Ep 69: Pantheon S1E5 "Zero Daze"
The gang gets glitchy as they dig into episode five of the Netflix animated sci-fi drama Pantheon, "Zero Daze." Steve gets clone-y with trivia. Travis announces he is done editing the podcast; listeners are getting the show as if it were live.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a small screen session as a podcast about television series.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm probably Steve, that's probably Amanda, and that's Travis most likely, but who really knows?
[SPEAKER_01]: We've taken a weak log break to test cloud versions of ourselves, so we'll find out if it's working.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, it's testing.
[SPEAKER_01]: You may be Travis, please say hello to try and convince listeners who are real persons.
[SPEAKER_01]: While I track the feedback from our millions of listening bots to determine whether a programming is believable before I post on my birds aren't real,
[SPEAKER_05]: Travis is trying to think of a weird way to say hello.
[SPEAKER_05]: Hello.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, human being.
[SPEAKER_04]: Prove it Travis.
[SPEAKER_04]: Prove it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't.
[SPEAKER_00]: I could be clever AI in a podcast form.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, good.
[SPEAKER_00]: The bots are interacting.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: we can interact without special code words to activate each other.
[SPEAKER_00]: We missed a week last week because I forgot to edit our podcast and post it, so sorry for those that are...
[SPEAKER_00]: playing along at home and listening because there's no excuse.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll just tell everybody as as at once now audience members and fellow show hosts, I am not editing shit anymore.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty much just going straight from, from, from, from, you know, from farm to table is as how we're going to be doing this from here on.
[SPEAKER_00]: And unless there's like, you know, unless there's a coffee and a fade or something that I have to definitely go back and edit out, I'm just going to, I'm going to stop.
[SPEAKER_00]: doing much editing.
[SPEAKER_00]: So expect a little bit lower quality, but also less likely for it to not come out in a timely fashion.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the trade off.
[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, I apologize for my um's.
[SPEAKER_05]: I say so many um's Travis edits out a ton of um's Realizing in advance trying to get better on that.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, all I'm busy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Very busy, so.
[SPEAKER_05]: Well, you were kind of sick too.
[SPEAKER_05]: You were kind of hit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was sick and stuff, so what's this generally speaking?
[SPEAKER_00]: It was like it's it's taking too long, so
[SPEAKER_00]: across the board that editing the skills are like taking the back seat.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if you have a problem with this, you can always reach out to us.
[SPEAKER_01]: Small screen sessions of G-Bile.com is your toll free telephone number.
[SPEAKER_01]: Do we have any emails routes?
[SPEAKER_00]: We do from the one and only Joe Lowery.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Joe's back.
[SPEAKER_00]: Joe is back.
[SPEAKER_00]: He emailed us with the episode with his email titled Pantheon episode one.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll do enough.
[SPEAKER_00]: Joe says, hey boys and girls, I know this is an email that is going to be a bit outdated, but wanted to let you know that I finally was able to find some time to watch the first episode of Pantheon and listen to your episode discussing it a couple of thoughts as I watched episode one and then listen to the podcast.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh man, this show might be another tough one for me.
[SPEAKER_00]: I kept seeing the scary future to come for my fourth grade daughter and the drama's last challenges she's potentially going to be facing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't want to think about that for at least a couple more years.
[SPEAKER_02]: on your skin.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I got that.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he says, while I work in technology, I only pretend to be a technologist.
[SPEAKER_00]: I get that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I teach economics.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know shit about economics.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's not true.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know some shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I say that because even with my day job at background, I took the same path as a man in Travis.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anything I didn't understand, especially lambda calculus trivia.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's happy not to think too hard about because I knew Steve would explain it to us.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks Steve.
[SPEAKER_00]: Cheers to you, Joe.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for emailing us.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for checking out on me on Plotto on Tuesday too.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy this in the Steve talk about things other than the terrifying future that awaits us all, he is on the Plotto podcast talking sports with our
[SPEAKER_00]: What is he like our podcast godfather or pod father?
[SPEAKER_00]: Mike Govier works over at the podcast talking, you know, our pod daddy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Two L's two z's.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's get into some trivia.
[SPEAKER_01]: Tackle the clones edition.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my.
[SPEAKER_01]: Bong Junho of Parasite and Snowpiercer wrote producing directories diversified comedy starring Robert Pattinson it's Mickey 17 I had potential but yeah just it did yeah it didn't work they cloned Tyrone
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a famous clone-themed film starring goofkey, let's see the iconic.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, AC phenomena.
[SPEAKER_01]: AC.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_00]: I got to maybe tell that you get through a question.
[SPEAKER_05]: No, this is correct.
[SPEAKER_05]: Say it.
[SPEAKER_05]: He'll finish it.
[SPEAKER_05]: And then I'll learn about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: In this tank film with the Star Trek film franchise, Tom Hardy plays
[SPEAKER_01]: a fella what prefers his Earl Grey to be hot and it's plots to be slop.
[SPEAKER_05]: I did, I think I saw that one.
[SPEAKER_05]: I have no idea what it's cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, isn't that, um, starts with an E. Shit, it's all green.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's very green.
[SPEAKER_05]: Is Eric Banna in that one?
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, that's a different one.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, that's Eugene Abrams check.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was real early Tom Hardy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Got it, what does it look like?
[SPEAKER_00]: Enemies is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: And the way that the the way that the type faces, I think the east X out or something like that.
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, you, you did.
[SPEAKER_05]: I could be wrong.
