Positive Takeaways Despite Tough Series-Opening Loss to Marlins

Shawn Coleman and Stephen Tolbert recap a pretty lackluster night for the Braves in a 10-4 loss to the Marlins. However, the offense still showed good signs of being productive. And while there are a few early season pitching concerns, a fresh bullpen should help in the coming days.

Speaker 1: Welcome one and all to the Hemy Territory Podcast. My

Speaker 1: name is Sean Coleman. Hope wherever you have been and

Speaker 1: wherever you are listening hey for the past ten or

Speaker 1: some days, I hope that you, your friends and family have

Speaker 1: been well. The Braves have been playing well. I took

Speaker 1: a little bit of a hiatus. I've been a bit

Speaker 1: under the weather. And also happy to mention that you know,

Speaker 1: Michael Harris is not the only one of the Brave's

Speaker 1: family who's welcome the new one. We welcomed a new

Speaker 1: bravesman as well, and Orion so Dad times too now

Speaker 1: so to get ready to let the kids be able

Speaker 1: to enjoy Braves baseball for years to come. And you

Speaker 1: know what, there's been plenty of Braves baseball to enjoy.

Speaker 1: Tonight not so much. But I'm going to chuck have

Speaker 1: to schedule loss, and I'm also going to sit here

Speaker 1: and let what are the best when it comes to

Speaker 1: breaking down the Braves Not good friend, It's good to

Speaker 1: see you again, Sir Steven Tobert Man. Disappointed Knight, but

Speaker 1: there's some positives I feel to talk about.

Speaker 2: What's up, buddy, It's been a minute. We've been like

Speaker 2: ten days or yeah, seven to ten days apart. Obviously

Speaker 2: you had some pretty big life stuff going on. Finally

Speaker 2: got the full team backs. Brad was traveling a bunch

Speaker 2: last week. Obviously you were gone last week. We got

Speaker 2: everybody back. It's been a fun stretch of Braves baseball

Speaker 2: while you were gone. Tonight, notwithstanding, tonight was kind of

Speaker 2: a bummer. We're going to talk about it, and bummer

Speaker 2: is is actually a very adequate adjective to use. But overall,

Speaker 2: it has been a really fun stretch of baseball, and

Speaker 2: you know, the offense has looked good, the pitching has

Speaker 2: been unbelievably good, probably a little a little bit of

Speaker 2: a mirage, which we're also going to talk about, but

Speaker 2: it's it's been really fun and the team has been

Speaker 2: really good and unfortunate tonight we're gonna talk about a loss. Obviously,

Speaker 2: Brad Scott did a show last night talking about the weekend.

Speaker 2: So we're gonna cover the game tonight, and to start

Speaker 2: it out, we are going to mix it up engineered.

Speaker 1: By Fast and All.

Speaker 2: All right, sho, So we're we're gonna mix it up

Speaker 2: here tonight. I know it's been a while since you've

Speaker 2: done a mix it up segment. But here's what I

Speaker 2: want to talk about to start out with. And you've

Speaker 2: been gone, but I know you've been paying attention, watching

Speaker 2: and falling along in the last couple of weeks. So

Speaker 2: Austin Riley, I want to talk about Austin Riley for

Speaker 2: a second. So a real slow start for Austin. What

Speaker 2: we've seen a lot of is what we've seen a

Speaker 2: lot of the last couple of years in that Austin

Speaker 2: has been behind velocity and kind of ahead of sliders,

Speaker 2: and not only ahead of sliders, but also having a

Speaker 2: hard time laying off that outside in a way slider

Speaker 2: that we saw really you know, his early kind of

Speaker 2: first year and a half in the big league is

Speaker 2: that that pitch was just a monster for him, and

Speaker 2: she just took him forever to solve it. And he

Speaker 2: really got a hold of it about a year and

Speaker 2: a half into his career, and it really hasn't popped

Speaker 2: its ugly head up until about the last eighteen.

Speaker 3: Months or so.

Speaker 2: Watching Austin, and he's swinging out a lot, but even

Speaker 2: more concerning lately has been that he's having a hard

Speaker 2: time catching up to velocity and tonight even though it

Speaker 2: was not the game the Braves wanted, and it certainly

Speaker 2: wasn't a game we wanted. One thing, and I know

Speaker 2: you were watching as well. One thing that was encouraging

Speaker 2: to me was that Austin turned around a couple of

Speaker 2: like ninety.

