[SPEAKER_00]: ever say never we're gonna live forever Hello and go birds everybody yeah this is part of one says go birds is celebration of fight-to-favorite things in the entire world tabletop role playing games in the city of brotherly love we are here at Unity Java umbre and Philadelphia Pennsylvania uh i am here uh to play some games to yapp
[SPEAKER_00]: to have a very good time.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sitting now in Jacqueline Burke, Jacqueline, thanks so much for coming on the show.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for having me, Joe.
[SPEAKER_00]: I am so excited.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know we've been talking about this for a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: About six months.
[SPEAKER_00]: About six months.
[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what?
[SPEAKER_00]: About six months.
[SPEAKER_00]: And like that sounds like, wow, that conversation we're going off for a long time.
[SPEAKER_00]: I will own the fact that most four of those six months were me going, oh God, I have to respond to emails.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh God.
[SPEAKER_00]: But that's how it would be sometimes.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's six.
[SPEAKER_03]: This six months felt like a decade.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's not you.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's fair.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what?
[SPEAKER_00]: You're not wrong.
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, well, I'm excited to sit down.
[SPEAKER_00]: We have a really fun game lined up today, but before we get into that, why don't you take a moment?
[SPEAKER_00]: Let our lovely listeners here at at home know about what you've got going on.
[SPEAKER_00]: You want them to know about it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hi, my name is Jacqueline Rick.
[SPEAKER_03]: You can find me most places online as Ruffle Jacks.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's our UFFLE J-A-A-X.
[SPEAKER_03]: I recently released a game through plus one RPG Zinclov, called Bear Witness, which is my fucked up little solo game based on the 2008 movie martyrs by Pascal Langea, in which you play a member of the cults that is abusing marginalized young women in order to get a glimpse of the afterlife.
[SPEAKER_03]: I am also setting up a third instance of NauticonCon, which is my small-wire housecon with my friend Stephen Tasker.
[SPEAKER_03]: This will be our third year running it, and player applications for that will be open soon, and you'll probably be able to find them in the show notes, because I've got to get them to the job as soon as I have that application.
[SPEAKER_00]: That sounds exactly where you'll find them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, and I appreciate you proactively sending me links to putting the show up.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're welcome.
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I love a small housecon and really my entire, my entire heart belongs to like, get a house with, uh, how many, how many people on average?
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, so last year we had 43.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's the sweet spot.
[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to go up to 50 this year.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the sweet spot.
[SPEAKER_03]: But hey Jeff, did you know that for the next week or so, we still have the influencer special guest application open that you could get a free ticket to not a con con revenge of the con?
[SPEAKER_00]: I did not, I legitimately did not know that, and it assumed those had closed already and so I feel a little bit called out right now.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's open until March 1st, what if you applied to be an influencer, not a con con revenge of the con?
[SPEAKER_00]: We have started running these gobirds events earlier, which means I'm going to get home at a reasonable hour, which means that I love time to browse on the internet.
[SPEAKER_00]: It might send out an application later tonight.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see how it goes.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, to shove that in front of you after we're recording this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I really do appreciate that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm stoked.
[SPEAKER_00]: We have a really wonderful game that I've been looking for an excuse to play on the show for a very long time.
[SPEAKER_00]: We are playing Insatiable Cravings by Jay Stroutman.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a game about a monster and an admirer.
[SPEAKER_00]: Having a meal together, finding the way to each other's heart.
[SPEAKER_00]: through their stomach naturally.
[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe betraying and killing each other, maybe both dying, maybe like forging a new path forward and starting a relationship together.
[SPEAKER_00]: The options are, I won't say limitless because they're eight of them, but like, there's a lot of possibilities.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's higher than I can count.
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I went to school for English, so yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, what are you excited about today?
[SPEAKER_00]: What are you looking forward to in the game?
[SPEAKER_03]: So I am super thrilled that we get to play a game about romance and also a game about food because those are some of my favorite things on Earth.
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I have been in my romance novel era since roughly 23.
[SPEAKER_03]: And something I find is that a lot of romance novels tend not to describe the food as well as I would like, even those that kind of like get stuck on the food, but I also really like write a reading food writing, one of my favorite novels, in existence is a certain hunger by Chelsea Summers, which is about a cannibal food critic in her mid-50s and telling her life story after she gets caught.
[SPEAKER_00]: that rips what a pitch.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's really good and it's written by a woman who actually used to be a food reviewer.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, ready?
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the magic.
[SPEAKER_03]: And there's this constant comparison of food to sex and food to intimacy and just like these really sensual delicious descriptions like I learned how to cook with duck fat because of this book.
[SPEAKER_03]: sure sure like that and in fact if you're interested bear witness actually has a blurb from the author of that book because I traded her a copy of my zine for that blurb because I love her writing good good good good but something I noticed in a lot of like
[SPEAKER_03]: cannibal horror and really cannibal storytelling every kind is that a lot of people tend to get sort of lost in the taboo of it and don't really explore the the intimacy or the sensuality or even the food aspects totally cannibalism because we're so stuck on the idea that we're eating people that like
[SPEAKER_03]: This is, make it me sound a lot weird and I normally do very exciting, but I just, I love this sensuality and the, the sort of sense of place in person who didn't that novel and I'm very excited to explore something similar in this game because this game seems like it will support that a great deal.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think so and I think, I'm really excited to hear you talk about like,
[SPEAKER_00]: It really is not until you said that it occurred to me how much I love you know how how much of the food element is exciting me in this like I am
[SPEAKER_00]: I think, I can almost point to where it comes from, because one of my great loves is one of the great examples.
[SPEAKER_00]: I am the biggest food anime stan soccer in the world.
[SPEAKER_03]: Where are you in Dungeon Meshie right now?
[SPEAKER_03]: About halfway through the first season.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's been like a, it's been a week, like we grab a couple episodes when we want to sit down with it, but we grab the lot of shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a thing that has happened in the last month.
[SPEAKER_00]: We have grabbed like three different shows, uh, Jen and I, where we were like, this will be a nothing show that I'm gonna put on and it will fill time while Jen is cooking.
[SPEAKER_00]: And every single time we're like two episodes in like, no, we can't watch this if we're not both seated.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're getting up to go to the bathroom, I have to pause it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's too good.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's too special to me.
[SPEAKER_00]: It just, it keeps, wait, I just need a filler show that's kind of nothing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't find one because they're all too good.
[SPEAKER_03]: So I have two recommendations for you.
[SPEAKER_03]: Not for filler shows, but for shows that have a really fun food element.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to Demon School, Yotama Koon.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
[SPEAKER_03]: Which is about a kid who gets traded to the arch demon who runs the school for demons.
[SPEAKER_03]: So his parents can have a case of Dom Perignon.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's really fun.
[SPEAKER_03]: But he gets this grandpa because this arch demon really just wanted to have a grand kid to spoil.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: So there's all of these scenes of like demon food and like this kid being celebrated with these things that he didn't have in his former life.
[SPEAKER_03]: And there's also my life as a villainous all roads lead to doom, which has a bisexual female main character, Lisa Kai, and like almost all of the cast are in love with her and think they have a claim on her, but her real sexuality is food.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, great.
[SPEAKER_03]: So like she gets very like the macaroons and the snacks because she it's an east of Kaya from like a school girl into an automagame.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, as your villainous.
[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
[SPEAKER_03]: And just all of this exciting food that she gets to eat and she's just, oh, she can do magic.
[SPEAKER_03]: Of course, like she's very powerful.
[SPEAKER_03]: But really what if she could study and have strawberry shortcake while she's studying?
[SPEAKER_03]: Like what if she could do that?
[SPEAKER_00]: That hits.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Have you seen restaurant to another world?
[SPEAKER_03]: I have not but I've heard good things about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's really great.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's wonderful.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's Dungeon Mashie like a Jason the premise is that there's a door that pops up in a cafe in Tokyo It's like a it's like a French cafe or like a friend a region inspired cafe in Tokyo And there's a door in the back of the restaurant that
[SPEAKER_00]: It appears at random places in a like generic fantasy world and like at random times and each episode is like a different fantasy creature or character like walking through the door and being like what is this and then finding a dish that they love So it's all like fantasy.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like rather than like Dungeon Messy, which is all like here's how like we eat in the fantasy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's
[SPEAKER_00]: There's like lizard fault that come in and discover like rice with gravy and I like this it or it's it's they've just got our own rice and they're like this is But yeah, and they bring back bags of it to their life.
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we don't have to steal the eggs out of the nest now.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so great.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's I love it.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's it's wonderful.
[SPEAKER_00]: It that that's the energy that I'm really like tapping into.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hell yeah
[SPEAKER_00]: Great, I'm really excited.
[SPEAKER_00]: First big question for us to discuss.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've got two roles.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've got our monster, and we've got our admirer.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is there a role that you are particularly drawn to?
[SPEAKER_03]: listeners, you can't see what I'm wearing right now for those of you who may be listening along at home.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm currently wearing a pair of Rams Horns and also a elegant Gothic aristocratic outfit with an image of a sweet shove, the black coat of a thousand young on the skirt.
