPEAKER_06: How close do we have to be for his chant?
SPEAKER_02: Three hours later.
Darren.
SPEAKER_06: 30 feet.
SPEAKER_02: Darren, what are you doing?
I see where the map is.
It's awful marked up at this point.
That's fine.
SPEAKER_03: And it might contain a spoiler.
So let me Yeah, it probably looks like one of those
Gettysburg battle maps where they got blocks of troops moving
different directions.
It has hit point totals on it.
So good.
We won't know what they mean, though.
For all we know, it's a giant.
You can just leave that on there.
Nobody'll pay it.
I think we know.
We'll go on the honor system.
SPEAKER_06: The casting time is one round.
SPEAKER_03: Oh shit.
That ain't never happening.
So that's like tomorrow.
Well, next.
Next.
It might as well be tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02: Theron, you are here.
SPEAKER_03: It's going to be over.
SPEAKER_02: On the other side of the room.
Bonfire is here.
Okay.
Edric is here.
Troll Pinder over here.
SPEAKER_06: Okay.
SPEAKER_02: 10 turns.
Got troll on Reyes here.
Merrick is over here standing on a fence post.
This is stupid.
It's going to take too long.
SPEAKER_06: Try magic missile at the one after Reyes.
SPEAKER_03: So this one, you're magic missile on that one.
Okay.
Prepared, I guess.
Okay.
SPEAKER_01: I don't want to do that anymore.
SPEAKER_03: You don't want to cast chance?
I just realized how long it will take.
SPEAKER_01: It's one round.
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03: That's right.
But you declared last round, so this is actually our declaration
phase in this round anyway.
So Right.
It's not an official declaration.
Last round wasn't.
Your official declaration is required.
You can still cast a spell, but it won't be the next round.
Yeah.
That one would.
But any other spell, he could choose it.
If it's a spell or choose, he could choose a whole new thing
to do.
So he wait, is it a round or a turn?
SPEAKER_06: It says one round casting.
SPEAKER_03: Oh.
So if it start on second two, it'll finish on second two.
SPEAKER_01: That's not as much as bad as it's just next.
Right.
SPEAKER_03: Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_01: We're going to do chance.
So you're going to start your chance.
SPEAKER_02: Yes.
SPEAKER_03: I miss spake.
SPEAKER_02: And you understand that if you get hit, you're
going to lose the ability to cast this.
SPEAKER_03: I will not I will not.
Okay.
I will.
SPEAKER_02: I'm chanting.
And your magic missile and you are quite a throck.
Initiative gets darker.
SPEAKER_03: Well, I thought it's my turn too already.
That was that later round.
SPEAKER_04: Trolls go on six.
Double attack round.
For me it is.
SPEAKER_02: Alright, well, I'm not charging the troll.
So missile fire and double attacks go on segment one.
SPEAKER_03: It's only the two of us, right?
Uh hit.
Okay.
Armor class two.
Hit.
Both hit.
Five points of damage.
Yay! Oh, nice.
Yay!
SPEAKER_04: So that's what have we figured as well?
Plus one, plus two.
Plus five.
Plus five, yeah.
So seventeen.
SPEAKER_02: Seventeen points of damage.
SPEAKER_03: Your hold max damage on a D12.
That's berserk.
That's what we needed.
We need a lot of that.
Okay.
You guys and your dice, man.
I tell you what.
You got all those dice down there.
You need like four of them.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, troll Iker.
SPEAKER_03: These are from Battletech.
SPEAKER_02: Oozes from the troll wounds.
The four different colors.
Yeah.
Okay, lots of Iker, hopefully.
Regular segment actions on segment one.
Merrick.
You are in prime behind his troll.
You are in prime position behind his troll.
Okay, then I'm gonna backstab.
That's the goal.
Edric, you begin chanting.
Um streaks of purple energy, streaks from the hand of the elf
across the road.
SPEAKER_06: From the magical bush across the road.
SPEAKER_03: Not the first time I've heard those words.
Oh, that's terrible.
That is ass, brother.
That's a four.
That is re-roll the leaner.
Re-roll the leaner.
SPEAKER_04: Leaners get re-rolled.