Speaker 3: Eight mile on hour fastballs.

Speaker 2: He hit one down the line for a single. He

Speaker 2: h had another one up the middle that it was.

Speaker 2: It didn't end up being a single, it was. It

Speaker 2: ended up being an out, but it was hit like

Speaker 2: one hundred and eight miles an hour. It's good to

Speaker 2: see Austin's square up big time for not just like

Speaker 2: ninety four ninety five, but to see Austin square up

Speaker 2: like ninety eight ninety nine and you're a Perez tonight

Speaker 2: was just throw an absolute gas.

Speaker 3: The Braves did it.

Speaker 2: I thought a pretty good job against Perez, but the

Speaker 2: bullpen just couldn't.

Speaker 3: Hold it together.

Speaker 2: But it's really good to see Austin Riley getting around

Speaker 2: on velocity again where he can actually do damage on fastballs,

Speaker 2: which is kind of what he does when he's when

Speaker 2: he's going well, and the power stroke is where it

Speaker 2: needs to be.

Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'll actually expanded it a bit, Moore, you know,

Speaker 1: I think Austin Briley had his best at bat of

Speaker 1: the season tonight, and I think Michael Yastrupsky had one

Speaker 1: of his best at bats of the sea tonight. And

Speaker 1: that's kind of one of the big takeaways that I've had.

Speaker 1: The Braves have done a good job of beating teams

Speaker 1: that they're supposed to be in the way in which

Speaker 1: they're supposed to beat them. They're doing it more through

Speaker 1: sustainable sources now, Riley Olsen, Akudya Baldwin, those reliable sources

Speaker 1: are heating up a bit. You're not relying and you know,

Speaker 1: like Debond and Michael Harrison, you know, Ozzy Albi's though,

Speaker 1: it's great to see those guys doing it as well,

Speaker 1: but as good to start as we had gotten, you

Speaker 1: still saw that at times. You know, we've seen what

Speaker 1: three or four times the Braves have just laid duds

Speaker 1: out there when it comes to the offense. And you know,

Speaker 1: I mentioned it before and it's proven to be true

Speaker 1: this year so far. The Braves over since what I

Speaker 1: believe the start of last year, if they score five

Speaker 1: or more runs, they win eighty percent of their games.

Speaker 1: If they score four or less, they score they went

Speaker 1: thirty percent. Tonight they score four. I think that they

Speaker 1: are now eight one of the season. When they score

Speaker 1: five runs. They're two and five when they score four runs.

Speaker 1: So that's what I'm talking about when it comes to

Speaker 1: this Brave's offense. It's been good to see what they've

Speaker 1: been doing. But still though when they face quality opposition.

Speaker 1: Parker Messic, Jose Soriano, I believe Waterin Robriguez had success

Speaker 1: against them. He's hadn't gotten off to a really good

Speaker 1: start this year. Quality stuff plus velocity still gives this

Speaker 1: slide up trouble and it was just so good to

Speaker 1: see that idiot it, especially us bouncing back after Grant

Speaker 1: Holmes had struggled so badly, and I believe it was

Speaker 1: the fourth idide. It was really good to see not

Speaker 1: only that we bounced back, but you didn't see much

Speaker 1: last year. But it was against high velocity. That was

Speaker 1: Hidds Cave. I get your perez at Pereis's high velocity.

Speaker 1: So even though tonight with a loss, it was good

Speaker 1: to see the Braves have success. I get to not

Speaker 1: only someone with elite stuff, but elite velocity because you're

Speaker 1: going to have to be consistent with that to really

Speaker 1: make noise of the playoffs.

Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a good point, and you're right about Shrimpsky.

Speaker 2: I did think he had a really good at bad tonight,

Speaker 2: and he struggled with velocity. He especially struggled with velosity up.

Speaker 2: He's swinging through a lot of high fastballs right now,

Speaker 2: and those were pitches that he was just crushing in

Speaker 2: spring training. Him man Austin both honestly had tremendous spring

Speaker 2: trainings where they were doing tons of damage, bunch of homers.

Speaker 3: Bunch of doubles.

Speaker 2: So it was a bit surprising to see how slow

Speaker 2: of the start they got off to. Austin has been

Speaker 2: coming around a little bit. We're still waiting on the power.

