[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, welcome to Small Screen Sessions.
[SPEAKER_04]: I am Travis, one of your hosts.
[SPEAKER_04]: I am leading the charts today because we're going into a TV show that I picked X-Men 97.
[SPEAKER_04]: I am here with City Eve.
[SPEAKER_04]: Go.
[SPEAKER_04]: And Amanda.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, hello.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's three hello's from two people.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, three, if you can't me, am I said hello to me?
[SPEAKER_04]: I said something.
[SPEAKER_04]: I greeted you anyway.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you said something.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, here we are.
[SPEAKER_04]: We are here to talk about X ben 97's third episode.
[SPEAKER_04]: The three of us are the episode is called fire from flash fire made flat.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, something about flash and fire.
[SPEAKER_04]: Fine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sounds like you're Martin.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is your turn, Steven, for trivia.
[SPEAKER_04]: We have no.
[SPEAKER_04]: emails today.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you want to email us, you could harass us or harass us or send us nice things and questions if you want to at small screen sessions at gmail.com.
[SPEAKER_04]: But since we don't have any emails, what's quiz?
[SPEAKER_04]: Quiz it up.
[SPEAKER_04]: Where's the red?
[SPEAKER_01]: Where's it?
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's a funny in the episode where more says, and then there's more.
[SPEAKER_01]: Old-haired, mod, too many cooks edition styles.
[SPEAKER_01]: So that's where we're going with the trivia today.
[SPEAKER_01]: Perfect.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you some of the theme song, and you just got a name the TV show.
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess extra points of you can name the artist.
[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, you're going to do lyrics?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: From a TV theme song, and we name the show.
[SPEAKER_00]: OK. That's right.
[SPEAKER_01]: OK. That's fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: First off, well, we're moving on up to the e-suffercons.
[SPEAKER_01]: Deficence.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's easy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the only one I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: But Jeff Barry and Jean-Adubois.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's another one.
[SPEAKER_01]: When you walk through the garden, you don't watch your back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I beg you, parting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Walk the straight and narrow train.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that's the wire.
[SPEAKER_01]: Got it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't wait to know the artist.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: At least season 1, I think they have different people do this song.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it was always his lyrics.
[SPEAKER_04]: There's always his song.
[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, they start doing some covers.
[SPEAKER_04]: So inferior covers.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: Why?
[SPEAKER_01]: Why are you trying to contain with wait?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to happen.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, mistakes were made.
[SPEAKER_04]: mistakes were made, but then you woke up this morning, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got you, got
[SPEAKER_04]: They're all together, who keep the Adams family.
[SPEAKER_01]: Don't expect you to know this one.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was a Vick Mizzy, who was the artist.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no.
[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't didn't have that much.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right on the tip of my tongue, you know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Schlameel, Schlameisel.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hot to feffer incorporated.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we're doing.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're doing, we're
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, with this for pretty easy, you got them all.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I got one, and I said that would be the only one I would get.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, all right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, then let's get into it.
[SPEAKER_04]: So we are in episode three fire made flesh.
[SPEAKER_04]: As we said, we have our fucking rock and intro as we do every episode.
[SPEAKER_04]: I was thinking about it.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's only rival is the intro to Spider-Man, the animated series.
[SPEAKER_04]: If you're not familiar, it is basically like,
[SPEAKER_04]: The same kind of energy is the opening to this, but with way more rock and guitar riffs, so check it out if you'd have familiar with it.
[SPEAKER_00]: What was special about today's intro?
[SPEAKER_00]: Was there anything different in there, Steve?
[SPEAKER_04]: Steve's one that noticed his things.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't notice these things.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I think I did notice something different, but I can't remember what it was now because the way I just like three days ago.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right, sorry.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, forgive me.
[SPEAKER_04]: You all, you all, you all, you all, you all, you all, you all, you all, you all, we've opened where we left off last episode in the X Mansion family room.
[SPEAKER_04]: Beasts has brought medical equipment in to monitor this new second gene grade who passed out at the end of episode two.
[SPEAKER_04]: Our gene grade.
[SPEAKER_04]: Let's call her gene grade number one.
[SPEAKER_04]: She kneels beside the unconscious gene grade number two and takes her hand as the rest of the X-Men look on.
[SPEAKER_04]: Jean-Gray number one looks into the mind of Jean-Gray number two and sees her own memories, but says they seem recent as if all experience yesterday when this new Jean-Gray woke up in some sort of lab and escaped.
[SPEAKER_04]: She'd seen the experiment on TV and had come to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters thinking it was home.
[SPEAKER_04]: So she's a flash of snarling pointed teeth and for fans, for those in the know, there's also a familiar red diamond symbol on parts white flesh foreshadowing fan favorite villain Mr. Semister.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, did you have any?
[SPEAKER_04]: for familiarity of Mr. Sinister before this episode?
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: So certainly didn't know at this point that it was Mr. Sinister.
[SPEAKER_00]: I later in this episode learned about Mr. Sinister because it was very plainly spelled out for me, but I don't know this character, I don't recognize this character.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is Mr. Sinister, Miss Janet, if you're nasty.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you guys know, I mean to this guy, I think this is creepy.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be good.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm into it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Do either of you know the actor who has for over a decade campaign to play this character?
