Speaker 1: Hi, this is Kyle Sharber and welcome to the Philly Show.
Speaker 2: Yeah, don't spank my tomatoes.
Speaker 1: Whatever you do, no spanking of the tomatoes.
Speaker 3: Today, we're going to talk all sorts of baseball and tonight.
Speaker 3: Of course, All Star Game is on Tuesday night. But
Speaker 3: I feel like a lot of people are super excited.
Speaker 3: Some might even say this is the main event Monday Night.
Speaker 3: Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper home run derby, let's talk
Speaker 3: about it. It's time for first pitch. First pitch is
Speaker 3: powered by Parks Casino, Pennsylvania's number one casino. We've been
Speaker 3: talking about this for weeks. Guys, All Star break home
Speaker 3: run Derby. Is it going to be Kyle Schwarber? Is
Speaker 3: it going to be Bryce Harper? Are they going to participate? Well,
Speaker 3: they are both in and there's so much buzz in
Speaker 3: the city about it. I mean, what are you guys
Speaker 3: as excited about this home run derby?
Speaker 1: Jim?
Speaker 4: I am, because you know I started asking Bryce Hopper
Speaker 4: if he was gonna just hit two months ago because
Speaker 4: I knew Schwaba was gonna be in it.
Speaker 1: You know, he led the National League at home runs
Speaker 1: last year.
Speaker 4: It's been the major league leader all year this year,
Speaker 4: he's got to be in that in his home field.
Speaker 4: I mean, big question was Harper gonna be there, And
Speaker 4: now he's there. I think I think it's bigger than
Speaker 4: the game personally. And I think also the home run
Speaker 4: derby has lost a little luster in recent years, maybe
Speaker 4: gotten a little monotonous, a little kind.
Speaker 1: Of sameness to it all.
Speaker 4: Well, this the participation of Schwarber and Hopper, two Phillies
Speaker 4: in Phillies home Ballpark, with with with Harper's personality, in
Speaker 4: Schwarber's long blow prowess, and.
Speaker 1: There's a bunch of other good guys in it too.
Speaker 4: I just think this is gonna be one of the
Speaker 4: most exciting home run derbys in an awful long time.
Speaker 4: And I've seen a lot of them. I saw the
Speaker 4: one in Fenway ninety nine with Maguire, I saw Samy
Speaker 4: Sosa hit about fifty of them in Turner Field, Bobby Abrel,
Speaker 4: Ryan Hodd.
Speaker 1: I think this is gonna be a great one.
Speaker 4: Because and I think Larron has to do with Happer's participation,
Speaker 4: He's gonna raise all the boats in the harbor.
Speaker 1: Yeah. So one of the cool things about this is this,
Speaker 1: I think this is.
Speaker 2: It makes me think about David Montgomery and how important
Speaker 2: these events are.
Speaker 1: Right, David Montgomery wanted this. This is before he passed away.
Speaker 2: He wanted this All Star Game here in Philadelphia for
Speaker 2: the fans.
Speaker 1: He's always been about the fans, right and for.
Speaker 2: And and for the you know, the country's two hundred
Speaker 2: and fiftieth and this is exactly what he was looking
Speaker 2: for in these kind of events, particularly with the guys
Speaker 2: so with the star star power of Harper and Schwarber,
Speaker 2: for them to be participating in this this is all
Speaker 2: about the Philadelphia fan and this is uh and I
Speaker 2: all I think about is David Montgomery watching from above
Speaker 2: and thinking, this is exactly what we wanted to see.
Speaker 2: How many balls are gonna go off like David's angle?
Speaker 2: I mean, Jordan could Monty's angle during the course of
Speaker 2: the event. And I think that's what makes it special.
Speaker 2: It's not just you know, it's not just your your
Speaker 2: garden variety All Star Game or.
Speaker 1: You know, home run Derby. It's in Philadelphia with two
Speaker 1: of the most.
Speaker 2: I mean, if you think about it other than maybe
Speaker 2: O Tawny, you know, you're talking about Harper and Schwarber,
Speaker 2: two of them probably one of the most famous NL
Speaker 2: players that exist in baseball right now, particularly on this
Speaker 2: side of the world, and for them to be participating,
Speaker 2: it's really special.