Speaker 2: I don't think Austin has a home run yet this season.

Speaker 3: I don't think.

Speaker 2: I don't know if you Stripsky has a home run

Speaker 2: yet either, Actually haven't. I don't remember it off the

Speaker 2: top of my head. There might be one that I'm forgetting.

Speaker 2: But the Braves need those two guys to hit for power,

Speaker 2: and you know, when you get to the postseason specifically,

Speaker 2: and right now at least this team does look like

Speaker 2: it's going to be a postseason team. It's so early,

Speaker 2: of course, and there's a lot of baseball to play,

Speaker 2: but like early on, you can see the makings of

Speaker 2: a really good team. But as you get into postseason play,

Speaker 2: and like you just said, as you get into way

Speaker 2: more velocity, which is kind of what the postseason is now,

Speaker 2: as everybody throws their four best pitchers and and you

Speaker 2: know you're facing ninety seven, ninety eight, ninety nine consistently.

Speaker 2: And I do think that's something that Braves struggled with

Speaker 2: in the postseason. The last three times they've been in

Speaker 2: the postseason, the offense has really really struggled. And you know,

Speaker 2: part of fixing that is just having everybody a being

Speaker 2: able to hit, but be hitting for power so that

Speaker 2: you don't need four or five hits in an inning

Speaker 2: to score runs, right, you can get a walk in

Speaker 2: a blast. And that's how the Braves won the World

Speaker 2: Series in twenty one. They did it with bullpen and power,

Speaker 2: and that's kind of what I want to see again.

Speaker 2: I want to see bullpen and power. A lot of

Speaker 2: that comes down to Austin, specifically Austin. I do think Acunya,

Speaker 2: Baldwin and Olsen are gonna be there, but Austin, you know, Yastremski,

Speaker 2: those like, especially against right handed pitching. Those two guys

Speaker 2: you kind of expect to be your next guys, and

Speaker 2: so it was good to see a little improvement. I'm

Speaker 2: still not quite there with Austin. I still am concerned.

Speaker 2: The slider stuff has got me as concerned as I've

Speaker 2: been about that.

Speaker 3: Since his rookie year. But we'll see.

Speaker 2: You know, I'm not ready to claim anything or conclude anything,

Speaker 2: and no one should be. I mean, we're literally two

Speaker 2: weeks into the season, so you know, I see people

Speaker 2: drawing conclusions every day on on on the internet, on Twitter.

Speaker 3: It's just way too early for that.

Speaker 2: We're still just collecting data, kind of tracking trends, and

Speaker 2: that's why we wanted to talk about this in the

Speaker 2: first segment, where I did think Austin and you're right,

Speaker 2: Y Strimsky both had really good games tonight.

Speaker 1: Well, there's also those, you know, underlying sides that Austin

Speaker 1: is improving to areas that's going to allow for him

Speaker 1: to remain consistent seventy percent right now in walk rate,

Speaker 1: seventy one percent right now at chase rates, and the

Speaker 1: bat speed remains elite ninety.

Speaker 2: First, and don't people don't know that Austin Rally has

Speaker 2: insane bat speed, like elite level bat speed.

Speaker 1: So that makes it seem to me as if it's

Speaker 1: the mechanical side of things that's just been off here

Speaker 1: over the past eighteen months. The bat speed still certainly

Speaker 1: is there now Stripsky the early numbers old to him.

Speaker 1: They're a bit more concerned, but obviously you're significantly, you know,

Speaker 1: more focused on Austin Briley carrying you know, a big

Speaker 1: role for this team that than by Ustripsky. So it's

Speaker 1: good to see him making improvement. So that's the positive

Speaker 1: side of things. A little bit of you know, kicks

Speaker 1: of the arbor tonight is will we'll discuss that in

Speaker 1: just a moment after a word from our partners.

Speaker 2: Fast and All Industrial Supplies Innovative Solutions. Want to learn

Speaker 2: more visit Fastenall dot com.

Speaker 1: So as much as we talk about fast and I'll

Speaker 1: be and trustworthy Steven. You know, the Braves pitched overall

Speaker 1: has been very trustworthy. It's been very good in the

Speaker 1: starting rotation, it's been very good in the bullpen. The

Speaker 1: other day, you know, I looked it up and I

Speaker 1: made the point that you know, the Braves are getting lucky.