SPEAKER_03: You doubled your damage then.
SPEAKER_06: Eight, nine, ten.
SPEAKER_03: Ten.
Okay.
That wasn't some kind of ambiguous leaner.
That was a clearly one leaner.
That was a leaner.
That was a leaner.
That was a leaner.
SPEAKER_06: That was a lean.
SPEAKER_03: It's a D4.
D4 is a good one.
There's only one way that they don't lean.
Only where shut up.
The DM said it was okay.
That was fine.
SPEAKER_02: Pulls rip and tear and bite.
Took it off.
Yeah, it was a four.
On Reyes.
Tear and Bite.
First hits a negative two.
Yep, that'll work.
Second claw hits a negative five.
SPEAKER_00: No, that's not good.
SPEAKER_02: And bite hits eight.
See?
Look at that.
So that is fortunate for you.
Total of eight max damage.
See?
SPEAKER_03: The double snake eyes from last time have rolled
back around.
No, see, it's because when you gave him the two points of
damage, your dice were like, oh, I gotta make up this shit.
Yep, that's what it was.
Damn karmic dice.
Yeah, it is karmic.
The other troll has two possible targets.
Yeah, I wasn't really second rank in this.
No.
To be fair, when I heard him casting, I'm like, ooh, I still
don't want to be in the way of anything.
SPEAKER_02: So first attack is on Pinder, and that doesn't hit
anything.
Second attack is also on Pinder.
Armor class three, by the way.
And that hits armor class of two.
I'm a three, so yes.
That's the claw.
And then the that's the claw.
The bite attack goes on Edric.
Oh.
And that hits an armor class of three.
No.
SPEAKER_01: Yes!
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so that was four two.
You one.
Okay.
Two points of damage.
Chant chant dodge.
SPEAKER_03: Chant chant dodge.
You're dancing as part of your channel, apparently.
SPEAKER_02: So you started you started on on one segment one,
so your chant will go off on segment one next round.
Yes.
SPEAKER_04: Second attack.
SPEAKER_02: That would be right now.
Yeah, second attack time.
Not this round.
I hit it.
Next round?
Okay.
SPEAKER_04: Negative two.
SPEAKER_03: Okay, that hit.
And 13 more to him.
I need a better damage dice.
Six.
Alright.
What die?
The troll.
I'm not touching any of your goddamn dice.
SPEAKER_02: Troll twitching falls off of your blade and into
the dirt.
Try it.
No, I mean touching it.
SPEAKER_03: I'm going to.
Do it now.
Touch it.
And what was your role?
I hit armor class negative four for six points of damage.
SPEAKER_02: Six points of damage.
Okay, next round.
You're finishing your spell.
Yes.
This is one attack round for the two of you.
So you're going on normal initiative.
Right, normal number.
But you're both in combat.
Merrick, you I am assuming are going to attempt your backstab
on the other troll.
Yes.
SPEAKER_06: You're and you are heading towards the troll that's
down in case I need to cast burning hands.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
So you're crossing the thing.
You're not casting burning hands, but you're you're moving.
Or you could just fight.
Pick it up and throw it in the fire.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_06: Throw it on the big How long does he have still
engorged to work that hand?
SPEAKER_03: It could be up to four hours if he's taking a
pill.
I don't know if I need some help with that here.
He's got 30 minutes left.
Oh my god.
He's gonna be all swole.
Everyone can be all swole for swole for another 30 minutes.
SPEAKER_02: I think that's possibly more juvenile than even
us.
That one does top tier, man.
I don't give you credit for that one.
Oh dying.
Okay.
Okay.
So initiative for this round.
SPEAKER_04: All right.
Somebody down there.
I've rolled a ticket.
D6.
SPEAKER_03: Six.
Fuck it.
All right.
Trolls go on two.
So keep in mind I would definitely like to get back into
the second round of not being the frontline guy.
SPEAKER_02: All right, but the trolls are going on two.
SPEAKER_03: I'm just letting you know.
But on one, we have some special stuff.
Right.
What is our what does the chant do for us?
SPEAKER_01: You get plus one.
To hit, plus one to damage, and plus one to saving throws.
Okay.
