OBL 5/19: Bills Continue OTAs, Under The Radar Game On The 2026 Schedule

Chris Brown and Steve Tasker began today's show with their reaction to the Sabres Game 7 OT loss to the Canadiens Monday night. They then updated the latest news from One Bills Drive as the team continued with OTAs. They went around the NFL and asked the listeners what is a possible under the radar game on the Bills 2026 schedule? Finally, we heard from head coach Joe Brady and QB Josh Allen as he met with the media.

Speaker 1: Look you boys do today.

Speaker 2: He is a feast for the Capitol fiend. The coup

Speaker 2: is in the kitchen, looks down the sideline.

Speaker 3: He's got kick kadd for a twenty three yard touchdown

Speaker 3: and it's intercepted jumping up in the airs.

Speaker 4: Be this these One Bill's.

Speaker 1: Live all right? Welcome back to another edition of One

Speaker 1: Bill's Live Life from the Bill Store on Avera Road.

Speaker 1: As uh, we continue our sojourn on location, and unfortunately

Speaker 1: the Saber season came to an end last night. Yeah,

Speaker 1: Steve and I both in attendance for Game seven, trying

Speaker 1: to juice up the mojo for the Sabers, and it's

Speaker 1: just it was not to be a loss overtime, which

Speaker 1: included a disallowed goal on what many believed was a

Speaker 1: quick whistle. Steve, we were talking about this yesterday with

Speaker 1: our show topic one and done. Playoff formats generally allow

Speaker 1: officiating to ruin your season because it's only one game,

Speaker 1: and I believe it was you that brought up the

Speaker 1: point that there's more margin forever in a seven game

Speaker 1: series where officiating in one game doesn't sink you. However,

Speaker 1: in Game seven it contributed.

Speaker 5: Certainly, I would and I'm not. Well, I guess I

Speaker 5: am in some way, shape or form. Certainly, it's just

Speaker 5: one more of these Buffalo sports memories we got to

Speaker 5: throw on the stack, right in both sports hockey and football.

Speaker 5: It's just you know, it's one, this one and that one.

Speaker 5: It's no goal, it's the wide ride, it's you know,

Speaker 5: it's you know, you just go down the list. So

Speaker 5: it's another one like that, and you think, well, if

Speaker 5: it's in, if it was just inconsistent or whatever, I

Speaker 5: would like to hear. And I haven't been interacting with

Speaker 5: Montreal fans at all, or do they think there were

Speaker 5: calls in that game that didn't go there that you know,

Speaker 5: like Buffalo got away with something in there. I'd be

Speaker 5: hard pressed to think of one. But I'm not looking

Speaker 5: for that, right, Yeah, we're not looking for that. So

Speaker 5: I might be. I'm not. I'm not might not be

Speaker 5: as sensitive to it as Montreal fan would be, Like

Speaker 5: we are here in Buffalo is sensitive to calls to

Speaker 5: go against the Sabers. I'd like to hear if they

Speaker 5: feel like there's any call that you know, it was

Speaker 5: like affected their outcome, you know, because uh, there were

Speaker 5: a couple in that game last night that. You know,

Speaker 5: the first goal for a hot minute, looked like it

Speaker 5: got kicked in. Certainly it went off skate. Certainly, the

Speaker 5: quick whistle on that other disallowed goal was a quick whistle.

Speaker 5: There was an off side or you know, the whole thing.

Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know, I can't remember the hooking

Speaker 5: penalty or interference penalty soccer did.

Speaker 1: Socer did kind of run into the goalie. In my estimation,

Speaker 1: Gevish was embellishing in a big way, just like every

Speaker 1: one of their players was diving.

Speaker 5: Like, let me just say this, they're like Italian soccer players.

Speaker 1: Those guys. Wow.

Speaker 5: Wow, this is a cross sport reference for you. So

Speaker 5: I'm yeah, it was a great series. Some of the

Speaker 5: guys I run with they were going into this series.

Speaker 5: It was a good matchup for both clubs. It was,

Speaker 5: and a lot of people thought it was a coin flip,

Speaker 5: and certainly Game seven it played out that way. But

Speaker 5: once again, it's just hard to be disappointed in the

Speaker 5: quality of that hockey series, the seven games, the overtime,

Speaker 5: the EBB and flow. I mean, Montreal certainly outplayed Buffalo

Speaker 5: a couple of games. Buffalo certainly outplayed Montreal in the.

Speaker 1: Time I thought the Savers had the better of the

Speaker 1: play last night overall.

Speaker 5: Yeah, and even in the overtime they did. Yeah, that

Speaker 5: the goal goes in on a fluttering puck on really

Speaker 5: the only shot you saw for like three of the

Speaker 5: three and a half of the five minutes that were

Speaker 5: the you know, the hockey game was all in their

Speaker 5: end of the overtime. So whatever, it's uh, like we said,

Speaker 5: it's one of those Buffalo sports moments that we've become

Speaker 5: all too familiar.

Speaker 1: Disappointment fatigue. Yeah, holy kill bit a little bit. I

Speaker 1: mean you could you almost feel like the better team

Speaker 1: didn't win last night, at least in terms of the

Speaker 1: Game seven performance overall.

Speaker 5: Yeah, in that game, they yeah, they got the Bill

Speaker 5: played them.

Speaker 1: At least. With the Bill's divisional loss at Denver, the

Speaker 1: Bills kind of did it to themselves, even though they

Speaker 1: were clearly the better team in that game. Therefore, turnovers

Speaker 1: really is what sunk them. So at least you could

Speaker 1: point to that and say, well, it's kind of hard

Speaker 1: to deserve a victory when you turn it over four

Speaker 1: times in a playoff game. Here, I felt like the

Speaker 1: Sabers didn't do anything catastrophically wrong to hurt their chances.

Speaker 1: The only thing I would say is I wish they

Speaker 1: would have taken more shots. In the first two periods.

Speaker 1: There were a countless number of incidences where they had

Speaker 1: a guy coming straight on net and they would pass

Speaker 1: it off to a guy with a worse angle wider

Speaker 1: and I understand the defender's closing on you. Maybe he's

Speaker 1: cut your angle off for equality shot, so you're trying

Speaker 1: to get it to somebody with a better angle. But

Speaker 1: inevitably that pass was too late. The guy's too wide,

Speaker 1: he's got no angle on a shot. Dobish has cut

Speaker 1: it down. And there were about a half a dozen

Speaker 1: of those instances where I thought, shoot it early, just

Speaker 1: get more pucks on the net with.

Speaker 5: This guy, because I get that too, and I'm not

Speaker 5: really hearing her there.

Speaker 1: I mean the guy.

Speaker 5: When you're on the ice and you're when you're in

Speaker 5: competitional light, you do what you think is gonna work,

Speaker 5: uh in the moment, and certainly an extra pass here

Speaker 5: in extra press. Sometimes it does work, other times it's not.

Speaker 5: And I get it too that you know, the more

Speaker 5: shots on net, the more chances you have to actually

Speaker 5: put one in. They shot around the net a lot

Speaker 5: last night. Missed the net a few times on shots,

Speaker 5: but they also had some really quick, really quality chances

Speaker 5: that Dobish was up to. It seemed like they were

Speaker 5: either putting it right in the middle of his crest

Speaker 5: or they were missing the net, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1: He had one unbelievable save. Yeah, Thompson the Washington so

Speaker 1: very nice. That was something else.

Speaker 5: And he played well. Dobish was a good goal of me.

Speaker 5: He played really good in this series and I and it's.

Speaker 1: Got multiple game seven victories.

Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, so uh there you go.

Speaker 1: Fortunately for us, we could turn the page and the

Speaker 1: Bills are on the practice field OTAs again today. They

Speaker 1: started yesterday. Joe Brady addressed the media. We'll have his

Speaker 1: comments for you a little bit later on in the show,

Speaker 1: but the Bills are on the practice field, up and

Speaker 1: running here for the first week of OTAs. Joe Brady,

Speaker 1: as a first time head coach, gets a few more

Speaker 1: practices as do the other new head coaches, so he's

Speaker 1: excited about that. But like I said, we'll have you

Speaker 1: hear directly from Buffalo's new head coach this season a

Speaker 1: little bit later on in the show to see just

Speaker 1: what is on his to do list, at the top

Speaker 1: of his priority list this time of year. Let's go

Speaker 1: around the NFL and it is official. Nashville will be

Speaker 1: the host of Super Bowl sixty four in twenty thirty.

Speaker 1: NFL owners approved it at the owners meetings today. The

Speaker 1: new Tennessee Titans Stadium will host it. That stadium schedule

Speaker 1: to open for the twenty twenty seven season next year.

Speaker 1: Minnesota Vikings have confirmed that Minneapolis will host the twenty

Speaker 1: twenty eight NFL Draft. That's more of something that is

Speaker 1: presented to the owners. They don't really vote on it,

Speaker 1: but the Vikings confirmed, yes, Minneapolis is hosting the draft

Speaker 1: in twenty twenty eight.

Speaker 5: Oh, what kind of process that is for getting a draft?

Speaker 5: I know that for the Super Bowl it's it's a

Speaker 5: large chunk of money to get the super Bowl ordered

Speaker 5: to your city. That's yeah, so.

Speaker 1: Well, I know. Our head honcho Pete Guelli has said

Speaker 1: that they would the organization would be interested in hosting

Speaker 1: a draft at some point in the future. So we'll

Speaker 1: see if they get more involved in that process going forward.

Speaker 1: As we know, the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks are

Speaker 1: up for sale. Not a common occurrence for a championship

Speaker 1: team to be on the market. The Paul Allen estate,

Speaker 1: which owns the team, is expected to fetch up to

Speaker 1: ten or maybe even eleven billion dollars for the club,

Speaker 1: which would be more than the LA Dodgers went for.

Speaker 1: So what person could take on that kind of cost? Steve?

Speaker 1: According to polymarket, the prediction site, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos

Speaker 1: is the favorite currently to buy the team at twenty

Speaker 1: five percent. Ten billion dollar price tag wouldn't make him blink,

Speaker 1: currently valued it over two hundred and eighty billion on

Speaker 1: his own. Bezos turned Amazon, as we know, from a

Speaker 1: homegrown business in Seattle into the global giant it is today.

Speaker 1: Bezos was said to be interested in the Washington Commanders

Speaker 1: when they were up for sale a few years ago.

Speaker 1: Did not land that team, which went to the Harris

Speaker 1: ownership group. So we'll see what happens here. I think

Speaker 1: more and more the singular owners in the league no,

Speaker 1: it's going to be harder and harder to find multi

Speaker 1: billionaires to buy NFL clubs, and so they've become more

Speaker 1: open to loosening the restrictions. I think a primary owner

Speaker 1: only needs to have the financial wherewithal to purchase thirty

Speaker 1: percent of the club. Now, oh really Yeah, so as

Speaker 1: long as you have an owner candidate who he might

Speaker 1: have a team for his CONSORTIU him to buy the club,

Speaker 1: but he only has to have the funding necessary for

Speaker 1: thirty percent of the value of the club.

Speaker 5: Yeah.

Speaker 1: I don't know that you'd because that that'll Steve. We're

Speaker 1: watching people get a ten percent equity stake and it

Speaker 1: costs them a billion for that. You know, you don't

Speaker 1: have a lot of people walking around the earth.

Speaker 5: Right, I get it. Sure. I don't know though that

Speaker 5: when you've got you know, two hundred and eighty billion

Speaker 5: dollars that you're not looking for something to park some

Speaker 5: of it somewhere where you know it's going to grow. Yeah,

Speaker 5: the NFL is the joint right right, You're hit.

Speaker 1: To twelve percent revenue growth every year.

Speaker 5: It's just it's like it's like a t bill, you know.

Speaker 5: I mean just it's like, you know, I mean, it's

Speaker 5: like it's like the sun coming up. It's going to grow.

Speaker 5: And if you've got that kind of money and you

Speaker 5: need a place to put it where you don't have

Speaker 5: to worry about it, it's going to grow. And then

Speaker 5: when you can cash out whenever you want and make

Speaker 5: a profit and make a profit. So yeah, that's maybe

Speaker 5: you don't want to split up the money. You don't

Speaker 5: want just thirty percent of it.

Speaker 1: Well, if you're just Jeff Bezos, you can just do

Speaker 1: it on your own exact write a check. Uh. Deshaun

Speaker 1: Watson and Shador Sanders split the first team reps in

Speaker 1: team drills at Cleveland Brown's OTAs, marking the first look

Speaker 1: of a quarterback competition between those two players as the

Speaker 1: Browns continue they're decades long search for a franchise quarterback.

Speaker 1: A year ago, it was thought by some that Watson

Speaker 1: had played his final snap in Cleveland, possibly the NFL,

Speaker 1: recovering from two tears to his achilles after missing the

Speaker 1: entire twenty twenty five season. Dylan Gabriel, the team's third

Speaker 1: round pick last year, started six games. Shedor Sanders, the

Speaker 1: fifth round pick last year, started seven games. They went

Speaker 1: four and nine combined, and each posted a QBR that

Speaker 1: would have ranked last among qualified players. Watson entering the

Speaker 1: final year of his fully guaranteed two hundred and thirty

Speaker 1: million dollar contract, Brown's owner Jimmy Haslam, when interviewed and

Speaker 1: asked about the Watson acquisition, did not pull any punches.