[SPEAKER_05]: I just I'm seeing something and then I had that might be that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Emperor Cleon and the Apple TV series adaptation of Asimos Foundation lacks this ubiquitous human feature he'd likely gaze into had even naturally born As eyes He has a feature he would gaze into had a good boy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, would gaze into a vagina Oh No man I didn't do this podcast anymore
[SPEAKER_00]: Enable.
[SPEAKER_00]: You got it.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: Mixed on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cleared.
[SPEAKER_01]: Such a lazy anagram for clone.
[SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Lawns would have been better because it sounds like nuts.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a point across.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, And finally, this extremely forgettable 2005 clone Euphoria Organs film with a generic name starts notable performers.
[SPEAKER_01]: You a migraegor, Scarlett Johansson,
[SPEAKER_01]: Got it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Never saw it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: My Clark Duncan seemed to send me.
[SPEAKER_05]: What is it?
[SPEAKER_01]: The cast was like a shitty movie.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was called the island.
[SPEAKER_05]: What are they organ harvesting people on an island?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: The clones people so that like their rich outside the island counterparts could, you know, drank and destroy their bodies and do whatever they wanted because they had clones of healing.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's kind of like there are any.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I haven't been in an outie, but not as good.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's terrible.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that guy Alex Kurtzman who wrote it is responsible for ruining Star Trek.
[SPEAKER_01]: So.
[SPEAKER_05]: Boo.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: So we don't like him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, fuck that guy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Did he make Star Trek go woke?
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a stupid thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: People could play about Captain America being too.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, have you ever actually read or watch this thing?
[SPEAKER_01]: Or just even know anything about like why the character was a minute.
[SPEAKER_01]: So why don't you share, I guess?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's good.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Mumbai's presodry diet cellular network shifts the bed, causing some riots.
[SPEAKER_01]: And presod is cooked, so to speak.
[SPEAKER_01]: In the last episode, Pope directed Peter Waxman to offer logarithms assistance to a Jeep Passaud's head of IT.
[SPEAKER_01]: Waxman told the head of alliance IT that chondicopied himself and escaped, which further spook the remains of Passaud's supporters.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, all kinds of angry people over there right now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Waxman says he can't track gender without an identifying signature that alliance
[SPEAKER_01]: And Pope says, we can't promise we can kill a god until we do, and then vows that the god-killer proof will be demonstrated tomorrow.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the object of said proof is digital David, who is explaining to Matty that he can't simply be reviewed due to the zero-day flaw, which he believes has been coded in to control you guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: David's avatar is attacked and shredded down to its pixels.
[SPEAKER_01]: Lori's programming springs into action, Conjuring a whole version of David's programming and urging him to back up his memory.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cody and Maddie spin out of the network connection, Maddie has shunted back to waking life where Ellen is waiting.
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, yeah, that's she, Maddie's scared, that was freaky.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, for sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... logarithms with what the company hosting david on its servers and physically disconnected the links and waxman believes the digital david had time enough to exit through the gift shop uh... small barred on sea channels his inner gale from breaking bad and mhmix gale's obsession with coffee albeit limited by the resources he has and is icy underground hideaway he's startled by an alert on a satellite phone
[SPEAKER_01]: And on the Hans Pope, the sat phone, that somehow transmits and receives beneath however many meters of snow and metal and bedrock, and Van Lewin, voiced by professional Goon Michael Kelly, informs Pope about the carry situation.
[SPEAKER_00]: Do I do that voice?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Such like the ultimate political Goon guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Always.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hans Goon.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hatch it man.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then for no reason, there was a rattlesnake with eyelashes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Did you guys see that?
[SPEAKER_01]: I did.
[SPEAKER_05]: What?
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know what that was about.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was hoping you'd tell me.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're not like maybe it's a sexy rattlesnake, it can bat its eyelashes.
[SPEAKER_05]: Right, like Minnie Mouse has eyelashes, we're signaling this as a lady snake.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, because maybe it's like to be like Mrs. net.
[SPEAKER_05]: I was thinking about it's to be the mom, Carrie's wife.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: She's like, she's the snake.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm still hung up on Lady Snake and like what a great hair metal band name that would have been.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Carrie steals a car.
[SPEAKER_01]: He does.
[SPEAKER_05]: No shame in his game.
[SPEAKER_05]: He just walks right on.
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... caspian meat to hand out a strip mall coffee house and tells her he is uh... prepared a surprise for and they get into his car and then caspian to hand uh... who's your daddy and what does he do or rather who are you and what's your job and hand it tries to play dumb doesn't look yeah because caspian ratchets up the temp in the hot seat by punching the gas and we've been through the lanes on the highway classic maneuver
[SPEAKER_00]: classic, I'm on his, you don't know what I'm gonna do.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm behind the wheel, I can't let's go.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's that Lee Marvin movie where it's like the in like Flint.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, God, I wish I could remember what it's called right now, where he It's like the lowest stakes like hot seat car interview where he's just Starting and stopping over and over again and seeing the guy in the passenger seat and that's enough for him to start blabbing Yeah, see oh yeah So looking funny.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think I probably sent it to you
[SPEAKER_05]: All right, so this whole thing was weird for me because I was surprised she was scared and then it made sense that she was scared given who she actually is and then I'm thinking really the stakes are this high and they're just using an actress
[SPEAKER_05]: What?
[SPEAKER_05]: I was kind of surprised.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a great point.
[SPEAKER_00]: I, something didn't quite sit right with me there, and that's what it was.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now that you, you know, I mean like, is like, you think that they'd be pulling like a spy, not at all.