[SPEAKER_03]: So I think I'm going to play the monster.
[SPEAKER_00]: Great, great.
[SPEAKER_00]: I will play the admirer.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like to be admirer.
[SPEAKER_00]: So what we're going to do.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've got our deck of playing cards in front of us.
[SPEAKER_00]: We are going to begin by determining our initial.
[SPEAKER_00]: craving.
[SPEAKER_00]: What our initial objective of the game is.
[SPEAKER_00]: The admirer is someone that has pursued the monster.
[SPEAKER_00]: The monster has noticed the admirer pursuing them.
[SPEAKER_00]: And an invitation has been issued to a meal.
[SPEAKER_00]: We are going to share a meal together and the scenes that we are going to tell are going to be the lead up to that meal where one of us might betray the other.
[SPEAKER_00]: We might both betray one another.
[SPEAKER_00]: Neither might betray the other.
[SPEAKER_00]: But really our initial stance of like what we're trying to do will be determine draw one of these cards keep it face down or like look at it Do not show me and do not tell me what it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
[SPEAKER_00]: If that card is red, then your ultimate objective is to, your ultimate objective is the monster is to eat the admire.
[SPEAKER_00]: If mine is red, my ultimate objective is to kill the monster.
[SPEAKER_00]: If it is black, we are objective is to spare the other.
[SPEAKER_00]: What does the game tech say?
[SPEAKER_00]: If we have that, we should be discarding hearts.
[SPEAKER_00]: to make sure that we are not betraying our other partner.
[SPEAKER_00]: If we have red one, we want to try and collect as many high-value hearts cards to do so.
[SPEAKER_00]: With the caveat that heart cards are wild during play, and if you keep too many of them, if we ultimately come to the final thing, and we have two heart cards that are adjacent to one another, then we both die in a terrible and poetic fashion.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a really fun, but sometimes you read a game rule, but you read a piece of the game that's really fucking clever.
[SPEAKER_00]: because it's both like you don't want to hold on to the cards and also you're like, I really hope that you have not held on to these two guards that will kill us both.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's really great.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we've got some questions to ask each other.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Where are those questions?
[SPEAKER_00]: They are on page six.
[SPEAKER_00]: Page six.
[SPEAKER_00]: Page six.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think we'll go back and forth.
[SPEAKER_00]: So why don't you ask me the first monster question and then I'll shoot you back with my question.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I actually, sorry.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think on page five, we discussed the setting.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, right.
[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't discuss the set.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, what's setting excites you, what's on your mind lately?
[SPEAKER_03]: Gosh, I've been writing, you know, a lot of sort of near future or like 20 minutes in the future.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: So I think I would like to be playing a monster sort of like out of time in a, in a more like maybe slightly futuristic slightly dystopian city.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I like out of time a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: the vibe that I like that vibe a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like that there's a, a clap, like, there's an aesthetic that I really, I don't know that I like, but that is on my mind a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: This, I'm gonna unleash my rant about Philadelphia architecture or the Philadelphia Architectural Trends of the last year.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you have at least one architect in the audience.
[SPEAKER_03]: So you can be critiques.
[SPEAKER_00]: A thing that has pissed me off to no end.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, hell yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is market street in Philadelphia, or yeah, market street in Philadelphia, right outside of city, like in and around 13 street in city hall.
[SPEAKER_00]: You have all of these build, these old, beautiful buildings.
[SPEAKER_03]: The one maker is my favorite.
[SPEAKER_00]: The one maker, like, and they have got awful.
[SPEAKER_00]: Giant LED crypto ads lastered on the top of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: that make them look like dog shit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
[SPEAKER_00]: That is, I think, the monstrous energy, like hearing like a thing out of time, slightly in the future.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the energy.
[SPEAKER_00]: that clashing of old and new, that sort of incongruity, like that is very compelling to me as an aesthetic and an energy to chase out.
[SPEAKER_00]: Me too.
[SPEAKER_00]: What is there a monstrous detail that you find exciting, scary, horns?
[SPEAKER_00]: Horns?
[UNKNOWN]: Horns?
[SPEAKER_00]: Horns?
[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
[SPEAKER_00]: We work with this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I where am I brain immediately goes because like I was thinking I was on the drive in thinking about like monsters that I find scary and fascinating and enticing and I found myself drawn back to
[SPEAKER_00]: kind of a slap-dashedly written monster in the third edition Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual not to expose myself too much, but the chaos beast Oh, as a sort of cloud of weird fucking shit Yeah, it's the only way to describe it and it's it's such a slap-dash sort of like I don't know some fucking blood
[SPEAKER_00]: Lovecraft cosmic horror.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it gives a shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a cloud with tentacles.
[SPEAKER_00]: Who gives a but there's something very compelling about like and a more fist thing that has horns in many places and like emerging in many forms that like There's something compelling about that.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's my thing that I want to float out there cool
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what the actual concrete form of our monster will look like.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll leave that to you to flesh that out, but that's an energy that I'm throwing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm seasoning that into the stew.
[SPEAKER_03]: I like that because I was kind of thinking like, main energy, all those that sort of like, very chaotic.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's an energy.
[SPEAKER_03]: And if it's just a monster with features that are like a vaguely humanoid monster, but with features that are kind of constantly shifting.
[SPEAKER_00]: That hits really hard.
[SPEAKER_00]: That hits really hard.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we've got some questions to answer.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Would you like to answer the first question?
[SPEAKER_00]: Would you just ask the first question?
[SPEAKER_03]: I would just ask the first question.
[SPEAKER_03]: All right, we got hold on one second.
[SPEAKER_03]: I got unlock my phone.
[SPEAKER_03]: Dan was critiquing my phone being locked very quickly.
[SPEAKER_03]: I've like a 30 second phone lock.
[SPEAKER_03]: So who fears the monster most?
[SPEAKER_00]: Who fears the monster the most in our sort of near future ish setting?
[SPEAKER_00]: tying into this sort of ever-changing energy, this sort of shifting, tying into this clashing of old and new, there is a desire to catalog.
[SPEAKER_00]: there is a desire to let them I think that that is a fatal impulse in this case not just because you will literally kill them but like it will like like that the pursuit will destroy them in more ways than one and I think there is that sense of
[SPEAKER_00]: you know the rabbit hole will go ever deeper in the more that you the deeper you go the more it will consume you and i think that is the sense of the people that have that have started to dig into that and have started to do that research have been consumed whether literally or metaphoric nice who knows the admirer best
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm gonna say that the admire had a recent relationship that actually got broken up over their obsession or their admiration of the monster.
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels really good.
[SPEAKER_00]: I really like that.
[SPEAKER_03]: And their ex knows them super well.
[SPEAKER_00]: That hits, that goes very hard.
[SPEAKER_03]: And we can flesh out the action come to that.
[SPEAKER_03]: What dangers does one face when near the monster?
[SPEAKER_03]: I think we had a pretty good, like,
[SPEAKER_03]: It's almost, it's forgive me for referencing Apocalypse world.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hi, Megan Vince.
[SPEAKER_03]: But the psychic maelstrom?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a little bit of a psychic maelstrom.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's also kind of a social maelstrom now.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Because you're never quite sure where you stand with the monster.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like that a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: I really think that's a good energy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Talk to me about what is the admirer keep hidden?
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my gosh, there are so many options for this.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of good options.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's so many good options.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm trying to think of someone who kind of
[SPEAKER_03]: I think the admirer has a deep fear of either failure or not fitting in and has sort of like is constantly pushing themselves into these social situations, constantly trying to get a foothold in different social groups and trying to maybe not cloud chasing necessarily, but very much like I am here and I deserve to be here and like kind of
[SPEAKER_03]: They're they're very like extroverted and fun person, but that is because they feel they have to be because other wise people will forget them.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, totally.
[SPEAKER_00]: That hits.
[SPEAKER_00]: That goes crazy.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see.
[SPEAKER_00]: What's my third quote?
[SPEAKER_00]: What's your next question?
[SPEAKER_00]: What's your final question?
[SPEAKER_03]: Which piece of the admirer looks most delicious?
[SPEAKER_00]: which piece of the admirer looks the way did we switch quit, did we sooner quit, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
[SPEAKER_00]: I keep thinking about, and reading through the text of the game, I think that the least monstrous part of the monster is going back to what you said, like, at the top of the episode.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think there is an impulse, like, there is, I'm gonna lean on that appreciation
[SPEAKER_00]: food and the experience of food and the sensuality of food.
[SPEAKER_03]: Like they had this very grounded like sensuality.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like it's this it's this it's this sense of like because the premise of the game is that like you have invited me to dinner and like it is the idea of like You invited me to do that's is it that I have a back and it's not the admirer invited the mom.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it?