Speaker 1: He called it a big swing and.

Speaker 5: A miss that that might still be another punches. That's

Speaker 5: not really being as bluntly honest as it could be.

Speaker 1: That's big swing and a miss. For an owner to

Speaker 1: say that that's prettywing.

Speaker 5: A miss, that's yeah, that it was. It was a

Speaker 5: huge mistake. They got absolutely vilified when they signed the

Speaker 5: Guide due to his off the field issues. Then to

Speaker 5: have him come in play bad, then get hurt, then

Speaker 5: get hurt again, and what seemed catastrophic injuries the achilles

Speaker 5: and re injuring it before he could even get back

Speaker 5: on the field. I mean, it's been one catastrophe after

Speaker 5: another for the Browns. And then they are like the

Speaker 5: Bills have been in the last decade, in the beginning

Speaker 5: stage of trying to get a new stadium themselves. It's

Speaker 5: a mud hole right now they're trying to free themselves

Speaker 5: from and now they've gotten these two guys competing to

Speaker 5: try and find.

Speaker 1: It from one mud hole to another. Steve Arizona Cardinals

Speaker 1: quarterback Jacoby Brissett continued his contract holdout as the club

Speaker 1: held its first OTA under new head coach Mike Lafleur.

Speaker 1: Lafuller said the discussions about a reworked deal for the

Speaker 1: twenty sixth season are quote the same as where we

Speaker 1: were a few weeks ago. He added he has been

Speaker 1: in contact with Brissette, but declined to go into further

Speaker 1: detail about their conversations. Lafour pointed out that Monday's practice

Speaker 1: was voluntar Harry and that Brissette's experience will help him

Speaker 1: understand what the Cardinals are doing offensively under the first

Speaker 1: time head coach Steve I think we can all agree

Speaker 1: that Jacoby, burs said is not a franchise quarterback, and

Speaker 1: yet the Arizona Cardinals, who I believe drafted Carson Beck

Speaker 1: in the draft, the Miami quarterback Jacoby Brissette is holding out,

Speaker 1: Like I get it. Do you know what I'm saying here?

Speaker 1: This is not a top of the line guy, but

Speaker 1: he's got him between a rock and a hard place

Speaker 1: with a rookie being the only other guy on the

Speaker 1: quarterback roster of any ILK he is there, so he's

Speaker 1: gonna ask for more money.

Speaker 5: He's their only option and he and he knows it.

Speaker 5: He knows it, and he's banged around the NFL for

Speaker 5: a while. He got in, let's face it, he got

Speaker 5: on the field last year in Kyler Murray's injury, and

Speaker 5: they refused to put Kyler mur back on the field.

Speaker 5: So you can say what you want, Jacoby brings something

Speaker 5: to the table. The guy like Kyler Murray gives you

Speaker 5: a high floor with all his talent. Kyler Murray doesn't

Speaker 5: give you. And that is a teammates you actually want

Speaker 5: to play with. There's something to be said. There's a

Speaker 5: lot to be said for that. Particularly you're talking to

Speaker 5: a guy like me who was a contributor.

Speaker 1: You know.

Speaker 5: Okay, so you know, not a star player, but you

Speaker 5: gotta have guys that You've got to be a guy

Speaker 5: at that position in quarterback who elevates guys. Kyler Murray

Speaker 5: did not do that. As good as he is physically,

Speaker 5: Jacoby is all of that without the elite talent.

Speaker 1: That's why I said it gives you a high floor.

Speaker 1: So they also have Gardner Minshew there, and as I said,

Speaker 1: Carson Beck was their third round pick.

Speaker 5: So Minshew's not nothing. But even Jacoby Brissett is a

Speaker 5: better option. And it is absolutely fact the Arizona Cardinals

Speaker 5: football team last year played better with Jacoby Brissette than

Speaker 5: they did with Kyler Murray. They were more productive, they

Speaker 5: looked better, they were more functional that whatever metric metric

Speaker 5: you want to use, they were better with him. And

Speaker 5: they were paying Kyler Murray all that money to sit

Speaker 5: on the bench. Jacoby says, well, he just give me

Speaker 5: that money, you know, and it doesn't. You don't have

Speaker 5: to give Jacoby set a ten year contract. Goodness gracious,

Speaker 5: give him a one year deal with and guarantee the

Speaker 5: money so you can escape it if you want. I

Speaker 5: don't know. I give him the money. He's he's your

Speaker 5: best option. You just drafted a quarterback this year. You're

Speaker 5: gonna go back in the quarterback pool next year and

Speaker 5: try and get one of those quarterbacks that may or

Speaker 5: may not come out. I think it's crazy. Jacoby's doing

Speaker 5: the right thing in my opinion. I'm not really I'm

Speaker 5: not a holdout guy. But when you got to lever,

Speaker 5: use it, pull it, and that's what he does. That's

Speaker 5: what he's doing.

Speaker 1: I'm he and he he's been a good soldier his

Speaker 1: whole career.

Speaker 5: So and he's been a really good soldier for Arizona.

Speaker 1: I can't that's which is kind of a fruitless situation.

Speaker 5: That's the bottom line. That's the bottom line for him.

Speaker 5: They were better with him on the field last year

Speaker 5: than without him. They were better with him than their

Speaker 5: first overall draft pick, Kyler, who's an established guy. Now,

Speaker 5: Kyler may go up to Minnesota and play great, but

Speaker 5: that's but the Arizona Cardinals were better without him. So

Speaker 5: I'm Jacoby Brissette is doing what I think every QB

Speaker 5: would do. He's got to get it while he can

Speaker 5: get it. He's not gonna be around much longer.

Speaker 1: The Miami Dolphins have announced they'll be holding joint practices

Speaker 1: before each of their first two preseason games with their opponents,

Speaker 1: one against the Washington Commanders and the other against the

Speaker 1: New York Giants. The Bills, by the way, have a

Speaker 1: joint practice scheduled with the Cleveland Browns prior to their

Speaker 1: road preseason game in Cleveland. Giants running back Camp Scataboo

Speaker 1: noted that he's not ready to hit the field yet,

Speaker 1: but plans to be there before Week one against the

Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys. A brutal Week eight leg injury wiped out

Speaker 1: the rest of his rookie season, and it kept the

Speaker 1: running back in rehab through the start of offseason work.

Speaker 1: Now entering his second season, Skataboo downplayed his first campaign

Speaker 1: and offered outsized expectations for his second. Quote, I do

Speaker 1: not consider that successful for me, Scataboo said of his

Speaker 1: rookie year. I had four hundred yards on one hundred carries.

Speaker 1: When I play seventeen plus games this year, it's gonna

Speaker 1: be three hundred carries for over two thousand yards. That's ambitious.

Speaker 1: I think he's a little cuckoo for cocoa puffs. All

Speaker 1: I consider is that bless his heart. Good for you, Bud.

Speaker 1: Good to have goals.

Speaker 5: Go ahead, go do it, Go do it.

Speaker 1: So we'll see pull it off.

Speaker 5: An engaging guy, and personally he's got a big personality.

Speaker 5: He's a great team guy, great guy to have in

Speaker 5: the locker room, and he plays good. The guy plays good.

Speaker 5: He's not he's not just a personality. He's a player.

Speaker 5: So it's gonna be fun to watch him come back.

Speaker 5: Although it was it was a bad injury, but eh, guys,

Speaker 5: guys like that can come back. It's not it's not

Speaker 5: a career end. Or He'll be back and he'll play

Speaker 5: and he probably will play well. I don't know two

Speaker 5: thousand yards. Well, who cares come back and play?

Speaker 1: Well he does, I'll eat all the crow we got

Speaker 1: over here.

Speaker 5: So absolutely, I think that absolutely, particularly give him the

Speaker 5: fact he can't do OTAs he's not gonna be ready

Speaker 5: till week one. I mean, you know, it's a big ask.

Speaker 5: But some guys need that kind of stuff out there.

Speaker 5: They put it out their care let's go I want

Speaker 5: to I'm gonna do that, and they work towards it.

Speaker 5: And then if you, let's face it, the philosophy of

Speaker 5: that is, I'm going for three hundred carries in two

Speaker 5: thousand yards. Let's three hundred carries in two thousand yards.

Speaker 5: Then if you miss and you only go two hundred

Speaker 5: and fifty carries and fourteen hundred yards, still pretty good year. Yeah,

Speaker 5: you know, that's kind of what you're shooting for.

Speaker 1: So your failure is still success.

Speaker 5: Your failure is it makes makes you a success exactly

Speaker 5: and a.

Speaker 1: Bit of an embarrassing situation Steve for the NFL SEE

Speaker 1: had a wide receiver Jackson Smith, and Jigba, the reigning

Speaker 1: Offensive Player of the Year, had his award delivered to

Speaker 1: him by the league. There was one problem on his

Speaker 1: trophy it read Jackson Smith and Jigba NFL Defensive Player

Speaker 1: of the Year. Smith and Jigba is a wide receiver

Speaker 1: who plays on offense. I'm sure they can buff out

Speaker 1: the tail on the bottom of the E, round out

Speaker 1: the D and make it read offensive. I have confidence

Speaker 1: in there. What would you call that? A goldsmith, silversmith, blacksmith?

Speaker 1: What are we doing here?

Speaker 5: Is so bad?

Speaker 1: Kinda buff that out?

Speaker 5: That's so bad? What rock do you have to live

Speaker 5: under as a trophy maker not to know the difference.

Speaker 1: I'm curious to see what Miles Garrett got. Does his

Speaker 1: say Offensive Player of the Year?

Speaker 5: Good question? Haven't heard from him.

Speaker 1: I wonder if they just mixed them up. My guess

Speaker 1: is it's already there and they have to fill in

Speaker 1: the name, and they put the wrong name on that one.

Speaker 1: So I think there's a very good chance that Miles

Speaker 1: Garrett's Read's Offensive Player.

Speaker 5: Of the Year. So what do you do? Do you

Speaker 5: trade trophies? You can't do that because your name's on it?

Speaker 1: Well you can. I think you might be able with

Speaker 1: a good engraver to switch turn that D to it.

Speaker 5: Oh, I think you keep it just like it is

Speaker 5: and then you say I was so good a wide receiver.

Speaker 5: I was the defensive player of the year. To go,

Speaker 5: that's how good I was. They gave me a reward

Speaker 5: for being a defender because I was so good. Yeah,

Speaker 5: that's actually why do we do it?

Speaker 1: I don't know nobody, Like there's no air to find

Speaker 1: out if the league does that engraving or if the

Speaker 1: Associated Press sends it out whoever whoever.

Speaker 5: Made that trophies under twenty five years old.

Speaker 1: I'm just going on, that's woww it'ts Steve.

Speaker 5: That's somebody who has no oversight, has shade at gen

Speaker 5: Z and they just never they don't even care. Wow.

Speaker 1: We just okay, you got to live under a rock. Yeah,

Speaker 1: you have to have no connection to NFL football, right,

Speaker 1: Like that's kind of the right, that's kind of what

Speaker 1: you're dealing with.

Speaker 5: It's ridiculous.

Speaker 1: Uh So that is around the NFL, and uh I'm

Speaker 1: sure we'll see in the coming days as to whether

Speaker 1: or not Jackson Smith and Jigba's trophy is corrected or

Speaker 1: renewed or replaced something. Yeah, a topic of discussion for

Speaker 1: you today. With the Sabers season now over, we thought

Speaker 1: we would help everyone refocus a bit, all right, and

Speaker 1: the focus here is the Bill schedule. You can't think

Speaker 1: for a while about Sabers game, so why not pivot

Speaker 1: and think about Bill's games? Right? So the Bill schedule,

Speaker 1: as we know, came out last. What is a possible

Speaker 1: under the radar game on the Bills twenty twenty six

Speaker 1: season schedule? Maybe a game that might be sneaky tough,

Speaker 1: maybe a game that you don't deem as terribly entertaining,

Speaker 1: but could be a much tighter contest than people realize.

Speaker 1: So you let us know at one Bills Live. What

Speaker 1: is a possible under the radar game on the Bills

Speaker 1: schedule for twenty twenty six? Did you hear that upset

Speaker 1: Sabers fan back there in the store? I did, guys lose?

Speaker 1: The poor little guy's losing his mind. Still can't get

Speaker 1: over it.

Speaker 5: Here's what I think. Oh, yes, way in Steve, I

Speaker 5: think the December thirteenth game eight to twenty pm Monday

Speaker 5: Night Football? Right? Is it Monday Night Football or Sunday

Speaker 5: Night Football? I'm not sure which which game? Are you

Speaker 5: looking at the Green Bay Packers? Yes, that's Sunday Night Football.

Speaker 5: Sunday Night Football is a precursor to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 5: Those two teams. Wow, they'll meet again two months later.

Speaker 1: Wow, Steve's already got his super Bowl prediction on the whiteboard.