They get minus one to the same.
SPEAKER_03: Minus one to hit, minus one to damage?
And saving.
Damn, we should have how long's this spell last?
We should have done that a while.
Forever.
Forever.
Just right here is just No, it's just like when you talk about,
like, oh, I got a fireball, and we're like, all right, that's
great.
Like, maybe you should think, what could I do to help this
old?
You should leave this spell.
SPEAKER_02: Why don't we should do this before we start combat?
Any round one actions at all?
No.
You mean segment one?
Segment one actions, yes.
No.
Okay.
Troll go on two.
And they're only one troll.
And the troll that is still really kicking.
One's laying on the ground regenerating right now.
Correct.
SPEAKER_03: I'm on my way.
I'm gonna pick him up.
SPEAKER_02: No, dude, save your spectrum.
SPEAKER_06: That's what I said.
If you get to him in time, you're good.
SPEAKER_02: First claw attack is going to be on Pinder.
Okay.
unknown: Instead of unneeded.
SPEAKER_02: And that will hit nothing.
Okay.
That would hit an armor class of seven.
I'm sure.
Alright, yeah.
I'm a three.
Second attack is going to be on Pinder.
Okay.
That will hit an armor class of negative four.
I'm a three.
And that'll be two points of damage.
Okay.
And third attack, well, this this troll has it in for you.
SPEAKER_03: I mean, at this point, he might as well just
keep attacking me.
He is.
He saw the point of years.
SPEAKER_02: He knows you're a pure blood.
He knows I taste better.
Pure blood half elf.
SPEAKER_03: Elf tastes good.
Elf.
And that will hit an armor class of seven, which is not you.
All right.
Thank goodness.
So I took two points of damage from another claw that's a good
thing.
And some of the stab wounds I did.
So you need to roll one more damage then, because I never got
that second damage.
Oh, one.
All right.
I'd like to thank the DM for rolling like ass for damage.
I have been too.
I roll a three every time on my D8.
Don't even try and hand me another piece of crap D8,
though.
I've got my own crappy dish.
Well, I feel you guys.
SPEAKER_02: When you saw giants and trolls and ogres, your
immediate thought was, oh my god, the GM is being mean to us.
You're level five and you've got shit.
Oh, we get it.
Oh no, you're mean to us.
SPEAKER_04: But you're still dick.
I get this as an even encounter.
This doesn't abdicate you from being a dick.
You're still.
SPEAKER_01: Well, nothing ever does.
Two trolls and waiting.
That's dick.
No, no.
No, that's good GMing, right?
SPEAKER_03: Up off of the dirt, the troll rises.
Alright.
Pick him up and throw him into the fire.
That's what I want to do.
Well, he's alive now.
SPEAKER_04: He's gonna bite me, yeah.
Slash him down.
SPEAKER_03: So it's Eric's fault.
Segment six actions.
So this is our two attack round, right?
One.
One attack round.
I'm stabbing backstabbing.
I did take into account your bonus.
Alright, so I'm stabbing the troll in front of me who has it
out for me.
Ooh, I'm gonna miss this time.
That's a six plus two, gives me an armor class of nine.
Yep.
Nope.
Debaco is easy, kids.
It'd be no very easy.
Oh, that should hit.
What do you see?
Negative one.
Okay, yep.
Are these large?
Does this count as a backstab?
It does.
Death.
Add that damage.
I want you to roll that blue dice that you tried to hand me.
I'll roll that one.
Alright, we will.
Plus one.
11 points.
For everyone's reference, that blue die he tried to hand me
rolled a two.
Which wasn't a one.
I haven't rolled any ones on my die yet.
Your blade, your blade strikes deep.
Deep striking in a leg.
SPEAKER_02: And black troll blood uses over the blade.
SPEAKER_03: Is it red in the body?
It's really probably a black icker.
SPEAKER_02: Now, Edric, you cast your chant and you're standing
there.
Yeah.
Oh, hold on.
The troll has basically made all of his attention to Pindor.
Yes.
You feel that you could possibly scoot out of combat if you
wanted to.
SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I can scoot as long as I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02: Plus one.
Alright.
It's not going to matter in a round, but yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_06: I'm going to continue chanting and back away.