Speaker 3: You got so you have Junior Cameronio, Jack Hagleon, Ben
Speaker 3: Rice Wilson, Contreras, Jordan Walker, Harper Schwarber, and Winnetaka Murakami
Speaker 3: are all participating at The format is a little different
Speaker 3: this year, so you get twenty Now you're it's not
Speaker 3: a timed event for the people that don't know. In
Speaker 3: the first round you get twenty swings. You gotta make
Speaker 3: them count. Second round, if you advance, you get fifteen swings,
Speaker 3: and then in the final again you get fifteen swings. Now,
Speaker 3: if you homer on your fifteenth swing, you can keep
Speaker 3: going until you don't omer. But that was why and Jim,
Speaker 3: we were in Kansas City. We had a long chat
Speaker 3: with Bryce about this, about the importance of the batting,
Speaker 3: about his picture, and he chose dinu Ebel to throw
Speaker 3: to him. And you mentioned Dino Evil days before. I
Speaker 3: feel like you knew something or you've been hearing a little.
Speaker 1: He might have got a little that angle. Boy, don't
Speaker 1: forget the people are saying to me every once in
Speaker 1: a while. And I'm going to say this, Jim.
Speaker 3: People will say something to me every once in a
Speaker 3: while that you say on the show, and they'll go,
Speaker 3: why do you think Jim said that?
Speaker 1: I said.
Speaker 3: A thing that Jim says is ever by a mistake.
Speaker 3: There's always something to it. He's always always something to it.
Speaker 1: So Dino Evil.
Speaker 4: Got a lot the best, and that guy is the best.
Speaker 4: Right down the middle of firm. Where do you want it?
Speaker 4: He puts it there? And uh, I guess it was
Speaker 4: a matter if any Dodgers were gonna be in it,
Speaker 4: and they wanted him.
Speaker 1: But but he wants.
Speaker 4: A good batting practice pitcher, not just because it swings,
Speaker 4: because he wants every time he steps on the field,
Speaker 4: he wants to do something great. And even though tonight
Speaker 4: is an exhibition and entertainment event, he wants to do
Speaker 4: great in it. He wants to win it. So Bryce
Speaker 4: Harper is the showman. He wants to put on a show.
Speaker 4: If you're gonna put on a show, you need a
Speaker 4: good batting practice pitcher.
Speaker 1: I will say this, and you asked, you know who
Speaker 1: do I like in this one?
Speaker 2: And I'm not a betting man, and I would never
Speaker 2: bet on anything like this. But the reality of it is,
Speaker 2: I think you hit the nail on the head. I
Speaker 2: don't think there's anybody who has more like raw power
Speaker 2: on the Phillies than does Kyle Schwarber. But in this
Speaker 2: sort of setting, I'm actually would pick Harper just because.
Speaker 1: He is the showman.
Speaker 2: These are the types of things that I means a
Speaker 2: red light player. We talked about it with Jimmy Rollins,
Speaker 2: we talked about it with like a variety of different players.
Speaker 2: And when the spot light is on man, these guys
Speaker 2: play with fire. And I gotta believe and this is
Speaker 2: no disrespect at all to you know, Kyle Schwarber, because
Speaker 2: he may very well crush everybody in this event.
Speaker 1: I just feel like, this is schwart this is a
Speaker 1: Harper's like, this is what he lives for. This is
Speaker 1: the kind of stuff that he lives for.
Speaker 2: And the fact that he was named by the commissioner
Speaker 2: and he's a legacy player. He does not want to
Speaker 2: disappoint man and he typically does not disappoint.
Speaker 4: Do you think He's named by the commissioner, so he's
Speaker 4: the Commissioner's legend pick. The commissioner wants to have a
Speaker 4: great week here right every event. He wants to be
Speaker 4: entertainment tonight. Do you think there was some subtle pressure
Speaker 4: that I'm naming you to the game and you do
Speaker 4: deserve it. You've had a great first half, but you
Speaker 4: weren't the fans pick I'm naming you to the game.
Speaker 1: I'd really like you in this home run Derby.
Speaker 2: Oh, I have to believe that there's probably a little
Speaker 2: bit of side action going.
Speaker 1: On there too little side action.