Speaker 1: Bill's Packers.

Speaker 5: I don't know. I just pulled that out. I don't

Speaker 5: know if that's true. Okay, I do because all these

Speaker 5: other games Houston Detroit, because the Houston Texas, it's like

Speaker 5: a death valley for Josh and these guys to go

Speaker 5: down there and lose in some fantastic way. Detroit Chargers.

Speaker 5: The Chargers are gonna.

Speaker 1: Charge that early in the season, they'll.

Speaker 5: Be charging No, but they're gonna be here. It's gonna

Speaker 5: be a problem for them. Coming to East is hard

Speaker 5: for those teams. Now, the Rams could be in the

Speaker 5: way of that. That could be also a but it's

Speaker 5: early in the season. I think when you get down

Speaker 5: here to the Green Bay Packers game against Buffalo, those

Speaker 5: are gonna be two teams that you're gonna know. They're

Speaker 5: gonna be fully formed by week fourteen. You're gonna know

Speaker 5: who they are.

Speaker 1: That's true.

Speaker 5: And those two teams have expectations going in where if

Speaker 5: you know, a couple of things break their way, or

Speaker 5: you know, if they go well, stay. Hell, all the

Speaker 5: stuff we know about kind of flips their way, or

Speaker 5: at least they're consistent. Yeah, they got they got the

Speaker 5: juice to get get there, right. So I think that

Speaker 5: game in week fourteen, Yeah, it's got a chance to

Speaker 5: be a kind of all of a sudden by the

Speaker 5: time we get there. You know, in week fourteen, Bills

Speaker 5: have played thirteen games, and what if they're sitting there

Speaker 5: at you know, twelve and one or something like that,

Speaker 5: and the Green Bay is twelve and one, you know

Speaker 5: that kind of thing. I think that's got a chance

Speaker 5: to you know, I think both those clubs are gonna

Speaker 5: think they're gonna act like they got a chance to

Speaker 5: get the one seed in the conference or whatever they're

Speaker 5: and I think it'll be a real measuring stick for

Speaker 5: both those clubs week fourteen by the time we get there.

Speaker 1: Okay, all right, So that's Steve's pick. What is yours?

Speaker 1: What is your under the radar game? On the Bills

Speaker 1: twenty twenty six regular season schedule. We have to take

Speaker 1: a break here, but hit us up at one Bills

Speaker 1: Live or if you're in the neighborhood, stop by the

Speaker 1: Bills store, hop on our live mic and let us

Speaker 1: know what you think for an under the radar game

Speaker 1: on the Bill schedule this coming season. We're back in

Speaker 1: a flash here on One Bill's Live. All right, welcome

Speaker 1: back to One Bill's Live. Chris Brown, Steve Tasker, and

Speaker 1: we're asking you today as we flip from Sabers to Bills,

Speaker 1: what is possible under the radar game on the Bills

Speaker 1: twenty twenty six. Maybe it's a game that you believe

Speaker 1: will be harder for the Bills than most anticipate. Maybe

Speaker 1: you have low expectations for a team that many people

Speaker 1: might think looks difficult for the Bills this year. You

Speaker 1: let us know at one Bills Live on the tweet

Speaker 1: sheet and we'll get your comments on the air with us.

Speaker 1: I will share mine in a little bit, but let's

Speaker 1: go to the tweet sheet now. Jim leads is off

Speaker 1: and he says at Houston, nobody was thinking about this

Speaker 1: game for a week one when we were guessing the schedule.

Speaker 1: Get the monkey off our back by playing CJ. Stroud

Speaker 1: with a defense he will not have seen yet, get

Speaker 1: a road game out of the way, conference game, big game.

Speaker 1: I like the idea of c J. Stroud going in

Speaker 1: blind that appeals to me.

Speaker 5: Yeah, so it's Josh though.

Speaker 1: Yeah, but that defense is not going to change much

Speaker 1: under Draco Ryans, not as much as the Bills defense is.

Speaker 5: That's very true, And it would be a bigger win

Speaker 5: than it would be a loss.

Speaker 1: Just by virtue of the fact that they haven't won

Speaker 1: down there.

Speaker 5: It's I don't you can have those those places where

Speaker 5: you go to and you struggle to play that it happens.

Speaker 5: It would be a big win though.

Speaker 1: Bills haven't won there since two thousand and six.

Speaker 5: That's right. That would be like, okay, it would give

Speaker 5: up Bills fans something to say, Hey, this finally got

Speaker 5: those guys just a different team. This is a different team,

Speaker 5: let's go. That would be a huge vibe boost.

Speaker 1: The last two games down there have been tight. They

Speaker 1: lose on a sixty one yard field goal Bykyami Fairbairn

Speaker 1: two years ago. Josh has the ball at the end

Speaker 1: of the game, but he's on his own three yard

Speaker 1: line and they go in complete and complete and complete

Speaker 1: game over.

Speaker 5: I get it. Like I said, though, yeah, Bills are

Speaker 5: Bills are in a ton of tight games. They're always

Speaker 5: in a tight game because Josh is hard to beat.

Speaker 5: We were talking about this today or yesterday. Josh scores. Yea,

Speaker 5: they score like nobody else. They score like nobody else does.

Speaker 5: And because of that, they're hard to beat, even if

Speaker 5: they're playing bad. I mean seriously, they're hard to beat.

Speaker 5: So they're in a ton of tight games. And but

Speaker 5: let's face they got down there. Go back to the

Speaker 5: first playoff game Josh ever played in that they're in

Speaker 5: halftime sixteen sixteen to seven. They come out in the

Speaker 5: third quarter and the Houston return guy.

Speaker 1: Oh, I know what you're gonna do, flips the.

Speaker 5: Ball to the official before he takes a knee, doesn't

Speaker 5: do it, which is illegal, doesn't down the ball, Bill's

Speaker 5: cover it. Touchdown Buffalo no head of head of Alberto

Speaker 5: river Run from New York, the vice president of the

Speaker 5: NFL Officiating swoops in and says, no, no, the list give

Speaker 5: them back that that was just a mistake by the guy.

Speaker 5: Let's not make them pay for that. He takes the

Speaker 5: touchdown off the board, and it's illegal to do that.

Speaker 5: It's not in the rules. He can't do that. He

Speaker 5: did it anyway, and a year later he's out of it.

Speaker 5: He retires because he totally totally went outside the rules

Speaker 5: of the game in order to give Houston a free.

Speaker 1: Touchdown that they take away.

Speaker 5: Take away a touchdown for the Bills.

Speaker 1: So and they lose by three in overtime.

Speaker 5: So there you go. Yeah, it's it's not a good

Speaker 5: place to play.

Speaker 1: Yeah.

Speaker 5: Uh, and there's you know, that's one of the other

Speaker 5: things we can put on the pile with last night's

Speaker 5: game seven and the Sabers and all the stuff that

Speaker 5: the Bills have been through in the last half. So

Speaker 5: it's it's one more thing he goes on that pile.

Speaker 5: Houston's a part of it. Yeah, it would be a

Speaker 5: bigger win than it would be a loss because of

Speaker 5: the fact that would give you a sense as a

Speaker 5: Bills fan that oh wow, they're a little bit different

Speaker 5: now they got some things together.

Speaker 1: It would it would be a very early measuring stick

Speaker 1: for Joe Brady in his first year because there coach,

Speaker 1: because let's not forget this, Joe Brady as head coach again,

Speaker 1: in his first game gets to go against the number

Speaker 1: one defense in football from last year.

Speaker 5: Yeah.

Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that that's a tough one right out of

Speaker 1: the shoot.

Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a tough schedule though overall, right, you're not

Speaker 5: getting any breaks anyway.

Speaker 1: Andrew on the tweets sheet says, under the radar move.

Speaker 1: For me, we know this will most likely be a

Speaker 1: pass first offense. So with that in mind, Cooks will

Speaker 1: be the obvious cook will be the obvious starter at halfback.

Speaker 1: So who becomes what becomes the role of Ray Davis?

Speaker 1: Does he do more special teams or does he fill

Speaker 1: out a different surprise role as a fullback. He's not

Speaker 1: going to be a fullback. He's too small for that.

Speaker 1: I think Ray Davis's role is what it's been, your

Speaker 1: backup running back and you're a primary kick return.

Speaker 5: Andrew, change the subject. It's not about he did.

Speaker 1: It's not about looking for an under the radar game

Speaker 1: of Bill's schedule.

Speaker 5: Under the radar move, ray Davis is not an under

Speaker 5: the radar.

Speaker 1: Cook was the obvious starter last year when he led

Speaker 1: the league in rushing. So I don't think any of

Speaker 1: that changes from last year.

Speaker 5: Fifteen million dollar twelve or whatever, twelve million dollars a

Speaker 5: year contract and was leading rusher in the NFL, so

Speaker 5: he was the starter.

Speaker 1: Yeah, to me, there's nothing to see there. Yeah, I agree,

Speaker 1: And they have two fullbacks on the roster right now.

Speaker 1: Ben Van Sumerin, who was the free agent pickup from

Speaker 1: Philly didn't play all last year due to a knee

Speaker 1: injury or almost all of last year. And then you

Speaker 1: have Jackson Acker, who is the undrafted rookie free agent

Speaker 1: signing out of Wisconsin who is a little bit more

Speaker 1: of an athlete than people might imagine, So I think

Speaker 1: he's an interesting prospect at the fullback position. I think

Speaker 1: at the very LEAs actor is on the practice squad

Speaker 1: as a rookie right Joe says at Minnesota, it depends

Speaker 1: on which version of Kyler Murray shows up or even

Speaker 1: if he gets the job. The other guys don't scare me,

Speaker 1: but Murray can fly. The mobile quarterbacks are a concern,

Speaker 1: especially when they can run as well as Kyler Murray does.

Speaker 1: And Joe kind of stole my thunder because this was

Speaker 1: my sneaky, tough game on the Bills schedule. I think

Speaker 1: it's an under the radar game because it's going to

Speaker 1: be tougher than people believe it should be. That's the

Speaker 1: number three defense in football. Last year, Minnesota, despite having

Speaker 1: a very unproductive offense with the failings of JJ McCarthy,

Speaker 1: last year and some of the injuries they incurred TJ. Hockinson,

Speaker 1: for example, their primary pass catching tight end. They did

Speaker 1: lose Jonathan Grenard in the trade with Philadelphia, so they

Speaker 1: don't have one of their best pass rushers anymore. So

Speaker 1: maybe the teeth of that number three defense isn't as

Speaker 1: fierce as it was last year. But as we know,

Speaker 1: that building is difficult to play in it's a Monday

Speaker 1: night atmosphere because it's a Monday night game. So I

Speaker 1: think that Minnesota game, which many people are probably going

Speaker 1: to mark down as the Bill schedule as a W,

Speaker 1: I think might be a harder faut W than people believe.

Speaker 5: Kyler's hard to get on the ground because he's so

Speaker 5: small and quick and can rune. He's going to do

Speaker 5: that all day and might I think you can see

Speaker 5: it on the horizon. Kyler Murray's going to be running

Speaker 5: around like and.

Speaker 1: He might keep the game close like he did against

Speaker 1: the Bills in two when he was with Arizona and

Speaker 1: Hail Murray happens at the end.

Speaker 5: Of the games. Yeah, and that's that's that's the kind

Speaker 5: of game it'll be.

Speaker 1: That's what I'm thinking.

Speaker 5: Because he can he can add lib and he's a

Speaker 5: really good athlete and he can make first downs when

Speaker 5: they need him, you know, out of nothing. So and

Speaker 5: Kevin O'Connell's gonna do some things with Kyler Murray that

Speaker 5: maybe we don't anticipate.

Speaker 1: The quarterback whisper.

Speaker 5: He will see him in the way he is in

Speaker 5: exploit his talents, and we don't know what that's gonna

Speaker 5: look like because he's he's been in Arizona for a minute,

Speaker 5: and he never really had that kind of coaching although

Speaker 5: and you.

Speaker 1: Know, don't forget it was there, mate, he didn't have

Speaker 1: this kind of receiving court. That's right, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison,

Speaker 1: Juwan Jennings who they signed from San Francisco, and TJ.

Speaker 5: Hockinson. Except that's a crew, Yes, that is a crew.

Speaker 5: But all of those guys may turn into Marvin Harrison Junior.

Speaker 1: Well I'm not betting on it. I think Marvin Harrison

Speaker 1: Junior is more about Marvin Harrison Junior than it was

Speaker 1: about Kyler Murray.

Speaker 5: Maybe maybe I mean.

Speaker 1: Justin Jefferson, proven wide receiver, Jordan Addison, proven wide receiver

Speaker 1: despite off field issues, and Juwan Jennings a proven big

Speaker 1: target possession receiver who just signed a couple of weeks

Speaker 1: ago with Minnesota. If I'm eight million bucks, I'm.

Speaker 5: Really interested to see what kind of chemistry and teammate

Speaker 5: Kyler's going to be in Minnesota.

Speaker 1: He couldn't ask for a better receiving corpse. This is

Speaker 1: the best receiving course he's ever had, Right, it's not

Speaker 1: even close.