Speaker 1: You know, they have like an eighty six percent or

Speaker 1: you know, before the weekend they had like an eighty

Speaker 1: six percent strand rate out of their bullpen. They had

Speaker 1: like a two twenty four batty to average oballs in play,

Speaker 1: so a little bit of luck. But they were also

Speaker 1: top four at e r A x e r A

Speaker 1: f I p phip XMIP. That's a good place to me.

Speaker 1: You're legitimate if that's you, you're legitimate against your peers.

Speaker 1: But you also brought up the point, and I think

Speaker 1: that it's a valid point. As good as the starting

Speaker 1: rotation has been, the regression Mobster was covered, and on

Speaker 1: a night where the brains were already kind of shorthanded

Speaker 1: because they had used their bullpits so much recently, great

Speaker 1: hope was going forward. Was it the most ideal start?

Speaker 2: Yeah, So I've been monitoring I've been monitoring Twitter after

Speaker 2: the game. We record immediately after the game, so I've

Speaker 2: been kind of waiting for the beat writers to tweet

Speaker 2: out exactly because Grant Holmes got pulled at fifty nine

Speaker 2: pitches tonight and he'd only given up three runs and

Speaker 2: that's a you know, we're still kind of learning what

Speaker 2: Weiss and his tendencies and how he's going to run

Speaker 2: the bullpen, but that's a pretty unusual place to pull

Speaker 2: a starter. At fifty nine pitches in three yearned runs allowed,

Speaker 2: he did give up thirty or he did throw thirty

Speaker 2: pitches in the fourth inning his last inning, And a

Speaker 2: lot of managers are very conservative early in the season.

Speaker 2: Anytime a guy throws like more than thirty, it gets

Speaker 2: up over thirty pitches in an inning, a lot of

Speaker 2: times they'll pull up.

Speaker 3: And I did just look and what Weiss.

Speaker 2: Did say after the game that Grant Holmes was just

Speaker 2: on a very.

Speaker 3: Short leach tonight.

Speaker 2: He worked pretty hard in the Anaheim start, and it

Speaker 2: doesn't look like there's any kind of health concern. It

Speaker 2: looks more just he threw he had to throw thirty,

Speaker 2: you know, because before the fourth inning to night he.

Speaker 3: Was like perfect. I don't think he had given up

Speaker 3: a base runner.

Speaker 2: And then in the fourth inning he started walking people,

Speaker 2: gave up some hits, had a hard time getting out

Speaker 2: of that inning and giving up three runs. But he

Speaker 2: threw thirty pitches and when that inning was over, of

Speaker 2: course the Braves came back and scored, but then Walt

Speaker 2: Poulton and went to Aaron Bummer that did not go well,

Speaker 2: went to Roaldie Munos that really did not go well,

Speaker 2: and then finished with I mean it was basically kind

Speaker 2: of it. They kind of punted the game after that,

Speaker 2: so and the offense just couldn't keep up.

Speaker 3: But I do I'm not ready to say I do.

Speaker 3: I do certainly believe.

Speaker 2: That the rotation is going to regress from their results

Speaker 2: based numbers.

Speaker 3: I don't think.

Speaker 2: I mean coming into the night like Bryce Elder, Ronaldo

Speaker 2: Lopez and Grant Alms like they had it combined ERA

Speaker 2: under two and a combined FIP like over four. So

Speaker 2: there's just no planet where that's going to sustain itself.

Speaker 2: And people got mad at me about that post a

Speaker 2: I didn't intend it to be. I guess as negative

Speaker 2: as some people took it, I really meant it more

Speaker 2: like I hope you. I'm just trying to point out

Speaker 2: that there's a very odd there's very clear and obvious

Speaker 2: signs that the starting pitching is pitching a bit over

Speaker 2: its head right now like that, And I would I

Speaker 2: would expect that most people kind of understand that Bryce

Speaker 2: Elder is not going to be like a sub two

Speaker 2: e R a pitcher for the season, and Ronaldo Lopez,

Speaker 2: who had like a one oh five YARRA at the time,

Speaker 2: it's probably not gonna sustain that, especially when he's got like.

Speaker 3: A five FIP.

Speaker 2: People took it harder than I intended to take it.

Speaker 2: But I do think the pitching is going to regress.