[SPEAKER_05]: All right, someone who's trained, like someone, especially for high stress situations.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or just like another true believer in the U.I.
[SPEAKER_01]: club.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we started to get some shades of bodies here with the cults and like the trying to like raise this cult leader thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Definitely shades of the last episode so that we did.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, but also shades of reality with the real stuff that I've learned with the Tescaryl people.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_05]: Which is very religious cult like.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, easily compared to some Christian cults.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so maybe it's that there aren't anyone that age, like when they started to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, like we've seen Carrie and Yeah, there's still the age of invincibility as opposed to the age of starting to consider your mortality.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: And how long has it been since that guy died?
[SPEAKER_05]: Like, if everybody is a certain age.
[SPEAKER_05]: And so maybe they just don't have anybody that's a believer.
[SPEAKER_05]: But you could still get a spy type person.
[SPEAKER_00]: You would think.
[SPEAKER_05]: For something so, like high security,
[SPEAKER_01]: But instead, they got an actor from Hopkins, straight out of NYU, who was cast by a corporation called Candle Street, to participate in which he was told would be a social experiment.
[SPEAKER_01]: She got a million dollar signing bonus and was promised 5 million over the next three years.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Candle Street can call back the cash of Rachel Violet, the NBA, or Rakes the Contract.
[SPEAKER_05]: And you just want to do that because our mom is sick.
[SPEAKER_05]: And I think has cancer and the insurance isn't paying for stuff.
[SPEAKER_05]: And classic, classic way to get somebody under your thumb if they need money for a loved one who's getting screwed by our healthcare system.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then Casper and is able to use that leverage as leverage himself and turn the NDA against logarithms, which is great.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Caspian reliance in parks and in aqueduct beneath an overpass, Rachel tells us a story from mother, Caspian assures Rachel that he won't snitch if she helps him.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Canza Ransom, Caspian ass, canza Ransom, what does my mom know?
[SPEAKER_01]: Rachel says, Renee knows everything, but doesn't share information, and she says that
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Renee knows what Rachel knows, but Rachel has no idea what Renee knows.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Kasfian is, and back at home, is deflecting Renee's inquiries.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and he says he's done with that bullshit UI.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then Renee, you know, kind of on the nose, but for people who need to hear it, they need to hear it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes bad sci-fi turns into real life.
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to 2026, y'all.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Speakative Star Trek.
[SPEAKER_01]: Her name receives a notification on her phone, which she had placed face down in the dining table, more a sign of distrust than this large piece of shit rectangle is uncomfortable in my pocket.
[SPEAKER_01]: And all the more uncomfortable when I look at my notifications so face down, you go.
[SPEAKER_01]: She said she forgot to buy muffins for the PTA meeting and refuses Caspian's offer to drive.
[SPEAKER_01]: So did she get like, it's like an emergency muffins text.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, here do you buy those muffins?
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that what she's trying to pull off?
[SPEAKER_00]: That literally was just trying to pull off.
[UNKNOWN]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: And like, she kind of does sell like the whole, hey, you know, you got to let me be a mom, you got to let me be a grown-up thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: But like, but it's, it's, she needed to not be so sharp before that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, no, you're not driving.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll drive, you know.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like, okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're not really selling this very well.
[SPEAKER_05]: yeah she was very reactionary and obviously they show him picking up on it but then her reasoning was good and you know just as a mom who's been in PTA stuff yes that that should does happen absolutely it's clicks it's can be socially competitive and then oh did
[SPEAKER_05]: And then you, well, and then she's going to go buy him from the store, which deductions, you're not home making it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Great.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Renee calls Rachel from the all foods barking lot, and Rachel is now performing for Renee,
[SPEAKER_01]: Lori is working on a solution for the immediate problem of finding a host for David's UI while simultaneously devising a strategy to address the zero-day flaw from her floating server farm.
[SPEAKER_05]: And, with this phone call that Rachel makes, like, what is she supposed to say?
[SPEAKER_05]: You know, she's getting addressed, she's getting dressed down.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: But like, what kind of details were she looking for from Rachel?
[SPEAKER_05]: Like, that just was weird to me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Especially without filling her end on why she wanted to know anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be easier to brief your UI overlord lady if like,
[SPEAKER_01]: you knew what you were asking for or what you wanted.
[SPEAKER_00]: Renee is kind of coming apart the seams for being a career obsessive cultist person that's been really it seems like pretty good at the job until recently.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's not holding it together very well.
[SPEAKER_01]: things fall apart, the center can't hold.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I've been told.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, she's really on edge and it really seems like, obviously she doesn't like carry, but now that he's gone, it's like, hmm, can you really handle this?
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good point.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he grounded her more in cereal.
[SPEAKER_05]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_05]: She hated him, but he was kind of keeping her in check or keeping her balance in a way.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so then we cut to Maddie and she's demanding that Cody by the necessary equipment to host David locally.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Cody warns them, and then if they come for him, they're coming for you to it.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I loved this.
[SPEAKER_05]: I loved this so much.
[SPEAKER_01]: This, uh, Mr. Robato Montage, but never any cavalcade of deliveries to the Kim residents.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, we get a great song.
[SPEAKER_05]: We get a time-passing progress happening Montage.