Speaker 5: I'm going to keep my ear to the ground closely

Speaker 5: to see if those wide receivers are happy with the

Speaker 5: quarterback they brought in.

Speaker 1: And that game is in week nine nine, Monday Night

Speaker 1: football at Minnesota. Like, that place is going to be

Speaker 1: rock and it's a loud building.

Speaker 5: It's a very good building.

Speaker 1: It's loud because it's enclosed. As we know, they got

Speaker 1: that great glass at the one end and let's all

Speaker 1: the natural light in but not obviously there won't be

Speaker 1: light for the Monday night game. But yeah, beautiful. Oh,

Speaker 1: it's a beautiful building, absolutely beautiful. And you know that

Speaker 1: Josh returns to the place where as a rookie he

Speaker 1: had his first leap over a linebacker.

Speaker 5: And this'll be our first Yeah, this will be the

Speaker 5: first time I've been back there since Super Bowl twenty six.

Speaker 1: Oh wow. Humph. Yeah, the Metro Dome.

Speaker 5: I think that's right. I'm not I might have been

Speaker 5: there for a game with when I was.

Speaker 1: I was there for Josh's rookie year game.

Speaker 5: I was watching it. I wasn't you know what I mean.

Speaker 1: But really a nice building.

Speaker 5: It is a nice building. But it's yeah, it'll be

Speaker 5: oh my goodness, it'll be the Bills were actually ninth.

Speaker 5: It'll be chilli.

Speaker 1: It'll be cold. Well yeah, just not not as a game. Yeah,

Speaker 1: so that'll be a welcome day.

Speaker 5: Of work for you guys. Pulling up the Josh hurdle.

Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the first hurdle you ever had. He also

Speaker 1: had a long run for a touchdown to the left

Speaker 1: front pylon in that game. I think it was like

Speaker 1: sixteen eighteen yards he went for a touchdown. So yeah,

Speaker 1: got a first down on that run. So that was good.

Speaker 5: This is when we started to see it.

Speaker 1: Yeah. On the tweets sheet says week six at Raiders.

Speaker 1: I know it sounds crazy, hear me out. It's during

Speaker 1: the West Coast swing, coming off a tough Rams game

Speaker 1: the week prior, which is a Monday night game, so

Speaker 1: short week, win or lose. The Bills will be mentally

Speaker 1: exhausted from that game. Kubiak's at great oc. He definitely

Speaker 1: could have his team ready to upset the Bills. I

Speaker 1: want to run this by you, Steve, how much do

Speaker 1: you believe Joe Brady considers staying out west for that week.

Speaker 1: There are a lot of logistics you got to take

Speaker 1: care of. You got to find a practice facility, hotel

Speaker 1: for the week, athletic training center where your athletic trainers

Speaker 1: can take care of your players, film rooms like you

Speaker 1: got to work out all those logistics. But you're playing

Speaker 1: at Los Angeles Monday night. By the time you land

Speaker 1: here in Buffalo from that game, if you choose to

Speaker 1: come home at six am Tuesday, it's only six days

Speaker 1: and then you're playing the Raiders on the eighteenth.

Speaker 5: At four to twenty five. Yes, it's a thought, right,

Speaker 5: they're going to stay out there?

Speaker 1: You think they are?

Speaker 4: Absolutely?

Speaker 1: I think it's definitely a consideration.

Speaker 5: You got to on a sixth day notice, six day

Speaker 5: rest day rest week, stay out there, get acclimated to

Speaker 5: the time change. It'll be easier to do that out

Speaker 5: there whatever happens with the LA Rams game. And in fact,

Speaker 5: if you're the Bills, I think he'd fly to Los Angeles.

Speaker 5: You land at eight pm the day before, as late

Speaker 5: as you possibly can on Saturday. On Saturday, you get up,

Speaker 5: it's eight pm Eastern. It's a five o'clock game out there,

Speaker 5: eight fifteen, five to fifteen game out there, and you

Speaker 5: just get up, have some meetings, will walk through a

Speaker 5: little pregame meal, you go play the game, and then

Speaker 5: you And here's the thing. I don't know what you

Speaker 5: do after the Rams game, whether you fly to Vegas

Speaker 5: for the facilities you've got, or do you go fly

Speaker 5: to wherever it is where you're going to stay the

Speaker 5: if you're going to stay.

Speaker 1: Out here's an example. We know the Dallas Cowboys do

Speaker 1: their training camp in Oxnard, California. Maybe you can talk

Speaker 1: to Jerry Jones and say, hey, what about it. We

Speaker 1: have your place for the week because they do training

Speaker 1: camp out there every year. So I would tend I

Speaker 1: would tend to think there's some some of that infrastructure

Speaker 1: you need to get ready for a game.

Speaker 5: You can impose on like one of the colleges there

Speaker 5: or or that, even if it's.

Speaker 1: But it's also college football season, they might be using

Speaker 1: all that stuff.

Speaker 5: But if you do it like a Division two school

Speaker 5: or Division two although or whatever that those guys would

Speaker 5: be like, yes, please come in. We want our players

Speaker 5: to have. It's an incentive for their.

Speaker 1: Now that you're saying that, it's jogged a memory of mine,

Speaker 1: because back in twenty twelve, the Bills did that. They

Speaker 1: were at San Francisco at Arizona under Chang Gaily in

Speaker 1: twenty twelve and chose to stay out there for the week.

Speaker 1: They immediately flew after the loss to San Francisco to Phoenix,

Speaker 1: spent the week in Phoenix. They practiced in the Arizona

Speaker 1: State practice bubble in Tempe, and then they stayed on

Speaker 1: a rezut where they had unlimited conference room space for

Speaker 1: you know me at all I.

Speaker 5: Was out there for I went, I did that game,

Speaker 5: and we parachuted in for production meetings and yeah, it

Speaker 5: was so nice. It was.

Speaker 1: We spent the whole week out there and did it

Speaker 1: that way. And they did win the second game in

Speaker 1: overtime against Arizona. That was the Megahan game. Alex Carrington

Speaker 1: blocked the kick and then they went down the other

Speaker 1: end kicked the game winning field goal on overtime. But

Speaker 1: so it can be done. I'm just wondering where they're

Speaker 1: gonna choose to set up shop for the week.

Speaker 5: That may be the thing. Just fly to the same place.

Speaker 1: You know, Yeah, use it again. I don't know if

Speaker 1: you want to practice in Vegas all week unless you

Speaker 1: got an indoor facility. Oh you're gonna get a wicked

Speaker 1: hot out there.

Speaker 5: Well it's gonna be it'd be October, mid October. It's

Speaker 5: gonna still be ninety yeah, so yeah, that But these

Speaker 5: are all questions you got to It's a West coast swing,

Speaker 5: no question about it.

Speaker 1: And a short week, and it's one day.

Speaker 5: The first team is a really good team, and I

Speaker 5: think that's the better way to have it if you're

Speaker 5: the Bills. Get the good team out of the way

Speaker 5: and then hope you got enough left and get the

Speaker 5: rookie quarterback the next week and just kind of hang

Speaker 5: in there.

Speaker 1: And assuming Kirk Cousins still isn't playing by week six,

Speaker 1: he might not be.

Speaker 5: He ain't gonna be playing.

Speaker 1: I think Kirk Cousins might be playing a first game,

Speaker 1: maybe the first two games.

Speaker 5: I think Mendoza's a little got a little bit more

Speaker 5: upstairs than people are giving him credit for.

Speaker 1: Oh no, I think he's a very cerebral quarterback. Absolutely,

Speaker 1: but here you go. That is a question mark because

Speaker 1: that's right in the window of when a lot of

Speaker 1: rookie quarterbacks take over if they don't start the season

Speaker 1: as the star.

Speaker 5: So here's what happens. We all know. You get out

Speaker 5: there and you win one game, you win two games,

Speaker 5: you win three games, and before the season slips away,

Speaker 5: you try and pull that lever to give yourself a

Speaker 5: little boost and throw him in there and say, okay,

Speaker 5: here we go, We're gonna go. And yeah, sometimes it works,

Speaker 5: sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time, it does not.

Speaker 1: Break time for us here when we come back and

Speaker 1: one of your thoughts on the tweets sheet as to

Speaker 1: the under the Radar game you feel exists on the

Speaker 1: Bills twenty twenty six schedule, something there that has already

Speaker 1: given you pause and concern, even though some of your

Speaker 1: fellow Bills fans that's a w no problem. Let us

Speaker 1: know what that game is next. All right, back here

Speaker 1: on One Bill's Live Chris Brown Steve Tasker live from

Speaker 1: the Bills Store here on a Tuesday, where we're asking

Speaker 1: you today to give us your one under the radar

Speaker 1: game on the Bill's twenty six regular season schedule, and

Speaker 1: as we tell you all the time, if you're in

Speaker 1: the neighborhood, swing by the Bill store, hop on our

Speaker 1: live mic to comment, and we have someone to do

Speaker 1: that right now. So give us your name and where

Speaker 1: you're from.

Speaker 6: Yeah, Dan live in Youngstown, Ohio, originally from Rchard Park.

Speaker 1: Okay, and you got it under the radar game for us.

Speaker 6: When we were waiting for the schedule to come out,

Speaker 6: I really thought it was going to be the Raiders

Speaker 6: to start the season.

Speaker 1: Oh okay, Yeah, there were rumblings about that online.

Speaker 6: And I thought, well, rookie quarterback. And then I thought, no,

Speaker 6: it's not going to be a rookie. It's going to

Speaker 6: be Kirk Cousins to start the season. And even though

Speaker 6: we're Week six right against the Raiders, I'm not gonna

Speaker 6: be surprised if Kurt doesn't get off to a good start.

Speaker 6: I mean, he is a good quarterback and I think

Speaker 6: he could still be playing QB at that time. And

Speaker 6: that AFC West is going to be a very competitive

Speaker 6: division this year. I wouldn't be surprised if the Raiders don't. Uh,

Speaker 6: they're not gonna win it, but I think they'll be competitive,

Speaker 6: and that game might be a little tougher than.

Speaker 1: Play some plus to Steve's point, the Bills are going

Speaker 1: to be coming off a really hard game against the

Speaker 1: m Yes.

Speaker 5: And here's the thing about the Raiders. They open up

Speaker 5: with Miami, they're gonna probably put that down as a w.

Speaker 5: Then they get the Chargers, which is division game, a

Speaker 5: team they should be familiar with. Then they got New Orleans.

Speaker 5: They could be two and one before they meet Kansas City.

Speaker 5: And then the Patriots.

Speaker 1: Gets tough there, so wow, they go Chiefs Patriots, Bill's Rams. Hello.

Speaker 5: Let me say this somewhere in there, Mendoza is gonna

Speaker 5: be the quarterback.

Speaker 1: Okay, right, okay, if they if they think they're gonna

Speaker 1: start to tumble after even if.

Speaker 5: Things go as good as they can go and they

Speaker 5: go three and oh out of the gate and the

Speaker 5: Chargers can't find themselves or whatever, they got, beat the

Speaker 5: Miami Dolphins, beat the New Orleans. Uh, the Chargers, the Dolphins,

Speaker 5: the Chargers and the Saints. They're three and o coming

Speaker 5: out of the gate. Then they hit the Chiefs. No way,

Speaker 5: Then they hit the Patriots. They ain't beating the Patriots. Yeah, okay,

Speaker 5: and then they they got the Bills at home, No,

Speaker 5: the Rams, No, all of a sudden, they're in a

Speaker 5: spiral and they're saying, Okay, we need to pull lever.

Speaker 5: Kirk Cousin's gonna sit down.

Speaker 1: After he's played the Bills, then that's right.

Speaker 5: Four. But whatever it could be. If the I think

Speaker 5: there may be a question going into the Bills game,

Speaker 5: how long are they gonna stick with Kirk Cousins. You

Speaker 5: know what I'm saying, because Kirk, at that point, if

Speaker 5: they go out of there three and oh, even though

Speaker 5: it's the Dolphins, Chargers, Saints, now, the Chargers aren't gonna

Speaker 5: be nothing. I think they're gonna be a build. But

Speaker 5: if they can find a way to be that team,

Speaker 5: and they're three and oh going into Week four at

Speaker 5: Kansas City or no way, they got hi Kansas City

Speaker 5: coming in.

Speaker 6: And the Raiders usually play the Chiefs tough once a year.

Speaker 5: That's the vintage driving. So you know, there's every chance

Speaker 5: to think if Kirk Cousins, I mean, they're not asking

Speaker 5: him to carry the load, they're asking him just not

Speaker 5: to dump it. Right, So.

Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I think it's.

Speaker 5: You know, I see the rationale particularly from the Raiders

Speaker 5: end of it. You know where they've got Kirk Cousins,

Speaker 5: who is passable at this point. He's you know, we'll

Speaker 5: see I mean, Mendoz is going to be physically way better,

Speaker 5: you would think.

Speaker 1: Well, thanks for commenting on that work you guys do

Speaker 1: on the broadcast.