Speaker 2: I do think there's a chance, however, the offense can

Speaker 2: be unbelievably good, and I think there's ch as the

Speaker 2: bullpen can be unbelievably good. I do think there's still

Speaker 2: some holes kind of at the front of the bullpen.

Speaker 2: I think the back of the bullpen is tremendous. And

Speaker 2: you have talked about the additions potentially of another reliever

Speaker 2: sometime before the season's over, which I think is probably

Speaker 2: a pretty accurate call. But yeah, I do think the

Speaker 2: rotation is gonna regress a little bit. I mean, I

Speaker 2: just do, and I think the numbers bear that out.

Speaker 2: They have the lowest batting average on balls and play

Speaker 2: in baseball coming into tonight, so like, yeah, you're gonna

Speaker 2: see probably some of the results catch up to some

Speaker 2: of the profiles at some point and that's just kind

Speaker 2: of the cold hard numbers of it.

Speaker 1: And I love the fact that Weiss is aggressive. I

Speaker 1: would much rather yeah, you be aggressive, then you be routine.

Speaker 1: You know that that was a frustration with bride Sticker.

Speaker 1: I do love the fact that Rice is aggressive, but

Speaker 1: I do have a couple of concerns about the bullpit.

Speaker 1: And it's not because I feel that the bullpit it's

Speaker 1: going to regress. It's because I truly whop this bullpen

Speaker 1: to be the best in baseball, because if it could

Speaker 1: be the best in baseball, that that trait is something

Speaker 1: you're likely going to need for this bravest team to

Speaker 1: be the best version of itself and obviously have the

Speaker 1: best chance it truly winted a World Series. The concerns

Speaker 1: that I have we do not have another high leverage

Speaker 1: or playoff caliber left hander in the system right now

Speaker 1: other than Dylan Lee. And I know that Erin Bumber

Speaker 1: was good last year compared to other relievers in high leverage,

Speaker 1: but you mentioned it yourself, Stephen, there's a difference between

Speaker 1: Erin Bumber throwing ninety three ninety four with this movement

Speaker 1: and him throwing eighty nine ninety Yeah, that's a big

Speaker 1: follow off for the type of picture that he is.

Speaker 1: So I do feel and thankfully we've got Hayden Harris,

Speaker 1: you know, we've got Dylan Dodd, you know who. If

Speaker 1: Bumber just continues to struggle, you know, we've got options

Speaker 1: that we can go with. But the bigger concern for

Speaker 1: me is if we do see the picture regress, I

Speaker 1: don't want wise to be too aggressive where we start

Speaker 1: to overwork our bullpen, because what other trend that you

Speaker 1: see when it comes to playoff teams, The teams that

Speaker 1: typically have the best chance to advance in the playoffs,

Speaker 1: their bullpens are typically towards the top of the league

Speaker 1: in terms of fewest indiings pitched because they're starting staffs

Speaker 1: typically go five to six indiings every night. So I

Speaker 1: enjoy the aggressiveness and I'm okay with these schedule losses

Speaker 1: once every ten games or so to try to preserve

Speaker 1: the bullpen. But besides Dylan Lee, the lack of reliable

Speaker 1: left headed depth, which I think Alex at Thoplos will

Speaker 1: address up the trade deadline, but it's not necessarily a

Speaker 1: just absolutely critical concern, But I just don't what if

Speaker 1: our starting staff regresses. I don't know what the bullpen did,

Speaker 1: become overused, and the quality is starting to diminish as

Speaker 1: we get into more crucial times later in the year

Speaker 1: of the playoffs.

Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, bummert at eighty nine. Ninety is just not

Speaker 2: the same guy that we were excited about a couple

Speaker 2: of years ago, is not. I mean, you know, and

Speaker 2: it really hasn't been talked about a lot, but like

Speaker 2: he's lost like two or three miles an hour in

Speaker 2: his fastball. I'd say massive deal, especially for a reliever

Speaker 2: who wasn't throwing that hard to begin with, to be

Speaker 2: I mean, ninety four is kind of below league average

Speaker 2: at this point.

Speaker 3: So yeah, he's just not quite the same guy.