[SPEAKER_00]: curious neighbors curious neighbors little lit like little goofs like he's getting pushed down the stairs and like cross by a box her heart like I thought this was hilarious and lyricly this song by sticks here mr. Robato which I remember jamming out in my basement and like pretending like to be sticks and when I was like six but literally this song is like almost almost too spot on
[SPEAKER_01]: like you know it's like it's like really like here's here let this song is about the movie that you're worth a TV show yeah could it could have done with you know maybe a neighbor's point of view song of what's he building in there of course another one what's he building in there
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Maddie enters David's virtual world and finds him tending the fireplace.
[SPEAKER_01]: David thinks her and they embrace.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then it's time to get down to business.
[SPEAKER_01]: They must disable this tracking algorithm and the zero day flaw.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Laurie and David deduce that the information they acquire is not at logarithm the HQ and Palo Alto.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is when Maddie tells the group that Laurie's hacker friend, Cassian, told her about a black site in Norway.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's a Norway.
[SPEAKER_05]: He doesn't really, he doesn't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: Group is non-plused.
[SPEAKER_00]: My note here is, uh, you don't know Paul Walters.
[SPEAKER_00]: makes sense to Steve and maybe not the listeners, but yeah, that was that was in total.
[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know Paul Walter's tone wasn't it growing up definitely was Steve Janiceck was friends with the guy named Paul Walters.
[SPEAKER_00]: I once said I did not know Paul Walters and Steve was just a guest and that's this is the boring story ever.
[SPEAKER_00]: But that was it.
[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know Paul Walters like
[SPEAKER_00]: You're having a good, but if you don't know Paul Walters, it came one of those repeated things.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that was the energy with which she was like, you don't know Caspy and you don't know about Norway, like, in the fucking loop, people.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, me, Bob, you're non-plus, you're befuddled, and Laurie doesn't seem to recognize this name Caspy, and none of them knew about the Norse facilities for sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: and that we see Caspean receive an notification, his spy cans have been triggered.
[SPEAKER_01]: He runs from his classroom to your bathroom stall and selects a live feed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Renee is in her car in the garage on her secret phone talking to Pope.
[SPEAKER_01]: Caspean is shocked to hear that Renee kicked her own ass, lawyer liar style.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_03]: Do you mind?
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Renee Unlocks her glott case for inspection, and her face darkens as the distant score swirls and swirls and swirls.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, she was losing her damn mind on the phone.
[SPEAKER_05]: She's getting all desperate.
[SPEAKER_05]: She hates him.
[SPEAKER_05]: We see this little air in her speech saying like, basically like it's felt like this is her thing, not a we-thing, it's a her thing, not a we-thing.
[SPEAKER_05]: So that definitely indicates some things there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the caspy and it's definitely getting the skinny at this point and getting the full the full story because he's recording all this, right?
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: Such a mind fuck.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the Kims and Lori, meanwhile, and Cody, they drill down on logarithmic black site signals intelligence and settle on Pope's set phone as the weak point.
[SPEAKER_01]: and then Renee does a spot, Reneety.
[SPEAKER_01]: She suggested drive along the five of the 101 for a Santa Barbara run.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha ha ha.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cast me and pushes back a little to keep up appearances with except the offer.
[SPEAKER_01]: Their embrace is more awkward than Maddie hugging Erin her haptic gear.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, both with their eyes open.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: And they both have their suspicious eyes.
[SPEAKER_05]: this whole thing that's coming up everything with like the bricks and the green it's so like they knew who their audience was.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: We're all getting all this nostalgia from like 80s cartoons and yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and in this case, it also demonstrates the difference between David and Laurie, because David is still a UI utilizing a user interface to accelerate some processes while Laurie would feel bogged down by such an interface.
[SPEAKER_05]: He's just like, this is how I do.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so he acts Pope's phone and Laurie directs him to compromise the local network to let her and to let her know when the drivers are down, but there isn't a wireless network for the phone to connect with.
[SPEAKER_05]: This is so much magic.
[SPEAKER_05]: This is David Copperfield ship.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is up to David Kim.
[SPEAKER_01]: Does it dark night Lucius Fox and downloads an application app to post phone, descended an ultrasonic pin to give them an idea of the environment.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then they drains, uh, well, sorry.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, but and like as I watch that, I think about like, oh, this is like,
[SPEAKER_00]: This is just a thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is just a thing they could do.
[SPEAKER_00]: We all have smart phones, and we all have Alexa's, and we all have, you know, not all of us, but a lot of us have these kinds of devices where they could just get the lay of our home, of our workspace at just any given time.
[SPEAKER_04]: Is this real?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is real.
[SPEAKER_04]: Is this real, Steve?
[SPEAKER_01]: Is this a location that can, I don't think it's like phones or they have the correct,
[SPEAKER_01]: apparatus is to do this, to have an echolocation up.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like to map it so well, they're, they're figuring, I mean, I know that they're figuring out, maybe it's not pink, maybe it's not sonic location, things like or like that kind of thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: But I know that,
[SPEAKER_00]: They over the fuck they are Okay, and Steve is the tech guru here.
[SPEAKER_00]: So bear with me unlike this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I read this while taking a dump once on Reddit But I'm taking a dump on Reddit But something something something Wi-Fi being used to basically
[SPEAKER_00]: get a digital read out of spaces using Wi-Fi as a way of getting a geographical, exactly the same kind of like what they're doing with this ping here of getting a layout of the of the like mapping rooms and things like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and like getting a sense of like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: what's in the room that kind of stuff essentially this was something that I don't know if it was MIT or like was Boston or like what it was like some university a year or two would go like basically was like hey we we figured out how to do this and was like oh well fuck you fuck you for figuring out how to do that
[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, so, but right now, see if you're saying, this is probably not happening, right now.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
[SPEAKER_01]: So Pope Sims, Aaron Boy, Ansie, the Charger's phone, but Ansie places it on a charging pad near a laptop.