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was I thought the monster.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well now I got it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think I think it might be I think it might be the just it unless I'm mistaken It might just be that an invitation has been made Either way, I might if it if it I might propose
[SPEAKER_00]: I might propose that we break the game immediately because I think because I think the idea of like a monster that has sent an invitation and been like this is a meal like even if you are the main course like we're having a meal like there is a there is a well you might or is cooking because that is true okay then I have to invite you
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but I think that kind of works for that fierce thing for God, sort of like I need I need you to see me I need you to see me even though you are the monster.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, and also I think it is then then by extension I think that it is the the desire to come to the monster could leap out of the shadows and like
[SPEAKER_00]: look me from from from the you know from the ether and crush me that way but like I would like to engage in the ritual of human connections.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the least monstrous thing is that desire to take part in the ritual of food and the ritual of connection and the ritual of sociality and I think there is
[SPEAKER_00]: something incredibly compelling in that.
[SPEAKER_03]: But, Jack, what are you playing in this game?
[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, if I have to play it, if you play a guy that is expert in the job, if you're afraid of being forgotten, we're all going to be called out about some things today.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I was called myself out and it's fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's all right, it's fair.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, what piece of the admirer looks the most delicious?
[SPEAKER_03]: so you know that part of your neck that runs into your shoulder where the vagus nerve is.
[SPEAKER_00]: I-I-Yes.
[SPEAKER_03]: The right here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: Right here, especially, hold on, especially when the admire gets a little sweaty and jumpy and this part just kind of shines and gets a little bit like salty and sweet.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Same.
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: How many people in this audience can I make blush?
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll find out, uh, fuck yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so we've got our picture.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've got our admire, uh, the detail that I want to throw in.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now that I've got a picture of my admirer is like, this idea, uh,
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to go podcast or I'm not going to go podcast or I'm not going to go podcast video I say is video I say it has to be the pitch.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the only way that I'm getting out of this one alive a twitch stream because like I'm thinking like press one if I should kiss the monster.
[SPEAKER_00]: Can we get some kiss the monster in chat?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like the vibe that I get that I think is so good is that idea of the idea, the urge to atomize and the need to be present in the mirror being forgotten.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, that points me towards a debunker.
[SPEAKER_00]: All of that points me towards, all of that points me towards, almost like a Zach Baggins.
[SPEAKER_00]: Almost like a Zach Baggins that could like something in that ghost hunter's aura, aura, aura, lore that I like.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you're doing, we're back.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's something that is compelling to me about the idea of like I have to I have whether I'm proving it false or I'm proving it real like I have to engage with this and I have to be the
[SPEAKER_00]: I have to be present when you are thinking of this monster, or else I will be forgotten on the way.
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh God, bless.
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I got a lot of opinions about found footage, fiction's podcast, and I love a found fiction.
[SPEAKER_00]: I do, it's a weak spot.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God, white vault season one, phenomenal fucking only.
[SPEAKER_03]: See, I look like a, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, talk to me about what the monster's layer looks like and then I'm going to tell you why it's not as secure as you think So
[SPEAKER_03]: Where my mind goes immediately, and I want you to like play with me on this because I don't want to just be this.
[SPEAKER_03]: But my mind goes immediately to Chelsea Summers' other work, which is, um, okay, uh, I forget what it's called.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's something host.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry Chelsea, I loved it.
[SPEAKER_03]: I still keep it on my desk, um, but it is an excellent host.
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, but it is a short story about, uh, it's a novella actually about maintenance in the city and they rent Airbnb's to have their like parties and stuff and sacrifice a man at the parties.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so I'm kind of almost thinking like Airbnb couch surfer.
[SPEAKER_03]: Airbnb capture first great but I'm also kind of thinking like going back to your thing with the want to make your building and the buildings around city hall like one of those very old buildings that has been turned into an apartment complex sure and somewhere like near the top of that apartment building and it's
[SPEAKER_03]: The apartment hasn't been like super furnished.
[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm thinking like it's mostly bare except for then you get these weird maximalist pieces.
[SPEAKER_03]: Totally.
[SPEAKER_03]: In the middle of the apartment.
[SPEAKER_03]: So like the hallway in the apartment is just white walls.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's no picture.
[SPEAKER_03]: But then there's this huge 16th century water rug down the hallway.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that this is, I think this space is not as secure as you think.
[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think she quite gets like security in the modern age.
[SPEAKER_03]: Like she's so used to being in a den on it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's all, I think it is, I love that.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the other half of it is, you know, part of, not just security, but like building existence in a modern age, modern city is that there are a lot more ways into and out of a given building, especially in a city, especially one of these old old buildings,
[SPEAKER_00]: you're not protecting one entrance to your tent to your cave, you're protecting the sewer, you're protecting the front door, you're protecting the side door, you're protecting the service, no matter what you think, the fire escape, you're protecting all of the air-shoots like, if somebody wants to get into that building, they're gonna get into that building, especially if it hasn't been particularly like sealed off or like camera'd up or anything like, somebody's gonna get in there if they want to get in there.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's very compelling to me.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and I think it's very much like if I get on the highest ground, then I am safe.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that feels great.
[SPEAKER_00]: We can take some time to describe, I think we can like describe some locations or we can jump right into scenes.
[SPEAKER_00]: What do you want to do?
[SPEAKER_03]: I think I would like to describe the locations as we, I think that feels good.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that feels good.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll skip over to phase one of play.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: How play is going to work is we are going to draw each of us is for phase one are going to draw five cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: And we are going to lay down a number of mood cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: These cannot be hearts, hearts can only be played like during scene play.
[SPEAKER_00]: But these will set the tone for the scene that isn't front of us.
[SPEAKER_00]: And will kind of color what is happening and also kind of signal to the other player a little bit of like what like.
[SPEAKER_03]: What we're kind of going here.
[SPEAKER_00]: What you're going for, where your head is at, like what your character's motivation,
[SPEAKER_00]: because part of play is trying to figure out like are you trying to betray me?
[SPEAKER_00]: Am I changing my motivation?
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm gonna grab some cards.
[SPEAKER_03]: I love that we have this mood mechanic that kind of allows us to signal to each other what we're looking for in play.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's great.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a huge fan of like risk mitigation and emotional negotiation as part of the game rather than something kind of tacked onto the game.
[SPEAKER_03]: And I think this is a really clever and elegant way you're doing.
[SPEAKER_00]: It really is.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, I've drawn my five cards.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh God, bless.
[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you, Red Wine Superner, put her canine teeth in the side of mine.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's fine.
[SPEAKER_03]: Don't worry about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't worry about it.
[SPEAKER_03]: So don't worry about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Our first scene, one of us is going to be the active player that is the person that is like taking action and the other person is going to kind of describe the situation around them for that player.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: At various times, you're going to roll some dice.
[SPEAKER_00]: I have a D6 here.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll roll that twice and add that together.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then wild cards, your hearts can affect those dice rolls and like cause things to happen in play.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, for scene one, where did the admirer come from?
[SPEAKER_00]: What do they seek?
[SPEAKER_00]: Does their arrival take place tension on your other relationships?
[SPEAKER_00]: As the scene director, I am going to play two mood cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: As the monster you are the active player, you're going to play one mood card.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to take a look at these, what these mood card prompts are, and see what my options are, a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels great.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm really happy with all of my mood cards.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm just keeping those.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to throw, yeah, I feel good about all of these options.
[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I am going to get rid of one of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to get rid of this.
[SPEAKER_03]: I believe you discard it face down.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: So we put it over here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
[SPEAKER_00]: I get rid of that one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Draw one more.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that feels good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, that feels great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I've got my two, I've got my two mood cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: My playing two or my playing one.
[SPEAKER_03]: I believe you're playing two.
[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I've got my two mood cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: So the mood cards here are going to be four of clubs which represents somewhere plain.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think as we are seeing the monster for the first time, I want to see it like interjected.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see it interjected into a space of relative normality.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about what that place looks like.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the other card that I am playing,
[SPEAKER_00]: is an NPC demeanor of uncomfortable.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think both of those things together represent that idea of like, this is a space of normality, this is a space of normalcy, where the monster's presence is going to be made known in a very disruptive fashion.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I, I, yeah, okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's what I'm excited about.
[SPEAKER_03]: And I think I play one.
[SPEAKER_00]: You play one, yeah, you're gonna play one mood card to further color this scene.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, let me see.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to play the Queen of Diamonds, so the atmosphere is quiet.
[SPEAKER_00]: Quiet feels great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Location that I want to throw in.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm inquired, it's normal, the presence, like a monstrous presence would be uncomfortable, tying into this idea of the people that fear the monster.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is in the like lower stacks of like the city public library.
[SPEAKER_00]: the deep research stacks past the past like the general things where the people that are down there are down there because they are like they have received permission to be down there and they are down there with purpose like this is you know we if we follow we follow past your your fiction shows and your your DVDs into the I am here looking for something and the
[SPEAKER_03]: So my thought was going to be with the cards you put down was like at a restaurant or like almost like a boarder's cafe before they closed and the monster's showing up and like awkwardly attempting to order something.
[SPEAKER_03]: But I actually like this idea, a lot better of the monster's kind of showing up in the stacks and being like sub.
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels that there's something very sad.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so like, I think that like,
[SPEAKER_00]: the admirer tried to decide i think the the admirers here doing research like is doing like not location research but like local law research in the city that that he's in is he filming it
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: But like, Sarah, very surreptitiously, like, on his phone, making sure to hold the phone, uh, hold the phone sideways to get that big.