Speaker 2: Listening to Braves ol nine million bucks this year, so

Speaker 2: he's not going anywhere. But I do think Dylan Dodd

Speaker 2: is a like a major league caliber left handed pitcher

Speaker 2: to be a reliever at least. I want to just

Speaker 2: get Dodd up here and just leave him. I mean,

Speaker 2: I understand what they did, they just ran Dodd three

Speaker 2: innings and needed a fresh arm, But like, I think

Speaker 2: Dodd's actually gonna be into one of your better relievers.

Speaker 2: I just want to get him up and leave him

Speaker 2: in the bullpen. You know, I really hope Roaldi Munoz

Speaker 2: didn't unpack because I'm guessing he's gonna be sent right

Speaker 2: back down after the game. I mean, it might happen

Speaker 2: before we get done recording this, so I would not

Speaker 2: be surprised a off they brought another arm up. Yeah,

Speaker 2: but just get dot up here and leave him. And

Speaker 2: I do think they will add at the deadline. I'll

Speaker 2: say this. One thing that helps what you're talking about

Speaker 2: is the fact that the Braids are playing all these blowouts.

Speaker 2: Like the the offense scored thirteen runs last night, They

Speaker 2: scored what like seven or eight the night before. They

Speaker 2: scored seven or eight the last four or five games

Speaker 2: with one shutout in there, and even that game was

Speaker 2: a blowout. It was just a blow out the other way. Really,

Speaker 2: like their last seven games have been blowouts. I actually

Speaker 2: don't remember the last time, like Suarez and Iglesias had

Speaker 2: to come in and like protect a close game. So

Speaker 2: blowouts help keep your bullpen fresh too, And luckily the

Speaker 2: Brads have had plenty of those to start, So you know,

Speaker 2: I'm okay. If Walt wants to use his high leverage guys,

Speaker 2: maybe a little more aggressively right now, especially now that

Speaker 2: we have off days again. I do think you can

Speaker 2: you can work them in. But you're right, I mean

Speaker 2: they have to. Their bullpen is going. I think the

Speaker 2: bullpen is going to be a massive weapon, and you

Speaker 2: do have to preserve it.

Speaker 3: You do have to keep it fresh.

Speaker 2: But you know, hopefully the offense is pulling enough weight

Speaker 2: where they get enough blowouts where between blowouts and off days,

Speaker 2: you know they can keep everybody fresh and still use them.

Speaker 2: You know, tonight was going to be tough because Grant

Speaker 2: Holmes came out so early, Like you got to use

Speaker 2: some of your lesser relievers to get through six innings

Speaker 2: or five innings or whatever they had to cover. So

Speaker 2: I like, you can't go to like Suarez or Iglicias

Speaker 2: in the fifth inning. I mean, other guys got to

Speaker 2: do their job. Bummer's got to get out of that inning.

Speaker 2: Munos is Munyos, you know whatever. He's probably the worst

Speaker 2: guy in the bullpen right now. So but you know,

Speaker 2: keep blowing teams out and giving your bullpen off days.

Speaker 2: I do think Alex is going to address the bullpen

Speaker 2: at the deadline and get Dylan dot up here, like

Speaker 2: he's just I think he's just want to even better reliever,

Speaker 2: So just get him up here.

Speaker 1: And he's also could be trusted. I think that he's

Speaker 1: got a bit more makeup or a bit more a

Speaker 1: better pitching style. That all I springing to go multiple aids.

Speaker 1: What's a week? And you also could have bido who

Speaker 1: I think is you know as much more significant decide

Speaker 1: as a hose swore is so tonight, Hey, you just

Speaker 1: flush it and you move forward. But but it is

Speaker 1: key to certainly flush it, but put focus right back

Speaker 1: home because you're in the midst of twelve more games

Speaker 1: against the El East, where you currently have a one

Speaker 1: game lead over these baby barlins. We'll discuss a bit

Speaker 1: more about the series in just a moment after a

Speaker 1: word from our partners.

Speaker 1: So, Stephen, the thing that I'll say is this is

Speaker 1: so the brain's right now a ten and seven. They're

Speaker 1: one game up in the Italys, And like I say,

Speaker 1: I know that ninety percent of the seasons left, so

Speaker 1: that really makes sense to talk about stan needs. But

Speaker 1: this may be the most consecutive games in a row

Speaker 1: that we played directly against the ITA least. So these games,

Speaker 1: you know, basically count for double, you know what a

Speaker 1: regular game does. Because of division, Stan Eads and the Barlins,

Speaker 1: I don't necessarily think that they they could surprise they could.