SPEAKER_02: Wow.
No, that's fine.
I have made the adjustment.
That's fine.
That didn't suddenly kill him.
Well, I didn't think it would.
He's dead.
Alright, so Edric.
SPEAKER_03: He's backing out of cards.
SPEAKER_02: Backing up while chanting.
Okay.
SPEAKER_03: He's leaving you to your fate.
SPEAKER_02: And Theoran, you cross the road, make your way up
towards the combat.
Your large friend is standing and you see the troll getting up
out of the off of the dirt.
Do you say anything to anybody?
Nope.
Of course not.
SPEAKER_06: What do you want me to say?
Why would you get a little bit more?
Cat something.
Okay.
SPEAKER_04: I have one thing pointing down, and that's the
one.
What are you going to do?
I am going to kill this troll again.
Okay.
Roll it to hit roll.
I already did this.
I will re-roll again now.
It was awesome.
Now it's fucking missed.
What armor class did you hit?
Nothing.
Okay.
Nothing.
SPEAKER_02: So you And I just rolled an 18 on the previous
one.
You kept that.
You swinged your mighty blade for a second attempt for a
second consecutive kill on this monster, and you miss.
SPEAKER_03: This is the part where the trolls regenerate and
kill us all.
SPEAKER_02: No.
SPEAKER_03: Next round.
We threw it on the fire.
No, we get two attacks.
Right.
It's the segment one thing that helps the most, really, if you
think about it.
Alright, so I'm staying engaged in combat with this troll, but I
am going to regret this in the morning.
Okay.
SPEAKER_02: Merrick, you're still behind it, but it's not
unaware of you.
Right.
It might turn around and bite me.
Turn around and bite you.
I'll stay in combat for now.
Combat enchanting.
And you're going to continue that.
You have to keep doing it.
SPEAKER_06: So you're going to cast burning hands.
I'm preparing.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, so you're not doing anything.
SPEAKER_06: Correct.
SPEAKER_02: You're stopping.
Yeah.
And you're going, man, a burning hands would be cool right about
now.
Pretty much.
Okay.
And you're going to attempt to kill the thing.
SPEAKER_04: If I'm going to attempt to kill the thing with
my first.
And second attack will be picking him up and throwing him.
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02: So you're pre-planning.
SPEAKER_04: All right.
Right.
For failure.
For failure.
SPEAKER_06: Throw it at the other one, then we just burn one
big pile.
SPEAKER_04: There's a big burning building like right
here.
Yeah, there's lots of lots of things.
Roll initiative.
SPEAKER_03: Uh somebody had done three.
Three.
Trolls are going on six.
All right.
All right.
So I'm going to stab this troll on first segment.
Nope.
Not even with the chanting.
Plus one.
Yeah, that gets me to armor class seven.
Thank you.
SPEAKER_01: Plus one.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_01: Merrick.
Ever since you started chanting, no distracted by chanting is
bad.
SPEAKER_03: Attack with my short sword.
No.
Great.
Great.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
Maybe I should stop.
First.
Well, actually, you didn't get a first segment attack anyway.
We'll count that.
SPEAKER_03: You get two, right?
No, I'm fighting with a sword.
Oh, so you're gonna get one?
Yeah.
Oh.
Okay, so you would go on three.
SPEAKER_04: I wasn't even in the same time zone.
Well, the archive concern.
So basically you've got jet lag.
SPEAKER_03: The the momentum has turned and now we're screwed.
Right?
Things are not going well.
Okay, so you missed.
Both the trolls are healing up.
Two rounds of shit.
Two rounds of healing trolls, too.
As we've done nothing to them for two rounds.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, normal round actions, which you've already
done yours.
You're chanting, you're not doing anything.
So it is the troll's turn.
And the troll on Reyes is gonna be focused on Reyes.
He's angry that he's been killed already.
This might be over.
And first attack hits a armor class four, which doesn't hit
you.
Mark my words.
Second doesn't hit anybody.
Three whiffs on Reyes.
SPEAKER_03: You might want to heal him.
Oh you just have to keep chanting.
SPEAKER_02: The other troll has his target list includes Pinder
and Merrick.