Speaker 6: Looking forward to having you back on the radio soon.

Speaker 1: Yeah, we were all there. Eventually, we're all.

Speaker 6: Wondering, is Judy okay.

Speaker 1: We're all hoping that Butcher still loves you eyes well,

Speaker 1: I don't see how he could because he loves everybody.

Speaker 5: And also Ryan from Toronto, who who who.

Speaker 1: Is our anxiety ridden Bills fan or he worries about everything?

Speaker 6: Ryan and I are cut from a lot of Bills.

Speaker 6: Don't matter who the Bills are playing. I'm always worried.

Speaker 1: That's fair enough. Thanks for stopping by. That was great.

Speaker 5: I appreciate you.

Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why we've got the live mic here, because

Speaker 1: you know, people pop in, they have opinions. Why not

Speaker 1: that Raiders game is interesting? I think that's one of

Speaker 1: a lot of people chalk up as at w maybe

Speaker 1: and maybe it's a tougher one, especially coming off a

Speaker 1: tough game the week before against the RAM.

Speaker 5: And we're conjecturing that the Bills will have stayed out

Speaker 5: West for that week.

Speaker 1: That's I think that's the possibility to.

Speaker 5: The Rams, and which is it's fine, but it'll be

Speaker 5: a test and you're gonna have to overcome some logistical

Speaker 5: problems to get ready for that game after just having

Speaker 5: played in Los Angeles and facing Chargers, Patriots, Rams all

Speaker 5: in succession. Yeah, you got.

Speaker 1: So that's the second person that's mentioned the Rams, because

Speaker 1: our guy on the tweet sheets, Steven said Week six

Speaker 1: at the Raiders as well. He's he's of the opinion

Speaker 1: that win or lose, the Bills are going to be

Speaker 1: mentally exhausted from the Rams game, and he has a

Speaker 1: lot of respect for Clint Kubiak as an offensive play caller,

Speaker 1: so he's expecting that Raiders game to be a toughie

Speaker 1: as well.

Speaker 4: That's right.

Speaker 1: Jack on the tweet sheet says at Minnesota Monday Night Football,

Speaker 1: November ninth, Yeah, that's the game I picked. It's primetime,

Speaker 1: it's right in the meat of the season, and hopefully

Speaker 1: the Bills have worked out any early kinks and are

Speaker 1: hitting their strike right in time for the playoff push.

Speaker 1: But he's worried about that game. He thinks that could

Speaker 1: be tougher than people expect. I'm telling you, I think

Speaker 1: that just because of atmosphere Monday night, it's gonna be

Speaker 1: charged up. You know. I gonna be blowing the horn

Speaker 1: and skull vikings and all of that jazz.

Speaker 5: The Bills will be coming off a home game against

Speaker 5: Baltimore one that's.

Speaker 1: Gonna it's gonna be another physically demanding.

Speaker 5: The game, the one o'clock game of this season. I

Speaker 5: think at home. That's the Baltimore game coming off the buye.

Speaker 7: Uh.

Speaker 5: They will have been away for three weeks.

Speaker 8: Uh, look up, boys, what today?

Speaker 2: He is a feast for the Capitol. Fie the cook

Speaker 2: is in the kitchen, looks down the sideline. He's got

Speaker 2: kick Kade for.

Speaker 3: A twenty three yard touchdown and it's intercepted.

Speaker 1: Jumping over with the Airspatford. These these one Bills live

Speaker 1: all right, hour number two here on a Tuesday, Chris Brown,

Speaker 1: Steve Tasker with you, as we told you earlier head

Speaker 1: coach Joe Brady in advance of practice number two of OTAs,

Speaker 1: which is taking place as we speak. But we told

Speaker 1: you you'd be able to hear from Joe Brady. We're

Speaker 1: gonna play his comments for you now here on one

Speaker 1: Bill's Live.

Speaker 6: So what is the What is the mood as you

Speaker 6: start this next phase?

Speaker 4: Mean, you feel feel pretty.

Speaker 7: Excited for yourself because it's your first time being the

Speaker 7: man here.

Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, I'm excited that we get to go

Speaker 9: out and play some football, right, like, uh, we've I'm

Speaker 9: grateful that we got the extra extra weeks, you know,

Speaker 9: but sometimes it's like you're going against your just separate

Speaker 9: offense defense a lot. You know, even as a head coach,

Speaker 9: you're like, you're ready to let the guys got to

Speaker 9: go compete against one another. And man, I've we've found

Speaker 9: out standing off season man, And it's it's really cool

Speaker 9: to kind of see it all come together, right. You

Speaker 9: spend a lot of time when the guys aren't here,

Speaker 9: but you know, just getting out on the field yesterday

Speaker 9: and just offense defense kind of going against each other.

Speaker 4: Man, A lot of fun, a lot of exciting for you.

Speaker 1: I Mean, obviously you're in tune with the offense.

Speaker 4: You've been here long enough to knowble the defense.

Speaker 10: Seeing that now for the first time with Jim kind

Speaker 10: of getting things set up is that kind of maybe

Speaker 10: the most exciting thing for you.

Speaker 1: Is to see how that's gonna start looking to fit together.

Speaker 9: Yeah, it's all I mean, look, the I think the

Speaker 9: big a big thing for me is just managing managing

Speaker 9: my time with it all right, like I'm trying to

Speaker 9: We obviously have to continue to grow the offense as well, right,

Speaker 9: but also setting the foundation and of everything that we're

Speaker 9: doing in the building, right, So the defense is just

Speaker 9: another part of it. It's it's been a lot of fun,

Speaker 9: you know, kind of seeing it kind of all come together,

Speaker 9: seeing a lot of the new faces, kind of how

Speaker 9: they how they kind of fit right. We had some

Speaker 9: guys you know that were injured last year, seeing them

Speaker 9: be able to get back out on the field. So

Speaker 9: I'm excited about where we're at. It's it's I remember

Speaker 9: doing my first year in the offense, right, You're you

Speaker 9: got to set the foundation and be smart about not

Speaker 9: putting too much in initially, like as they and then

Speaker 9: you kind of ramp it up as we go and

Speaker 9: the votas in the training camp. So it's been cool

Speaker 9: to be a part of the installation process.

Speaker 4: And I really like where we're at right now.

Speaker 1: Josh I'm sorry, Joe.

Speaker 5: How has Josh gotten through the first part of everything

Speaker 5: with this food?

Speaker 9: This guys, You guys know Josh right, he's good, he's

Speaker 9: good to go. And I was out there spending it

Speaker 9: yesterday and really really cool to see.

Speaker 7: I don't think we've talked to you since the schedule

Speaker 7: came out. Just what do you make of it? And

Speaker 7: just kind of the way it played out for you guys.

Speaker 9: I mean, look, I think, uh, we're fortunate with a

Speaker 9: lot of the guys that we have on this football

Speaker 9: team that the guys we play a lot of primetime games,

Speaker 9: and when you got a guy like Josh Allen, you know,

Speaker 9: it's part of it. But I think, uh, it's the NFL, right,

Speaker 9: every single game. There's no such thing as an easy one,

Speaker 9: no such thing as oh, this one's gonna be harder

Speaker 9: than the others, like right now, Uh, you can pay,

Speaker 9: you can pay a lot of attention to it. It's

Speaker 9: the last thing, you know, they handed it got in

Speaker 9: front of me. I looked at when we're playing. I

Speaker 9: know we played a lot of days of the week,

Speaker 9: but those guys will have to play us and not

Speaker 9: the other way around.

Speaker 11: I know that you know, what kind of updates can

Speaker 11: you give us on defensive guys Trill Bernard at Oliver

Speaker 11: Are they full go at this point in the offseason

Speaker 11: or just where are those two guys?

Speaker 9: Yeah, it's kinda and I can kind of say this

Speaker 9: is like holistically from an injury standpoint, it's it's unique

Speaker 9: too because you guys will only here what once once

Speaker 9: a week, right, So it's it's gonna be a little

Speaker 9: tough probably from a reporting standpoint from that, right, because

Speaker 9: there's gonna be guys particular like TV. There's any guys

Speaker 9: that did more yesterday they might not do as much today,

Speaker 9: or guys that didn't go yesterday that are going like

Speaker 9: we have you know, there's reality, right, guys are injured.

Speaker 4: It's football.

Speaker 9: I think we have a great plan for a lot

Speaker 9: of those guys, and that the plan is they have

Speaker 9: these guys ready to go for training camp, right.

Speaker 4: And so it's.

Speaker 9: Good to get at Oliver out on the football field,

Speaker 9: good to get TV get around these guys. But we

Speaker 9: got to be smart about what we're doing, uh, knowing

Speaker 9: that training camps in a month two months and we

Speaker 9: can't win it all right now, so if we overdo

Speaker 9: them with a lot of the reps. We gotta be

Speaker 9: smart an we're installing a new defense. We need to

Speaker 9: get a lot of guys reps. We drafted some young guys,

Speaker 9: so it's all opportunity with it.

Speaker 11: But yeah, along the line, along those lines with those

Speaker 11: two guys though in particular, and they're fit in this

Speaker 11: new defense, I mean a lot is unknown in terms

Speaker 11: of how that'll look. I know it's very early returns,

Speaker 11: but how do you think it'll look for those two

Speaker 11: in particular.

Speaker 9: No, I mean, look, I know it's I know it's

Speaker 9: different scheme, but like there's still an element of playing

Speaker 9: the linebacker position in the defense ave tackle position that

Speaker 9: you know, maybe the type of run schemes that ED

Speaker 9: might see on a on a basis in certain defense

Speaker 9: of groupings that might be different than any seen in

Speaker 9: the past. Uh, you know, there might be so which

Speaker 9: is also different for TV in terms of, hey, how

Speaker 9: some of the fits might happen. But I think the

Speaker 9: calls are different. But the way that the game is

Speaker 9: played and how they're being attacked, once they figure that

Speaker 9: out at the end of the day, I think it

Speaker 9: ends up playing the same for them.

Speaker 6: So you've had a few weeks.

Speaker 7: Of these voluntary different phases. But what's been your question

Speaker 7: of the attendance.

Speaker 4: I've loved it, man.

Speaker 9: It's look, we've now maybe being just does a really

Speaker 9: good job and putting in their contracts so they get

Speaker 9: money to be up here. But I think the guys

Speaker 9: we have a great locker room and a great group

Speaker 9: of guys that want to be here in Buffalo, want

Speaker 9: to be around the guys, and it's It's part of

Speaker 9: the reasons I enjoy going away for training camp, right

Speaker 9: is you go away and the guys are together and

Speaker 9: they're connecting, and you know, this is the time of

Speaker 9: year that a lot of the guys have homes elsewhere,

Speaker 9: maybe their families might not come, so the guys are

Speaker 9: around so you know, whether it's their contract or not,

Speaker 9: I think the guys enjoy being around here. It helps

Speaker 9: that we have some of the new schemes and the

Speaker 9: new kind of coming around. But uh, now, I've been

Speaker 9: really pleased with our attendants and I think it's show

Speaker 9: it's showing out there.

Speaker 12: One of those positions that just not having coming from

Speaker 12: last year is your nickel spot.

Speaker 1: What are your expectations there with you know, the candidates

Speaker 1: she'll be rolling through.

Speaker 4: The Yeah, I think look good.

Speaker 9: We were We were very intentional about a guy like

Speaker 9: d Alford, you know, and and bringing him in and

Speaker 9: his versatility to be an inside inside you know, nickel

Speaker 9: and have the flexibility to play on the outside right.

Speaker 9: And so one of the perks of being a versatyle

Speaker 9: defense is you're gonna be playing nickel, you're gonna play

Speaker 9: base defense. You're gonna have a bunch of different packages

Speaker 9: and having them as many guys as we can move

Speaker 9: around as possible. And so you guys will see out

Speaker 9: there today, there'll be a lot of guys kind of

Speaker 9: rolling and rotating in that. But fortunately we got a

Speaker 9: guy like d that is has done that at high

Speaker 9: at a high level going against him and a clear

Speaker 9: fit and vision for how he's gonna fit in this defense.

Speaker 12: Well, as you well know, have been made about Keon

Speaker 12: of that, how have you gotten about reassuring I mean,

Speaker 12: and I know you've backed him and the whole teams back.

Speaker 12: How have you got about reassuring him or have you

Speaker 12: had to in any way?

Speaker 4: And how's he looked?

Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, Kon Keon is like the way that the

Speaker 9: way that he approaches his day, Like he knows that

Speaker 9: some of the elements that happened last year he owned

Speaker 9: him right, and he knew going into this year it's

Speaker 9: it's it's another opportunity, right, Like I made sure once

Speaker 9: I got the job and let him know he's gonna

Speaker 9: be here and he's gonna be a part of our offense, man,

Speaker 9: And I'm excited about you know, uh, him progressing in

Speaker 9: this offense and and getting my josh and doing those things,

Speaker 9: and you know, I you know, we community a lot

Speaker 9: this offseason about what he's doing, what he's working on,

Speaker 9: and and seeing here coming here and working and seeing

Speaker 9: it's been really cool to see the perspective from Pete

Speaker 9: Carmichael and Drew Terrell and and Bohart agree and like

Speaker 9: watching training camp reps from last year, watching some things

Speaker 9: and then seeing them kind of all come together. But

Speaker 9: I loved the work ethic, loved how he's kind of

Speaker 9: been doing it right now. Again, it's we just had

Speaker 9: one day going against the defense, right, So this is

Speaker 9: a lot of routes on air and.