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, interesting, who would want to play Mr. Sinister on- John Hamm?
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, he was like, it could be John Hamm, just based on only knowing the animation from us.
[SPEAKER_04]: Uh, Alec Baldwin.
[SPEAKER_04]: Brian Kranston, Brian Kranston, that'd be awesome.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he should play him.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the one.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's the one.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's the one.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's the one.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's the one.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's the one.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's the one.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's the one.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the one who's the
[SPEAKER_04]: Another student.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Anyway.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, does it's changing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Tatum said that he wants to play gambit.
[SPEAKER_04]: He in fact has played gambit because he can't pay for it for so long that they let him play it in the Deadpool 3.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and you've mentioned it a couple times.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I haven't seen that one.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can see it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Chaining Tatum.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Beast runs gamma ray tests to more or less carbon date both these genes and announces that genome is actually the original gene gray.
[SPEAKER_04]: Our gene is a clone, Magneto, in terms with big this place is a tomb energy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's get to why it's real fast.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: uh... my favorite though is beast like a tool reassuring jingering number one question mark uh... that the science is sound is if that will be the comforting thing for her to learn uh... not that you're a clone like that's that don't be bothered that you're learning over the science is good
[SPEAKER_00]: And everybody just kind of stands there.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's looking for allies and she's like, Scott, and he just doesn't say anything.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like Jesus, people.
[SPEAKER_00]: Magneto when he can dance.
[SPEAKER_01]: He can dance.
[SPEAKER_01]: He can dance.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Magneto got a warmer welcome.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it says a lot about their faith and beast in his abilities.
[SPEAKER_04]: There are like, well, D says, I guess this is it.
[SPEAKER_04]: This is the smartest one of us, so B says it must be true.
[SPEAKER_01]: He says, B says, B says, which faith in himself is the rest of them do you think?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, it's like, I'm pretty much infallible when it comes to science.
[SPEAKER_04]: which if you follow the comics, this leads him to some dark places later on in his existence.
[SPEAKER_04]: But here he's still like the most trustworthy of them in a lot of ways too.
[SPEAKER_04]: So they just, and they just like they believe it.
[SPEAKER_04]: And she is pissed.
[SPEAKER_04]: She takes her son and says storm would have believed me and you know, stomps out.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the other thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: You don't know who this person is and you let her leave with the baby with the fuck Scott.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, that's the thing though.
[SPEAKER_04]: He knows that this person gave birth to his son.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I guess he doesn't really know if it like maybe there was a switch like today or yesterday or something.
[SPEAKER_04]: And Nathan's room this cloned Jean and Scott talk more and she reminds him that nothing could change that she and Scott are his parents.
[SPEAKER_04]: Nathan's parents.
[SPEAKER_04]: He says he doesn't know what to believe and she tells him to leave.
[SPEAKER_04]: And she contemplates right in a way like she has all fucking season all three episodes with Nathan when the strange voice calls for her over her baby monitor.
[SPEAKER_00]: Creepy baby monitor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's up to a good
[SPEAKER_01]: You ever pick up communications that weren't from your baby on the baby monitor or mid-up?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_01]: The cross-beginals of the neighborhood.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's my, like, it's a thing in media, because it is baby monitors a creepy.
[SPEAKER_04]: It happens.
[SPEAKER_04]: Beast in Bishop discussed trying to send Bishop back to the future.
[SPEAKER_04]: Allah, Doc Brown, Allah, some foreshadowing when Beast announces that he has discovered a signature on one of the clone gene cells.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, my stars and gardeners, it's Mr. Sinister.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, though all of my stars and garters was awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: This catchphrase from the old TV show.
[SPEAKER_04]: I really see why they went with the Kelsey grammar to play him in the live action.
[SPEAKER_04]: Who else could say something like, oh, my stars and garters and have you believe that they mean it?
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Besides this guy.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, say the story appears in the Cloned Jeans Room and tells her to join him, but also talks through the baby monitor.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: That he cloned her to get her pregnant.
[SPEAKER_04]: He tells her that he cloned her to get her pregnant with Scott's child.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he tells her that she has no choice.
[SPEAKER_04]: He owns her every gene and he activates a red dime of that he placed in her mind.
[SPEAKER_04]: She goes all purple and green, like Barney rocking out to dinosaur junior in 1997.
[SPEAKER_04]: Let's go with Smashy Smashy and all the X-Men stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: She whips up some sexy new Black Lounds are a supervillain outfit to wear and exclaims that they presumably the X-Men will know her inferno.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, she had a bug.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a main gene.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, she busts into the special drawer.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, she only gets that stuff out, like, maybe wants to voice a year for Scott, when Scott, like, begs her to be like, a dominatrix, but she went straight to that stuff.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, I don't know if you're aware of this Amanda, but there's a,
[SPEAKER_04]: bit of a history with some hyper sexualization of the female characters in the X-Men universe.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just a little bit.
[SPEAKER_04]: I do mean hyper sexualization.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I don't think it's great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it really?