[SPEAKER_03]: Actually, no, you get one of those landyards that you can take pictures.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's great.
[SPEAKER_00]: And like, uh, so I'm getting the up, you're getting the up shot, you get the nose shot, you're getting the, like, theoretically turning down at the book.
[SPEAKER_00]: Cause, but like,
[SPEAKER_00]: This is the, this is going to be the sequence in the video essay of like, I've got to, I've got to show you what I found in the stacks.
[SPEAKER_00]: So important.
[SPEAKER_00]: How is the monster making themselves known like in this moment?
[SPEAKER_03]: So I think the monster is, as they move, it's less, have you ever try to get a good visual image on this?
[SPEAKER_03]: Have you ever, I guess the best way, you know the sequence in the Lord of the Rings with the water horses, so you sort of see the water tumble over and over itself, but it's in the shape of a horse.
[SPEAKER_03]: her movement is kind of like that I think I was just thinking about those water horses today and they're so hard so like it's it's she's a humanoid form and you could describe it as walking it like she is moving forward in a walking fashion but it's like very much her sort of form is tumbling over and over itself as she walks um and I think she kind of looks over they admire a shoulder at what he's
[SPEAKER_00]: What book is he, it's got a, it is because we are bound together in this way.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is, um,
[SPEAKER_00]: an account of meeting you in some form, maybe not even named by name, but like it is like an account, like it is a, it is like a, like a bloodstained journal that like, I'm like, I got to lead that this was in the stacks and I'm like, you know,
[SPEAKER_00]: flipping through it on camera to get the footage so that people can see it as I read like knowing that I'm going to read some of this later on, like I'm capturing the footage of the film.
[SPEAKER_00]: So you found the original the parts of it are online, you've been I've done the initial research, I've come here to get this and like I've got my hands on the journal and now I'm flipping through it, like taking notes so that I can read some of this later, but also just showing the view or like the pages of the journal.
[SPEAKER_03]: So I think she sort of looks
[SPEAKER_03]: It's better with Renoir's annotations.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think there is a pause of, it is as terrified as it is predatory of like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I
[SPEAKER_03]: Does he know it's the monster at this time because I think there's just like a taller woman sort of like looming over him right that's a really good point I think like it is a certain degree so I think in this moment then it is a like I know okay actually I have it.
[SPEAKER_03]: I have a question.
[SPEAKER_03]: I know I know I know I'm I know on the active player here But what scent comes from the monster that kind of like puts him on his guard right now?
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is
[SPEAKER_00]: The sort of roasted cinnamon scent or spiced scent of almost
[SPEAKER_00]: like a barba koa almost like it is this it is this scent of like a pig-like meat that has been that has been slow, it's slow-culted spices and like you smell the meat of it right you smell the meat of it pierces through the scent of the spice but it's very like the floor
[SPEAKER_00]: Triggers a sense of like that either somebody has the most fucked up perfume that has ever existed.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no, I can tell you what the most fucked up perfume that's ever existed.
[SPEAKER_03]: I have it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Great or
[SPEAKER_00]: This smell is real in a way that is alarming.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think, like, Pharaoh, almost.
[SPEAKER_00]: Pharaoh's a good way to put it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so like, it is a, there is a, like, seizing of the shoulders and a conscious stealing of oneself before the kind of predatory smile emerges of, well, if, uh, and I think maybe this is where I call for a role because I want to know, like,
[SPEAKER_00]: What is it?
[SPEAKER_00]: What reaction are you trying to get in this moment?
[SPEAKER_03]: I think she's kind of trying, you know that thing where a monster in a movie shows up and is like, I like this account of me better.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's very much that, yes, hello, I am here and I'm making my presence known how will you react to me.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm interested to see what you do when you are surprised.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that it is a, like, you can see.
[SPEAKER_00]: the self-composure.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like you see the composing of your own in that spot, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you see it sees up, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like you see it freeze and then kind of force itself back in the...
[SPEAKER_03]: The chef asked me to dinner first.
[SPEAKER_03]: Jesus.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then like, and then there is the slow turnaround and the like, well, look up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the look, like the turnaround, the pause, the slow, look, the pause, and then a second pause
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, if you've got a better, if you've got a better account of the story, I'm all ears.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then like, a glance down at the camera of a, like, are you, am I fucking getting this?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, trying to play it up to the camera, but also like desperately making sure, like, yes, I actually am getting this.
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, you're not going to find it here.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to ask you for a roll here.
[SPEAKER_03]: OK.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to be a 2D6 roll.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think what I want to know, I want to know if you have drawn the admirer in or pushed them away.
[SPEAKER_03]: No, excellent.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I want to know if the admirer, I don't have an answer for if the admirer is taking the bait.
[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think that the 2D6 roll is fun here to see whether or not this repels or a track.
[SPEAKER_03]: Tell you, all right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, um, do I win?
[SPEAKER_00]: You, you said, drawn in like like a spider on a web, draw the top card off of the deck and keep it in your hand.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think it is a, I think it is, uh, truly, truly played like a chump.
[SPEAKER_00]: The, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,
[SPEAKER_00]: Well great.
[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like it sounds like I've got my next location shoot in order.
[SPEAKER_00]: Where do I find this book and where do I find the stories of this Renoir?
[SPEAKER_00]: What's a relocation shoot?
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, and I, oh, God, the problem is that that truly does just continue to draw a deeper and deeper and like, is like sure, of course, I'm getting ahead of myself.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I want to know more about this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to know more about you.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to know more about all of this.
[SPEAKER_00]: You.
[SPEAKER_00]: are why I came here today.
[SPEAKER_00]: Where do I get every single detail of your life in the lives of those that you've met within the past?
[SPEAKER_03]: Are you often this open with women?
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, better that thing closed off in playing games.
[SPEAKER_00]: I find honesty is a better way of doing things.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's honorable.
[SPEAKER_03]: I like that.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's what they always say.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think like, there's a, there's a faux confidence in that line, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: There is the, there is the like, I am trying to play it, like I, like I'm if I play it, like I'm the cool cucumber, maybe I will maybe I will like actually settle my nerves a little bit.
[SPEAKER_03]: Who is they and where do I find them?
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I think, um, how do we make a deal?
[SPEAKER_00]: You give me some locations on where I find some journals about Renoir and any other great stories that you've got.
[SPEAKER_00]: I give you the names of some, some days, some cheese, some heat, some it's enter as and so forth.
[SPEAKER_00]: And you get to hear a few of my monster stories.
[SPEAKER_00]: How about that?
[SPEAKER_03]: Are these the people who you also said you were honorable?
[SPEAKER_00]: Most mostly, I would say, I'd honourable enough.
[SPEAKER_03]: I am asking you for the names of my competition.
[SPEAKER_00]: Give me a two to six.
[SPEAKER_00]: That is a seven, which I believe is a fail year.
[SPEAKER_00]: six a seven is a failure.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I think what that looks like is I mean, I think that pulls in the discomfort that we pull.
[SPEAKER_00]: It does.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it pulls in a like, I think it pulls in.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is, this is my signal.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is his signal that like, I'm not in control.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like they like that like I'm not in the driver seat.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's where I kind of like, well, I mean, you know, I,
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to need some assurance that they're going to be okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: We haven't spoken in a while and I want to make sure they're taken care of and also.
[SPEAKER_00]: I believe a demand was made for information before I hand over names and I think that the failure here is I'm not budging until I get the information that I need to further my story.
[SPEAKER_00]: I would say a barter, a bargain, a contract, if you will.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, be very careful about who you may contracts with.
[SPEAKER_00]: I find that a contract is the best way to get what you want.
[SPEAKER_03]: All contracts of loopholes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, then I don't see the problem putting a contract in order, and then finding the loopholes later.
[SPEAKER_03]: kind of looks around.
[SPEAKER_03]: Very well.
[SPEAKER_03]: Where did the store the vellum?
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels like a very good scene.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels like a great scene.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay, I like these two a lot.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a good vibe.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is hitting really hard.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're so cute.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Good damn it.
[SPEAKER_00]: scene two.
[SPEAKER_00]: What must the monster eat that is not easily accessible?
[SPEAKER_00]: Where can you find it?
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and what do you do to obtain it?
[SPEAKER_00]: I am the active active player here, which means you're going to play two mood cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to play one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Those are the questions that we're going to explore.
[SPEAKER_03]: Are we drawing anything?
[SPEAKER_00]: uh... we do not which we we we have the cards that we have and we redraw at the once we play these cards what will happen is we can look at the cards that we have left over and if we so choose weekend uh... replace our craving card with one of the cards on the table
[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a value and occasionally holding back a card that you might want to play because if if you feel your motivation changing, you might want to hold onto a card of a different suit either red or black.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you're like, I think I want to change my, change my stance in act three.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to play one of our, one of my cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: That'll probably be the card that I played because that'll be the easiest way to grab that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, actually that feels great.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm glad that that card fell out of my hand because that feels like such a perfect mood card to play here.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to play the mood card of an NPC demeanor that is morbid.
[SPEAKER_03]: No, boy.
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: OK, I'm going to play clubs, locations, somewhere empty.