Speaker 4: Just the approach.

Speaker 9: But that's been the biggest thing with him is you know,

Speaker 9: establishing you know, a pro mentality and he's done everything

Speaker 9: we've asked of so far.

Speaker 12: Yeah, it's not often though, and I know there's a

Speaker 12: you know, well known issues that you know, happened with

Speaker 12: in missing meetings and being labor meetings last year, but

Speaker 12: it's not often that the owner mentions the player's name,

Speaker 12: is there?

Speaker 4: Just how do you deal with that?

Speaker 9: I mean, look, I don't know what's often or what's not,

Speaker 9: but I mean when as a professional football coach, as

Speaker 9: a professional football player, like you can't get caught up

Speaker 9: in what's said about you. You just show up in

Speaker 9: and do your job right, and there's gonna be There's

Speaker 9: been calls that I haven't haven't been approved of, you know,

Speaker 9: and it's it's part of it, right, but you wake

Speaker 9: up and you just do your job to the best

Speaker 9: of your ability. And if you focus on what's being

Speaker 9: said about you, focus on the outside noise, you know

Speaker 9: it's probably gonna impact your play, right, And you hope

Speaker 9: we have a locker room of a bunch of guys

Speaker 9: that you know, have that motivation and care and love

Speaker 9: for one of their players, and you know their families

Speaker 9: and that's kind of what drives them and not necessarily

Speaker 9: what's being said on the outsides.

Speaker 13: I was just gonna say, in that case with supporting Kon,

Speaker 13: does it add an element of I'll say pressure maybe

Speaker 13: for him. I mean it's your three or four for him,

Speaker 13: and you have high expectations for him.

Speaker 3: Do you think it does?

Speaker 13: And is and then that in some way almost intentional

Speaker 13: because you need him to be a better player for

Speaker 13: you guys.

Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, I mean I don't think anybody's ever had

Speaker 9: higher expectations than Keon for himself. I'm not saying, you know,

Speaker 9: like I've never tried to put expectations on players, right like,

Speaker 9: because sometimes you put sometimes it's warranted based upon where

Speaker 9: they're drafted, but sometimes it's like, hey man, we might

Speaker 9: be putting them in a box that there actually can

Speaker 9: probably be better than who they are. Right Kean understands,

Speaker 9: you know, the role that he can have in this offense.

Speaker 9: I think he understands the things that have happened in

Speaker 9: the past, but he also is has known that hey,

Speaker 9: look there that's going to be things that are be

Speaker 9: questioned about him and he can't control that. All he

Speaker 9: can control is what he's doing moving forward and not

Speaker 9: putting any more pressure on himself. Just go out there,

Speaker 9: run the routes, do your job man blocking the run game,

Speaker 9: you know, make the touchdown blocks through the things that

Speaker 9: you know that he's capable of doing, and and just

Speaker 9: hold up, hold him in that standard every single day.

Speaker 9: And and I believe he'll be able to do.

Speaker 14: That DJ more this offseason. How important is that quarterback

Speaker 14: wide receiver chemistry piece? And how much is this period

Speaker 14: of time over the offseason program how much are you

Speaker 14: able to kind of dive into that if you're Josh

Speaker 14: Allen and DJ Moore to kind of develop that.

Speaker 4: No, it's it's it's huge.

Speaker 9: I mean, like you guys remember the I'm not aq

Speaker 9: it to that right now.

Speaker 4: They just started.

Speaker 9: But you know the chemistry that him, you know Josh

Speaker 9: and Steph had, Josh and Gabe had. Like, guys, when

Speaker 9: you're playing Josh has with Khalil right now, and you

Speaker 9: know Dawson Dalton. When you're playing with someone for a while,

Speaker 9: you understand how they speak to your running routes, right,

Speaker 9: the the body language like hey, when I do this,

Speaker 9: this is what this.

Speaker 4: Means, right?

Speaker 9: And I think a lot of times we take that

Speaker 9: for granted, like we think, like guys can just come

Speaker 9: in here and pitch and catch. But there there's nuances

Speaker 9: to run the routes, there's nuances to like how they

Speaker 9: speak to you. And so this is the time of

Speaker 9: year that we kind of do that. And look, there'll

Speaker 9: be times, like I'm sure there'll be times out of

Speaker 9: practice that you'll be like, man, I feel like Josh

Speaker 9: might have forced that throw, and then you look and

Speaker 9: it's like he forced the dj you know, but he

Speaker 9: might have tried to get a feel of like, hey, kind.

Speaker 4: Of let's let's sort through that. Let's talk through that.

Speaker 9: Hey, I wanted to see kind of how that felt

Speaker 9: thrown that in cut to him, you know, And so

Speaker 9: not saying, hey, that's what I want him to just

Speaker 9: force throws, but I think there's some components of him

Speaker 9: trying to get a feel of, you know, the timing

Speaker 9: of the routes, the speed and which he comes out

Speaker 9: of some of the breaks, and you know, and the

Speaker 9: only way you can kind of get that chemistry is

Speaker 9: by kind of working at it at a full speed level,

Speaker 9: not necessarily just routes on. And so we try to

Speaker 9: be really intentional about some of these routes, and some

Speaker 9: of it is just putting you know, maybe it's it's

Speaker 9: not necessarily putting DJ at the at the primary of

Speaker 9: a play and making you know, trying to be intentional. Hey,

Speaker 9: I might put a play down and make sure I

Speaker 9: got the worst coverage possible for so Josh has to

Speaker 9: progress back to it and maybe find DJ from there.

Speaker 9: And so now it's hey, how do I get my

Speaker 9: body in a certain position to throw a football? Oh,

Speaker 9: now I'm coming back to DJ as opposed to Hey,

Speaker 9: he's the primary. Good I get the completion that kept

Speaker 9: moving forward. So there's a lot that goes into it.

Speaker 9: But you know, I think they they have developed so

Speaker 9: far a good chemistry in terms of communication, in terms of, hey,

Speaker 9: this is what I'm looking for. Hey, added you know

Speaker 9: what did you think there? And I think that's all

Speaker 9: you can ask for at this point.

Speaker 4: Awesome.

Speaker 6: You guys lost some leaders on defense this offseason.

Speaker 11: How of you've seen some of your additions, you know,

Speaker 11: step in and maybe contribute to.

Speaker 1: The culture at this stage or the offseason.

Speaker 11: How do you feel about that side of the ball

Speaker 11: in terms of the different voices that you have, you

Speaker 11: know in your partner, a lot.

Speaker 4: Of young guys.

Speaker 9: Yeah, but I think look, it was obviously a tough

Speaker 9: year for Torol Bernard last year, right, and you know

Speaker 9: when you're injured, right, he had, he had a seal

Speaker 9: on his chest and it was deserved and it is deserved,

Speaker 9: but it's hard when you're not out there, right, And

Speaker 9: so I think his his leadership has has strengthened just

Speaker 9: from that experience, right of like, Hey, you know what,

Speaker 9: I can't just be a leader on I'm out on

Speaker 9: the football field and en forcing you to have to

Speaker 9: kind of take the defense, you know, uh, when I'm

Speaker 9: when I I can't actually be the one making the

Speaker 9: calls and going out there.

Speaker 1: Right.

Speaker 4: You're bringing a guy.

Speaker 9: Like Bradley Chubb, right, Like I've said it before, like

Speaker 9: when we evaluated him like that, sealing his chest was

Speaker 9: important to me, but I wanted to get to know

Speaker 9: him to know if was he just a captain because

Speaker 9: he was their best player or was he their captain

Speaker 9: because of everything else that kind of comes with it.

Speaker 9: And I mean you you can spend I don't know

Speaker 9: how much interaction you guys have had with him, but

Speaker 9: it's pretty clear to see like he's he has alpha traits,

Speaker 9: He's a leader. Guys follow him, you see what he'll

Speaker 9: you know, he's naturally grabbing guys and they're in the lock,

Speaker 9: they're in the weight room after practices doing stuff that

Speaker 9: you know, uh, I can't even pronounce. There's some elements

Speaker 9: of it, but uh, you know, he's he's fitting. You know,

Speaker 9: it's been very smooth and uh. And then it's a

Speaker 9: challenge of some of the young guys like, hey, uh,

Speaker 9: there's there's no such age limit of being a leader,

Speaker 9: right like you can there's different ways the leaders communication ways.

Speaker 9: There's ways of just hey, I'm gonna work and they're

Speaker 9: gonna follow me and so and look, Jim, Jim sets

Speaker 9: the tone of that room. Man, he's a great leader,

Speaker 9: and I think the guys follow him and you know,

Speaker 9: kind of sets a standard and been really excited about

Speaker 9: the guys that we've had and knowing that, hey, you know,

Speaker 9: Josh has been here a while, but now having more

Speaker 9: guys on defense that are gonna help kind of take

Speaker 9: that next step.

Speaker 4: Because you guys get going with ots here.

Speaker 9: I'm sorry, I'm I'm it's it's we're all we're all

Speaker 9: kind of getting back going right now.

Speaker 12: What do you want to see out of the team

Speaker 12: in the next.

Speaker 9: Few weeks, Yeah, there's there's I care like, I know

Speaker 9: this probably isn't the right answer, Like and I told

Speaker 9: the team this right Like coordinators will focus a lot

Speaker 9: more on the scheme right now, like the exes and

Speaker 9: O is like making sure that the offense is where

Speaker 9: it needs to be, where the defense needs to be.

Speaker 9: I care way more about all the other things right now,

Speaker 9: Like I want to see how we run to the football.

Speaker 9: I want to see how we celebrate you know, each

Speaker 9: other's success. I want to see you know, the you know,

Speaker 9: the tempo went in out the huddle and now are

Speaker 9: we getting lined up and you know, the communication in

Speaker 9: the back end from a defense, and are we on

Speaker 9: the same page. Like I'm not concerned with the big

Speaker 9: plays right now. I'm not concerned with you know, some

Speaker 9: of those other elements. Well, we'll make mistakes. There'll be

Speaker 9: plenty of mistakes out there today. There was mistakes yesterday.

Speaker 9: But what does it look like the next day? Did

Speaker 9: we learn from the mistakes? So I'm really focused on

Speaker 9: the how, by what we're doing right now, and then

Speaker 9: we'll continue to progress that into training camp and really

Speaker 9: hone in on the scheme. That's not to say I'm

Speaker 9: not focusing on it, but with the team, I want

Speaker 9: them to know that we're going to care about things

Speaker 9: that maybe other people won't.

Speaker 5: What do you mean?

Speaker 1: All right? That's head coach Joe Brady addressing the media

Speaker 1: before OTA practice today, the second of the week. There'll

Speaker 1: be one more tomorrow and that'll be it for this week.

Speaker 1: Then they'll have another set of OTAs the following week,

Speaker 1: and then a final set followed by June mini camp,

Speaker 1: and then they are off until training camp. So a

Speaker 1: lot to get done, and I would say among some

Speaker 1: of the highlights of Brady's comments, Steve he said he

Speaker 1: was grateful to have the extra time as a new

Speaker 1: head coach. They do get more practice time because they're

Speaker 1: getting a new thing underway. He said. The big thing

Speaker 1: for him is managing his time with all phases of

Speaker 1: the operations. As a guy who's been a died in

Speaker 1: the wool offensive coordinator and focused solely on the offensive

Speaker 1: side of the ball, He's delegating his time on the

Speaker 1: practice field and letting his coordinators do the heavy lifting.

Speaker 5: There's a lot to get right. Let alone, stuff you

Speaker 5: can get wrong, but time management is an issue for

Speaker 5: head coaches because they all of a sudden, they go

Speaker 5: from coordinator handling that side of the ball to handling

Speaker 5: both sides of the ball. And logistics and the decision

Speaker 5: we've been talking about today, do they stay out in LA.

Speaker 5: That's his call. You know, I want our guys to

Speaker 5: stay out in LA on the west coast. I think

Speaker 5: it's the best idea. Here's how we're you know, make

Speaker 5: it work. You know, he's got delegate that to somebody

Speaker 5: to get done. He's got to delegate the or not delegate,

Speaker 5: but decide what practice is gonna look like. We had

Speaker 5: the reporters today who were like, I mean you were

Speaker 5: you were playing tug of war in you know. I'm like, yeah,

Speaker 5: their team done that for years. They're team building and

Speaker 5: this stuff about chemistry, the questions, and I was kind

Speaker 5: of rolling my eyes with Brownie and they're they're asking

Speaker 5: about what about the chemistry between a quarterback and white

Speaker 5: We have that court, We had that question every single year.

Speaker 5: What about the chemistry between the quarterback and the wide receiver.