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I don't think that it's been.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, no, I mean in their history, I mean, okay, and this is not so bad, but like you're still going to get what you get in the comics or like you're still going to get like the super sexy thigh high like mid, you know, these things, you know, like because that's that's the kind of shit that they rock all the women characters and next men virtually from the same era that we're, you know, from the same era
[SPEAKER_00]: I was kind of bombed, like, let's have a hero.
[SPEAKER_00]: Also, like, she's a villain, and then that's when it gets to be the super sexy, like black sext up vampy.
[SPEAKER_00]: That only goes with a villain, lady.
[SPEAKER_04]: Wow.
[SPEAKER_04]: We do see a glimpse of magic in this episode and while we don't see her in her regular costume, her regular costume is about the same, and she's a hero.
[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is my equal opportunity.
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't always make the hyper-sexualized woman of villain, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you're totally right.
[SPEAKER_04]: You're totally right.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, just because she's showing a little skin, you know what I mean, that she has to be a bad person.
[SPEAKER_04]: But you know what?
[SPEAKER_04]: She's not.
[SPEAKER_04]: She's only bad here.
[SPEAKER_04]: She's already immediately bad, but it's only because there's this diamond thing that's sinister and aggravated.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of controlling her.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's another, I guess, yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: It is.
[SPEAKER_00]: The man's controlling her.
[SPEAKER_00]: So then that's when she goes for the sex up down in a trick slosh.
[SPEAKER_04]: Go figure.
[SPEAKER_04]: So a bit more if in Logan Emerds from the danger room and more of notes that Rog and Magneto have booked the danger room for some time.
[SPEAKER_04]: In city room they will be boning in there.
[SPEAKER_04]: It was so funny.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they've got a reserve done easy mode for some afternoon delights, but you got to know that Rogue is still in danger of having a black but they're blown out in there and some additional white streaks in there here from a perplighted monster.
[SPEAKER_04]: You can see those two fucking, like, while they're fighting real people, like, yeah, that's just fucking kill at the same time.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll read and run off to Huffa Jean and then there's more than there's more.
[SPEAKER_04]: Creepy business starts up all of a sudden with more of Gambit and Jubilee and the soon-to-be-dub Sunspot all being fucked with in different ways Roberto asks Jubilee if he sees a character on TV making eye contact with him and leering is Morph checks out the steamy and hot shower that came on behind him
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this is all telling right for each character like what they're seeing like their fear in their shame.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this is good.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's exactly it.
[SPEAKER_04]: They're getting at the worst of them.
[SPEAKER_04]: So they yeah, they think it's Logan's slick sensually inviting man body in the shower, but it's Logan's voice that they hear, but it's tempered with sinister's growl.
[SPEAKER_04]: You think I don't know is if we all don't know,
[SPEAKER_04]: And so it's like in case there was any doubt how more feels about Logan, we all definitely know now in the viewer.
[SPEAKER_04]: Gambit enters Xavier's study in season horror that Magneto and Rogue have gone full climax of the 1980s horror movie society and are fused together in a sick, melty, fleshy, embrace.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of like society meets troll two because there's like this wizzy kind of forest crap.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I didn't understand the woodsy plants thing and I think that that went with either of them.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it goes with goblin queen.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: What's they've kind of like, yeah, they're trying to make her, she's a pretty out there character in some ways.
[SPEAKER_04]: Anyways, so a monster crawls out of the TV to attack Roberto and Jubilee, twisting itself in a Roberto's mother and looking like a Robotene creation.
[SPEAKER_04]: Not again, Christ Morphe, as he sees Logan, is in fact Mr. Sinister.
[SPEAKER_04]: Cyclops and Bishop are captured by some tentacle thing and monstrous versions of Xavier and Bishop's old teammate, Mach, and shame them.
[SPEAKER_04]: Dubilee blows up their monster with fireworks, as Beast makes drool quips at the giant fish thing waiting for him in the elevator.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was very spirited away.
[SPEAKER_00]: Reminded me of the lady with the head and spirited away.
[SPEAKER_04]: Just thinking that it's exactly like spirited away.
[SPEAKER_04]: I wonder if it's an intentional reference.
[SPEAKER_04]: I wouldn't be surprised.
[SPEAKER_00]: I felt like they were because then like the thing that came out of the TV was very like what's the horror movie with the girl that comes out of the TV.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the ring, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: It looked kind of like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: There was a shot like with the arms and the hair.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but I wrote Rob boutique is it made me think of the thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: Or actually it kind of made me think of in the mouth of madness.
[SPEAKER_04]: The women's walking like kind of, you know,
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't think so, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's on your list, no, so One by one the X-Men find one another and as more of observes they are in hell Literally demons and turning lakes of fires around them Scott says that it's not Mr. Sinister doing this to them, but Jeff or the clone
[SPEAKER_04]: Scott, supercharges bishop with an energy blast that he uses to take out the goblins of demons.
[SPEAKER_04]: You're welcome.
[SPEAKER_04]: They say in Unison.
[SPEAKER_01]: And a giant, go ahead.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, leave it to a bishop to exercise the demons.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you're gonna go.
[SPEAKER_04]: There you go.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is that when he got Scott like supercharged him up?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: He had this myth, the mass of losers.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he just toasted everybody.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that was so cool.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yep, he has an exerciseism.
[SPEAKER_04]: And as I'm watching it, I'm like, this, like, why can't Scott just do this?