First attack is going to be on Pinder, and that's going to hit
a minus four for one point of damage.
Second attack is going to be ones.
Merrick.
And that will hit an armor class of negative one.
That'll hit.
And that does one point of you have abandoned me.
So wait, did you roll horn?
One point of damage.
One point of damage.
SPEAKER_03: So it does no damage because it's minus one damage.
Is it minus one damage?
Negative negative.
SPEAKER_04: It's got to do minimum one.
SPEAKER_03: Negative one?
SPEAKER_02: I just want to say for the record this is bullshit.
SPEAKER_03: But are we minimum one or are we zite one?
SPEAKER_02: I think it's it's a minimum one.
All right.
SPEAKER_03: All right.
No, that's good though, because then we can the bite attack.
This is where it bites my head off.
SPEAKER_02: It's going to be on Merrick.
Yep, here it comes.
SPEAKER_03: Misses.
We need to pin you up.
SPEAKER_02: It's only like three.
SPEAKER_03: Pulls my pin.
SPEAKER_02: And that will hit an armor class of five.
That misses.
Excellent.
Okay.
SPEAKER_03: It's the bite I fear.
Yeah, you should.
I have a reason to fear it.
Because it can actually do enough damage to take me out.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, second segment directions for the two.
SPEAKER_03: A 19.
SPEAKER_02: That's kind of hard because you're between it and
the fire.
SPEAKER_03: Well, I've just stabbed it.
I'm going to keep the stabbing in and I'm going to pit it.
And now it's between me and the fire.
Or nine, ten points of damage.
Like a pitchfork.
All right, that's pretty good.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's an unnatural 20 because of the bonuses.
I mean, armor class.
It's unnatural, right?
Okay.
Second round or second hit AC negative four.
Ten points.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
SPEAKER_03: Is that enough?
Is the question.
SPEAKER_02: The troll expires into the dirt again.
SPEAKER_03: Yet again.
Second attack is a grapple and tossing it on the fire.
No, that was my second attack.
Right.
That was all of our second attacks.
Damn it.
Okay, next round.
I don't have a second attack either.
So now we're going to lose initiative.
They're going to regenerate.
Do it again.
Yes.
Two hours later.
I'm attacking the troll.
You're also attacking the troll.
Yes.
You are chanting.
SPEAKER_06: Am I allowed to burn this one?
Or do you burn it?
What are you doing?
SPEAKER_02: Do I ask permission?
What are you doing?
Burning hands.
Burning hand.
Cutting it down.
Why start now?
Okay.
And Reyes, what are you doing?
SPEAKER_03: Hacking away at the troll in the dirt?
Yeah.
Can't you charge the other troll?
He's going to burn it.
We know what each other's doing, right?
To the degree.
I don't think we know him that well.
Can we trust Alvin to do what we're going to do?
No.
15 feet.
Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02: So I can pivot and go.
You can get into combat with it.
He can't charge this round?
Not for a second.
SPEAKER_04: I'm giant.
I can take one step and be there if it's 15 feet.
Right.
10 feet is engaged.
SPEAKER_02: Okay, I guess this is actions for this round.
Right.
So you can charge if you want, sure.
SPEAKER_03: All right.
I will do that.
Well, if you're what, 12 feet tall right now?
11 and a half.
SPEAKER_04: Wait, essentially.
SPEAKER_02: Did you you charge already?
You can actually only charge in combat once per combat.
SPEAKER_04: I and I never did.
SPEAKER_03: Right, but at 11 feet tall, his stride is He
charged me.
Right, but it's step and attack.
At that time.
SPEAKER_02: You never charged the initial ogre?
No, I walked to the end of my and shot.
Okay.
SPEAKER_03: If you want to get technical about only one charge,
I guess, yeah.
Okay.
I don't think that's how the rule was adapted.
When I listened to it.
So what's the movement rate of the case?
SPEAKER_04: I walked and then shot for my I did not charge
against the ogre.
SPEAKER_02: Right, but there were three actions at the
beginning of this entire conversation.
Right, two segments.
I think you charged on one of them, but it's fine.
I'll let you do it.
Maybe not.
