Speaker 1: Welcome to Tom's Polka Party. On today's program, we're going

to do something a little bit different. We're going to

go down a rabbit hole. I'm sure you've heard that

term before, and I'm sure you've gone down your own

rabbit hole. And for those that don't know what it means,

it's you start out thinking or doing something and it

just takes you on an adventure further and further and

further further beyond where you thought you were going to end.

And I believe the term going down the rabbit hole

comes from Alice in Wonderland. Well, the Wonderland of Tom's

Polka Party is going to take you down this rabbit

hole today, starting off with this piece of music. For me,

it was a simple clip from Facebook, and it started

with this piece of.

Speaker 2: Music market agree chance only really laming, not going to

be all love. It's got more place to go feeling down.

Speaker 3: You condemn, you conte having to turn off your life.

Speaker 4: See that girl?

Speaker 3: What did seemed to Dancy Green? You condence you can

tell having to.

Speaker 5: Turn off your life?

Speaker 4: See that girl, Watsu see take the dancing Queen.

Speaker 6: By you.

Speaker 7: This is a tone away.

Speaker 4: So I'm made o Mama, you must go to the

lad Yes, yes, the Mama Mama Mia here will go again?

Speaker 3: Bama?

Speaker 4: How can I resist Mama Mia?

Speaker 8: Does it tell again?

Speaker 1: My just so much?

Speaker 9: A mist?

Speaker 4: I want to talk all those things they've gone through.

So it's hurting me now is history?

Speaker 7: I now, my God?

Speaker 5: And that's what you're done to.

Speaker 4: Nothing more to say normal asl that takes it all

the small besides a wider.

Speaker 8: Less honesty.

Speaker 10: They were.

Speaker 4: The user has to fly listen last place?

Speaker 11: Why you like to play that Superba tupaies? I gonnapply

to me, but I won't feel.

Speaker 1: Like I always.

Speaker 12: Somewhere in the crowd.

Speaker 4: There's you.

Speaker 13: You.

Speaker 4: True programs are gonna blind me like I always because

you were in the Crowder's.

Speaker 1: And that was the Abba medley from d Lungower featuring

Monica Offsnick on the vocals, and that is what started

to be down this interesting little journey of today's program.

So I saw this little clip of d Lungower and

Mona on Facebook and it was just one of the

APPA songs. I said, I got to hear that whole medley.

I know it's got to be a whole medley recorded,

And I contacted my good friend Darien Oliver s at Escondido.

Darien is probably my local expert on over Kriner music,

and I'm like, where can I find that whole medley?

Darien and Darien and I were chatting back and forth,

and he led me to another group that does American

songs from the eighties and nineties in Oprachriner's style. Now,

the interesting thing is, my friend Darien is a purist

when it comes to Overchriner music. He only likes the

really true original way it's played and the songs from

Slafko Ausinik. But me, I like to hear songs done

in a style of polka music that I knew was

another piece of music. So that's the adventure of today's program.

And thanks again Darien for taking me down part of

this rabbit hole of Overkriner music that isn't quite Overkriner.

You'll understand as we go along. But the other significant

thing about that Abba medley there is Monica Absink is

Slavko Assnik's granddaughter. So the music is in the blood

and it continues in the family. And yeah, maybe most

folks are like, well that's not the purest thing, but

again it's keeping people interested in the music, and I

looked at this in the same way that I looked

at Brave Combo many years ago. I knew a lot

of regular polka folks didn't like Brave Combo, but I

remember some folks telling me, well, all that happens is

all these young kids come on the dance floor and

they're jumping up and down with their beers, and I go, yeah,

but whatever you like when you were twenty. But bands

like Brave Combo with their different style of poke music

bringing the younger generation. And I'm pretty sure that Monica

Asnik and De Lungower are bringing in younger people to

Overkriner style music. All Right, I've talked enough. Here is

another band that good friend Darien turned me on to

Global Criner, And as soon as I heard this song,

I knew I was in love with his band. Something stupid.

I know.

Speaker 14: I spend in line until you think you have the

time to spending even with me. If he goes some

place dance, I know that there's a chance you want

we're leaving with me.

Speaker 15: Then afterwards we travel to final love place and have

a drink or too, and then I'll.

Speaker 14: Go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like

I love you.

Speaker 4: I can see it.

Speaker 7: Any resposit say al you have told me floor.

Speaker 16: And though it's just a logie for me.

Speaker 10: It's.

Speaker 14: Practice every day to find some clever lines.

Speaker 5: To say, don't make the meaning of room.

Speaker 14: But then I think I'll wait.

Speaker 16: Until the evening gets later the other along with you.

Speaker 14: The time is right in perfectly filled my head and

stands it then another night.

Speaker 17: So the loon.

Speaker 15: Then I go and spott it all by saying something

stupid like I love seven day eight to find some clever.

Speaker 5: Answer say they make their meaning come true.

Speaker 14: But then I think I'll wait until the evening.

Speaker 18: It's leading along with you, time is writing for because

my head is starting brother all the night so blu.

Speaker 14: Then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid.

Speaker 12: Like love.

Speaker 6: Tony.

Speaker 19: When you hear a cowboy yellow lay the song of

open brainage hard leaps up to here is sparantee, did

do you have a weather?

Speaker 18: At the end, offense reframe why his voice lives in

a mordern way.

Speaker 4: The story as a story is handed down the history

of singing Calmon brain and not the trouvel to random

mean a stogger. He's a mugging my riding a ship.

Speaker 5: You've just been in the way up.

Speaker 4: There, the sky roll chucked out where the cowboy came down.

Then damn outside you made you say change, it's not

That's how.

Speaker 3: They hello.

Speaker 12: Hello, They got any add had a hold, they had

a mono. I don't know that.

Speaker 11: You long no udodio.

Speaker 12: Loo all.

Speaker 1: Global Criner, that's how the yodel was born. Now here's

a song that I really wanted to hear. How Global

Kreiner performed. It's a billy joel song, and I'm like, hmm,

I wonder what a soft billy joel song would sound

like as an over craner song. Well, Global Criner will

perform honesty.

Speaker 18: If you search for attendantness, it is a hard to fly.

You can't have alone you need to, But if fe

the fortune fulness, you might just as well be blind.

Speaker 4: It always seems saving so hot to.

Speaker 3: Stay.

Speaker 4: It's a sure lowly world. Every one so untrue.

Speaker 10: Steak is.

Speaker 4: Ever heard.

Speaker 16: See the need from you.

Speaker 7: I cannot wait to find someone say thy sympathy if

I well, I've heard out from say, but I don't.

Speaker 18: Want something pretty pose to tell me pretty lid.

Speaker 7: All I want is someone SIPI.

Speaker 19: St a chly world.

Speaker 4: Every want a soul unstream.

Speaker 3: Stay is.

Speaker 20: Mostly what I need from you. I can find a lover,

I can find a friend, I can have security to live, arrange.

Anyone can confer me with promises again.

Speaker 21: And and.

Speaker 15: Well on deeper sides, me don't be.

Speaker 16: To consume.

Speaker 7: A bonnes form.

Speaker 18: When when I won't said SI, tell me.

Speaker 7: Where else can I turn? Because you're the one that

I deepen.

Speaker 4: Bon Stay in the lonely world on a soul on street.

Speaker 16: Stay see what I need.