Speaker 3: We'd like to invite you to the Home Alstar game
Speaker 3: because you are worthy. But but boy, I think it
Speaker 3: would be really great if you got it.
Speaker 4: And by the way, if you had hem and hawf
Speaker 4: for about a week to try to build up the drama.
Speaker 1: That would have bit better.
Speaker 3: Well, it's funny because a lot of people I think
Speaker 3: it was in Philly when he first talked about it, right,
Speaker 3: I think it was Tim Kelly asked him the question
Speaker 3: and he said, I don't know, and a lot of
Speaker 3: people walked out of that clubhouse and I go, I
Speaker 3: don't think Bryce's gonna do it, and Jim, you were
Speaker 3: definitely like, I think he's trying.
Speaker 1: To build up the suspense. I think Bryce definitely wants
Speaker 1: to particip it's going to be a great Jam always
Speaker 1: has a method to his madness. There's no question and everything.
Speaker 1: You know.
Speaker 2: You know, people need to listen to Jim when he talks,
Speaker 2: because when he talks, he says things for a reason.
Speaker 1: Well to you, why would you do that? I am
Speaker 1: really glad you brought up David Montgomery.
Speaker 4: I've been thinking about him a lot lately because he
Speaker 4: wanted this game here, in this event, here for the
Speaker 4: two hundred fiftieth birthday of the country. And I remember
Speaker 4: being at an All Star game a few years after
Speaker 4: Citizens Bank Park opened and David was there and I
Speaker 4: was trying to get a hold of him.
Speaker 1: This is actually how I got David's cell phone number.
Speaker 1: I was trying to get a hold of him to
Speaker 1: ask if he'd want the All Star Ghiman.
Speaker 4: You know, in a couple of years, maybe twenty ten
Speaker 4: or someth you got a new ballpark, get the All
Speaker 4: Star game, right. And I asked one of the Phillies
Speaker 4: PR people if I could speak to David, and they
Speaker 4: found me in the press box and hand me it.
Speaker 1: Here's David's cell phone number. He wants you to call him.
Speaker 4: So I called him and he laid it all on
Speaker 4: the line he said, He said, it was great to
Speaker 4: have one, you know, within a few years of the
Speaker 4: park opening, but we want the two hundred and fiftieth
Speaker 4: anniversary of the country. We had the Bison Tano Tenio.
Speaker 4: We want the two fifty I don't even know how
Speaker 4: to say the big word, but.
Speaker 1: The quarter center quarter. So he wanted that one.
Speaker 4: And even he was pointing to this all those years,
Speaker 4: and uh he brought this game here, so uh just
Speaker 4: it's I'll be thinking him.
Speaker 1: A lot tonight.
Speaker 3: Yeah, Tyler Kuttner from The Athletic were a really great
Speaker 3: story on David Montgomery bringing this All Star Game, And
Speaker 3: I worked on the All Star Game program this year
Speaker 3: a little bit, and I made sure to include a
Speaker 3: little a short story on David, you know, making sure
Speaker 3: that this happened and bringing the All Star Game to Philly.
Speaker 3: We are live at Ironhill Brewery in Center City. One
Speaker 3: last question about the home run Deery guys is Harper Schwarber.
Speaker 3: I think all three of us a pig. One of
Speaker 3: those two guys to win it. Who would be your
Speaker 3: non Philly upset pick gets the crap boot out of
Speaker 3: him because he beats Schwarber Harper in the final and
Speaker 3: sends everybody home unhappy.
Speaker 1: Who's your guy that you think is gonna do, would
Speaker 1: do it, or could do.
Speaker 4: I'm gonna go Murakami from the White Sox, the Japanese slugger.
Speaker 4: We've got a lot of loft in his swing, pretty
Speaker 4: cozy ballpark.
Speaker 1: I could see him making a rumber. I think any
Speaker 1: one of the guys he could win, no doubt. I'm
Speaker 1: gonna throw Ben Rice's name out. Ben Rice.
Speaker 2: He's got some serious pop. He's had an unbelievable year.
Speaker 2: I mean he in a lot of ways. I mean,
Speaker 2: I know this is not the most famous name that
Speaker 2: I can bring up or the most popular name, but
Speaker 2: he reminds me a little bit of Travis Lee, like
Speaker 2: Travis Lee type power, you know, left handed juice here.