[SPEAKER_01]: And David thinks he can walk the phone over to LaLapur by manipulating the Neo-Diamian vibration magnets.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he successfully walks the phone, but he doesn't physically connect it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Instead, his stupid echolocation app is somehow able to direct an attenuate soundmose, soundways from a phone output, lacking an attenuator,
[SPEAKER_01]: with a quite recently depleted battery to generate the 150 plus decibels and the 0.5 to 0.1 Newton's required to depress a MacBook key, which sound waves would also vibrate the components beneath past their tolerances.
[SPEAKER_01]: But hey, shut up, so the show can happen.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, as a viewer, I'm like, this is ridiculous.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know any of the things that you just said.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll lie to you, this looks dumb, and I'm not buying this.
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, it was kind of fun in like a, oh, we're going to problem solve something in a McGyverway, but I did kind of take a way, like the method to me took away from all the things that they do do that do do, uh, we are so concerned about.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's one of those moments where it works more in animation.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like if I was watching a movie and I'm like watching a phone, like wiggle and like tap, like I'm like, I'll be left in my ass.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, exactly, it's trying to take that seriously.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll be left in my ass.
[SPEAKER_01]: So David and Laura use this dubious interface to collect and sort data using their unique
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don't don
[SPEAKER_05]: It's great.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's like Indian mom classic.
[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
[SPEAKER_05]: She doesn't think he's wrong.
[SPEAKER_00]: She was great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, a little different though, Chanda.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: It was so sweet.
[SPEAKER_05]: She was like, well, you know, you've always been apart because of your smart and your hardworking, but like, that's okay.
[SPEAKER_05]: Like, we can still fix your mom.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean, to be able to conceive of this scale, it's like orders of magnitude beyond your can, what's happening here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, nothing she could have ever suspected.
[SPEAKER_05]: Of course, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, honestly, Halls down the, uh, Halls asked down that acrylic magneto prison hallway to whisper, we have a breach into Pope's ear, like, uh, W9-11 mean style.
[SPEAKER_00]: So they're reading my pet goat before.
[SPEAKER_05]: What is this for?
[SPEAKER_05]: What is this room for?
[SPEAKER_01]: Not in the show.
[SPEAKER_01]: Usually it's to keep maybe no way from that.
[SPEAKER_05]: Of course, but why?
[SPEAKER_05]: What they just wanted to draw it.
[SPEAKER_05]: Does it have a purpose that I don't know.
[SPEAKER_05]: In the show.
[SPEAKER_05]: What is happening?
[SPEAKER_01]: It could be a.
[SPEAKER_01]: a way to oversee operations, but also speak, uh, without being heard by the right, like whoever else will be in there, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_05]: Why, and they could see what it's like a secure room, like they can't hear us in here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like it can still be quiet.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like in sneakers, a little, the little whisper room, like, oh, yeah, like we that they wouldn't bug this room inside the room.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll go ahead and hear about the conversation because we can only hear the room is bugged.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Pope answers the set phone of Waxman's algorithm registered a service spike in Sacramento.
[SPEAKER_01]: Pope's Gambit is to allow the intrusion to locate the physical hope site.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're on the road to Santa Barbara and Renetel's Caspian.
[SPEAKER_01]: She repacked his bag.
[SPEAKER_00]: to a last-minute Murray M. soundtrack.
[SPEAKER_00]: I should leave it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'll leave it again.
[SPEAKER_05]: This is a good, yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: Good road trip music.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm into it.
[SPEAKER_01]: The cast-been ones, if he's a mini-muffin separation anxiety, Renee also packed the glock and left it for cast-been to find.
[SPEAKER_01]: She hands him a credit card and asked him to pump the cheapest
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he thought it was weird.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cast me and I used the keys and the ignition.
[SPEAKER_01]: It makes us move, leaving Renee in the dust.
[SPEAKER_05]: I was kind of surprised.
[SPEAKER_05]: I was.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was too a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's like, okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't have the stuff that he needed, but I thought it was going to be more like, well, I guess he gets the car that way, or anyways.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, because he knows he doesn't have all of his water and snacks, the case he needs to drive a little situation and get away from her.
[SPEAKER_05]: And that, okay, she's got the
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know, like, when he leaves, it's kind of like, okay, he can't pretend anymore or he, like, but the stakes, maybe we're big enough for him, he's just like, I gotta go.
[SPEAKER_00]: He did need to make the move first while he still could.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Before she cotton down that he knew.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yep, yep, yep.
[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, yeah, let me make sense.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, just like he considered that moment, Ellen is considering her moment.
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... independently generated you eyes constitute a historical hinge point for as she feels helpless and tells Cody to adapt to the new unalterable paradigm Cody is bummed but maddie stoked she sings a little song about how lorian david accessed all the project files we we needed this we needed maddie to do a little dance and saying because because that one was just like just bring in all the reality down on our heads thanks
[SPEAKER_05]: Good lord.
[SPEAKER_01]: A little relief.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: A waxman is directing operators to David's suspected location.
[SPEAKER_01]: A showbiz pizza, or if you're not as old as me, a chucky cheese.
[SPEAKER_05]: Or if you're not as old as that, of Freddy's.
[SPEAKER_05]: I made the Freddy's thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
[SPEAKER_05]: But even that's like a throwback.
[SPEAKER_05]: I think within that world, right?