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, do Scott's get, Scott's powers get magnified going through bishop, because I've never really known that to be the case.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: But, uh, it looked like it was just cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: We think of looking at the power scaling subreddit later.
[SPEAKER_04]: There we go.
[SPEAKER_04]: A giant black cauldron-looking motherfucker of a Sentinel appears, then the real G-ingray, still in her hospital around, Enzi illusion and brings the X-Men back to reality.
[SPEAKER_04]: The clone gene, who at this point, I will start referring to as her character's true name, Madeline prior, laughs, and looks sexy, and suddenly has a kind of British accent.
[SPEAKER_04]: Scott tells her that she's being controlled by Mr. Sinister and that she doesn't have to do this.
[SPEAKER_04]: She announces her new identity as the goblin queen and takes off with Nathan stopping Scott from following.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so I'll say I could think about it was Labyrinth, the goblin king and the baby.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was like what?
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think you'd think.
[SPEAKER_00]: My me the babe.
[SPEAKER_00]: What babe?
[SPEAKER_00]: The babe with the power.
[SPEAKER_00]: What power?
[SPEAKER_00]: I could go on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Powerful to who do you would remember the baby?
[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't put him in stripes though.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, little baby could have been in stripes.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's been having little red and white stripes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Later, the X-Men nursed their wounds from Tustlin with even one cloned gene gray.
[SPEAKER_04]: could take on all the X-Men.
[SPEAKER_04]: Scott tells Magneto and the rest of the X-Men why sinister sent the clone to get his son, and more flaunts his end to Mr. Sinister's background.
[SPEAKER_04]: He is a scientist from the 19th century who learned how to extend his life by experimenting on the genes of mutants.
[SPEAKER_04]: They can even take away their will, they say, and revert to the default face they had in the original X-Men the animated series.
[SPEAKER_04]: I should know.
[SPEAKER_04]: Mr.
[SPEAKER_04]: Senator, have brought, can we just get the, sorry, Mr.
[SPEAKER_04]: Senator, have brought more back to life than mine control them to turn them against the rest of the X-Men in the original animated series.
[SPEAKER_00]: that was kind of what I wanted to ask.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then, but also, I'm like, oh, no.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no more.
[SPEAKER_00]: So this is what it's making me think.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, Morph was with Mr. Sinister.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was his like, twink bottom.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Mr. Sinister was very controlling and abusive.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it was just really bad.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a bad relationship.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel that's for Morph.
[SPEAKER_04]: there was never any voluntary part of it for more that I recall.
[SPEAKER_04]: It was all mine control.
[SPEAKER_00]: And okay, so worse.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and he's used against the X-Men.
[SPEAKER_04]: uh, in the, in the earlier series, but you know, we don't, you don't have to know that, but it's alluded to and you kind of get that, you kind of get, you know, you kind of picked up on it, right Amanda?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and so, but I guess what I did want to ask was how long, how long was that?
[SPEAKER_00]: What that was like, are you guys using?
[SPEAKER_00]: Assuming that's then how long the gene, it was fake gene or clone dream?
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, so you're asking how long
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, how could when was morph?
[SPEAKER_00]: No, well, yeah, because I thought maybe Mr.
[SPEAKER_00]: Senator was in the animated show and they had a big thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then that was when Jean was swapped, maybe.
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't know?
[SPEAKER_00]: OK, so we don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: Or I'm just not supposed to know yet.
[SPEAKER_04]: I understand, I don't think we find out at least in this season.
[SPEAKER_04]: OK.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, he's shaking his head.
[SPEAKER_04]: You're a proctor.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just know it was like, um, I'm just trying to quite before a beer on mute.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with that.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm not did.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was so glad my keyboard is waterproof.
[UNKNOWN]: Oh, no.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, no.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm cheese.
[SPEAKER_04]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just didn't know if having seen the animated series, it's an obvious answer for someone who's seen the animated series.
[SPEAKER_00]: that this is a continuation of.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, guess that's not the case though.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's something that happened, but like, you know, it was so long ago.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Who could be expected to remember every little bit of it?
[SPEAKER_04]: And I've even watched it recently.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I and I remember that, but it's not like I remember it well.
[SPEAKER_04]: I had to remind myself when I had like, look into it for this episode.
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I remember this happened, but I couldn't remember the details of it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm glad.
[SPEAKER_04]: uh... jean struggles to to deal with the invasion of voices in her mind weak against her own powers and make me to states that it is time to strike back against mr. sinister and more knows the way to his sinister place as he's got this big syringe like what is he shooting her up with what are you doing based uh... i think i'm going to look at her jeans with this syringe
[SPEAKER_01]: James James.
[SPEAKER_01]: James James.
[SPEAKER_01]: Galvan clean, mean, James.
[SPEAKER_04]: Mr. sinister and his sinister place is being seriously sinister.
[SPEAKER_04]: He holds the baby Nathan above some bubbly and green concoction ominously.
[SPEAKER_04]: Then just kind of plunks him and monologue in his master plan to make a new breed of perfect creations.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he's just like, he put this baby on the baby.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a drown the baby.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he's just pops him into one of them basement green water tanks from bodies.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: These things really pop up in a lot of like cinnamon TV shows, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, yeah, it's a real trope because you think they can also.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you think they sell that fucking Costco or something.