Speaker 2: He can really drive the ball out of the ballpark.
Speaker 2: So and he'll probably get seriously booed because he's a Yankee.
Speaker 1: You know.
Speaker 3: That's why I was actually gonna pick Ben Rice for
Speaker 3: like the feel good story of his dad throwing right
Speaker 3: throwing to him, and also Jack Hagwilliam's dad is going
Speaker 3: to throw him to him as well. That was first
Speaker 3: pitch powered by Parks casino must be twenty one gambling
Speaker 3: problem call one eight hundred gambler. It is Monday, and
Speaker 3: we if you, if you follow the Philly Show at all,
Speaker 3: you know that Monday.
Speaker 1: We talk about best Week. Oh yeah, it's time for
Speaker 1: Manco and Manco Best Week.
Speaker 3: When you want the best of the best, take a
Speaker 3: rundown to Manco and Manco and we won't running down
Speaker 3: to Manco and.
Speaker 1: Manco as well.
Speaker 3: This Friday, eleven thirty am, we are doing another live show.
Speaker 3: Let's at Manco and Manco in Ocean City and we
Speaker 3: have a couple big guests. We have Charlie Manuel coming
Speaker 3: and Larry Ball coming. We're very excited about that. So
Speaker 3: if you're down at the shore on Friday, definitely stop
Speaker 3: by Manco. You can see us, but also more importantly,
Speaker 3: you can see Larry Ball and Charlie Manuel. So, okay, guys,
Speaker 3: Manco and Manco Best Week, Slice of the pie?
Speaker 5: Who have the best monster? I mean it's almost a
Speaker 5: whole pie. I think we might all be an agreement
Speaker 5: on this. I think this is a whole pie situation.
Speaker 5: This is not We're not dipping it up into thirds
Speaker 5: and slices. I think it's Zach Wheeler with just a
Speaker 5: monster week.
Speaker 6: Zach Wheeler this week for the Philadelphia Phillies and two
Speaker 6: starts two and zero zero point six' nine earra in thirteen,
Speaker 6: innings six, hits one, run two, walks twenty four.
Speaker 1: STRIKEOUTS i looked this up last night On Baseball.
Speaker 3: Reference is the eighth time and is it the third
Speaker 3: pitcher In philly's history to have twenty four strikeouts two
Speaker 3: or three your walks in thirteen innings over two. STARTS
Speaker 3: i mean, Historic Kurt schilling And Jim bunning are the
Speaker 3: only other two pitchers to do that in two starts in.
Speaker 1: Phases he should be in The All Star.
Speaker 4: GAME a lot of circumstances he is not in The
Speaker 4: All Star, game but having a full Man Co manco
Speaker 4: pie is a pretty good consolation. Pie and he prized
Speaker 4: and winning our you know best of The, BEST i,
Speaker 4: mean you know you've got All hall Of, Fame All
Speaker 4: Star Manco Manco Philly Show best of The?
Speaker 1: Best what market you? Want that's a close. Story that's
Speaker 1: a very very close.
Speaker 2: Story great, Point, Jim, listen this guy has been the
Speaker 2: best pitcher in. Baseball much like we talked About Doc
Speaker 2: holliday during the course of his. Uh during his tenure in,
Speaker 2: baseball this guy has been the best pitcher in baseball
Speaker 2: by like a long, shot.
Speaker 1: Then bundy in baseball over the last eight to ten.
Speaker 2: Years it's not even. Close for, ME i, mean he's so,
Speaker 2: consistent he gets better and. Better he has now gotten
Speaker 2: to the point, WHERE i, mean this is a guy
Speaker 2: who is like a fastball. Curveball now he's knowing a
Speaker 2: split that is like one of the best pitches in.
Speaker 2: Baseball it's developing in a way that you would not
Speaker 2: believe this late in his. Career the things that he
Speaker 2: has been able to do as a pitcher and develop
Speaker 2: continue develop as a player have been. Spectacular it's unfortunate
Speaker 2: how it all worked out as far as The All
Speaker 2: Star game is, concerned because he does deserve to be,
Speaker 2: there there's no question in my, mind but he's now
Speaker 2: chosen not to be there for a variety of.