[SPEAKER_03]: OK, and diamonds atmosphere, somewhere daunting.
[SPEAKER_00]: Empty and daunting feels real good.
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, I think that, and stop me if this hits any part of them is ready.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think this is a, um, palliative care center that is on the verge of being shut down.
[SPEAKER_03]: And this monster needs the last breath of a dying person.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.
[SPEAKER_00]: Look.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's real fucking good.
[SPEAKER_03]: So it's like this, this old, like,
[SPEAKER_03]: And I want to keep with that theme of, you know what, actually, I was going to go with like a more Gothic building like we do with the Monsters building, but I don't want to do that.
[SPEAKER_03]: Instead, I want it to be this like very ultra modern sort of structured care facility that was built with the last five years, but it's one of those care facilities that was invested in by private equity and like the money just isn't there.
[SPEAKER_03]: So it's slowly been shutting down and there's like maybe one patient in a ward that was meant for ten sort of thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels great That feels really good and if I can throw some gasoline on this spot.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh This is I want to I have a question.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna save it for our knit for my next scene that I that I could for you to be the active player to tell the story of Renoir a little bit But I think what this is
[SPEAKER_00]: I think one of the, maybe the only doctor on staff at this pallet of care center is my ex-boyfriend is one of the ones that called me honorable and lately and you have come to this care center where there is like a dying person being watched over by a doctor.
[SPEAKER_00]: whose name you were given by my character as somebody that I loved once.
[SPEAKER_03]: What is what is the, I can come up with the last name if you don't have it.
[SPEAKER_00]: What is the, the doctor's name is Dr. Dr. Shaw.
[SPEAKER_03]: Dr. Shaw.
[SPEAKER_03]: All right, cool.
[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, she's going to do her thing, Rishi.
[SPEAKER_03]: pears through the doors.
[SPEAKER_03]: And she's very quiet.
[SPEAKER_03]: She's not really, she's one of those people who is either all noise all the time where just doesn't make us sound.
[SPEAKER_03]: So she is being quite I think a little uncomfortably her heart like she's very tall So her horns briefly catch on like this lighting glatt like the the fucking sensor and the lighting glass door And that's embarrassing But such is the peril of modern life
[SPEAKER_03]: She checks in, she checks in as a visitor.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's a touch screen for that, but her fingerprints are all fingerprints and none.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yep, sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: So she usually gets in and she heads up to the ward with Dr. Shaw.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Shaw is, yeah, what we see is like a wing of a hospital or like a large treating room with like a number of beds and there is one bed with someone in it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Dr. Shaw is like, just like,
[SPEAKER_00]: not really talking to them because I don't think this person is particularly like I think he's reading to them off like a kid.
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels good.
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels really good.
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels really good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Because like you're still on payroll, but you have like maybe three people on your rotation.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So he's he's reading he is reading.
[SPEAKER_00]: He is reading, this old, he's reading this old person A. I think he's reading them, well, not their journal because he's reading on his Kindle, but.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think, yeah, it's like reading like a journal.
[SPEAKER_03]: Like a World War II.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right, that was so good, yeah, like a World War II.
[SPEAKER_00]: History book, yeah, primary source type.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just from the war.
[SPEAKER_00]: Alphan.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the detail I'm throwing in is like,
[SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Shaw does a lot of voices.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Shaw is really getting into the voice work here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Each character has got their own individual voice and all of the accounts like I think there is a certain degree in for Dr. Shaw of nobody's here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm going to give this person something and also I'm going to have fun with it.
[SPEAKER_03]: I also think that's something he picked up from the admirer.
[SPEAKER_03]: That feels fucking great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that feels great.
[SPEAKER_03]: Like I think the admirer really brought out that like sort of creative side in him.
[SPEAKER_03]: That was almost was burning out during that school.
[SPEAKER_03]: So like,
[SPEAKER_03]: And it's not that he doesn't love the admirer.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's also, and he also very much misses the admirer.
[SPEAKER_03]: But the admirer is like deep in this obsession.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: And everything gets sort of transacted through that obsession, I think.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: So she's going to make her way down the ward.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think like there's a moment when he sees you
[SPEAKER_00]: from what you just described, I think, and I think the size Pope perfectly with the card of like more of it as a disposition of holy shit, my ex was right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like the thing that kind of split us up was that was that my ex, the admirer, was obsessed with finding proof of these things.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm now staring at this creature, holy like, and there's like,
[SPEAKER_00]: You can see on his face, he has a very bad poker face.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: The all of the sentences of, I'm terrified what is going on.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe that son of a bitch was right.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is so goddamn hot that they're obsessive little weird that I was actually right about this thing.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I should apologize.
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I should send him a text.
[SPEAKER_00]: If I serve like, if I survive this.
[SPEAKER_00]: You up.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think like there's all of these feelings of
[SPEAKER_00]: all of these feelings are rushing in his face at this moment and you just kind of quietly like, what is it that you want?
[SPEAKER_03]: She just sort of sits down in the chair, opposite him with the patient between them, looks at him, I'm waiting.
[SPEAKER_00]: I, okay, okay, this is a, this is immediately a character detail that, like, throws, like, I, I feel like I've got Dr. Shaw on my back, but I feel like I know this man, because like, I think the second you say that, like, looks at you and looks at the patient and just kind of goes like, yeah, I think I am too, what are you waiting for?
[SPEAKER_00]: It feels easy to say in this moment, or if you'll maybe cliche it, cliche is not even the right word.
[SPEAKER_00]: Goch to say a miracle, but something, a change one way or the other, a period at the end of the sentence.
[SPEAKER_03]: I find periods are very irregular.
[SPEAKER_03]: You might be looking for a semicolon instead.
[SPEAKER_00]: now i think in this case and i think like he taps the the patient on their shoulder like i think that we are arriving at the very rare period at the end of a sentence uh... and i think uh... i'm gonna
[SPEAKER_00]: I can I make a roll here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, do it because I think the role that I want to make is the doctor Shaw's phone is about to buzz.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's fucking go.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see how doc I want to see I think I'm trying to
[SPEAKER_00]: What is what is the admirer even want here is it to war is it to warn him?
[SPEAKER_00]: I know I think it's like I was right I was right.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was right.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's really funny really is to look took to glow and flirt But it really is To glow flirt Texas.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a five.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that is a fair that is a pretty decisive failure on that That is a five which is I pretty pretty definitively
[SPEAKER_00]: So do I get to pick a card?
[SPEAKER_00]: You not only get to draw a card, you may take one of these two cards in my- No, yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: So I get to look at them before.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hold on.
[SPEAKER_00]: Seeing director draws one card at random, so now.
[SPEAKER_00]: OK. OK. OK.
[SPEAKER_00]: How does this go badly?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like the text of like you're never going to guess who I'm met.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're never going to guess what's real.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think like I don't think it's a text.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's a call.
[SPEAKER_03]: And I think he starts shouting into the phone.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's so great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's screaming into the phone.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the admirer is on the other side.
[SPEAKER_03]: So I think, well, who's screaming into the phone?
[SPEAKER_03]: The admirer, Dr. Shaw.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a good question.
[SPEAKER_03]: Chat?
[SPEAKER_03]: Dr. Hashtag, I think the doctor, I think, like, I think, yeah, so I think Dr. Shaw's very, very calmly turns away, excuse me, very calmly turns away, it's like, Jesus Christ.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think, like, all of those emotions that you saw in his face a minute ago,
[SPEAKER_00]: that this is the spark of the powder keg.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is the holy shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's true, and she's here, and I think that I'm about to watch somebody die.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what's happening.
[SPEAKER_00]: How the fuck did you know it?
[SPEAKER_00]: Shut up.
[SPEAKER_00]: I got a, and then like, he just got to meet Lisa's like, so I gotta go.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think what Lisa is the admirer is in his apartment with a glass of wine.
[SPEAKER_00]: and then just drops the wine in the glass shatters.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like it was such a like, I poured myself wine.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm making dinner.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna flirt with my ex.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna glow.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna win.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is the best fuck.
[SPEAKER_03]: So I think the monster's voice over the phone because she is such an old monster.
[SPEAKER_03]: It causes like that static and that crackle over the phone.
[SPEAKER_03]: The wine glass shatters, as the wine glass shatters, we sort of cut back to the monster going shut up.
[SPEAKER_03]: as the doctor like sort of quiets down and as on the other shot we see the admirer going to clean up the wine glass.
[SPEAKER_03]: We see the monster sort of fold herself over this patient.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: And fully tongue kiss this dying patient in order to get their last breath.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yes, yes, fuck up.
[SPEAKER_03]: But what you see is you see the the monster's face shift into this person's face in different sequences of their life as they pull that that last breath out.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to make a roll here.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think like I want to know like.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to make a roll here because I think that the closing beat of the scene, I think seeing that play out is so wonderful and I think a good closing beat is like, I'm just going to roll this dice immediately, that's a four, that's a, I, okay, I'm so happy I got a failure here because I think the final visual is car pulls up, and my era runs out the door bursts through the automatic doors, Dr. Shaw is already gone, the monsters are already gone, and like,
[SPEAKER_00]: I have missed this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is simply that I missed a moment to maybe protect someone that I love, maybe get more information about my obsession, all of it.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think there are two orderly as quickly, like quietly backing up person.