Speaker 1: I think they're more of a can stay in the

Speaker 1: picture for a good part of the season than a

Speaker 1: true wildcock contender. But this offense can hit, and we're

Speaker 1: not talking about like you know, they're all or nothing.

Speaker 1: You know, they could hit a bunch of home runs,

Speaker 1: or they could go through a three game stretch and

Speaker 1: score one run. You've got a lot of good, young,

Speaker 1: talented hitters who up and down the lineup, can put

Speaker 1: together good at bats, work counts, things such as that.

Speaker 1: So the brains a get need to flush, you know,

Speaker 1: tonight down the toilet, but especially it gets right handers.

Speaker 1: You've got Renald Lopez on the bound tomorrow, and then

Speaker 1: you've got Bryce Elder on the bound on Wednesday. The

Speaker 1: Braves are going to be facing lower caliber stuff when

Speaker 1: it comes to the Marlins pitchers. But my point is

Speaker 1: this offense needs to show up. Thankfully, you'll have a

Speaker 1: bit of a fresher bullpit, but this offense, the four

Speaker 1: runs tonight is fined, probably need to get above five

Speaker 1: over the next two games to really have the best

Speaker 1: shot of getting this series win, which I fully feel

Speaker 1: the Braves can do.

Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree on the.

Speaker 2: On the Marlin, they don't even have their best hitter

Speaker 2: right now. Kyle Stowers is I think he's dealing with

Speaker 2: a hamstring. I think he's actually about to start a

Speaker 2: rehab assignment. But he had like a one fifty WRC.

Speaker 2: I mean, he was a monster last year. I think

Speaker 2: he had like twenty five or thirty homers last year. So,

Speaker 2: you know, I don't think Miami is good. I think

Speaker 2: Miami is probably as talented as they've been in a

Speaker 2: long time. I think that's I think they're like a

Speaker 2: five hundred team, which is a big deal for Miami

Speaker 2: because they're normally not even close to that. So, you know,

Speaker 2: I'm curious to see where they go. You're right though

Speaker 2: the stretch, the Brace have coming up a lot of

Speaker 2: in l East, got the you know, the Phillies. I

Speaker 2: think we're going to Philly next weekend. Yeah, going to

Speaker 2: Philly next weekend. So it'd be nice to win these

Speaker 2: last two games. You got Ronaldo Lopez pitching tomorrow and

Speaker 2: then you got Bryce Elder pitching on Wednesday. I am

Speaker 2: very curious to see Ronaldo pitch. He's another guy that,

Speaker 2: like his era is, is certainly outpacing his other peripherals

Speaker 2: right now. You know, sometimes that lasts for a long

Speaker 2: time and sometimes it immediately regresses. You just never know.

Speaker 2: Baseball is just random, and when we're talking about samples

Speaker 2: this small. But I do think Ronaldo is probably pitching

Speaker 2: a little bit above his head right now.

Speaker 3: So you're right.

Speaker 2: I think the offense is gonna have to show up,

Speaker 2: and the quality of stuff they're gonna face the next

Speaker 2: two nights is not the same. I mean, you're still

Speaker 2: in one hundred today tonight with an eighty one minitar

Speaker 2: curveball and you know, a nice change up. And I

Speaker 2: thought the Braves still had really good at bats. The

Speaker 2: Braves had base runners all night. I mean, they easily

Speaker 2: could have scored eight or nine runs again tonight. They

Speaker 2: just couldn't get another big hit. So the bats still

Speaker 2: look really good. It's been a really nice stretch from me,

Speaker 2: one of the best stretches of offensive play we've seen

Speaker 2: in a couple of years, frankly, and it's nice to

Speaker 2: see them continue to back it up. It was good

Speaker 2: to see Riley and Yastrumsky have solid at bats. Dom

Speaker 2: Smith just keeps keeps going. It's crazy what Dom Smith

Speaker 2: is doing right now. Even Mike came off. Mike came

Speaker 2: off the paternity list much like our our friend Sean

Speaker 2: Coleman did tonight and immediately walked in his first plate appearance,

Speaker 2: which was hilarious. So yeah, they had base runners everywhere.

Speaker 2: They just couldn't get a big hit at the end.