Speaker 7: Reasons but the reality of it, is the fans Of
Speaker 7: philadelphia have to be ecstatic about having this guy be
Speaker 7: on the, mound and now he's put himself in a
Speaker 7: position to be a front runner as A Cell Young award.
Speaker 4: Candidate for, me the split reminds me of When clemens And,
Speaker 4: shilling both power, guys added it mid to late in their,
Speaker 4: career and, they you, know went to even another.
Speaker 1: Level and that's what he's. Doing that split becomes such a.
Speaker 4: Weapon he threw a ton of them yesterday for as
Speaker 4: many as he would throw probably ever in a.
Speaker 1: Game it's added a new.
Speaker 4: Dimension his last three, starts thirty four, punches three.
Speaker 1: Walks he's pitching with an.
Speaker 4: Edge he's pitching with some, anger but he might ride
Speaker 4: that wave of edge or whatever you want to call,
Speaker 4: it right to the Cy.
Speaker 3: YOUNG i was gonna, say you almost have to have LIKE.
Speaker 3: Jt Real muto in the, bullpen coming out of the
Speaker 3: bullpen off every. Game go just by the, way you didn't.
Speaker 1: Make The All star.
Speaker 3: Team that's An All star you know, that, Right you're
Speaker 3: not An All star. Pitcher just want to make sure
Speaker 3: that's player and just keep them angry all year. Long but,
Speaker 3: yeah that he got pulled from that game a couple of,
Speaker 3: starts three starts.
Speaker 1: Ago he was very upset about.
Speaker 8: That.
Speaker 3: Jim you had a great back and forth with. Him one,
Speaker 3: word one, word one, word one word maybe as he
Speaker 3: made his. Point he gets denied from The All Star.
Speaker 3: Game after that game In, cincinnati he has that great,
Speaker 3: QUOTE i just want to offer a reminder who but
Speaker 3: he's using, reminded puts it on A t, Shirt and
Speaker 3: THEN i talked to him the next day In. CINCINNATI i,
Speaker 3: said if you will you actually pitch and he said.
Speaker 3: Yes so THEN i talked To Caleb cotham about. It he,
Speaker 3: Says i'm not going to stand in the man's. Way
Speaker 3: Dom manningley, Said i'm not going to stand in the man's.
Speaker 1: Way and so then there's an injury.
Speaker 3: Replacement Major League bistos, Says, hey how do you like
Speaker 3: to be in The All Star?
Speaker 1: Game Zach willis, says, Now i'm. Insulted it's a Very
Speaker 1: Zach weelther thing to.
Speaker 3: Do but, hey you, know maybe this will push him
Speaker 3: to having an even, incredible more amazing second. Half and
Speaker 3: wouldn't It and this is he's PROBABLY i don't want
Speaker 3: to say a long, shot but wouldn't it be something
Speaker 3: if he really pushed himself into that Nl Cy young
Speaker 3: talk late in the.
Speaker 1: Season AND i say not.
Speaker 3: A long shot or dark horse or, whatever only in
Speaker 3: the sense that right, now going into these final few,
Speaker 3: starts everybody's like it's Either miserawski Or Christopher. Sanchez but
Speaker 3: if If Zach wheeler keeps pitching like this on a postseason,
Speaker 3: team no.
Speaker 1: QUESTION i, mean, listen it's not necessarily how he, starts
Speaker 1: how you. Finish he didn't start.
Speaker 2: WELL i mean he starts a little slowly just BECAUSE
Speaker 2: i mean he's coming off with tos that injury and that.
Speaker 1: Surgery that's a huge.
Speaker 2: Deal and for him to bounce back and to pitch
Speaker 2: the way he's pitching is something THAT i don't. Know
Speaker 2: in some WAYS i expected it just because He's Zach.
Speaker 2: Wheeler in other, ways you, know you just didn't know
Speaker 2: where he's gonna be able to. Have like to, me
Speaker 2: it's not just about the. Velocity it's like we talk
Speaker 2: about it all the.
Speaker 1: Time it's to finish on his.
Speaker 2: Pitches like what you don't see out Of Andrew, painter for,
Speaker 2: instance is finish on his. Pitches and he's not doing,
Speaker 2: IT i think because he's coming off that.