Speaker 5: I mean, chemistry is another word for familiarity. When a

Speaker 5: quarterback drops back and he sees that guy is running

Speaker 5: that route, I'm gonna I know what I'm gonna get

Speaker 5: he's gonna do this, and this and this. I'm gonna

Speaker 5: throw it when a different guy runs that route, he goes,

Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I'm gonna get something a little different. But

Speaker 5: here's what it's gonna be. I know what it's gonna

Speaker 5: Familiarity is what we're talking about. He knows how every

Speaker 5: guy is gonna run every route because all of those

Speaker 5: guys run something different, and they also run it different

Speaker 5: when they face a different defensive scheme. When they see zone.

Speaker 5: He's gonna do this, when he sees his own blitz.

Speaker 5: He's going to do this when he's he's man. He's

Speaker 5: gonna do this when it's a big corner and against

Speaker 5: that corner, he's gonna do this. That's the kind of

Speaker 5: familiarity the quarterback has with a lot of these players,

Speaker 5: and they got to get there, and it becomes painfully

Speaker 5: obvious as to what it takes to get there. Reps.

Speaker 5: Let's go. I want to see this guy run this

Speaker 5: route against this defense. Run it. Now, run it again. Okay,

Speaker 5: one more time. All right? Now, next guy, you run

Speaker 5: it against that defense. Now against these defense, Now run

Speaker 5: it again. That's what it takes, and that's why a

Speaker 5: guy like Joe Brady out there is I wish we

Speaker 5: had like, you know, six OTAs because that's the kind

Speaker 5: of repetition that it really takes, and it's the kind

Speaker 5: of rep you can't get in practice, particularly because of

Speaker 5: the CBA, you can't get enough practice time. But that's

Speaker 5: why you see these offenses evolve very quickly during the

Speaker 5: season because they get reps with the just there's not

Speaker 5: ninety guys on the roster. Here's not thirteen wide receivers.

Speaker 5: There's four that you're throwing to. Let's go. That's why

Speaker 5: you get you know, you got to start in yep,

Speaker 5: and you got to get him acclimated, and you know,

Speaker 5: that's where they're at.

Speaker 1: I think Joe Brady's doing a good job of trying

Speaker 1: to embrace his role as an all encompassing overseer because

Speaker 1: he was asked for these his team's goals in the

Speaker 1: spring and he said, look, my coordinators are focused on scheme.

Speaker 1: I am focused on the how how we run to

Speaker 1: the football, how we celebrate each other's success after a

Speaker 1: big play, tempo in and out of the huddle, communication

Speaker 1: on the back end on defense. These are the hows

Speaker 1: that he is focused on. As a head coach, where

Speaker 1: previously he was focused literally on the x's and o's

Speaker 1: of his scheme. Who belongs where, who fits where, who's

Speaker 1: ideally suited to play with whom. So I think he's

Speaker 1: taking the right approach here as OTAs begin I did

Speaker 1: think it was interesting when he was asked about leader

Speaker 1: ship that one name he brought up, because let's be honest,

Speaker 1: this is a much younger team now because they've turned

Speaker 1: the roster over. They have a big influx of youth,

Speaker 1: particularly with the last two draft classes. Twelve of them

Speaker 1: are on the defensive side of the ball over the

Speaker 1: last two draft classes, six each of the last two years.

Speaker 1: And he was talking about Bradley Chubb, who has been

Speaker 1: a captain before in his professional career, and he's already

Speaker 1: noticed him as an alpha male and a guy who's

Speaker 1: already grabbing people for conversations in the locker room to

Speaker 1: talk to them about standards and god knows what else.

Speaker 1: He said, He's grabbed people in the locker room, grab

Speaker 1: people in the weight room. Is a guy who's been

Speaker 1: here for two months. Yeah, and he's doing that already,

Speaker 1: so clearly it comes naturally to him.

Speaker 5: Joe said, it in his answer there hecause I want

Speaker 5: to find out why that guy was a captain. Was

Speaker 5: he a captain because the ownership was paying him a

Speaker 5: lot of money and they wanted to see him as

Speaker 5: a captain or was he a captain because of coaching

Speaker 5: staff found out he's the right kind of guy? Did

Speaker 5: you want his captain? Or or is it just a

Speaker 5: captain because he's the best player and he should be

Speaker 5: the captain. That's where franchises differentiate themselves and the culture

Speaker 5: really matters. Is he a captain because he's a captain

Speaker 5: kind of guy? And Joe Brady obviously is finding out

Speaker 5: that it seems like Bradley Chubby is that kind of guy.

Speaker 1: Two other quick notes from Brady's comments, actually three. One.

Speaker 1: I asked him what are his expectations at the nickel

Speaker 1: corner spot because that's one of the few spots that

Speaker 1: does not have an incumbent, knowing Taron Johnson's now in

Speaker 1: Las Vegas via trade, and he mentioned d Alford the

Speaker 1: free agent pickup. He called him a security blanket at

Speaker 1: that spot, knowing it's a position that needs an answer,

Speaker 1: So I think there's going to definitely be competition for

Speaker 1: Alford here through the spring and in training camp. But

Speaker 1: absence somebody lighting the world on fire and overtaking Alford

Speaker 1: is a very good chance it's going to be d

Speaker 1: Alfred as the team's nickel. He was asked about Keon,

Speaker 1: talked about how he owned his stuff last year, being

Speaker 1: late to meetings being one of his primary problems. He

Speaker 1: told Keon when he first got hired as the head coach,

Speaker 1: you're gonna be here, so let's make this work. So

Speaker 1: I think that was interesting to get that message out.

Speaker 1: And then finally he was asked about Kincaid and he said,

Speaker 1: Dalton Kincaid looks physically bigger. He said he did everything

Speaker 1: he was asked to do last offseason. If you remember,

Speaker 1: he was told to get bigger and stronger, and he

Speaker 1: did that. He said he's even bigger now and said

Speaker 1: he's dominating some physical competitions. Did it during the offseason

Speaker 1: conditioning period. Hopefully that translates if to the field.

Speaker 5: And most Bills fans would tell you the same thing.

Speaker 5: And I'm about to say, if he can stay healthy,

Speaker 5: Kincaid's going to be a force for this team. If

Speaker 5: he stays healthy and can stay as close to one

Speaker 5: hundred percent as you can in an NFL season. That

Speaker 5: guy makes a difference for this offense. He is a

Speaker 5: big problem for defenses who faced this offense.

Speaker 1: With Look at what he did in the playoffs last

Speaker 1: year alone.

Speaker 5: With James, with James Cook, Josh Allen, and he get

Speaker 5: Kincaid on that team. That it's hard. Man, It's hard

Speaker 5: to face an offense with those three jokers on there.

Speaker 5: But Kincaid's got to be on the field more.

Speaker 1: Had to go ahead touchdown in the Jacksonville playoff game

Speaker 1: fifteen yards and then had to go ahead touchdown when

Speaker 1: the Bills wiped out that twenty three to ten halftime

Speaker 1: deficit and do mainly to their own misgivings and turnovers,

Speaker 1: and he helps them come all the way back to

Speaker 1: take the lead twenty four to twenty three late in

Speaker 1: the third quarter of that divisional playoff game in Denver.

Speaker 1: Gotta take a break here, but when we come back,

Speaker 1: more of your comments on the tweets sheet, give us

Speaker 1: Live next time Now to announce the Week six high

Speaker 1: school girls flag football Coaches of the Week. These coaches

Speaker 1: are recognized not only for their efforts on the field,

Speaker 1: but off the field as well. Grants to the Buffalo Region

Speaker 1: winner of Mike Carrillo with Williams Real, East Churchville chilized

Speaker 1: Dan Carrado from the Rochester Region and on Tech Charter

Speaker 1: head coach Heaven Lewis, who was named the Syracuse Region

Speaker 1: Coach of the Week. Coaches will be honored over seven

Speaker 1: weeks and each will receive one thousand dollars for their teams.

Speaker 1: The Coach of the Year finalists will be announced later

Speaker 1: this summer. We're gonna pivot to the post practice podium

Speaker 1: where one Josh Allen is addressing the media after OTA

Speaker 1: practice today. Or in building that chemistry you've had to

Speaker 1: interdrink with wide receivers like last year seemingly on the fly.

Speaker 1: What's it like getting to do.

Speaker 7: It now at OTAs and the importance of it.

Speaker 1: Are you able to do more and build that chemistry better?

Speaker 10: Yeah, You're able to do more, you know, to see

Speaker 10: what works and what doesn't. Obviously, again we go out there,

Speaker 10: if we make mistakes, you know which is gonna happen.

Speaker 10: It's you know, chalk it up to the first couple

Speaker 10: of days of OTAs and be like, hey, we like this,

Speaker 10: we don't like this, uh, and just again continue to

Speaker 10: work on it and find ways that we can learn

Speaker 10: how to compliment each other, and just again build that

Speaker 10: chemistry and camaraderie.

Speaker 1: He's learned about DJs we've been out through the last

Speaker 1: couple of days conversation with a few months.

Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, just being a great teammate. You know,

Speaker 10: he's really one of the guys and obviously it's a

Speaker 10: really natural relationship that we have. And he fits in

Speaker 10: this locker room extremely well and very talkative with the guys,

Speaker 10: and you know, just very excited to work with him.

Speaker 7: Getting to spend your time with Keon. Just how is

Speaker 7: that relationship between you guys growing over the years and

Speaker 7: where do you see it right now?

Speaker 10: Yeah, I think it's in a good spot. I think

Speaker 10: he continues to get better. You know, he comes out

Speaker 10: each and every day, he's been putting his hard hat on.

Speaker 10: He's going to work and uh, you know, constant improvement

Speaker 10: is what I would say about him. You know, he's

Speaker 10: working extremely hard and people people notice that. I noticed that,

Speaker 10: you know, he's having a really good start to this

Speaker 10: offseason and again just continuing to grow that chemistry that

Speaker 10: we have and you know, hopefully that pays off and

Speaker 10: come come season time.

Speaker 7: Where do you see that?

Speaker 10: I think in his releases and I think who he

Speaker 10: brought in the receiver position, Coach Drew just making sure

Speaker 10: that guys are talking, communicating certain different adjustments, you know,

Speaker 10: whether they're attacking in their stems or what steps their

Speaker 10: certain routes are on. And guys are fine off the

Speaker 10: ball right now and zero especially, so it's a it's

Speaker 10: really good to see Josh.

Speaker 7: What are you learning about coach hartigree right now now.

Speaker 4: That you guys are in LTAS.

Speaker 10: Apparently he's a really good tennis player and he played

Speaker 10: tennis in college. Uh so we got to see him

Speaker 10: on the ping pong table and we'll put that to

Speaker 10: the test now. But he's been great for us. He's

Speaker 10: very detailed in his work, really wants us and me

Speaker 10: especially to be the best that I can be. And

Speaker 10: I really do appreciate the hard coaching and that's what

Speaker 10: he's bringing here.

Speaker 5: We've got a young receiver like.

Speaker 9: Experience the things that you quarterback and help sort of

Speaker 9: up bringing his onboarding teams.

Speaker 10: Team yeah, I mean, I think again, Just try to

Speaker 10: take him under my wing as much as possible and

Speaker 10: let him know that mistakes are gonna happen, it's okay,

Speaker 10: And to learn from from guys in front of him,

Speaker 10: learn from you know, Khalil and and uh Dj and

Speaker 10: you know a guy like Terrelle Shavers who he got

Speaker 10: hurt last year and we all know that, and he's

Speaker 10: working extremely already. He's the first one in this building,

Speaker 10: the last one to leave, continually working to.

Speaker 4: Get back on the field.

Speaker 10: But there's a lot of lessons to be learned from

Speaker 10: guys of that nature who do things the right way

Speaker 10: and work hard for their teammates and don't care about

Speaker 10: their individual success as much as the team. So that's

Speaker 10: you know, that's what we want to see from him.

Speaker 10: And you know, he's been fun to be around in

Speaker 10: this early part.

Speaker 1: All right. So a little technical difficulty there with Josh

Speaker 1: Allen's press conference, so we've got to rejoin with you

Speaker 1: here and Josh talking about some of the chemistry on

Speaker 1: the and Skyler Bell is going to have to take

Speaker 1: his cue from some of the older receivers on the

Speaker 1: roster as he gets acclimated to the offense. So I

Speaker 1: don't know, Steve, you tell me, it's just the first

Speaker 1: day where we're hearing from what's going on on the

Speaker 1: field and it's coming together. But Josh has new OC,

Speaker 1: new quarterbacks coach, which is Pete Carmichael and Bahart agree respectively,

Speaker 1: and there's stuff to get adjusted to because as we know,

Speaker 1: every coach has a different way of running the show.

Speaker 5: I've never met Pete, but it only comes from Sean Payton.

Speaker 5: Sean Payton has a reputation for being a sharp, hard coach.

Speaker 5: He coaches coach JEP hard. He doesn't pull any punches,

Speaker 5: and he wants results and he wants to see you

Speaker 5: get results. I don't know what kind of coach Pete

Speaker 5: Carmichael is, but he's seen that work on numerous occasions

Speaker 5: on numerous teams with numerous different quarterbacks at the highest level.