[SPEAKER_04]: His sinister place is an abandoned church and as the X-Men enter, more freemines them that as they had once been, the goblin queen is not in control of her own actions.
[SPEAKER_04]: She laughs and shows a little leg appearing in the darkness.
[SPEAKER_04]: She takes out Cyclops with ease and then after more of has morphed into the Russian mutant known as magic, she takes control of his mind, her, her, her, her, her mind.
[SPEAKER_01]: Once again, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're Scott liked it when mommy
[SPEAKER_00]: like he's he's kind of pretending he doesn't like it.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Scott would probably be a bottom, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: He was like, he's like the Alpha dude and like the, you know, and the team.
[SPEAKER_04]: So it makes sense that he he need to be like a,
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's a bad little boy in the bedroom, but he's an insecure alpha leader for the X-Men right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he really needs that.
[SPEAKER_00]: He needs to let that's how he's got to let loose.
[SPEAKER_01]: He needs a spanking.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But a bad boy Scott.
[SPEAKER_04]: Magneto now working for
[SPEAKER_04]: Madeline takes on Bishop while Magneto takes on Madeline, but she slices him up with broken staying glass telling that he's a villain playing at hero.
[SPEAKER_04]: Cyclops makes her bleed and then immediately apologizes like a gentleman and she takes over his mind kissing him.
[SPEAKER_04]: You'll bleed too darling, she says, and he, you know, comes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, wow, you know, there's that close-up of her like swiping the blood on our lips before she kisses him and like, oh, all of this like dark erotic guy with the X man with seriously gothic overtones.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, there's a lot of hello stuff still going on.
[SPEAKER_04]: Back in home base, Jean is with Beast and Logan fighting the many voices, as Logan tries to help her focus, and filter out the voices so that she can function.
[SPEAKER_04]: He has her read his mind showing her how he feels because he's like, fuck this, scots out.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to imprint while she's just coming back.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to take full advantage of the situation like a fucking creep.
[SPEAKER_04]: Keep going.
[SPEAKER_04]: He says, deeper.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Really?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who does?
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, literally.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's he's tried to revert her back to a version 1.0 of Gene.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he doesn't have her name programming to low Scott.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what he's literally trying like it's obviously we're trying to do it's it's and he's got this look up the smile on this face that you just never see him have.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like it was strange.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was this hopeful.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, like the hope on his face.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was weird.
[SPEAKER_04]: I actually.
[SPEAKER_04]: love this about Logan here not that not generally but the way that it's being treated in this iteration of the character like Logan has always been pretty fucking creepy about Jean like let it go dude she chose Scott let it fucking go and I liked that they're kind of like leaning into that a little bit and they're thinking like this he's not always I mean he's an anti hero so of course he's not always the best guy but like he's not always the best guy yeah they're not
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's not, yeah, it's just not disguised it in a way.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's just, there's just putting it right out there.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, all that to you, she weeps.
[SPEAKER_04]: But then she sees that Scott is in danger and goes to help him without having to take a fucking step.
[SPEAKER_04]: From where she is, she shuts down the goblin queen.
[SPEAKER_04]: This ends now.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what's fucking business?
[SPEAKER_00]: When a woman puts her hair up, let me just say, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: She's got her, she puts her hair in a ponytail.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm ready to fuck shit up.
[SPEAKER_04]: I love that though, because like Beast is like, no, your body gets just like it doesn't look like a matter.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm literally not going anywhere.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_04]: And so she takes Madeline into a place in her mind that looks like space where Madeline claims that she had been the Phoenix, power incarnate, and Jean picks her up at her hand, like a little toy, and shows her some older memories of her meeting Professor Axe for the first time.
[SPEAKER_04]: and note that young Jean is holding the Cyclops stuffed animal, not our Cyclops, but a Cyclops stuffed animal, mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm
[SPEAKER_04]: she says.
[SPEAKER_04]: And she makes it, I think, a pretty good point here.
[SPEAKER_04]: We are, you know, this is, we, there's been so many places that we wrestle with this over identity, but in a lot of ways, we are, what we remember about our lives.
[SPEAKER_04]: And here we have the clone remembering her whole life, and Jean does it.
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's like, well, what's one's Jean?
[SPEAKER_04]: Really?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Smart.
[SPEAKER_04]: I like it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, Madeline tries to attack, but gets swallowed like Jonah by a whale and sees the baby inside with her.
[SPEAKER_04]: Suddenly she's re-experiencing the birth of Nathan, Jane reminds her that she is Jane.
[SPEAKER_04]: Jane, this other woman, Jane, just shows up, I'm sorry.
[SPEAKER_04]: Jane reminds her that Nathan is the living reminder of the love that her clone and Scott have and that no one could take that away from her, which is, you know, higher ground,
[SPEAKER_04]: Madeline Weeps and says it was the best day of her life and with that, Sinister is diamond that had been controlling her shatters, and Jean releases her instantly back to reality, where she grabs Scott for the floor, who must be very confused but doesn't show it, and says let's go save Nathan.
[SPEAKER_00]: whatever, I don't know, I confused at that part.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, who's who?
[SPEAKER_00]: What's going on?