Speaker 1: That, surgery AND i don't think he has a confidence
Speaker 1: to let it.
Speaker 2: Go and For Zach wheeler to have that sort of
Speaker 2: injury and to finish his pitches and to have the
Speaker 2: kind of life on his fastball that he has right
Speaker 2: now to get it past major league hitters on the
Speaker 2: on the regular because he, swing there's a lot of
Speaker 2: swing and miss on his.
Speaker 1: Fastball it's really pretty. Amazing it's.
Speaker 2: ASTONISHING i don't think That i've ever seen that for
Speaker 2: a guy coming back off of surgery like.
Speaker 1: That think about guys.
Speaker 2: Like sandy Al contra and Those sandy took like three
Speaker 2: years to get back after his after his, elbow a
Speaker 2: different type of.
Speaker 1: Surgery but like think about all the great, pictures it
Speaker 1: takes him some.
Speaker 8: Time uh the Guy, spencer the guy in uh In,
Speaker 8: ATLANTA i mean he's struggling TO i, mean he's not
Speaker 8: the same you know those guys who takes some. Time
Speaker 8: so Uh so it's a pretty extraordinary effort by.
Speaker 3: Him Philly Show live At Ironhill brewery In Center. City
Speaker 3: one last thought On Zach wheeler and it's Just jimmy
Speaker 3: mentioned the splitter and uh that same day In, CINCINNATI
Speaker 3: i was talking With, zach just doing a little story
Speaker 3: In Kyle schwarber and you know how he's so great
Speaker 3: behind the. SCENES i, said Is Kyle shwarber ever helped
Speaker 3: you with your? Pitching and he says, yes as a
Speaker 3: matter of, fact a couple of springs, ago WHEN i
Speaker 3: was learning to throw the, SPLITTER i got. IT i
Speaker 3: wanted him to step in for a LIVE vp because, he's,
Speaker 3: Like kyle's not just a big lead.
Speaker 1: Hitter he literally sees. THAT i, mean he's famous for,
Speaker 1: right like tipping pitches and all that. Stuff he's a student.
Speaker 1: Game he's got he's got a sixth.
Speaker 3: Sense and he said THAT i THREW i was throwing my,
Speaker 3: split and immediately, GOES i can tell it immediately when
Speaker 3: you're throwing your, split your, arms your your arm is slowing,
Speaker 3: down your body is slowing. Down as soon AS i
Speaker 3: know exactly when you're throwing, it you gotta you, gotta you,
Speaker 3: know obviously keep that same arm, speed same same movement.
Speaker 3: Going and so he's, like he went into the bullpen
Speaker 3: the next, day decided to let it rip more and
Speaker 3: he says it took.
Speaker 1: Off And zach probably would have figured it out.
Speaker 3: Eventually But zach said, this he, said, now who Knows
Speaker 3: Kyle schwarber never says that to, me never gives me that.
Speaker 3: Feedback maybe, that, YEAH i might have ditched the. Pitch
Speaker 3: that's WHY i said to, HIM i, said maybe you
Speaker 3: dished the. Pitch he's, like, yeah MAYBE i don't, know
Speaker 3: But Kyle schwarber gave me some great feedback and and
Speaker 3: now that and now he is throwing that split and
Speaker 3: it is such a. Weapon the other day In, cincinnati
Speaker 3: his last three strikeouts were all on, splitter as he
Speaker 3: got everybody on on other pitches earlier in the.
Speaker 4: Game that's that's a great anecdote for both, guys and
Speaker 4: it shows you how Thirsty wheeler is late career to
Speaker 4: just keep getting better and. Better remember one off season
Speaker 4: he would always work on a pitch in his, offseason
Speaker 4: going to try to work on his change, up a
Speaker 4: little bit, more added to split.
Speaker 1: Late this guy's never.
Speaker 2: Content so the beauty of this is to, me the
Speaker 2: lesson here for me is you cannot negate the human.
Speaker 1: Element there is not someone who.
Speaker 9: Can put a camera on him or do The edgatron
Speaker 9: or whatever the case may, be and be able to
Speaker 9: stand in the box and, Say, okay that looks.
Speaker 1: Different the person has to see.