[SPEAKER_05]: It's a retro within that world.
[SPEAKER_00]: I've never actually seen that.
[SPEAKER_00]: the five minutes at Freddy's?
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it a TV show or a video game?
[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't been now.
[SPEAKER_05]: It started as a video game and now it's been movies, but the setting is like a showbiz pizza type setting.
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: I think it's like, like in the 80s there was a... Yeah, it was Freddy.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's Freddie.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sobis piece.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna go ahead.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm gonna try it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Doin' stuff with the paper.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, they're like killer animatronics though.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, naturally.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's part of the game in the movie.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's really good.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's kind of all I know.
[SPEAKER_05]: There's like a beer and a rabbit and like a chick.
[SPEAKER_00]: There was another movie that did that, too.
[SPEAKER_00]: Before Freddy got finger or whatever the fuck's going on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Proud.
[SPEAKER_00]: Proud.
[SPEAKER_05]: What was the movie?
[SPEAKER_00]: Before five minutes, is it Freddy's?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: Killer animatronics?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's the isn't that they were with Nick Cage?
[SPEAKER_00]: Isn't that what he's doing in that one?
[SPEAKER_00]: Which one?
[SPEAKER_00]: He's the mute.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's called like Willie's Wonderland or something, something Wonderland.
[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody's Wonderland.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like a mute.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's, he's fighting.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's basically that.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_03]: What do you see fighting the killer animatronics?
[SPEAKER_00]: Or is that fucking him?
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, maybe they're on the same side.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, he's fighting him.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's destroying him.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's, that's the stick, uh, and then every now and then you take a break to go play pinball.
[SPEAKER_00]: Literally he's got a stop like every time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Every 20 minutes or like two hours or something.
[SPEAKER_00]: They've got to stop to like go play a pinball machine.
[SPEAKER_05]: Will he just wonder land from 2021 action horror?
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a masterpiece.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you've got to watch it.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, it's such a masterpiece.
[SPEAKER_05]: You forget that one.
[SPEAKER_05]: I'm quite sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not quite sure about the name, but I mean, it's, uh, it's, uh,
[SPEAKER_05]: I enjoy it.
[SPEAKER_05]: Known for us over the top fever dream quality.
[SPEAKER_05]: What?
[SPEAKER_05]: A movie like that, sorry, Nicky.
[SPEAKER_00]: Did we know the top?
[SPEAKER_00]: What?
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe?
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, but me and he was so good.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was very good.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't get me started.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting completely off topic.
[SPEAKER_05]: I know.
[SPEAKER_05]: OK.
[SPEAKER_05]: Wait.
[SPEAKER_05]: Where were we?
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're when Waxman realizes his tracker was spoofed and calls Pope.
[SPEAKER_01]: OK. Oh, dark.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the demand from Pope, and on Sea of Blides, Pope's battery dies again while he barks at Waxman, and Waxman gives his wishfully at a photograph of himself with David and Ellen and Smiles.
[SPEAKER_05]: Right, so did he disable the tracker?
[SPEAKER_05]: Did they actually disable the tracker?
[SPEAKER_05]: Because when he like smiled like that, I was like, wait, is he helping them?
[SPEAKER_01]: versus smiling like you know got me again David that's what I took it as I think I was taking it more is like like David is like I'm losing this one, but that's okay because I like David's still even though this is a lot okay okay and also gazing wistfully the photograph is carry standing there when the casting bus in the door to confront him he asked him for the truth
[SPEAKER_01]: And Carrie says, you haven't been lied to your whole life, your whole life is the lie.
[SPEAKER_05]: Guys, I was so excited about this because, like, I was really proud of myself that I knew it.
[SPEAKER_05]: Like I got this, I was like so excited.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we cut back to Maddie and Lori and David.
[SPEAKER_01]: Florian David now believe this year, or David Flaw was not intentionally constructed by logarithms and that Caspian may be the key to correcting the Flaw that they now refer to as integrity.
[SPEAKER_01]: Kerry tells Caspian that holes from couldn't crack integrity before cancer claimed him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Kerry likenes Holmes' term to Aaron, the brother of Moses, who's forbidden from entering the Promised Land for failing to properly honor Yawid.
[SPEAKER_01]: Caspy and accuses Carrie, sounding like a cult member.
[SPEAKER_01]: Carrie doesn't hesitate to cop to it.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I mean, at least he gets, he owns up to it.
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I guess.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's a little credit to give someone to be like, oh, I know I'm in a cult, but I'm still like, that's worse.
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, yeah, it is worse, but it's showing his, it's a self-awareness and it's like he believes in a that much.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's like, oh, okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just ask a Scientologist.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just know you are loved.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we find out here.
[SPEAKER_01]: Caspian was conceived in a lab.
[SPEAKER_01]: Wonder if he has a belly button.
[SPEAKER_01]: Carrey Jell's Caspian, he is a Messiah and they're crafting his destiny to deliver the true believers to the Promised Land.
[SPEAKER_01]: Carrey describes the effort to recreate Holstrom's hinge points is definitional moments until Caspian how odd he's felt to deceive him for his entire life.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and he says, I love you at some point before this where then that I felt like in retrospect after hearing him talk about what he did and how honored he is, that I love you feels cheap,
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Caspian exits, and then Renee, like, as long to turn as any of the terminators, has made her way to the objective just to find Caspian leaving.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Carrie tells Renee, he's devolves everything to their clone to fake sun.
[SPEAKER_01]: Furthermore, Caspian is not Steven.
[SPEAKER_01]: Can't you see it, Carrie, yes?