[SPEAKER_00]: That feels fantastic, delighted.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that is the end of, that is the end of phase one.
[SPEAKER_03]: Hell yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Which means now we're both gonna draw.
[SPEAKER_00]: a card from the top of the deck and you're going to look at that card and you are going to either add that card to your hand or replace your existing craving card if you feel like you need to change your your your mission statement nope I'm going to
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, great, great, great, great, so good.
[SPEAKER_00]: We now come to Phase 2.
[SPEAKER_00]: You will draw three additional cards from the top of the deck.
[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly the same as before.
[SPEAKER_00]: We will lay those cards down as mood cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you ever have more than eight cards, discard down to eight.
[SPEAKER_00]: If you ever have two or under draw up to three.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I've got my cards here.
[SPEAKER_03]: Let me see how many I have.
[SPEAKER_00]: I will be the active player.
[SPEAKER_00]: I will be the active player in scene one.
[SPEAKER_00]: You will be the scene director.
[SPEAKER_00]: Our questions.
[SPEAKER_00]: What are you cooking for the monster?
[SPEAKER_00]: Would you others think of your visit with the monster?
[SPEAKER_00]: And is anyone trying to stop you?
[SPEAKER_03]: So the invitation has been made.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, oh, I've got it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know exactly what it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, we see, uh, dejectedly our admirer walks out of walks out of the, uh, the hospital into a car.
[SPEAKER_00]: We see the car pull up at another care facility.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Dr. Shaw is in the passenger seat.
[SPEAKER_00]: and is like, and like, he's, you know, looks like he's age 10 years, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, and I think there is a, there's, there's this moment of all of that, like, flirt, gloating is out the window of just a sense of like, thank you for, thank you for, and he just goes like, do your thing drop me off and then delete my
[SPEAKER_00]: with an address, and I think it is the address of the building that you have been that you have claimed as your den.
[SPEAKER_03]: So rude.
[SPEAKER_00]: And a date and time next to the bed of another dying patient.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think it is a it is it is a it is a this is the call shot of call shots.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know you're going to be here You fucker We're having dinner I guess the more defying we're dealing with being known.
[SPEAKER_00]: It sucks real bad to think
[SPEAKER_03]: So, all right, so this is your scene where you're gathering ingredients.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, yep, I am cooking.
[SPEAKER_00]: I am preparing the meal.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: Let me see what do I have.
[SPEAKER_00]: What do I have?
[SPEAKER_03]: So, the atmosphere is passionate.
[SPEAKER_00]: Passion, it's great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Passion, it's real good.
[SPEAKER_03]: And we will say...
[SPEAKER_00]: I, yep, I've got a mood hard.
[SPEAKER_00]: I got a mood card here that's.
[SPEAKER_03]: So good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Real good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I'm just going to lay it down right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: If the mood is passionate, if the atmosphere is passionate, this is someplace beautiful.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I think the the meal that I am preparing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like I think that this is,
[SPEAKER_00]: This is, I am like, what's the even though, like, William Sonoma is not the right and not the right thing, but I don't think I'm classy enough to know what the actual reflective answer is of like, a classy grocery store and gallery and like, kitchen supply store and like, space where finearies are gathered, because like, Dan, what?
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, great.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's also Wegmans sort of which is a Wegmans.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm dropping I think the thing here is that I'm dropping money.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like this is like a I am preparing a meal that is fine.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, I have a lot of options here.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think we'll have a gutsy NPC.
[SPEAKER_00]: OK. All right.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gathering tablecloths.
[SPEAKER_00]: I am.
[SPEAKER_00]: I am buying like.
[SPEAKER_00]: fucking, like, peelers and, like, the, you have salad forks and, like, all of the oyster forks, oyster forks, different from the fish forks, you know, cheese slicers and a separate cheese tray, like, it is all of the things for, like,
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the thing that is maybe notable here is, like I am buying a coutry mall.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm not an artist.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm buying, I'm buying like vegetable platters.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, like, there's a lot of like, I'm buying the pieces to a meal before I buy the meal itself.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's going to be a sales employee, a younger kid probably in college.
[SPEAKER_03]: Wow, I can say that now, horrifying.
[SPEAKER_03]: But they sort of come up to you and look at your crisis.
[SPEAKER_03]: Can I help you with anything?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I think like he pauses because like I don't know how to ask this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think like I like there's like a genuine moment of like trying to find the words to ask this question and he goes like Do you sell?
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how to ask this but do you sell?
[SPEAKER_00]: Head napkins?
[SPEAKER_00]: Head napkins?
[SPEAKER_00]: head napkins, like a, like a, like a cloth napkin, he's going to serve ordal.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like that is large enough that you put it on your head.
[SPEAKER_03]: He's going to kind of look at you for a second to go.
[SPEAKER_03]: What is your, what is your, what is your character's like handled?
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, what is his hand?
[SPEAKER_03]: He's twitch.tv slash slash.
[SPEAKER_03]: What?
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I know you know.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know you know it's great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know you know.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fucking really goes hard because I know you know.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, I don't want to be.
[SPEAKER_03]: Are you?
[SPEAKER_03]: I know you know.
[SPEAKER_00]: And he like... Consciously, painfully.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna, in fact, I'm gonna roll here.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: to put away the part of my brain that wants to say yes to that question.
[SPEAKER_00]: That is a five, that's in a leaven, that is a great success, great, yes, good.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a four, God damn it, please take a card.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, great, great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I think like, ghost starts to go like, well, you know, I'm not right.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, my, you know, yeah, no, that's true.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god, I love your documentary on the reservoir of Iathen.
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought you, many of Iathens are so fucking cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: If I, I was, I was so worried that you were going to say Slender Man because everybody talks about the Slender Man one because it's the one that did numbers, but like, yeah, I mean, like, of course I did numbers.
[SPEAKER_00]: People were heard about you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, like, here's the problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: Here's the problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: There are problems that you have, you have art that is good, and then you have art that plays by the numb, that does the numbers.
[SPEAKER_00]: And like, the problem with being an artist in this year, in the year of our Lord, 20, 30, one, or one, I was talking about the monsters, not the art.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's, I think, like, stops himself dead in his tracks.
[SPEAKER_03]: No, but like, oh my god, the reservoir Leviathan documentary, it was so sick.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so sick, it was such a treat like research to that one.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, I'm just really glad that like people are appreciating that one because that was where my real passion was.
[SPEAKER_03]: That was so cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, when we found the body in the muck, like that was, I, you know, I actually put out a fallen log in my apartment complex is back yard just like, get one.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's what we love to hear.
[SPEAKER_03]: So like, what's this about head napkin?
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_00]: So like, okay, so I'm working on a video.
[SPEAKER_00]: Can I be in the video?
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think like the speed with which this man has pulled out
[SPEAKER_00]: a like touch touch okay on this on this screen release form to say you are already in this video and I just need your proof to show your face aliella's go all right now he goes over to the shelf like and i'm just explaining like there's this entity uh-huh researching uh-huh
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna do something that has never been done on my channel and I don't think any channel before.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna have dinner and I'm gonna get the story straight from the horse's mouth.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a weird insoluble shit because like no, no, no, it's not some weird insoluble shit This is like I thought you were better than that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll please excuse me I am absolutely better than that.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is not some weird insoluble shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is this is this is really huh I'm gonna roll here to see if I can like see if I can like if I can sell like I think see if I can find the find the thing to prove This is true That's an 11
[SPEAKER_00]: I hate this, I hate this game, that's a six, okay, great, I think like I think it is a like the embarrassment of like trying to explain this and knowing that like the problem is he's going to keep talking and he's going to keep saying things that like continue to drive this lower and lower and like
[SPEAKER_00]: I think like the embarrassment at the end of this is just so strong.
[SPEAKER_00]: That is like, I have to, I have to, like, I think it pushes it into a state of embarrassed pride and into a state of embarrassed determination of like, I'm going through with this because I need to prove that person wrong.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is not some inselable shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: like it is a it is a firm like i need to lock this is so what's the head napkins for well supposedly she is drawn to the dying breath of living things so i'm thinking oh shitty you're talking about a lamp nod oh oh
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, yeah, that does like freaky weird Greek nymphs the underworld and stuff.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: What the fuck?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know You're going on a date with a lamino.
[SPEAKER_00]: I yeah, I know
[SPEAKER_00]: That's so insoluble shit my ass that's so fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so sorry.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so fucking cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you I'm pretty excited about it I think we're gonna do some shit that's never been done before so I need a napkin to put on my head so that I can get like some kind of
[SPEAKER_00]: Probably maybe I don't know if like a lobster's don't breathe necessarily, but like something that we can put it from Oh, like wrap up like do kind of like an ortoll in but like an ortoll on sort of like an ortoll on okay, don't you know what?
[SPEAKER_00]: I'll take the I'll take the napkin and I'll take it to go, okay?
[SPEAKER_00]: And he that's a good place to ask Poor man sorry
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, great, is it getting hot in here?