Speaker 2: It that person has to stand in the box and, see,
Speaker 2: OH i see a. Difference and those are things that
Speaker 2: are the human element of the game that gets lost
Speaker 2: in the.
Speaker 1: Shuffle AND i think that there's a place for.
Speaker 2: Analytics i'm not going to be the old head that
Speaker 2: says that there shouldn't be any, analytics but there's certain
Speaker 2: things by just watching the game and keeping your eyes
Speaker 2: with the human mind and the human pair of eyes
Speaker 2: and mouth and, nose whatever the senses, are you can
Speaker 2: learn about the, game in my, opinion way more than
Speaker 2: just seeing it on a. Screen and for, me that's
Speaker 2: that's where baseball becomes something real and tangible for the human.
Speaker 1: Person that Was manco And Manco Best.
Speaker 3: Week when you want the best of the, best go
Speaker 3: To manco And manco. Again we will be there On friday,
Speaker 3: morning eleven thirty am live show for an, hour the
Speaker 3: three of, us but most Importantly larry bo And Charlie
Speaker 3: manuel will be there as. Well, Hey Monster energy is
Speaker 3: keeping The Philly show going all season.
Speaker 1: LONG a lead.
Speaker 3: Game day isn't just about, Baseball it's about bringing the
Speaker 3: energy wherever you. Are pick up A Monster energy drink
Speaker 3: at your local retailer and fuel the.
Speaker 1: Height how cool is it to be an iron at
Speaker 1: The Iron Hill.
Speaker 2: BREWER i love it right here outside the weather, downtown great,
Speaker 2: breeze great.
Speaker 1: SPOT i was very. Cool so a couple of things
Speaker 1: before we wrap.
Speaker 3: Up Christopher sanchez surprise, prize not, Really he's going to
Speaker 3: start THE Nl All Star. Game word broke on that On,
Speaker 3: sunday and he becomes the First phillies pitcher to start
Speaker 3: An All Star game Since roy Hall day in twenty and.
Speaker 1: Eleven And Dylan ceese is going to.
Speaker 3: Start The All Star game of THE al for the al,
Speaker 3: starters and he's the First Blue jay to start The
Speaker 3: All Star game for The Blue jays Since Roy halliday
Speaker 3: in two thousand and.
Speaker 1: Nine so that's a great. TIME a weird. QUINCIDENT i
Speaker 1: read that from Lock.
Speaker 10: March march had that on a tweet on a she
Speaker 10: tweeted it out or posted it and uh and in
Speaker 10: addition she wrote about, it that's a that's a really cool, anecdote.
Speaker 2: MAN i may actually WHEN i read, that, man it
Speaker 2: got me a Little i'm not gonna lie to, you
Speaker 2: it made me really really, sentimental.
Speaker 1: Man, YEAH i got a little misty.
Speaker 2: Eye, yeah to think about, that because we almost traded
Speaker 2: for him in two thousand and, nine right and then
Speaker 2: and then he you, know there was a lot of
Speaker 2: talk about us getting them and all that stuff at the,
Speaker 2: time and then and then he ended up pitching in
Speaker 2: The All Star game for The phillies in twenty, eleven
Speaker 2: so pretty.
Speaker 3: Awesome, yeah, yes, YEAH i Mean sanchez obviously, deserving you,
Speaker 3: KNOW i, YEAH i, mean just just a great moment for,
Speaker 3: him well. Deserved he's been one of the best pitchers
Speaker 3: of baseball for the past few.
Speaker 1: Years you, know he's what eleven and four of two
Speaker 1: six two we area of the. Break this streak was
Speaker 1: one of the big pitching highlights of the season so.
Speaker 3: Far, YES i, mean That's it's one of those things
Speaker 3: where you, know ten years around twenty years from, now
Speaker 3: you're going to, go what are some of the great
Speaker 3: things that happened and during the twenty twenty sixth, season
Speaker 3: and it's gonna Be Christopher sanchez's squirreless.
Speaker 4: STREAK i mean, YEAH i kind of wish it didn't
Speaker 4: leak yesterday that he was getting to, start because when
Speaker 4: it comes to The All Star, Game i'm a little
Speaker 4: bit old, school AND i mean, This they've been playing
Speaker 4: this game since nineteen thirty, three and it's always been
Speaker 4: traditioned to have a big press conference with an unveiling
Speaker 4: of the starting. Pitcher and you know that's gone NOW
Speaker 4: i mean it's, anticlimactic BUT i understand it's out. There
Speaker 4: but hats off To christopher well. Deserved i'm sure he'll be.