[SPEAKER_00]: Scott's just got.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how long that they were in her mind, but I imagine it wasn't as long as it seemed on the, you know, I mean, like, to Scott, it probably didn't seem as long.
[SPEAKER_04]: Correct.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I thought that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: But he also knows that Jean is like there and like, doing stuff, so he knows how she works.
[SPEAKER_04]: So I guess he's probably like, okay, Jean did her thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: In the green goo, Nathan cries while sinister continues model log in.
[SPEAKER_04]: Scott and Madeline blow holes in the sinister and the tank hold it or so and we once again see that yes, Scott can blow holes in people just not when it matters.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, this prompts Mr. Sinister to call them fools.
[SPEAKER_04]: You have doomed the boy, and he tries to fight them, but there's no match for Madeline.
[SPEAKER_04]: He quotes an English nursery rhyme and slings away into the dark.
[SPEAKER_04]: Instead, as Nathan starts coughing and green scales appear on his body, the beast later goes on to explain is a strain of a techno virus that Sinister had deliberately exposed him to in the hopes of making him invincible, which is all directly from the comics.
[SPEAKER_04]: This is all.
[SPEAKER_04]: This is all legit and it's amazing that they never got to this earlier in the animated series.
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think they were scales because he called it like a techno virus, so I thought it was like No, I don't know what to fight there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Circuit board, looking things, or something like a board.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a technical organic.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's a technical organic, so their techno scales, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't know what to call them.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that was just running with.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the techno pox.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's it, it's technical facts, and it's spreading fast.
[SPEAKER_04]: Beast says they don't have time to combat the virus, and Madeline, I'm instantly asked Bishop if he thinks there's a cure in his future, and he's like, yeah, probably.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's literally saying, like, I know a guy.
[SPEAKER_04]: He literally is like, yeah, he's like, in a nutshell, he says, yeah, probably I know a guy.
[SPEAKER_04]: And she's like, all right, take our son.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's pretty what's how that rolls.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then Scott was just all I'm a bit of a boy Yeah What's your What the fuck He goes off about like Can't let him think I abandoned him And then he's like I can't be a part of this I gotta go in a band in some Well Yeah Yeah
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, well, I'm going to disagree with that.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to say that he relance to Madeline's point that they owe their son the best life and if they really love him and want to give him the best life they can, that means sacrificing them being with him.
[SPEAKER_04]: And so I think that he lets his son go, acknowledging that she's going to be sending him into the future with Bishop.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's not like he's abandoning him when he doesn't know what's going to happen to him.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's saying, okay, send him to the future.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're so worried about your son thinking that you abandoned him, you don't even like say goodbye.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, because then jeans do in this whole lake.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, but he doesn't even think about that.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, like, I mean, like, and it's not Jean, it's Madeleine, but I mean, he doesn't think about that because he's not a psychic, so he's not thinking, oh, I can imprint my love on him.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's just thinks, well, fuck.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like, this kid's not going to remember.
[SPEAKER_00]: The fuck, that's not how it works.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, that kid is like three miles old as I can remember shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's some neuroscience that's starting to disagree with that.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like our body.
[SPEAKER_04]: My son says that people can't shoot lasers out of the right hands, but I mean, that's right.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's fiction.
[SPEAKER_04]: What is it?
[SPEAKER_04]: At night, Madeline uses her powers to plant a message in Nathan's mind that he is loved.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that, remember, you are loved.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that they owe him.
[SPEAKER_04]: and that they owe him the best possible future one without her or Scott in it.
[SPEAKER_04]: They ship kind of, bishop kind of casually like, oh, peace.
[SPEAKER_04]: Takes her into the future.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, like strap on a baby carrier, like a sling or something, like come on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like let's make this baby a little more secure.
[SPEAKER_04]: Grab's Nathan by the skull.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just a quick explanation of, like, oh yeah, my blank only is like enough juice for me and one other person, so Let's say that.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it's like, so the story can happen.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, give me a couple days.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, it looks like it's happening so fast that like the kids are going to die any minute, but like still like it's like you're going to do all this other stuff first like say goodbye and I don't know I don't Isn't he just going to bring the pox?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I guess that they would be exposed to the pox if they have a cure in that time or at least can
[SPEAKER_00]: And then like if it's viral, why aren't the other, like he's coughing on them, what's going on?
[SPEAKER_00]: Why isn't there going to be an outbreak of this techno-pox that has to be, you have to be dunked in the pox to really get it.
[SPEAKER_04]: You got to get it in all your pores.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, it's not like measles.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like measles.
[SPEAKER_04]: You have to be soaked in the juice.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, breathe the juice in your lungs.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I was telling my brother, Judd, who's written it in the show a few times, because he listens to us.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's one of our regular listeners.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he was kind of a little resistant to watching X-Men 97, because he felt like he was a Saturday more in cartoon.
[SPEAKER_04]: And there are times that, yeah, yeah, it's very much a Saturday more in cartoon.
[SPEAKER_00]: But it's fucking fun.
[SPEAKER_04]: But it's fucking fun.
[SPEAKER_04]: Madeline goes to hit the road, but Jean stops her.
[SPEAKER_04]: But Madeline is wanted to go for some time and she knows that Jean knows this.