[SPEAKER_03]: Is it just me?
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, incredible.
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, scene two.
[SPEAKER_00]: Scene two, face two.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is your layer fit for a human to visit?
[SPEAKER_00]: Must you merge into public to acquire something?
[SPEAKER_00]: Is anyone trying to stop you?
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, you are going to be the monster.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to be the active player and play one mood card.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to play two mood cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I've got two mood cards in front of me.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to see what they have to say.
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, oh, great.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really happy that these are two cards that I've got to play, because this is really fucking funny.
[SPEAKER_00]: The mood is absurd, and the energy is the demeanor of our NPC is shy.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to go with Subway Haunted.
[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's great.
[SPEAKER_03]: I know exactly what is happening because we are going into essentially the city's equivalent of the Barnes collection.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
[SPEAKER_03]: And she is going to point to the painting and go that one.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think there is a like.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a very, it's a very, uh, shy, very, like, reserved dosa.
[SPEAKER_00]: So since a good word for it, like, uh, older woman working, the, like, like, the doing, be doing the art dealing at this gallery and, like, kind of, like, stops is, like, uh, well, that one, uh, well, okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: The composition is exquisite.
[SPEAKER_00]: I truly agree isn't it beautiful like the the it's honestly it's the mastery of color for me I agree it's wonderful isn't it wonderful I like the way the the light is used to highlight the foreground of the painting and like I think there is this like Do you have any pre-referred light we
[SPEAKER_00]: Can I be a hundred percent honest with you?
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so glad that you asked and she like kind of like quietly like like usher's you back You know like back down into the basement where she like we just got a piece in earlier today that I think is remarkable You know, it's not really
[SPEAKER_00]: The owner say it's not really wallworthy, but I think the history of it far outweighs the... Tell me everything.
[SPEAKER_00]: Everything.
[SPEAKER_00]: And just of it, will the artist, you know, the piece itself is, and I think like...
[SPEAKER_03]: I think I would like to roll to see if this rambling intrigues the monster.
[SPEAKER_03]: That's a three, and that's a five.
[SPEAKER_03]: So that's nice.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's a success, because I think the story here is that I think she explains the story.
[SPEAKER_00]: The piece itself is fine.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think like you look at it, it's like a pretty boring landscape.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the artist, like the timing of it, you can see here in the corner, there's a date.
[SPEAKER_00]: And what we were able to find is that that date,
[SPEAKER_00]: is before the artist had a meltdown and killed like, went on like, killed four people and then himself.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think like, you take it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I knew that you would.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, you can't resist it.
[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like, you know, I mean, aesthetically, but she kind of like drops a lot of bills.
[SPEAKER_03]: on the table.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's like some ones.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's some hundreds.
[SPEAKER_03]: There's like maybe a gold bucket from Venice in there.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's mostly the correct currency.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like that so much.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think there's kind of like, like grabs it, looks at it's like,
[SPEAKER_00]: The money's great, but I'm also just happy that this piece is getting a new home.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I didn't.
[SPEAKER_03]: I love it.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not basement worthy.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's no.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's got, it's got history to it.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not history that they're going to put on the wall.
[SPEAKER_00]: So that some rich fuck can spend too much.
[SPEAKER_03]: I am enamored of this embossed madness that I will be placing in my domicile.
[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: I, I think, like, she, she grabs a foot stool.
[SPEAKER_00]: wheels it over, climbs on top of the footstool and places a hand on your shoulder.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm so glad this mean this you have made my day so she's sort of like you can hear the audible thought of her padding those moments and just you're welcome.
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, and I think like, this is just like, there's this, uh, kiss chat from the audience.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
[SPEAKER_03]: You are a most thoughtful and appropriate curator of these arts.
[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: I wish.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, yeah, no, I know what that.
[SPEAKER_00]: I know that I know the gasoline on the fire is that she got it just motors like I wish that the people that on this gallery saw that, but I'm glad that someone does give me their names and she kind and I think like quietly like thank you for coming
[SPEAKER_00]: to the Argyle St. Croix and Lufge and then Luch and O'Donne, he would gallery for fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, I would say Croix.
[SPEAKER_03]: He's been in a room with a painting once.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think she said she looks you dead in the eyes and follows the eyes as they kind of gift around a little bit of like,
[SPEAKER_00]: So that very pointedly as she steps down off of the footstool and then like goes back to quietly adjusting paintings on the wall.
[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you very much for having me at your gallery.
[SPEAKER_03]: I will remember this.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
[SPEAKER_00]: She's sort of, I think that feels like a great end to the scene.
[SPEAKER_03]: Y'all, I love it absurd.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Good energy.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like at the end of the like answer a family food good energy good energy good energy good energy energy all right we're going to roll one more time card from the top of our deck Sit with this for a long time.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're welcome I'm going to Put in the scarred my hand.
[SPEAKER_00]: I put in the scarred my hand.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to my hand
[SPEAKER_00]: And so now because it comes time to make our meal and have our just desserts.
[SPEAKER_03]: I want to know what your meal was because there is a huge part of the food thing.
[SPEAKER_03]: Can we just kind of go back and forth?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: What the meal is for sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned that the main event was the main event is, it's sorry, you have Jeff has to ask how it's pronounced out there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Order one.
[SPEAKER_00]: Order one.
[SPEAKER_00]: How are you getting an order one?
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think like it's the, so but I think that yeah, the main event is order on, um, and the thing on the side is really, it's a rich dish.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a heavy dish.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's an oily dish.
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's very firm hard cheeses.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of,
[SPEAKER_00]: There's like four different kinds of like firm sliced cheese laid out in a very nice almost charcuterie spray.
[SPEAKER_00]: Almost.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's not quite as fleshed out as like a proper charcuterie before.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sure.
[SPEAKER_00]: What else is, what else do we got on the spread?
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh gosh.
[SPEAKER_03]: So an order line is a game bird.
[SPEAKER_03]: Or technically it's a song bird, but it's a little, it's a little gamey and sweet.
[SPEAKER_03]: So, what do,
[SPEAKER_03]: audience, I'll take suggestions.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh.
[SPEAKER_00]: Citrus is good.
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm almost thinking like a hericovera, but with like lemon and garlic.
[SPEAKER_03]: That sounds great.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_03]: Dan, I'm looking at you.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to throw in a thinking of citrus like a lemon cello.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like a is being chilled.
[SPEAKER_00]: He's like being chilled.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's being so chill right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's very it's he's being chilled.
[SPEAKER_00]: The lemon chill is being chilled.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all it's all it's all.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all good.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all normal.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's that's there for that's there for drinking.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've got
[SPEAKER_00]: a very nice, thinking citrus, thinking a little sweet, thinking gamey, thinking what Jeff had for dinner last night, I really blew his ass away, like a like a like a like a like a a laotian king soup almost, like a coconut milk, like some spice, like something to like add some spice to also cut through some of those flavors and pair really nicely with those
[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to add in one more thing.
[SPEAKER_03]: And this is a shout out to my friends, Sarat.
[SPEAKER_03]: So like, you know, baked mushroom caps, right?
[SPEAKER_03]: You can do cheese in it.
[SPEAKER_03]: So there's a baked mushroom that Sarat has been promising me for a long time.
[SPEAKER_03]: And that is high Sarat.
[SPEAKER_03]: I love you.
[SPEAKER_03]: But that is instead of using the blue cheese, you use specifically Rogue River blue cheese.
[SPEAKER_03]: And then you put a salt and sugar mixture on top of it.
[SPEAKER_03]: So it caramelizes a little bit.
[SPEAKER_00]: OK, love that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's incredible.
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we've got our spread, it is spread out in this large empty apartment.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think.
[SPEAKER_00]: the detail I want to throw in is that like all of these like all of these rich succulent foods are served on a poker card table.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, absolutely.
[SPEAKER_00]: And that poker table was a last minute get of oh, there's not a table in it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh fuck shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: Great.
[SPEAKER_03]: No, but there's like a vintage like vintage vintage tablecloth and this massive painting is just hanging on one wall honestly overlooking.
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, the monster is, I think, trying to look nice.
[SPEAKER_03]: So it's very much like this.
[SPEAKER_03]: It's one of those silk slip dresses, but one of the ones you find on Xi'an, the gray.
[SPEAKER_03]: Great, sure.
[SPEAKER_03]: Like Ted Doll is like, oh, yes.
[SPEAKER_03]: This is what they wear formally.
[SPEAKER_00]: That goes, that's great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think.
[SPEAKER_00]: is trying to look, trying to look to its streamer nice, look back when describing it.
[SPEAKER_00]: So we're rocking the suit jacket.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're rocking the khakis.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're rocking the sneakers.
[SPEAKER_00]: Has leveled up to a nice dress shirt.
[SPEAKER_00]: So like not doing the t-shirt underneath.
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it wrinkled?
[SPEAKER_00]: Like he had wrinkled ass.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like there was a chance that it was all wrinkled it's not it's not it's not it's not wrinkled It's creased But it's creased horizontally It's it's out of the little plastic thing that you get it from at the jaxy panty like it
[SPEAKER_00]: those creases are crates not the gc of any five for forty five ninety nine it's it's a look it's a look I can't say it's a good one I can't say it's not one that I've rocked before brutal uh this is a place for radical honesty
[SPEAKER_00]: we've got our cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've got our meal.
