The Virginia Roberts Deposition That Helped Expose Epstein And Maxwell (Part 10)

In her sworn deposition from 2016 (unsealed in 2020), Virginia Giuffre detailed how Ghislaine Maxwell recruited, groomed, and trafficked her into Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation starting when she was 16. She testified that Maxwell approached her at Mar-a-Lago in 2000 under the pretense of offering her work as a masseuse for a wealthy benefactor. That “job” quickly evolved into sexual abuse. According to Giuffre, Maxwell took an active role in teaching her how to sexually service Epstein, including hands-on “training” sessions involving Maxwell herself. She stated that Maxwell instructed her to recruit other underage girls and was fully aware — and involved — in the trafficking scheme. Maxwell not only facilitated the abuse, Giuffre claimed, but also participated in it, organizing flights, outfits, and sex schedules for Epstein and his associates.

Giuffre’s deposition also included accusations that she was trafficked to powerful men at Maxwell’s direction. She named Prince Andrew, Alan Dershowitz, Jean-Luc Brunel, Bill Richardson, George Mitchell, and Glenn Dubin among the men she was forced to have sex with — often in Epstein’s residences or on his private jet, the “Lolita Express.” Giuffre detailed incidents of sexual abuse at Epstein’s private island (Little St. James), in Maxwell’s London townhouse, and at Epstein’s New York and Palm Beach homes. She described Maxwell’s role as operational: coordinating travel, preparing the girls, dictating what to wear (often schoolgirl outfits), and ensuring silence through emotional manipulation and threats. Giuffre testified that Maxwell told her to be “grateful” and warned her that speaking out would have consequences — including death. Throughout the deposition, Giuffre emphasized that she was a minor being trafficked across state and international lines, and that Maxwell was not only aware but orchestrating every detail. Her statements were corroborated years later by other victims and led to Maxwell’s 2021 conviction on sex trafficking and conspiracy charges.

Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.

In this episode, we're going to keep powering through the

Virginia Roberts deposition, and to do that, we're going to

pick up where we left off. Manager. All right, Miss Roberts,

I want to talk to you about where you were

living in the late nineteen nineties. Do you recall you

testified earlier. I believe that you were living at your

parents' house and you gave us an address at the

time you started at mar A Lago, Virginia. Yes, Manager,

do you remember where you lived previous to living at

your parents' house at that time? Virginia. Like I said,

I was a runaway, so there was a lot of

different places that I lived. One of the places that

I lived, like I told you earlier, with Redacted's parents,

that was somewhere around Fort Lauderdale, I believe, maybe a

little bit outside of it, Menager, Okay, Virginia, Redacted got

an apartment and I lived in redacted the apartment for

a short period. Manager. And where do you recall that being,

Virginia somewhere in Fort Lauderdale again, Manager, okay, And then

you were living with your parents or there was another

place in between, Virginia. Then I live with my parents, Manager, okay.

And then where's the next place that you moved Virginia

an apartment that Jeffrey got for me in Royal Palm Beach, Manager, okay.

And you don't know the address of that, Virginia. No.

I wish I could give it to you, but I

don't know it, Manager. And you stayed at that apartment

until you left for Thailand in the fall later in

the year, in two thousand and two, is that correct, Virginia, Yes, Manager, right, Virginia, yes, Manager,

all right. And when did you first stop living with

your parents? How old were you when you first stopped

living with your parents to this Brad Edwards objectaform, Virginia

the very first time? Menager? Uh huh, Virginia. I believe

I was eleven, Menager, Okay. What caused you to stop

living with your parents when you were eleven? Virginia. I

just had some trouble and my parents thought it would

be better if they sent me to California, Menager. Okay.