[SPEAKER_04]: They don't know when they were switched, which one of them married Scott, but Madeline knows that she can make her own future.
[SPEAKER_04]: Farewell, Jean, Jean, says to which Madeline replies, call me Madeline prior, as if she just plucked that name out of her but what ever.
[SPEAKER_04]: Scott and Jean are finally alone in their devastated bedroom with a lot of space between them and a lot of silence.
[SPEAKER_04]: Where to begin to rebuild?
[SPEAKER_04]: What do you say?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not feeling that great.
[SPEAKER_04]: You get drunk.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, this is awkward, right?
[SPEAKER_04]: Let's just get drunk.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Why not this thing?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: The someone does.
[SPEAKER_01]: He drinks and let's get you pregnant again.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, right.
[SPEAKER_04]: Storm drinks.
[SPEAKER_04]: She and her Mohawk are sipping on a beer in a dive bar.
[SPEAKER_04]: When I fell out with a ponytail, sits next to her and comments that it would be nice if someone could make it rain.
[SPEAKER_04]: She doesn't have time for his bullshit and says, speak plainly and identify yourself.
[SPEAKER_04]: The name's Forge Storm and old friend of Charles Xavier.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'd like to help you get back what you lost.
[SPEAKER_04]: cut to credits or and roll credits it's over.
[SPEAKER_04]: And that's how it ends.
[SPEAKER_01]: How how stoked were you when you saw Ford show up the first time you watched X 1997?
[SPEAKER_04]: Ford's was like, I don't remember him being in the animated series here.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's my animated series at all.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think he was.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he was like, I got a poster with him on it on my wall, you know, he was one of my, one of my favorites that was like of the, the lesser known ones, you know what I mean, like the ones that were obvious guys he was one of my favorites.
[SPEAKER_04]: I've always had white guilt, even as a young guy.
[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, anyone was like a person of color, like that guy's my favorite.
[SPEAKER_04]: Because she's not like the rest of the group.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know how to do that.
[SPEAKER_04]: So if you had facial hair or were like a Native American, I'd be like, okay, you got a ponytail.
[SPEAKER_04]: I believe you're a Native American dude forage.
[SPEAKER_04]: I always thought maybe he's just a Native American.
[SPEAKER_04]: I think he's a Native American, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, is he's Spanish?
[SPEAKER_04]: Most people, you seem really confident about that.
[SPEAKER_04]: And I had to pull that somewhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: Almost positive.
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
[SPEAKER_01]: Look double check, I guess, but it sounds right to me.
[SPEAKER_04]: Maybe a mixed race, like Hispanic Native American, something.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: um who I feel like this is going to be a thing like this could be a segment at the end of every show for this season as uh name for me some of the other people that Morph was like who was the person who looked like at the Indian goddess with all the hands Morph turned into that person when he was like okay when he was
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't remember him, so with a lot of hands is spiral, but this episode I thought I was last episode.
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he said something like, oh, if you put your hands up for this or whatever.
[SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, maybe I missed it, but spiral is the character.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then in the fight, the blonde lady.
[SPEAKER_00]: That was magic.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's magic.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's magic.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: That is classic sister.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Hence the largest forges a shy and medicine man Okay, I really realize on technology rather than mysticism That's that's a rich deep history that he's instantly more interesting to me Techno Shaman
[SPEAKER_04]: Can you heal techno virus?
[SPEAKER_04]: I know, like we've said some of the future for no good reason.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[SPEAKER_04]: See it's talked to forage.
[SPEAKER_00]: Shoot.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can cure the techno pox and then that's a connection because of like native American and pox.
[SPEAKER_04]: But hey, the pox thing is our thing.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, we did, but that's not canon.
[SPEAKER_04]: We just started calling the techno pox.
[SPEAKER_02]: That's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's also a V at Nambet, so he probably killed a bunch of babies.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I don't think so.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's assumed that about every V at Nambet.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think so.
[SPEAKER_01]: They all did a me like in Eli.
[SPEAKER_04]: A me like.
[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, well, yeah, and me like sure, but I mean,
[SPEAKER_04]: Is that part of his history?
[SPEAKER_04]: By the way, this hero was at the top of his history.
[SPEAKER_04]: And he wasn't the guy in the chopper.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no.
[SPEAKER_04]: He got to be the guy in the chopper if you're at me lie.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you did invent a Polynesian orange.
[SPEAKER_04]: In accord to X-Men lore.
[SPEAKER_04]: No, okay, that wouldn't have surprised me.
[SPEAKER_04]: Here, the possibilities about this episode that we need to address before we let our people go.
[SPEAKER_04]: So, this week.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sorry, I left my phone on my desk because it just buzzed and I hope that heard that because I didn't have to ask as I rethink it's my phone.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I always hate that on podcast, too.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's never my phone, but I'm always like you can just move your phone For their accordion, but it happens.
[SPEAKER_04]: You know my phone's right here.
[SPEAKER_04]: You're done.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm done But my phone has been on every kind of silent for as long as it's as long as cell phones have existed My my shit is it doesn't vibrate it doesn't flash as it make noise It's I don't want it.