[SPEAKER_00]: We've laid this out.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now we're going to take turns flipping our cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to start bikes, like we're each going to start by kind of expressing ourselves a little bit.
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to tell the admirer.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to tell the admirer why we were there one of the few where only to be welcomed into this layer like why am I still
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to tell you why it's so important that we have this meeting and then we're going to flip our cards and expose how the meal goes and if we are planning on betraying one another before we flip our final cravings cards to reveal the ultimate fates of our characters.
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_03]: Why don't you go first because I want to do my speech based on yours.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is a like, I think he kind of pauses, I know you know pauses and just
[SPEAKER_00]: There's something that I need you to note right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to look around.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I want you to notice what's not here.
[SPEAKER_00]: What could have been here?
[SPEAKER_00]: I had time to set up cameras.
[SPEAKER_00]: I had time to put a microphone in.
[SPEAKER_00]: I had time to fix myself with a nice lav mic.
[SPEAKER_00]: I realized,
[SPEAKER_00]: I need this for me more than I need this for that little fucker at the William Sonoma.
[SPEAKER_03]: Not the little fucker at the William Sonoma.
[SPEAKER_00]: I need this for me.
[SPEAKER_03]: Drew McGarry, is that you?
[SPEAKER_00]: I need this for me to prove that all of this was for something.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is the moment where I become who I meant to be.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is the moment that you become part of me in a way that will never be undone.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is important that we have this moment together.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I am coming here, not as I know you know, but as Roy Fitzsimmons guy from Ohio,
[SPEAKER_00]: all of the bullshit and edifice is set aside because I need to know that what I've been chasing for all of my life is real and I need to know that you are real and I am putting all of that reality on the table.
[SPEAKER_00]: This this is not for them and gestures towards a window.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is for us right now.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is my way of saying thank you for giving me some
[SPEAKER_00]: once in all of this chase that I have been taken.
[SPEAKER_03]: I let you here, because I saw that want.
[SPEAKER_03]: I saw that desire, that appetite without limit, for something, anything.
[SPEAKER_03]: But anything.
[SPEAKER_03]: that would fill that vast and outward-facing emptiness inside of you, and I am honored if for a moment to be the one to do that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fuck yeah, fuck yeah, fuck yeah, fuck yeah, fuck yeah, fuck yeah, fuck yeah, fuck yeah, all right, it's time to flip some cards, and as we flip the cards, these will reveal, so
[SPEAKER_00]: hearts in our hand, these are betrayal cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: These represent attempts to betray the other, either to kill you or devour me.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then our cravings card, if it is red, we'll mean that you've gone through with it, if it is black, means that you backed out at the last moment.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's possible that you throw all of your heart cards away.
[SPEAKER_00]: I won't know this until we start revealing cards, so please reveal your first card.
[SPEAKER_00]: That is the jack of spades.
[SPEAKER_00]: Talk to me about, do we, do we, do we discuss it?
[SPEAKER_00]: I think we'll just start flipping cards.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they just start flipping cards.
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's the five of hearts.
[SPEAKER_03]: Ouch.
[SPEAKER_03]: Nine of diamonds.
[SPEAKER_00]: Nine of wait.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fuck, no, hold on.
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't see it.
[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't see it.
[SPEAKER_00]: I did not.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was the queen of hearts.
[SPEAKER_00]: And those are all of my cards.
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, nine of cards.
[SPEAKER_03]: King of hearts.
[SPEAKER_03]: King of diamonds.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.
[SPEAKER_03]: And seven of hearts.
[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
[SPEAKER_00]: Great.
[SPEAKER_00]: And now we flip our final cravings card.
[SPEAKER_03]: Five of clubs and nine of clubs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Nine of clubs.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um.
[SPEAKER_00]: What does that mean for us?
[SPEAKER_00]: That means neither of none of our hearts cards are one notch away, which means that we don't both die.
[SPEAKER_03]: Correct.
[SPEAKER_00]: And our final cravings cards are black, which means that we don't go, which means neither of us goes through with it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, if you have hearts cards, and if Black, both characters attempt to betray or but are not ultimately able to see it through.
[SPEAKER_00]: What is that?
[SPEAKER_00]: I have to think about, like, I know, I think I know what I want mine to.
[SPEAKER_03]: I, I think I know what I want.
[SPEAKER_03]: You're still like to.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think he does have a love like on him just in case.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he does.
[SPEAKER_03]: But like halfway through the dinner.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is after hearing what you said like quietly reaches into his pocket and like flips off the like the the manual tape recorder interview with a vampire's dial that has been said in his pocket.
[SPEAKER_00]: flicks it off and is like, I can't do it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I can't expose, I can't, I was ready, I think like even, you know, his inner model because like I was ready to do it, but I can't do it.
[SPEAKER_03]: No.
[SPEAKER_03]: I think there are a couple of moments during the meal where she's leaning in almost as if to kiss you but is more leaning in towards your shoulder than towards your mouse.
[SPEAKER_03]: and she kind of plays it off, she's a nine-foot tall demon lady.
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, totally.
[SPEAKER_03]: And like, you know, they got some weird manners, that's fine.
[SPEAKER_03]: She goes with the order a lot of great gusto.
[SPEAKER_03]: She's just how it's such a good time with us.
[SPEAKER_03]: And I think when she comes up from it, her eyes as they shift are kind of like damp.
[SPEAKER_00]: Buck yeah great and I think like there is this um I think our closing beat is um our closing beat is kind of stands I think he stands up the end of the meal is over like walks towards the door and I think she reaches out one very large hand and puts it
[SPEAKER_00]: I think that we get, we see, like, turns around, he walked back towards one of these rooms, a door swings closed, and we see, like a social media post that just says, hey gang, episode, hey gang, episode was planned.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna scrap it for personal reasons.
[SPEAKER_00]: We'll catch up with a different story next time.
[SPEAKER_03]: I love that.
[SPEAKER_00]: Fuck yeah, the game was crazy.
[SPEAKER_00]: This game rip.
[SPEAKER_00]: Holy shit.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, I'm over the moon.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was sorry, this game fucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: This game fucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: This game fucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: This game very literally fucks.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this is incredible.
[SPEAKER_00]: What was your favorite moment from play?
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, oh wow, I did, can you go first?
[SPEAKER_03]: I have to think about it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because I also have to think of this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I always get it here blushing.
[SPEAKER_00]: I can think about it.
[SPEAKER_03]: Blushing and kicking my feet.
[SPEAKER_00]: I think.
[SPEAKER_00]: the laying out of the mood cards consistently set us up in such interesting and unexpected options.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think for me the real culmination of that was the scene in the gallery where we had these cues that was partially just because they were the cards I had in my mind.
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a little bit of a like, I don't really know where I'm going with this.
[SPEAKER_00]: But once we keyed into it like all of those pieces,
[SPEAKER_00]: snapped into place and saw satisfying fashion that we got this really wonderful charged sapphic moment that was that was delightful to watch and then also some shit old art dealers got murdered yeah real real wonderful
[SPEAKER_03]: I think you said, you mentioned it because I was thinking horns, I was thinking demon, I was thinking sakebus and then you mentioned the chaos monster and sort of having being able to play this monster that's like constantly shifting and changing and has this almost
[SPEAKER_03]: Dura divergent way of communicating that is very much like I'm going to use all of my high dollar words and I'm going to have this very like not affect less but low-affect voice.
[SPEAKER_00]: The way that you the way you communicated as the monster was gripping like it really every time I was like oh I got to just I
[SPEAKER_03]: I got drawn in of just like I got a continued to just like see how this plays out of a single time and it was because I wasn't really sure what to call the monster but then we sort of like had that whole like well she eats the breath of dying people and she's very tall and feminine and has this thing going on.
[SPEAKER_03]: And there are Greek hatey's nymphs called Lampnade's and they walk with Hermes when he takes souls to the underworld and kind of leaning on that, but as a cosmic horror was fun.
[SPEAKER_03]: I also just really liked every in the scene in the William Sonoma Wagmans.
[SPEAKER_03]: Larry, you're like, yeah, I've got a roll to see if I can.
[SPEAKER_03]: I had the thing is, I had the Queen of Hearts.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I had it, and the Queen of Hearts's ability is stop all wild guards for the rest of the face.
[SPEAKER_00]: And I kept being like, I should play this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I should play this, do like, reserve control.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it kept being like, it's way funnier to just like, let this continue to spiral for this board little lady.
[SPEAKER_00]: I loved him.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was adorable.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was great.
[SPEAKER_03]: He loved him.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was really wonderful.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was really fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: the the other car draw slash dice roll moment that really got me was doctor shock being having the morbid card and like at that moment of like i'm not asking the question like i kind of know what you're doing here and i kind of want to see it play out and then the dice roll of but the second that you call me like all of that that facade of four breaks down and he just loses it
[SPEAKER_00]: tremendous.
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was really fun.
[SPEAKER_00]: This was so good.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for having me.