Speaker 2: So the offense needs to keep going. I am very

Speaker 2: curious see what Ronaldo and Bryce kind of look like

Speaker 2: over the next couple of weeks. Is it is it

Speaker 2: closer to the one E r A they've been pitching

Speaker 2: at or is it more look more look like they're

Speaker 2: peripherals elders.

Speaker 3: Peripherals look better than Ronaldo's. So we'll see. We'll see

Speaker 3: where they go.

Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, the brave as you do a gie.

Speaker 1: They they need to We talked about that consistency from offits.

Speaker 1: They don't need to have as much varians because the

Speaker 1: Marlot's offense is pretty good. The Nationals offense has been

Speaker 1: very good. Now basically you're hitting off the tee when

Speaker 1: your face at the Nationals pitchers, Uh, we know what

Speaker 1: the Phillies offits is capable of So offense is going

Speaker 1: to have to you know, be there again. We're gonna

Speaker 1: have to. We can't. We can't, you know, have these

Speaker 1: you know, over a four game stretch we average five runs,

Speaker 1: but in one game we have thirteen, the other three

Speaker 1: games we have seven. We need to score you know,

Speaker 1: four or five six runs pretty consistently, which we are

Speaker 1: capable of doing. But I will say to your point, Steven,

Speaker 1: I feel much more confident in us being able to

Speaker 1: figure it out offensively now that I have the past

Speaker 1: two years. And I'll expended a little bit more. I

Speaker 1: think it may be because social media wise, and I've

Speaker 1: seen Grove and and others mentioned this, it seems like

Speaker 1: there's more eyes now who are covering the braz Rider League,

Speaker 1: which is awesome to see. But in general, when we

Speaker 1: talk about offense, it's not just the major league level

Speaker 1: like it feels like that many of the Braves, you know,

Speaker 1: more intriguing position prospects are having great starts to the year.

Speaker 1: Colder Asenberg. You know, I think Tate South the scene

Speaker 1: has had a really good start among others. So just

Speaker 1: in general, as for the organization as a whole. I

Speaker 1: feel better than I have and certainly over a year

Speaker 1: about the offensive outlook for this team. But right now

Speaker 1: it's just keeping them to be consistent instead of having

Speaker 1: those variances, you know, to where they could be great

Speaker 1: one night, but to be cold the dicks, They're gonna

Speaker 1: have to be consistent and get five roods. Get that

Speaker 1: five ruds you win frequently.

Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, a lot of it's Riley, You know a

Speaker 2: lot of it's Riley and Yastrimsky. You can't keep counting

Speaker 2: on Tom Smith and Jorge Matteo and Risio Debond to

Speaker 2: get four hits a night. You know that's not going

Speaker 2: to continue. At some point those guys are going to

Speaker 2: kind of find their level offensively, and you need your

Speaker 2: You need your studs to find their level offensively. And

Speaker 2: Acuna too. Like Acuna has gotten off to a slow start.

Speaker 2: Now he's looked tremendous in the last week, so I

Speaker 2: think he's coming out of it. And his expected numbers

Speaker 2: are insane right now. So I don't think anybody's actually

Speaker 2: worried about Ronald, but still you still need your stars

Speaker 2: to be stars, and the offense and the bullpen I

Speaker 2: do think are going to be the things that end

Speaker 2: up carrying this team at the end of the day,

Speaker 2: at least until they get some of these starters back

Speaker 2: from the injury list. So yeah, sean anything else, buddy

Speaker 2: before we get out of here.

Speaker 1: It's just good to talk about a blowout loss and

Speaker 1: a positive light like, Yeah, it's not.

Speaker 3: Like doom and gloom like it was last year.

Speaker 1: Ye, I don't know, but good to keep it. Good

Speaker 1: to be back with you, man, hop hope you've been

Speaker 1: will thanks to Brad Scott for their support as well.

Speaker 1: A little bit under the weather, I'll be all right,

Speaker 1: but you know what, hey, just a lot of good

Speaker 1: things going on, you know, and hopefully the Braves can

Speaker 1: continue again that offensive outlook stayed positive, stayed consistent. I'll

Speaker 1: look to see what can you know. I feel like

Speaker 1: that we're much more capable now than we have been

Speaker 1: in the past few years to keep that offense consistent.

Speaker 3: Yep.