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to do fucking anything unless I'm addressing it
[SPEAKER_04]: to speak and spoken to you exactly if someone trying to get a hold of me I'll find out after the fact I'll call him back.
[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, is that an amonyville horror t-shirt?
[SPEAKER_04]: I am wearing an amonyville horror t-shirt.
[SPEAKER_04]: None.
[SPEAKER_04]: Nice andst.
[SPEAKER_04]: That's pretty fun.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: If anyone's listening, it's like, uh,
[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's what you'd expect.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a tree.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a house.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: It's not.
[SPEAKER_00]: No words.
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_04]: James Brolin's face or anything.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I think that's about it.
[SPEAKER_04]: We got through that one kind of quick today, I guess, but Steve didn't speak.
[SPEAKER_04]: So that cut things down by about a third.
[SPEAKER_04]: I didn't serve you, and I made sex jokes.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just kidding.
[SPEAKER_04]: You were a little extra quiet this time, but maybe you just had less to say.
[SPEAKER_04]: Or unless there's baseball going on.
[SPEAKER_04]: Is there baseball going on?
[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: I only have one fantasy player in this game, so it doesn't matter.
[SPEAKER_04]: I'll watch for this three-celled, you know, this three-celled.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right, well, if you want to email us about X-Men or baseball or sex jokes or whatever, our email is small screen sessions at gmail.com.
[SPEAKER_04]: We do have social media that we don't monitor, so I can stop.
[SPEAKER_04]: Work on that.
[SPEAKER_04]: Mentioning that.
[SPEAKER_04]: I forgot up by instinct and I'm like, oh yeah, we don't actually do that.
[SPEAKER_00]: But you've never mentioned it until like the last episode.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no, but it's still, it's still, uh, you know, it's something I mean to do, but don't actually do it and I want to know, it's one of the programming from 1993-94, I'm like, oh, this is what I do at the end of the podcast episode.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want people to email me, us, like your favorite character, your favorite X-Men character.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you were in X-Men as a kid, what was the character you idolized as a kid?
[SPEAKER_00]: Has that changed as an adult?
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like this is such a cool thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: You can learn a lot about people.
[SPEAKER_04]: Who were yours, Steve?
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think as a kid, I was being on Wolverine.
[SPEAKER_01]: I liked his tortured melodrama guy.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: He would regenerate and slice things.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was pretty cool.
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I liked all of them, including him.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I had, like,
[SPEAKER_01]: I went way deep in action figures.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I was mowing lawns, I was doing whatever I could to get those action figures.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was babysitting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I think in the day when you could babysit people, when you were like 12.
[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, take care of my baby for a few hours, 12-year-old.
[SPEAKER_04]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks.
[SPEAKER_01]: Sweet.
[SPEAKER_04]: Got toys to buy.
[SPEAKER_04]: Little, literal toys.
[SPEAKER_00]: It seems to me collecting.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's still getting to it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Collectors, items, collector figures.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, they were toys.
[SPEAKER_01]: I did not leave them in the box room.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was playing with it as in 12.
[SPEAKER_00]: Nice.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, in the winter, I'd make diorama's in the snow with food coloring for blood, so.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh my god, that's awesome.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I would go nuts with those things.
[SPEAKER_01]: And while I was watching, you know, I've didn't invent little stories in my head.
[SPEAKER_01]: I had to.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is zip line that went up two flights of stairs and like wrapped around them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I would set up a character to get kicked at the bottom and then chase the action figure down the stairs as it went down the zip line.
[SPEAKER_01]: And like, I went through two to three Wolverines doing that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Turns out the toys do not regenerate.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no.
[SPEAKER_04]: My favorites were always, uh,
[SPEAKER_04]: Cyclops and Colossus as I got older.
[SPEAKER_04]: I got more into beast.
[SPEAKER_04]: He's kind of my guy now But I was really into like the the goody two shoes guys for some reason.
[SPEAKER_04]: Those were like my guy But I think it was more focused on yeah as a kid, but I think I was more focused on their powers than anything about their personalities I was just like I liked it.
[SPEAKER_04]: Scott
[SPEAKER_04]: had to exercise restraint with his eyes.
[SPEAKER_04]: I like that, like they hit.
[SPEAKER_04]: So it was always like, I understand his control, his knee for control because it was always about, like if you'd like go, control it and kill everybody.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's why his fun, happy time is being about him.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, given up control, I would make first.
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: and uh... so i was like him and are we and then when it came to classes like i don't even know if i really realized what a goody goody was until i got older i was more just like that guy turns into metal that's cool yeah he looks cool he's stuff he's real strong
[SPEAKER_00]: In the movie, he was in a, and like, he was big and strong and helping the little kids escape.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I was like, I like that guy.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's a sweetie.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, they stripped him of his personality in the movie.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he was just kind of a ground character.
[SPEAKER_04]: Deadpool, you get a good sense of who he isn't Deadpool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I need to watch that apparently.
[SPEAKER_04]: We'll give me a lot of the first one now.
[SPEAKER_00]: Back story.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, now that you're a big X-Men fan, you've been converted.
[SPEAKER_04]: All right guys.
[SPEAKER_04]: Well, we're gonna see goodbye now.
[SPEAKER_04]: We'll be here next week.
[SPEAKER_04]: But bye.