What kind of trouble did you have, Virginia. It's very

hard for me to talk about. There was stuff that

went on in my life that you know made me

so I couldn't live with my parents anymore? Menager, what

went on in your life that caused you to not

be able to live with your parents at the age

of eleven, Virginia? Do I have to answer this? Menager? Well,

did you talk to Sharon Churcher about being molested as

a child, Virginia? I did, Manager, and you authorized Shannon

Churchill to publish that in a newspaper, Correct, Virginia. I

don't think I authorized her to do it. I think

she I wouldn't say she did it on her own accord,

But I talked to her about it, and I wasn't

aware of exactly what she was going to publish and

what she wasn't. Manager, So you were able to talk

to a reporter for the Mail on Sunday about this, correct, Virginia.

I did tell her a little bit about my past

and where I came from. Manager, all right, So what

caused you to be sent away from your parents' home

at the age of eleven to California, Virginia? Some of

the prior abuse which led me to be a very

troubled teenager. I mean, I guess you wouldn't call an

eleven year old a teenager yet, but led me to

running away a lot, and my family just thought it

was best to get out of the area and move

somewhere else. Manager, Okay, you had to run away prior

to being the age of eleven, Virginia, Yes, Manager, all right?

Was that reported to the authorities Virginia that I ran away? Manager, Yes, Virginia, Yes. Manager.

And where were your parents living when you were the

age of eleven, Virginia the same address that I gave

you earlier? Menager? Okay, so the authorities associated with Locksahatchie,

Florida were made aware that you had run away from

your home at the age of eleven, Virginia, Yes, menager.

And what abuse had you suffered prior to the age

of eleven? Virginia. There was a very close family friend

who was a very sick man, and he took advantage Manager.

What was his name, Virginia redacted? Menager? Redacted? What Virginia redacted? Manager?

And where is redacted today? Virginia? I don't know where

he is. Manager. Does your family keep in contact with him? Virginia? No? Menager.

What did he do to you, Virginia? He touched me

in places I shouldn't be touched. He sexually abused me.

Menager for how long, Virginia, I don't know how long. Manager.

Did you tell that to your parents, Virginia they know, Menager?

How did they know, Virginia I told them. Did you

tell them when you were under the age of eleven

or at the age of eleven? Virginia? I told them later? Manager,

When did you tell them, Virginia. It took me a

long time to forget my parents for sending me away.

I didn't feel like anybody understood me. So not until

later in my life did I feel like I was

able to talk to anyone about it. Menager. Okay, was

it reported to the authorities, Virginia. No, I went too

late to talk to anybody about it. Manager. Did the

event of you being molested cause your parents to split up? Virginia?

I think Sharon reported that, But I don't think that's

the case. No. My parents split up because they were

really messed up. Manager, Your parents split up because they're

really messed up, Virginia. Oh, they just didn't get along.

There were a lot of marital problems. Manager. When did

they split up, Virginia. I don't really remember what year

it was Manager. How old were you Virginia. I believe

I was living with Jeffrey at the time. Manager. With

whom did you live in California, Virginia my redacted? Manager?

And who else? Virginia? Redacted? Manager? And who else? Virginia?

That's it? Manager? And for how long did you live

with them? Virginia. I don't really know how long? Maybe

over a year, maybe two years? Manager? And then what

caused you to not live with them anymore? Virginia. I

kept running away from them too, Manager. And where did

you live in California, Virginia? I'm sorry, Manager, Where did

you live in California, Virginia? Where did they live? Manager?

Where did you live with them, Virginia, Salinas Manager? And

do you know the address? Virginia? No? Manager. Do they

still live there Virginia? No? Manager. When did you stop

living there Virginia. I don't know. I haven't kept in

contact with them. Manager. And you believe you live with

them for a little more than a year Virginia. Maybe

a year, maybe two years, I'm not too sure. Manager.

Did you go to school there? Virginia? Yes? Manager. Where

did you go to school? Virginia? Somewhere near Selenas. I'm

assuming Manager. What grade were you in Virginia middle school? Manager?

Sixth grade? Seventh grade? Virginia? I think sixth grade? Manager?

And did you go there for more than one year

or just one year? Virginia? Maybe? I don't know. I'm sorry,

I don't know. Manager. Were the authorities in Selenas alerted

to the fact that you ran away from home there? Virginia? Yes? Manager?