Speaker 4: Firing hopefully it's just for one inning and then go
Speaker 4: shake some hands.
Speaker 1: And guess what one of the other reasons why it's
Speaker 1: the right thing to.
Speaker 2: Do the man is seven and one with a zero
Speaker 2: point eighty six e R a and eleven starts in
Speaker 2: this ballpark this. Season not only, that he's got eighteen
Speaker 2: walks and eighty five punch outs in seventy three innings
Speaker 2: with a zero point nine to three. WHIP i, mean
Speaker 2: he has absolutely. Dealt he loves pitching Here Citizens Bank.
Speaker 2: PARK i Think Dave roberts did the absolute right. Thing
Speaker 2: we talked about it a lot. Prior we talked about
Speaker 2: it weeks.
Speaker 1: Ago if you ever checked it, out but really deserve.
Speaker 1: It it's.
Speaker 4: Awesome you're gonna have a feel for the. Story AND
Speaker 4: Mlb Dave robinson had a feel for the. STORY i
Speaker 4: know mister rossk to drop. OUT a couple of guys
Speaker 4: dropped out because they pitched On. Sunday but it's In
Speaker 4: Citizens Bank park In. Philadelphia it's the two hundred and.
Speaker 4: Fifty if you have a feel for the. Story this
Speaker 4: kid deserves the. Start you give him the. Start if
Speaker 4: you had a even more of a feel for the,
Speaker 4: Story Zach wheeler would be in the game as.
Speaker 1: Well rad no.
Speaker 3: Doubt so you're gonna Have brandon marsh in the starting,
Speaker 3: lineup AND i Guess Kyle schwarber will be in the
Speaker 3: line starting lamp as.
Speaker 1: Well because show Hey otani dropped out a couple of
Speaker 1: things before we wrap.
Speaker 3: Up phillies beat The tigers On sunday five, nothing And
Speaker 3: Don mattingly, said in his, opinion it was the best
Speaker 3: win of the.
Speaker 1: Season you, KNOW i guess because because the way That wheeler.
Speaker 3: Pitched and the bullpen pitched at the, end but also
Speaker 3: because they got to trek scooble a little.
Speaker 1: Bit they and they didn't they didn't run into a
Speaker 1: ball and had a three run home. Run they were.
Speaker 4: REALLY i, MEAN i, THOUGHT i to hear him say
Speaker 4: that was really, heartening BECAUSE i thought they looked tired
Speaker 4: leading up to that, series and it's you know that
Speaker 4: everybody's looking forward to the, break but you dig down
Speaker 4: and you show some.
Speaker 1: Care after Losing friday, night you come back and win
Speaker 1: two in a.
Speaker 4: ROW i thought that showed some some real toughness to
Speaker 4: resolve and character that you know, What, yeah we got
Speaker 4: a break and we're not roll. Over and they went
Speaker 4: out and took it To tarret scoobl saw a ton of.
Speaker 4: PITCHES jt was a, big big hit with a big.
Speaker 1: Game it was.
Speaker 2: IMPRESSIVE a couple of storylines just real. Quick The phillies
Speaker 2: do not play, well had not played well during the.
Speaker 2: Day they played an excellent baseball game that was huge for,
Speaker 2: them and the fact that they had a hustle single
Speaker 2: infield single sort of helped separate this. GAME i know
Speaker 2: it was a big hit BY, jt but that's hustle
Speaker 2: single By scott drove in a run put the game
Speaker 2: away in my. OPINION i, mean it was already sort of.
Speaker 2: There but they did some things that were Like Baseball
Speaker 2: league type things that you want to see from a
Speaker 2: contending team and uh and they did a lot of.
Speaker 2: That two out, hits the, pitching the, defense a lot
Speaker 2: of stuff that you really like to see as a.
Speaker 1: Manager, yeah they can do.
Speaker 3: It they have the ability to do it's just a
Speaker 3: matter of if they can do this stuff In.