Speaker 5: I would imagine he does incorporate some hard coaching. Josh

Speaker 5: said he appreciates the hard coaching a lot of guys do,

Speaker 5: and most really good players, like Josh, they're trying to

Speaker 5: get better. They're not gonna get better being told, hey,

Speaker 5: you're the greatest, you know. They don't need their tummy

Speaker 5: rubbed and their and their shoulders rubbed and saying you're

Speaker 5: just doing great, pal, way to go. They want to say, listen,

Speaker 5: you need to do this better. You know they want it,

Speaker 5: And that's what the way kind of Josh is. You

Speaker 5: can imagine Josh is pretty secure in his spot as

Speaker 5: the starting quarterback and wants to play as well as

Speaker 5: he can.

Speaker 1: Yeah.

Speaker 5: All the great players I played with, and you and

Speaker 5: a lot of people know who they all the Hall

Speaker 5: of Famers from the nineties, all those guys and all

Speaker 5: the guys I've been around as a broadcaster, they all

Speaker 5: want coach. They want to get better. They don't care

Speaker 5: if you can if you think they're great. They want

Speaker 5: you to help them get better.

Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know it's early in the process here

Speaker 1: and there's going to be an adjustment. And while the

Speaker 1: offense is probably getting used to some new assistant coaches,

Speaker 1: I think there is some carryover. You still have your

Speaker 1: tight ends coach Rob Boris, you still have your running

Speaker 1: backs coach Kelly Skipper. As we know, it's Joe Brady's

Speaker 1: offense and he's obviously still here as the head coach.

Speaker 1: And then your offensive line coaches, the assistant offensive line

Speaker 1: coach Austin gund was retained and then Pad Meyer comes

Speaker 1: in and he is an Aaron Kromer disciple, so a

Speaker 1: lot of the same techniques are being incorporated there. As

Speaker 1: a matter of fact, I had a conversation with Austin

Speaker 1: Corbett yesterday, the free agent guard who signed with the Bills,

Speaker 1: and one of the main reasons he chose to sign

Speaker 1: with Buffalo was because he was with Aaron Kromer in

Speaker 1: LA with the Rams, and knowing that Pat Meyer is

Speaker 1: coaching here with Austin Gund was it was very appealing

Speaker 1: to him because he knew he wasn't going to have

Speaker 1: to learn brand new techniques. He's familiar with the techniques

Speaker 1: at the offensive lineman need to know here.

Speaker 5: Yeah, Chromer is very one of the best offensive line

Speaker 5: coaches around. He had the ability and we've talked about

Speaker 5: it on the show where he would take guys with

Speaker 5: different physical gifts, and you have to in the NFL,

Speaker 5: you have to play to the edges of your physical gifts.

Speaker 5: You have to get the most out of what you've

Speaker 5: got physically, and that means different things for different guys.

Speaker 5: Big tall, rangy guys with big reaches. They can use

Speaker 5: certain techniques that guys with shorter arms, little lower body,

Speaker 5: whatever their body type is, they have different techniques that

Speaker 5: work better for them against the same rush. And Chromer

Speaker 5: had a level of ability to teach a guy to

Speaker 5: play to his strengths against any rusher, and he would

Speaker 5: teach different techniques to those guys than he would to

Speaker 5: guys with other physical gifts. And that was his ability

Speaker 5: to get the most out of each guy individually and

Speaker 5: coach each one differently. I want you to use this

Speaker 5: technique against this rush because you're really good at this

Speaker 5: and you have a gift. You know, your arms are

Speaker 5: long enough to do this, whereas you I want you

Speaker 5: to do this other thing. You know, anchor better go quicker,

Speaker 5: you know, let the guy get into you. That kind

Speaker 5: of stuff, those kind of technique differences. Offensive linemen who

Speaker 5: know that, who are worth their salt, know that that's

Speaker 5: really key. And to see here guys free agents talking

Speaker 5: about that and knowing where they're going and what they

Speaker 5: need out of a coach, it's pretty high level stuff.

Speaker 1: Yes, we know the defense is going to undergo the

Speaker 1: most change, but how much, I think is the question.

Speaker 1: I think the general consensus is moving to a three

Speaker 1: to four scheme is going to require a lot of

Speaker 1: change up front. The back end doesn't necessarily have to

Speaker 1: change as much because, yes, you've got four linebackers on

Speaker 1: the field, but the secondary a lot of the same

Speaker 1: principles apply. So you know, the guys on the back

Speaker 1: end aren't seeing as big a degree of change as

Speaker 1: maybe the guys in the front seven. I'm curious to

Speaker 1: see how they're going to map that out. How complex

Speaker 1: is the defensive system going to be in year one,

Speaker 1: because you even heard Joe Brady reference it today on field.

Speaker 1: Communication for this defensive group is going to be terribly.

Speaker 5: Important here Yet, we've talked a lot about how rush

Speaker 5: meshing the pressure package with the coverage package is hugely important.

Speaker 5: You've got four linebackers, three defensive linemen, three defensive linemen.

Speaker 5: You're always going to be rushing at least three, and

Speaker 5: those guys if they're rushing, fine, But any one of

Speaker 5: the four linebackers could be the fourth add on rusher

Speaker 5: or the fourth and fifth add on rusher. And you

Speaker 5: can imagine when you got dbs on the field or

Speaker 5: four dbs on the field, they got to be covering

Speaker 5: the right guy and or the right area if its

Speaker 5: zone in congomoration with the guys who are rushing, and

Speaker 5: as complicated as it gets up front, that's how complicated

Speaker 5: it is to fill in the gaps from the secondary.

Speaker 5: And that's all about screaming and yelling and having code

Speaker 5: words on the field, just like it's one of those things.

Speaker 5: You got to have reps and reps and reps and reps,

Speaker 5: and you got to know what you're doing. You gotta

Speaker 5: know your responsibilities. Whether you can do it or not

Speaker 5: is another issue, but you got to know what you're

Speaker 5: supposed to do. And that's hard to get to when

Speaker 5: they start throwing in exotic looks, exotic rush packages, and

Speaker 5: when you're trying to disguise. There's a lot in it

Speaker 5: and there's a lot of new parts over there that guy,

Speaker 5: which is the other part. You got to find your

Speaker 5: positional fits. Like for example, we heard coach Brady today

Speaker 5: talking about de Alford as the new Nickel, but everybody

Speaker 5: else on the defense has to learn how to play

Speaker 5: off of him because he is.

Speaker 1: A new teammate. Is Dorian Williams lining up next to

Speaker 1: Terrel Bernard, how's that competition gonna go? Is he gonna

Speaker 1: have competition for that job, or is he just going

Speaker 1: to walk into it just due to attrition, or are

Speaker 1: they gonna sign a veteran linebacker late who gets added

Speaker 1: to the mix. What's happening at corner? Is Max Harston

Speaker 1: gonna get competition from IGB to start outside? We'll have

Speaker 1: to wait and see how that materializes in training camp.

Speaker 1: And then at the safety position, I think a lot

Speaker 1: of us believe it'll be CJ. Gardner Johnson opposite Cole

Speaker 1: Bishop as the safety pairing. But what happens if Jalen

Speaker 1: Kilgore comes in here and lights it on fire as

Speaker 1: a fifth round draft choice, or is he a consideration

Speaker 1: for a three safety package and sub because he's so dynamic.

Speaker 1: Those are all things that they've really got to figure

Speaker 1: out here, Not to mention the fact, what's the best

Speaker 1: combination on the front five there? I think we kind

Speaker 1: of have an idea on who the starting edge rushers

Speaker 1: are going to be, knowing Chubbs signed a big contract

Speaker 1: and Rousseau is here on a big contract extension, those

Speaker 1: are probably your first two guys out there at outside linebacker.

Speaker 1: But who comes in? How does Michael Hoyd fit in? Yeah?

Speaker 1: And when's he coming back, When is he going to

Speaker 1: be ready? Is he going to be full go the

Speaker 1: first day of training camp?

Speaker 5: All of that stuff, whole thing, it can be encapsulated.

Speaker 5: There's a letting you know there's seven new positions up

Speaker 5: front in the front seven, but there's also an it

Speaker 5: can be encapsulated why it's a big challenge in one

Speaker 5: position group the corner. You got Igb. It was just

Speaker 5: a Brett Fresh draft pick. You got Max who was

Speaker 5: drafted last year.

Speaker 4: Yep.

Speaker 5: They draft IGB this year, and they draft him for

Speaker 5: a reason. They may think, man, physically, he's a better

Speaker 5: fit than Max being drafted as an outside corner in

Speaker 5: a four to three, but the way we're gonna run

Speaker 5: our defense, Igb's built better for it.

Speaker 1: Well, those two players play two very different styles.

Speaker 5: That's right. So that means they may be looking for

Speaker 5: something specific at that spot and IGB may have a

Speaker 5: bigger leg up than we given him credit for as

Speaker 5: a rookie draft pick. Or it may be just that

Speaker 5: he's the best guy available. We wanted to get a

Speaker 5: corner and we still like Max better at this point.

Speaker 5: I don't know, But that's just one example of eight

Speaker 5: position guys or nine positions on the defense that you

Speaker 5: got to go through that with.

Speaker 1: Yeah, Harriston is speed and technique. IGB is physicality and

Speaker 1: in your face physical.

Speaker 5: The same thing applies to Dion Walker and all those

Speaker 5: guys up front.

Speaker 1: Yep.

Speaker 5: It's all the same problem or the same challenge for

Speaker 5: the defensive coaching staff and the philosophy change that's going on.

Speaker 5: It's all a problem.

Speaker 1: Break time for us here, one segment to go. We'll

Speaker 1: get your final comments on the Under the Radar game

Speaker 1: on the Bill schedule from the tweetcheet when we return

Speaker 1: here on one of Bill's Live. All right, back on one

Speaker 1: Bill's Live, and there is some NFL news to pass

Speaker 1: along to you. It looks like Rashi Rice is back

Speaker 1: in hot water. He essentially violated his parole after testing

Speaker 1: positive for marijuana and he has been ordered to serve

Speaker 1: thirty days in jail, meaning he will miss all of

Speaker 1: chiefs OTA's n mandatory mini camp. So he's going to

Speaker 1: start serving those thirty days immediately. So he'll be scheduled

Speaker 1: for release in the middle of June, and we'll have

Speaker 1: to see if the league comes down on him with

Speaker 1: a suspension for violation of the league's personal conduct policy.

Speaker 1: He violated his parole. He's going to jail for it.

Speaker 1: I would like to think that there will be repercussions

Speaker 1: there as far as league imposed suspensions go. I mean,

Speaker 1: he served six games for the car drag racing thing

Speaker 1: on Highway ten, Texas.

Speaker 5: Tell me how actually serving time doesn't get you a suspension.

Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd like to know, because that, I think would

Speaker 1: draw a suspension. And he's already coming off a six

Speaker 1: game suspension, so he's a prior offender.

Speaker 5: Now does this because this is the same thing, because

Speaker 5: it's the same offense, same instance, and it's just furthering that.

Speaker 5: Does he get another suspension or is it? Are they

Speaker 5: going to say six has already been done? That I

Speaker 5: can't answer, And I'm telling you right now, Andy Reid's

Speaker 5: calling the commissioner saying, hey.

Speaker 1: Hey, he's already Clark Hunt one of the other two.

Speaker 5: I mean, that's what they're gonna come with. But no,

Speaker 5: I mean yeah, I mean, that's got some.

Speaker 1: Head cases out there.

Speaker 5: That is that is that is a series of bad

Speaker 5: decisions by Rashid Rice.

Speaker 1: Not good for him and probably not good for the Chiefs.

Speaker 1: Want to get a couple of final tweets sheet comments

Speaker 1: in as we were asking you today, what is the

Speaker 1: under the radar game on the Bill schedule that you

Speaker 1: think most may not be noticing. Alex says Week one

Speaker 1: at Houston with the new head coach, new defense, super

Speaker 1: Bowl aspirations of winning Houston give the team a lot

Speaker 1: of confidence momentum heading into a gauntlet early in the schedule.

Speaker 1: A loss or slow star could be detrimental for us

Speaker 1: later on. You know the back to back lost history

Speaker 1: of this team over the last six years. Rick says,

Speaker 1: if Fernando Mendoza makes his debut as a starter against

Speaker 1: the Bills, they need to be ready for the Raiders

Speaker 1: game in Vegas, which will be much more difficult than expected.

Speaker 1: Buffalo has a habit of playing down to lesser opponents,

Speaker 1: and Las Vegas falls into that category.

Speaker 5: That may be one of the differences with his coaching

Speaker 5: staff that they don't do that. Oh, I mean, that's

Speaker 5: up in the year. We would hope it's gonna be

Speaker 5: a different team. There's gonna be some differences that we're

Speaker 5: gonna have to look for as this season unfolds.

Speaker 1: Gary says, both Jets games, Okay, I don't know, if

Speaker 1: I can get behind it, they might be a little tougher.

Speaker 1: Division games are tough. We'll see tomorrow.