[SPEAKER_01]: And Renee plays dumb again.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then here's to her prescribed role.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not surprised.
[SPEAKER_00]: she bought in.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's other than Pope.
[SPEAKER_00]: At this point, it seems to me she's the most villainous, you know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's see.
[SPEAKER_05]: Well, and it was also at this point when we're
[SPEAKER_05]: You know, this weird, now, what the real relationship is between him and Carrie, but then also now, having anything about the relationship between him and his mom, which it seemed like in the past, his mom was with...
[SPEAKER_05]: Steve Jobs is whatever fake Steve Jobs and like in love and like intimate and then she's raising up quote-unquote son That's supposed to be that like that's so fucked up.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so fucked up.
[SPEAKER_00]: So fucked up Yeah, there's some layers to that.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, yeah, many layers
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, real, real dumb sub.
[SPEAKER_05]: Look, it ain't like carry.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's like, it won't be like, you don't love me.
[SPEAKER_05]: You loved him or like you loved what he could maybe do for you.
[SPEAKER_05]: Right.
[SPEAKER_05]: Like, ugh, it's so gross.
[SPEAKER_01]: Truly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And let's see.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Carry Kaspy and her preparing to part and Renee pulls the clock and sends a slug right through carries gut.
[SPEAKER_00]: And you know it's like Kaspy and knows she's not going to shoot him so he's like pretty unaffraid.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then carry I think overplays his hand he thinks like
[SPEAKER_00]: you know she she cares about me some degree we have all this history she won't shoot me and if she really wanted to kill him she would have got him in the head or something she she kind of is that she's not winging to me there um i think it's not a it's not a kill shot you know it's definitely like a kind of in between
[SPEAKER_05]: I feel like she would be a pretty good aim.
[SPEAKER_05]: Like she'd be trained.
[SPEAKER_05]: She wanted to.
[SPEAKER_05]: She would have shot him in the hat or the heart.
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, these PTA meetings, I assume she's like, just, I don't know, drink training.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tons of coffee and snorting coke and then going to shoot guns because she's like, yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: And do like obstacle courses at like Navy Seals would do?
[SPEAKER_00]: Think Linda Hamilton, T2.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: pushing up her caught and then doing pull-ups.
[UNKNOWN]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, René's just trembling is Kasfian helps carry it to the car and Kasfian eyes are, and I think, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're totally right, Rao.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, he realizes René thinks he's the fucking Messiah.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, he's not expecting her to shoot again, but he's still just like, this is, he's crazy.
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know if that point, do you think at that point he realizes that that she also thinks he's the Messiah?
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, I think he's confident that she's not gonna hurt him.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's also that he still views her as his mom.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he says his mom's not gonna hurt me.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a combination of these things.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's right, she's, there's no way in hell she was gonna shoot him.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's the project.
[SPEAKER_01]: 18 years of work or whatever, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, David and Laura, you tell Maddie that Cassian is a clone and lamented holes from his tech wasn't perfected before the consciousnesses were uploaded.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Laura says this kid was his last hope and David says, and now he's ours.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, one last thing that we kind of skipped was when carried and
[SPEAKER_00]: Renee Yoshtivan after them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because that's who.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right, whereas, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that, yeah, that's just says everything, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, like, that's the real reason she didn't suit him.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, right.
[SPEAKER_05]: And it explains her love and motivation.
[SPEAKER_05]: And like, okay, 18 years, yeah, that's,
[SPEAKER_00]: She doesn't view cats.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: As cats be in care, in care is clearly seeing care cats be in something different, but as far as she's concerned, this is just a young Stephen by a different name.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: So like, why, he's gonna grow up and then you're gonna like be with him be with him, girl.
[SPEAKER_05]: Like that's so fucked up, I know him right here.
[SPEAKER_05]: Like, that's also a lot of devotion, right?
[SPEAKER_05]: Like, we have, we have Maddie's mom who was like, okay, it's been two years and I'm learning to like live and I'm gonna move on and then we have the flip side of,
[SPEAKER_05]: this woman who, it's been this long and she's just single-mindedly.
[SPEAKER_05]: She's been living this lie for that long.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's crazy.
[SPEAKER_01]: But now we have a state of affairs that's more apparent than it has been and the causes and consequences are starting to coalesce.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're where the show is going.
[SPEAKER_00]: Not a lot, Chanda, that's episode.
[SPEAKER_05]: We've got more Chanda's mom than Chanda.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: That's okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so he's up to you, and where he is, where he's data is scored.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, hmm, oh yeah, that's a thing I hadn't considered.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it Norway, is it Oregon?
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know, it's not, it's not, it's not Norway because he wouldn't be with the other company.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, it's definitely not Norway.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's not Oregon.
[SPEAKER_05]: Which that was crazy.
[SPEAKER_05]: How did they shut it off?
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, they bought the whole company.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny, it's like their data centers or their core cruxes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I have to or like their Achilles heel to be to go further back in terms of references.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Take it.
[SPEAKER_01]: That too, a guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a guy selling EDM tickets and that was this whole gig.
[SPEAKER_01]: He had this low company sold EDM tickets and then EDM started to get popular and take a master started trying to
[SPEAKER_01]: muscle him out of the biz because they're predicting it's going to be as big as rock music when rock music first hit.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to have to get this guy out of the market so we can have a monopoly on this.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they started pressuring venues and the venues were in budget and they're like, no, this guy's fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then they tried, then they're like, okay, we're not going to send any of our clients to your venues and try to blackmail them into it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And then finally,
[SPEAKER_01]: Take it master, just ended up buying the venues and buying everything related to it, buying the companies that were releasing EDM music, so that they could cut one guy out and he's still in court and he's been supporting himself by going door-to-door selling, like, I don't know what, like, solar panels or something.