How long was the longest you were away from home

in Selinas, California, Virginia two weeks? Manager? And you were

in middle school Virginia? Yes? Manager? Yes? Or no? Virginia? Oh? Oh? Yes? Manager?

And then when did you go back to Florida Virginia?

I don't know, Manager. Was your younger brother living with

your parents in Florida while you were in California Virginia? Yeah? Manager?

And was your older brother living with your parents in

Florida while you were in California Virginia? I don't think so, Manager.

How much older than you is he? Virginia five years? Manager?

And then you went back to Florida. Where did you

go to school when you eventually got back Virginia. I

believe I went to Crestwood Middle School. Manager. And did

you complete your studies at Crestwood Middle School, Virginia? Did

I get out of middle school there? Yes? Manager, Okay?

What grades were middle school Virginia, six, seven, and eight? Manager, okay.

And when you went back to live with your parents again,

was that at the same address in Locksahatchie, Virginia? Yes? Manager.

And you don't believe your older brother was it the

home at the time, Virginia? No, he was sent to

boarding school? Manager. Where did he go to boarding school? Virginia? Washington? Menager?

State or city Virginia, Washington above California, Menager. When was

the next time you stopped living with your parents Virginia?

They sent me to a group home call Growing Together? Menager?

Why Virginia because I kept running away? Menager? Where the

authority is alerted when you ran away? Virginia? Yes? Manager?

And how old were you when you went to live

at Growing Together Virginia? I don't know. It's hard for

me to peace back dates off the top of my head.

I don't want to guess. I don't think I should guess.

I don't know, Manager, But you moved directly from living

with your parents to living at Growing Together Virginia. I

wouldn't say directly, Manager, how Virginia interrupts her. I'd say

stayed with my parents for like, I think I finished

school at so I would have been in I don't know.

I guess eighth grade, finish eighth grade, and then I

don't know. I really don't know. Around eighth grade, Manager,

you went to Growing Together Virginia. I think I think

it was then. Manager. How many years did you live

at Growing Together Virginia? Over a year? Manager? Were you

ever in foster care Virginia? What Growing Together was was

like a group home that sent you away to foster

parents every night, Manager, So you lived in other people's

homes during that period of time you were assigned to

Growing Together Virginia. Well, you stayed at Growing Together during

the day and that at night you get sent home

with parents. Manager. Did you go to school while you

were at Growing Together Virginia? Yeah? They offer education there, Manager,

So the education was at Growing Together Virginia. Yeah, Manager,

you did not attend Palm Beach County, Virginia. I did,

but you had to earn your levels up to be

able to go outside. So I don't remember what level

you have to get up to to go out to

another school. I think there was like seven levels or something,

and you had to make it to like level four

to be able to go to an outside school, Menager.

So for some time period you were assigned to Growing Together,

and you were going to school at Growing Together, and

for some period of time you were going to other

schools and coming back to Growing Together Virginia, correct, Menager.

And then when you came back to Growing Together, you

were sent to spend the night at a family's home Virginia. Yes, Menager,

So you never slept at Growing Together Virginia, No, Menager.

Did you live other than living at or staying at

Growing Together during the day and sleeping at these other

homes at night? Is there anywhere else that you would

call living in the period between the ages of eighth

grade and when you started working at Mar A Lago,

Virginia besides the ones I told you about. You know,

I did run away from Growing Together quite often, and

I did end up being abused by another older guy

who I stayed with for I don't know how long. Manager.

How well were you then, Virginia? I don't know. I'm sorry.

I really wish I could pinpoint dates. I don't know dates. Manager, Okay,

what was the man's name, Virginia redacted? Manager? And how

long were you living with redacted for? Virginia? Yes? Manager,

And how long were you living with them? Virginia, I

don't know, Manager, days, weeks, months, Virginia. I don't know.

I mean it wasn't days. I don't think it was weeks.