I don't know.
SPEAKER_03: So we have action troll initiative.
All right.
I got a die right here in front of me.
Now it's in front of Doc, but it's a three.
And ogres are or trolls are going on six.
SPEAKER_02: There's a 20 between you.
unknown: No.
SPEAKER_02: Any segment one actions?
unknown: Oh.
SPEAKER_02: Now I'm being shown.
SPEAKER_03: Where'd it go?
It's still in front of you.
Now it's in front of you.
SPEAKER_02: Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_03: I had to kick it over.
SPEAKER_02: I couldn't reach it with my arm.
Any segment one actions?
SPEAKER_03: No.
No, I'm out.
Okay, on three, you guys go.
All right.
I stab the troll and it's still attempting to drive it towards
the fire.
Uh not really.
That's uh armor class nine.
SPEAKER_02: Nope, it doesn't hit.
You've seen wounds close back up on this troll.
I know.
SPEAKER_03: I know.
Because nobody else is hitting it.
Merrick.
Stabbing the troll.
That'll hit.
Okay.
Oh wait.
One.
Two.
One.
Two does it.
Two.
Okay.
Right.
And you try to loan me your dice.
It's still better off than it was last round.
SPEAKER_02: You're saying the dice are the reason?
And you're chanting.
What's the casting side of the thing?
It's faster.
Okay, so that's in it.
That's instantaneous.
So you fan out your your fingers and flame streaks your
fingertips and engulfs the troll in the ground.
It gives a twitch and then stops and it just continues burning.
SPEAKER_06: Reading it in.
SPEAKER_02: And a ray of maybe we should have done another one
that's standing.
SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
SPEAKER_01: It's going to get a swipe at you.
SPEAKER_03: Well, you're an eye right now.
Because it hasn't acted yet.
It hits an R class 5.
SPEAKER_06: One more round.
Next time.
20 foot radius.
SPEAKER_04: It'll hit.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure.
AC2.
SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, that hits.
SPEAKER_04: Nine.
Ten.
One more round.
Yes.
SPEAKER_02: Okay.
That does make the difference.
The deadly difference?
Well, dead for now.
SPEAKER_03: Throw it on top of the other.
Put it on the fucking fire.
It's someone.
Whoever's next.
As soon as it falls over, the whole Well, combat ends.
This is the end of the round.
We're out of combat.
Oh, yeah, because he's the last guy.
And the control falls to the dirt.
And as soon as he does next to the fire.
We scoop him up and toss him on the fire.
I try to push him in with my spear.
Remember, I've been saying that for three rounds now.
So when he can slash him down, I try and use my extra, I use my
strength to guide him into the fire.
You're going to skewer him and push.
Okay.
SPEAKER_01: Everyone pushes him into the goal kebab.
SPEAKER_03: What's your this would be this is like a feat
back in the old days.
SPEAKER_02: Well, there are there are feats of strength on
your character sheet.
What's the uh uh a minor test, would that be?
Minor test, yes.
SPEAKER_03: Or would this be a major test?
One to two.
Okay.
Is that on a D6?
On the bright side, we now have an entire corral full of
rations.
Okay, so you just barely get hit.
SPEAKER_04: He was already falling, but I just guided him
in.
What I've learned from this is we need to get away.
SPEAKER_02: But it's rapidly blackening and and other than
the stench of troll smoke and the smell of rotting.
Well, they're not rotting yet, but ogre corpses smell even when
they're fresh.
SPEAKER_03: And let's face it, we would definitely hear a lot
of stuff going on in the cow pen, right?
And now yeah, yeah, well, yeah.
I hear the sound of rations.
Meat.
That's what I'm hearing.
If only there was a horn, I could summon our soldiers.
SPEAKER_02: You hear the soft licking of flames on the inside
of the large wooden building.
You know where the treasure is that large wooden building?
Parts of the building on flame.
Who can produce water?
No one.
SPEAKER_03: How long can't last?
SPEAKER_02: At least it's been an extra long episode of Retro
Rollcast.
SPEAKER_03: It has, yeah.
SPEAKER_02: But we'll find out what happens after this combat
on the next Retrocast.
Lots of healing.