[SPEAKER_01]: What was the terrible story?
[SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm just saying that this is a real life example.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, companies will do shit like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they'll do, it's like how Disney will sue the pants off of people for like what anyone else would consider fair use.
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean, yeah, absolutely do, but there's so much.
[SPEAKER_05]: There's just a lot like people put out a lot of Disney stuff that is not theirs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've been saying that they should never sue and stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: They kind of write the other direction is what drove the the great Bill Waterston out of at a business that I've been doing Kelvin House because he got sick of everybody just doing it with the fuck they wanted
[SPEAKER_00]: So we don't like that somewhere.
[SPEAKER_05]: I don't want to seek help in peeing on things.
[SPEAKER_00]: I am.
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is that cool?
[SPEAKER_00]: Disapproved.
[SPEAKER_05]: Disapproved.
[SPEAKER_05]: Um, and then we didn't get to the very end.
[SPEAKER_05]: Did we because then they say something about buying a data area that's on a boat or on a boat?
[SPEAKER_05]: Because they're like, well, nowhere is safe.
[SPEAKER_05]: There's nowhere to, there's nowhere for you guys to be safe.
[SPEAKER_05]: But they might have a better shot if they're on a boat that's just like traveling the world.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what were you?
[SPEAKER_00]: Is that what Lori's doing?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she's on a boat.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's where her server farm is.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I swear if I realize that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure it was, there's a lot happening in the show.
[SPEAKER_00]: Some of it goes on.
[SPEAKER_05]: Is that what that end was?
[SPEAKER_05]: Let me say that's where she was for sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I think the end was them suggesting that maybe they should get David about to.
[SPEAKER_05]: Oh, okay.
[SPEAKER_05]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_05]: I didn't remember them saying that Lori was on a boat, but there was a lot of action.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember saying what episode we were on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Did I say that?
[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't.
[SPEAKER_01]: This has been season one episode five of zero days.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I forgot to say that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Which, by the way, since everything got fucked up and weeks got messed up, I watched episode six today, right before this episode, because I forgot.
[SPEAKER_00]: He hadn't actually had the conversation about this episode, even though I watched it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Whoa, try this.
[SPEAKER_05]: I really messed up.
[SPEAKER_05]: Man.
[SPEAKER_05]: Well, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_05]: It just feels like a downer conversation because there was definitely some heavy topics.
[SPEAKER_05]: But I did like the balance of it.
[SPEAKER_05]: You know, we got the cool montage.
[SPEAKER_05]: We got like the throwback animation style.
[SPEAKER_05]: So that was really cool.
[SPEAKER_05]: That they were kind of balancing it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we're right about in the middle of the season, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: There's eight episodes, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: It definitely felt like, okay, things are shifting now, we're like getting into the back end of the story.
[SPEAKER_00]: They felt like a lot of stuff up before.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's like, okay, the mudslide has happening or whatever.
[SPEAKER_00]: Things are going to start coming down real quick.
[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like.
[SPEAKER_05]: It's starting to go down.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: The rug really tied the room together.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to room together, man.
[SPEAKER_05]: Stuff is stuff is happening.
[SPEAKER_00]: Nice Marmett.
[SPEAKER_05]: Fucking eagles.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's down.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's somewhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let me take another look.
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, next week we'll
[SPEAKER_00]: And it will be next week, I'm sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll have, what is the next episode called?
[SPEAKER_00]: I, I don't know what I just watched earlier today.
[SPEAKER_00]: You must be caspy in episode six is called.
[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
[SPEAKER_00]: So email us if you want to discuss it with us.
[SPEAKER_00]: Do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: What's the name of our, okay, small screen sessions at gmail.com?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the one.
[SPEAKER_05]: Well, so when you get to this point, I know our faithful listener Joe is a few episodes behind, but that's not pretty shit, because it's uncomfortable.
[SPEAKER_05]: Right, it is.
[SPEAKER_05]: I've had these doom scary moments.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_05]: Especially when Maddie's mom just came at me full force.
[SPEAKER_00]: Jeez.
[SPEAKER_00]: Jeez.
[SPEAKER_00]: the dark enlightenment and Curtis Yarvan know that kind of stuff.
[SPEAKER_00]: We were doing like a news day.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I forget what prompted a peer teal being in the news.
[SPEAKER_00]: I guess is what it was and like and I don't do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was like a headline about him like doing his fucking stick, his anti-crash stick.
[SPEAKER_00]: And as I go, hey, uh,
[SPEAKER_00]: You guys don't appear, Taylor.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let me tell you about Pound here.
[SPEAKER_00]: There was just kind of spiral out from there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh,
[SPEAKER_05]: I mean the first time, yeah, but if that was like the first time really getting an overview, they're going to be a little glazed over and like of course.
[SPEAKER_00]: Really, what's the point?
[SPEAKER_00]: Because it's a lot, it's a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the show.
[SPEAKER_05]: Maybe you go like, you're Mr. Roy.
[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, it does.
[SPEAKER_05]: It absolutely does.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, on the end note, I think we'll close it out here.
[SPEAKER_05]: Who pulls it out?
[SPEAKER_05]: Stay human, everyone.
[SPEAKER_01]: and a cloud will bring us back next week.