It would have been close to maybe a few months. Manager,

And was redacted prosecuted by federal authorities in South Florida? Virginia. Yes, Manager,

and you were located by the FBI, I believe, yes,

says Virginia. Manager. And you gave an interview to the

FBI earning your time with redacted? Correct Virginia. Yes, Manager.

Did you ever get a victim's notification letter regarding your

status as a victim in redacted's federal criminal prosecution? Virginia,

I don't know. My parents handled everything. Manager. Do you

know if your parents received such a letter? I don't know,

says Virginia. Manager. Have you ever asked them Virginia? No,

I've really never brought it up with them. It really

pissed them off a lot, so I never brought it

up with them. Manager. It pissed them off. That you

were living with redacted Virginia. Yes. Manager. Why did it

piss them off, you know? Virginia. Well, I think they

were just disgusted, you know that this happened to me again,

and they didn't want to talk about it. They didn't

want to talk about it, but they were aware of it,

says manager. Virginia. Yes, Manager, and your dad came and

picked you up from the police station. Virginia. Yes, Manager,

and your dad would not let you come home. Virginia. Well,

I think it was more my mom didn't want me

to come home. Manager. Did she say why? Virginia? Well,

I asked my dad at the police station if I

could come back home instead of going to growing together,

and he said, my mom didn't want me to come home.

And I told him if he didn't get me out

within a week, I'd run away again and he'd never

hear from me again. Manager. And how is it you

came back to be living at their house again, Virginia.

I ran away again and I called him up and

I said, this is your final chance. And they came

and picked me up and they let me live there. Manager.

And when did you go live with redacted? Virginia? Not long?

After that? And when did you live with Redacted's parents Virginia. Well,

I live with Redacted's parents before I live with redacted

in his apartment Manager, and that was the apartment that

redacted rented, Virginia. Redacted his friend. I can't remember his

friend's name, Mario. I think his friend's name was manager.

When did you live with redacted as parents, Virginia. That

was just a brief stint. I didn't really stay there

very long, but it was I was a runaway. That's

in between times of I don't know manager. How old

were you, Virginia. I don't know, manager. I just want

to be clear. Redacted rented an apartment that you moved

into that he rented, correct Virginia, Correct manager. And that

was after you lived with redacted and his parents, correct Virginia,

Correct manager. And that was prior to you and Redacted

living with your parents when you started working at mar

A Lago. Correct Virginia, Correct manager. Do I have that

sequence right, Virginia so far? Yes? Manager? And when did

you stop living at your parents at the time you

started working at mar A Lago. How long after you

started at mar A Lago did you stop living with

your parents? Virginia. I don't know exact dates. I was

traveling with Jeffrey a lot, and I was making he

was giving me lots of money for the sex that

I had with him and Golaine, and after I would

say a short time. I'm not too sure, Darling, I

don't know, Menager, all right? Can you? Manager? I have

no recollection of which number were on in terms of

exhibit Ms. Rodriguez fifteen. Menager, okay, I'd like to mark

as defendants Exhibit fifteen a document and see if you

can identify it. Actually, before I do that, when do

you recall ever getting a passport Virginia? I got my

passport in New York. I don't know what age I was. Okay,

says manager. And did you how did you get it?

Did you go somewhere? What happened? Virginia? Jeffrey had me

fill out paperwork and go to a Kodak shop or

something similar of a Kodak shop and get my picture taken.

I gave him my picture and my paperwork. He sent

it away. I think a week later he said it

got expedited. Manager, did you physically go to an office

in New York, Virginia, Jeffrey's office manager and office associated

with immigration or homeland security or whatever it was called

back then. Virginia, not that I recall, Menager. And do

you know how old you were? Virginia, No, I don't

know how old you have to be to get a passport,

so I'm not too sure. Exhibit fifteen marked Menager. Okay,

I'm going to show you defend and exhibit fifteen. Do

you recognize this document? Virginia answers yes. All right. We're

going to wrap up right there, and in the next episode,

we're going to pick up where we left off. All
